Sometimes, in my opinion, it did feel a bit less genuine/fake and it also felt like I was being rushed when I needed to call. It always seems like the front desk receptionists are in a hurry to hang up the phone. Dental/Appointments/Pricing: When I first started going to Island Dental, I loved my cleaning experience with the hygienist I was originally paired with but when she moved away, everyone after her that I had just seemed okay. My teeth never really felt truly amazingly clean as they had in the past with my primary hygienist in California. They really push the "boomcloud membership" which they raised the price multiple times since my first appointment. I personally think that for the quality of cleaning, it is extremely overpriced. Overall: After multiple appointments, still continuing the BoomCloud membership although my teeth never felt as clean as I would like them to be, I have decided that I would much rather go back to California to my primary dentist than to continue with Island Dental. Sure, it is beautiful office and the hygienists and doctors were kind, but it just isn't worth the price for the experience. Before proceeding with treatment, I received an original treatment case with specific amounts. The amounts shown to me were: * Crown -- $1,092.00 * Abutment -- $500.00 * Intraoral periapical X-ray -- $0.00 I understood these to be the costs associated with my treatment. I also knew that my insurance did not cover the implant procedure, so I expected to be responsible for the amount presented in the treatment plan. I paid $1,592.00, based on the original treatment case, and understood that I had paid the agreed amount in full. Later, I discovered that the office had charged: * Crown -- $1,549.00 * Abutment -- $1,004.00 * Intraoral periapical X-ray -- $38.00 I then received a bill showing an additional $999.00 balance. I have disputed this balance and requested that the office review the original treatment plan, the charges, and my payment. I have also requested an explanation of why the charges are different from the amounts originally presented to me and documentation showing when I agreed to the increased charges. My concern is not simply that the final amount was higher. It is that I relied on the original treatment information when I agreed to proceed and made my payment accordingly. I recommend that prospective patients ask for a detailed written treatment plan and confirm in writing exactly what they will be responsible for paying before proceeding with expensive dental treatment. This review reflects my personal experience and the billing documents provided to me. I hope the office will resolve the matter by reviewing the original treatment case and correcting my account to a $0.00 balance.
