My mom hadn't been to the dentist in literally decades but she had a tooth infection that was getting intolerably painful. To keep it brief, she was extremely relieved and satisfied with her experience. The front desk people are friendly and helpful--there was an elderly patient who apparently showed up on the wrong day but they still agreed to help him and even filled out the forms for him--and Dr. Bui was attentive and gentle with what was a very badly infected tooth, like we're talking a great deal of blood soaked gauze. The first was for teeth cleaning, it was decent especially the assistant who cleaned my teeth. (Not the asian one) The second time was horrible!!!!!- I went in at 9am with my sister. We both were going to get fillings. We were taken in and I was forced to sit there for about an hour with my teeth numb holding the suction tube. Then after they finished with my sister, they went off and did another ladys teeth, who came after me! First of all I was there first and have been waiting. After an hour or so, the dentist came around to fill in my teeth ( originally she said 2 filling however she ended up doing one!!" The filling took literally 5 minutes!! while she did my filling SHE KEPT ASKING ME TO HOLD ANOTHER BIGGER SUCTION TUBE! Afterwards.... she got up and said she was done! Then left me in the chair WITH THE PAPER STRAP STILL AROUND MY NECK! I was honesty confused. So I took it off and put it on the counter Thats not even the worst part! My mom recommended this place to me. The location is in a very busy plaza so depending on the day and time you go, parking can be difficult. The gentlemen at the front desk is always very nice. After one visit he's already remembered by name. The dental hygienists are nice too. The Asian one is very sweet and friendly. The Hispanic one is brutally honest if you haven't been flossing or brushing properly. Some might find her attitude offensive; I honestly find it kind of refreshing. The dentist herself speaks English very well and even though I speak fluent Vietnamese, she tries to make me feel more comfortable by explaining everything to me in English. I've had multiple experiences with this place now and all of them have been good. Although they have made me wait a little too long on one occasion, I understand that it can get pretty busy. Here are the reasons why I return to them: - Deep cleaning: My teeth felt wonderful after! - Root canal & temporary crown: Surprisingly felt no pain... - Crown: She made sure it was a perfect fit. Totally worth my money. I can finally chew hard stuff now! - Fillings: I've had 2 of them done here now (and returning for another one) and they were all done very quick. The dentist is very good at explaining exactly what she is doing and warning me about any potential pain. My teeth are terrible and I clearly need, and still need, a lot of work done. I was referred here by my husband last month. The staffs are friendly and patient. They make me feel welcome and taken care of. The inside of the office is new, clean and well decorated with the massage dental chair!! I came in for new insurance patient exam and cleaning as well to get quote for impacted wisdom tooth removal. First I was seen by female dentist which I forgot her name for cleaning and exam. She is gentle with cleaning. She makes sure I'm ok during cleaning. Then I was seen by male dentist - Dr Le -extraction of my wisdom tooth. The whole procedure took 90 mins. Both dentists are nice and knowledgeable! The price copay are reasonable! Good job! THIS OFFICE DESERVES ZERO STAR. I have a 5 year old that need to see a dentist for her cavity tooth. I saw the advertisement on the TV and their sign states that they provide the service to CHILDREN and FAMILY. I took my daughter there and waited for 2 hours to see the dentist. Finally, the dentist came, her name is LIEN HOANG. This OLD LADY came to take a look at my daughter teeth and started to do some cleaning. She did not even clean all the teeth, she cleaned about 6 -7 of them only. Then, she said that she will refer my daughter to a pediatric dentist because she cannot do the treatment for children teeth. WTF. Their sign says, "CHILDREN AND FAMILY". I took my daughter there for cavity treatment, not a quick cleaning. I waited for 2 hours and had a stupid quick cleaning that I can do at home by the way she did it. And they will charge my insurance for over $200. People, please, if you have children, DO NOT take them to SUN DENTAL. You will waste your time and your co-payment for nothing. I was referred by friends to come to this place. I called at 10:00am to make an appointment and suppose to come at 11:30am for cleaning teeth. This place seems like very easy to find, and it's closed to Lee's sandwich. I came by at 11:00am and sat to wait for my appointment. There was two workers working in here and they told me to filling in the form and wait a little bit for the doctor come. I've checking on Yelp and received a gift from here, surprise! After that, the receptionist called me to come inside and she started to check my teeth before the doctor came to clean my teeth. The doctor was very friendly and very focus on his job. He called me by name and very gentle. I was happy about his skills. After my teeth was very clean he asked me to do more, it was like my teeth was not good and he had to fix it. I was hesitant in coming here based on the reviews (some were good and others disappointing.) I came here anyway because the location and timing worked out for me. My experience was actually very pleasant. I was taken in shortly after showing up for my appointment. Had X-rays taken promptly and was told I had a few cavities, which I knew about. I was worried that I would need a root canal but the dentist here told me she could temporarily put in fillings and hopefully I won't need a root Canal if I take good care of my tooth. I also got my teeth cleaning done prior to have my cavities fixed. I'm very happy with the results. Ps. I am a medical doctor and I understand that most patients feel entitled to the idea of "customers are always right," which not always the case. I have read other reviews and I realized that the negative ones were because people felt "entitled" - dentist did not tell me how to take care of my teeth or I was referred to a dental surgeon because my case was complicated... all these scenarios seemed to be common sense practice but to each his/her own. read more

My family started coming here when we first moved to San Jose. They were friendly and the office space was inviting. We haven't had a bad experience from this office. The reason why I gave them a 4 stars out of 5 is because even though their hours states that they open at 9:00AM, they never seem to open at 9 unless there's an appointment. I came here for a cleaning but am extremely disappointed at the lack of professionalism exhibited here. Instead of cleaning my teeth, the dentist handed the job to assistant.The technician (not the asian one) who cleaned my teeth and took my x-rays did a sloppy and superficial job. There was barely any cleaning. The technician couldn't even be bothered to take complete x-rays of my teeth. Yes, Yelp and Sun Dental, this is my experience with this place. Bottom like, I took my wife to this place, and waited an hour and 30 minutes for her. She came out and told me the cleaning was only 15 minutes. I, then got two bills from them. One for the one I took my wife, and second for an appoint I canceled for deep cleaning. It was for $1200, but we did not receive. I called the office and passed around to 3 different people, before the charge was reversed to my insurance. I would have filed fraud with the insurance company. I called this place 3 times to get the X-ray copies for my wife with her consent for a different dental office, and they still haven't sent them even after promising that they would. read more

I don't like going to dentists, but Dr. Bui is a good dentist I ever had. My first time to have a deep cleaning done and had the MOST pleasant dental experience in years. Dr Bui is gentle, kind, does a great job and always explains procedures and her recommendations. With other dentists, having the numbing injections can be downright painful -the worst part of the procedure- but with her skill of a professional, the pain was greatly reduced. Needed an emergency root canal for falling and breaking most of my front tooth off. Sun dental was the first office to take me in right away. Had a myriad of concerns ranging from anxiety and finances, but their front and back end services were very comforting. Was nervous going into the procedure, as I heard it would be painful from Google, but the Doc (Dr. Bao Hoang I believe) was very realistic and professional. He gave me several numbing medications and went through with the operations no sweat. He was very knowledgeable and explained the procedure in a professional manner which ultimately soothed my fears. Overall, it was painless and my anxiety going into Dental offices pretty much dissipated at that point. Had a great impression of the lead Dentist, but his assistant was a bit cold and robotic. She also would take the suction tube that sucks saliva and spit and place it in uncomfortable areas. Anyways, most of my tooth was gone from the fall, so I also had to get a crown and come in for further procedures. I came back for another 3 appointments for the crown procedure, and one appointment was a waste of time due to the fact that the Dentist made a mistake in ordering the wrong shaded crown, but he acknowledged his faults, stating it was more beneficial for me to get the most consistent colored crown, which is a good thing. Overall the procedures went fine without a hitch. They did get some filling coming off here and there, but that's to be expected. They also got some of the cement on my lips but they made sure to clean it off thoroughly. The overall procedures will always be a bit discomforting, but the Dentist do a great job in cleaning and explaining things to a point where you feel comfortable. By 3 weeks, I had a new front tooth, and I am satisfied. As for the front end services, the receptionists were very kind and accommodating. The manager was probably the most helpful and informative when it came time to working with my insurance. I called several times to go over the insurance claims and info, and he was kind enough to go through the docs and my worries every time. I am overall very happy and will be back. read more

The office has nice setting, clean but the Dentists hare are lazy. They don't clean your teeth properly and don't teach you how to take care of your teeth (like flossing etc.) Instead, they just want you to do deep cleaning whoever comes in the office. I don't recommend this Dental Office for anyone. They suggested treatments that were not necessary and costly that had nothing to do with my dental issue. Sun Dental is accomodating, clean, and modern. Did I mention super-friendly! They suggested procedures that would save the original tooth. They wanted to help me, not help my money float away. I was so satisfied that I referred my wife to Dr. Bui. At first I was skeptical about trying a new dental place. I'm used to going to my dentist in Oakland. But decide to give this place a try. I love it. The place is clean, the equipment is up to date and they have a kid's room for the kids to play. Not only that, they ha e WIFI. I'm a Vietnamese and I'm a transexual. I've seen the ad of Sun Dental everyday on Vietnamesee television 1-6 VietNet as they said that they take all kind of insurance, even Medical and free x-ray. So I called to make appointment for front teeth broken and I told them I have Medical insurance, they take my appointment and put me on Friday June 16, around 2:00PM. When I was there, they took my driver license, Medical, Medicare, then they called Medical, Medicare and then they told me they accepted my insurance, after that they gave me a form to fill out my information and all kind of sickness whatever. So I fill in the form with all of my information and I have kidney failured. Therefore they can NOT give me front teeth treatment in same day, they told me I have to see my kidney doctor "Addy Squarer 408-998-2100" to fill out another form and ask Dr Squarer for medication to take before and after dental treatment (teeth crown). So I go home and called Dr Squarer to asking to see her Tuesday 10:30AM June 20, 2017 and get medication from DaVita RX 866-667-1776 AMOXICILLIN tab 500mg RX#22062227, before I go to see dentist at 2:00PM in same day. I came to Sun Dental at 1:00PM and give the form of Dr Squarer to gentleman at front desk office, so he gave me 4 pills AMOXICILLIN and told me I must take the pills now (one hour before go to dentist room) and wait till 2:00PM, some assistant of dentists takes me to the dentist room and taking the x-ray on me. After all 20 minutes, the dentist came to see me and refer me that she will fix a back teeth for me, but NOT a front teeth. So I told her that I DON"T care about the back teeth, because no one will see it and I'm going to die anyway, and I only wanted to fix my front teeth, at least I can USE it for few years before I die. She has left and come back about 5 minutes and told me that I need deep cleansing first and it cost $250.00 and I must pay cash, because Medical did NOT pay for deep cleansing, Medical only pays for regular cleansing $150.00... I told her I thought you guys (dentists) already accepted my Medical insurance, so I have only $100.00 in my purse, then she told me with $100.00, she will only cleansing 1/4 of my mouth and she asked me to leave her office. I've left and come back next week to asking the gentleman at front desk, please me back all of my information and copy of diver license and Medicare Medical. But he said he will NOT and WON'T.... The reason I want my information back, because I'm a transexual and I DON'T want they keeping my information before and after of me (from male to female or female to male). I will send this to Medicare and Medical, also bring it to Police too. If anyone who reads this, please be the judge. Thank you. read more

AMAZING SERVICE!! I LOVE this dentist and her staff!!! They are the best!! I took both of my daughters there and I couldn't be happier. This is my first time at this place. I need my teeth cleaning. I was so disappointed. My appointment was at 1pm, I came 10 minutes early to do paper works, every thing done at 1. I thought that they take me in on time, but they didn't. The doctor was doing on 2 patients ahead of me. Then the girl did x- ray for me at 1:45, then I had to wait another 15 minutes to see a doctor. Finally, doctor came to clean my teeth, she did a bad job, done in 10 minutes ( can you believe it ? ).
