I have been going to this optometrist for a few years now and each time I visit they greet me with smiles and positive attitudes. they never make me feel pressured. they give me full attention when I talk to them about any concerns that I might have. Dr.Barnes is patient with me never makes me feel I'm being rushed. she takes time to listen to my concerns and explains everything in a understandable way. Calls are not picked up during business hours. I've left voicemails and calls are not returned. I've emailed too. I waited over a month with trial contacts to finally get ahold of them and get scheduled to see the dr to finalize the prescription. Very frustrating. This was my first visit to Sun City Vision - Optometry (back in March) and my experiment was great! Everyone was friendly and since my first initial phone call when I scheduled my appointment. Meeting Dr. Charolette Barnes was the best part of my visit. Not only was she extremely knowledgeable and NICE : ) she had a genuine interest in trying to help me with any questions or concerns I had. I definitely left my appointment with a better understanding about eye care. i sat in the waiting room for about an hour listening to the employees visit and laugh with each other as if they weren't behind.Thats when I heard there technician wasn't in, by accident through the laughing. So, I tried to be understanding. But when I got skipped over I realized the incompetence was oblivious to the point, they can't even keep appointments or keep people in a line I had enough. The bad thing was it wasn't even busy, they took over 45 minutes per person and there was four of them, because of the laughing and joking with each other. If you want to do stand-up change jobs. I made my appointment time, and sat there with no apology or explanation only to watch you get upset with me when I said something about it. So thanks... Been trying for over a week to have somebody call me back about an appointment for some faulty glasses I received. They said they would have the doctor call me but that never happened. So I called back several times but nobody ever answers the phone. They're supposed to open at 8 AM so I drive down there. 815 nobody's there. I asked the office next door to them and they tell me they don't know when they get in. It's usually different daily. So I go back home and call still no answer. Please answer your phones. I was in for an appt. on July 13th for an exam. Ordered new contacts, they said they would be in withing 2 weeks. To date I have not received a call. They have changed ownership and it's not for the good. I've had the same insurance and suddenly my out of pocket was much higher than ever before. I had glasses that were 6 months old that just fell apart from the inside. When I say it is obvious that it was due to a manufacturer issue I'm not joking. Despite this, I was refused help. I went in the office at least 4 weeks ago to order a new frame under warranty. They said it would be 2-3 weeks but they still haven't shown up. I called to see what was going on and they couldn't give me an answer nor did they return my call like they said they would. Same thing happened 2 more times when I tried getting an update. Then they said a few days ago they ordered my lenses. Well that is all good and well but I didn't order lenses, I ordered a frame and I would have liked them prior to my daughter's wedding which was on Sunday. The girl I talked to said she would call other centers and see if anyone had the frames I wanted and call me back. No call. Today I called to see what was going on with my frames and she said they were JUST ordered. What??? I came in over a month ago and that is when they should have been ordered. This is ridiculous as I have tape holding my frames together. We have been a patient of Dr. Vanessa's for years. Since my daughters were little and they are adults and married now and we loved Keisha who used to work there. Never used to have this problem then. Not sure about this new ownership. read more

I had my eyes tested here and purchased the glasses. The prescription Dr Lyle gave me was way off. When I went back to get re-examined, he kept saying, "in theory" and I want a doctor to look at me individually... bottom line is I bought the glasses and the prescription was way off. Went back and he retested me. Guess what the prescription did not work. So I went back again and I hear, "you have sensitive eyes". So I let them try again. first and last. my appt was at 10am I fill the form and wait for them to call me! and when they call me like 30mts later they take me to a room for one of the eye exams, cool, but then after that they move me to another room and let me wait for another 20mts, I come outside and ask one of the front desk girls if they think I can be out by 11:40 because I have to pick up my son from school! they tell me he will be there soon, again 10mts later exactly at 11:30 the lady who made my first exam came in and said hes coming and I tell her but I have to leave in 10mts you think he can make it if not I'll reschedule my appt for another day, she said "he might have forgot about you but let me check" finally the dr came and the firs thing he said was "IF YOU HAVE TO LEAVE YOU CAN LEAVE" really? damn thanks for the service never again. What kind of professionalism from a "dr." is that?? 100% don't recommend this place. read more

beware in this office when you're handed what you may think to be a standard form to sign updating your address and phone number and insurance information like most all doctor's offices hand you to fill out i but that's not true you're agreeing to an additional charge.. they don't verbally explain the form. when you walk in. they hand it to you like it's just part of the normal practice and a required thing to fill out and sign. it asked for your insurance phone number and address and ask you to sign it on the bottom and print your name on the very bottom. i made the mistake of assuming it was just the standard form that states if you're insurance company doesn't pay, then your responsible for it, but i was wrong. . this form you're signing is agreeing to pay 29 extra dollars for an additional test.. they don't say this is for an extra test that will cost you 29 extra dollars but, you don't have to sign it if you don't want the additional test for a fee. this seems a bit shady. why wouldn't you verbally let people know what they're signing like most people do. they don't say a word to you and just hand you a form to sign like it's just their standard info form. yes it's my fault for not reading but i've always trusted sun city vision clinic, and have never been given this form before. now i don't feel comfortable with this vision clinic. and of all the places a vision clinic where people walk in with bad eyes and not having their glasses should be told what they're signing. maybe they are not doing this on purpose but it sure seems shady. read more

This was my first time coming to this eye doctor. It's close to home and in my network. Slightly offput because when I called ahead to ask how much I'd be paying out of pocket for a glasses and contacts exam, they said $10 each. But then when I got there, they said my insurance only covered one or the other of the exams. So instead of paying $20, I paid $95. But aside from that slight misunderstanding, I thought the doctor and the staff were very nice. And I LOVE my new glasses. I would probably come back. read more

Not to happy with this facility. Myself & my children have been a long time clients of this office. Never have I ever had any problems. I am very surprised. Scheduled a appt for myself & my son well over a month ago and 1 week before the appt I get a call they need to reschedule our appts. I advised the girl not sure if their new appts can work , but would call them back if I need to reschedule. I call office today to advise their rescheduled appointments do not work we need different appts. I was told they cannot see myself & son until now end of MARCH!!! Really, this is no where near feasible. This office had the problem with my original appt , not me. And now I have to wait a total of 2 months to try and see DR for myself and son. No, I think better accommodations should be made. When I mentioned to the girl looks like I now need to find a new eye dr she was like yea, I'm sorry to see you go. REALLY, so this is a clear indication their patients mean nothing. I am very shocked by this, as I was under the impression after all these years this place / eye Dr and his office administration cared about their clients. Clearly we are NOT and are just another number in line. So diss appointed by this. Remember when scheduling an appt here u could get a call right before your appt date to reschedule at their convenience not yours!! The staff is good & so is the Dr. but we always wait when we have a scheduled appointment. Some of the time I'm on my lunch break. Not happy with that. That's why we get scheduled appts.... I work in the medical field & I understand situations come up and there may be a little waiting period at times. This just seemed to be to often. Great way to loose patients. I arrived for a scheduled appointment and was greeted warmly at reception, and before I finished the paperwork, I was called. Kisha performed the initial exams. She was kind, attentive and made me feel like I was in great hands. Dr. Lysle Shaw-McMinn is a consummate professional with an impeccable "bedside-manner." Despite his youthful appearance and obvious "Doogie Howser" impression, I felt that I could trust his every word (Living soda-free is so paying off!). Focusing solely on my vision care, he attempted no annoying, unnecessary up-selling. Everyone, including Jessica, who checked me out, performed cheerfully, compassionately and efficiently. If only they could be my primary care providers. Don't let the cottage-like clinic fool you. I was in and out in thirty mins. I cut my eye from sleeping with my contacts in, they saw me an hour after I called them. Staff is so nice and friendly. Dr.K was helpful and gave me everything I needed so I didn't have to fill any prescriptions anywhere else. Definitely would recommend them to anyone. read more

Dr. Lysle Shaw-McMinn is an incredible optometrist. He did a thorough examination of my vision and have provided me with the best prescription of lenses I have ever had. I haven't been able to see my computer screen clearly for longer than a few minutes at a time for over a year now and I can finally see my screen clearly for however long I need to without getting those relentless headaches. It's wonderful. I definitely recommend Dr. Lysle to anyone looking to receive a thorough exam and a prescription that fits their vision perfectly. I give this place a five star rating because everyone here is always very welcoming and super nice! Secondly, if your appointment is at 10, you're seen at ten and if you arrive early you sometimes get called in earlier than scheduled. Point is, you never really wait past your scheduled time and that is a huge deal to me because at other places if your appointment is at 10 they sometimes see you until 12 and that's ridiculous, but this office is an exception and they are VERY organized and respectful at that. Third, and definitely not the least, this is the first eye doctor office I go to and in all honesty, I was completely nervous about coming, but everything went well and I'd like to thank Doctor Lysle for making my very first experience a good one. Doctor Lysle has much knowledge and he is willing to answer any and all questions you may have! I got my first pair of glasses here and Doctor Lysle was super helpful! He listened to all of my concerns regarding my vision and he conversed with me throughout so that I knew what was going on and what not! The first time I went, I got reading glasses and I ended up wanting them for both reading and distance and he made that happen with no hesitation! I had also mentioned to him that I had burning eyes and he recommended some eye drops by the name "Zaditor" and they have worked just great.
