I have had my car serviced for simple repairs at Sun Devil Auto generally with good results. In March I had an oil change before I left for the summer and one of the techs and one of the managers told me I had leaking struts and I needed to replace all four struts. I did not notice any bouncing or suspension problems so I did not do the repairs. Their estimate was $2400 to replace all four struts. When I returned this fall I had another oil change they again told me I needed to replace the struts. My car is a 2002 Lexus SC 430. I had received a recall notice from Lexus to replace the Tecata passenger side airbag so I took the vehicle to Lexus. I had them check the struts at the same time. They told me there were no issues with the struts. I took this information back to the manager at Sun Devil Auto in Fountain Hills and confronted her with my story. All I wanted was an apology and that something be done to the tech and the manager who had clearly misrepresented the situation with my struts. I failed to get either an apology or a admittance of error on their part. Bottom line I feel like they tried to rip me off and I will not trust any input they give me going forward. Their response is disingenuous. I brought this to the attention of Sun Devil Auto so that they could restore my trust in their business. This issue has nothing to do with "recommendations". Their tech and customer rep told me all four of my struts wete keaking and needed to be replaced. By their own admittance even they couldn't find more than one strut leaking (I don't agree even with that claim) upon re-examination but I was told all four were leaking and they needed to be replaced not based on mileage but because they had failed. I did not become indignant either ...I requested an apology, admittance of error and that they discipline the offending employees in some appropriate way. They sre covering up their error. read more

Being newly transplanted to Fountain Hills from So Cal where we had a wonderful and trusted auto repair shop, we were very nervous about trusting another company. We also got taken advantage of over a simple oil change from another shop here in Fountain Hills so needless to say we put off our repairs for as long as humanly possible. My husband was on a business trip so I took the plunge and brought the SUV to Sun Devil. Mark was absolutely wonderful about giving me a ride back to the house immediately and then calling once the car was diagnosed. It was a steep bill due to the service that was needed to bring the car into top shape but since we knew what was going to be needed, I was positive that he was giving us an honest estimate of work. The price was at least $1000 less than rip off oil change repair shop quoted us. Mark worked his magic with as many coupons as he could find and a "new customer discount" which made it was really nice. They are professional, honest and the SUV runs great! We finally feel we have found someone we can trust and would recommend Sun Devil to anyone in need of a good repair shop with friendly people. It's not hard to do a good job and be honest and fair. Close to 4 hours for an alignment when I was told 2. Also had a reservation on saturday that they said it would be done in 2 hours. They didnt get it done on saturday either. Wasted 3 hours of my time then. I have tried out a few auto repair places in Fountain Hills. Worst by far. Don't come here. No problem for saving you time. Do not trust this place. I will never bring my Lexus there again. After waiting in their waiting room for an hour for a prescheduled oil change, Gina let me walk out the door without telling me I was missing two lug nuts!!! When I returned to ask if the tires had been rotated she said no because they didn't have the right tool to unlock my wheels!! And, by the way, you're missing a couple lug nuts. Wow! read more

It comes down to trust and customer service: Like others who have posted reviews, we also had a very frustrating (and expensive) experience with Sun Devil Auto in Fountain Hills - to the point of filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. After spending almost $4K with them, they inaccurately diagnosed the problem, which then required me to spend another $1500 to get the initial problem fixed, after I returned home to a different state. Furthermore, they did not handle the situation by "doing the right thing", meaning to honor the stated "Warranty". While I hesitate to include too much detail, if I do not, their response will question my credibility. I brought my vehicle there for an oil leak, they diagnosed the problem incorrectly, only replaced the oil pan/gasket for the leak, while also replacing the "saturated" timing belt and crank shaft. What demonstrates their incorrect diagnosis is gravity: the timing belt and crank shaft are above the oil pan - the oil pump is above. If those parts required replacement due to "oil saturation", then they should have figured out the oil was coming from up above, from the oil pump. After returning home, and realizing the car was still leaking oil, Gina at Sun Devil assured me the repairs would be covered under a 12 month warranty. However, since they had not accurately discovered the actual leak in the oil pump, they did not honor the warranty. After requesting Sun Devil to "meet us halfway" on the service bill, (since the labor expense would have been less than half when they had all of the components removed), the Area Manager for Sun Devil, Montgomery Miller was abrasive, rude, and would not even consider the request. If "customer service is their #1 priority" (as stated in one of their review responses), the right thing would have been to admit they diagnosed it incorrectly, and help minimize the additional expense required. read more

Wow They jacked up the price of the 18 oil change to 50 and than said they rotated tires but had not. I had curb damage on a rear wheel so I knew they were lying. When they knew they got caught they blamed it on a tech who had already left. Will not return or recommend if it was free. Manager knew he got caught so gave me a worth less future 18 oil change which is worthless to me because I have a extra quart of so called premium oil. read more

Wasted LOTS of money and time over 2 years visiting Sun Devil Auto in Fountain Hills - what's the definition of insanity again? Most recent visit cost me $2300 - including $300 I had to spend Ubering to work until they finally"fixed" my vehicle. Now, the car shakes violently when I accelerate to highway speed (Oh - they fixed the motor mounts!) Also, the cruise control no longer works,. nor do the interior lights. Somebody forgot to reattach the engine cover, too. My wife wants me to take it back. No, thank you. Some lessons are hard earned, but I have learned this: I have been an idiot for giving Sun Devil Auto In Fountain Hills multiple chances to be "my garage." I will NEVER go back. Period. Do yourself a favor - DO NOT take your car to this place. They will recommend so many things they can fix if you'll just make an appointment to drop off your car. Don't jump on that hamster wheel - I bet you'll be sorry if you do. Nice people work there. I will say that. Just aren't very good at what they do - at least in my experience. I had taken my cars to R & R for years, so when they switched to Sun Devil I stayed with them. The one person who has been there for as long as I can remember is extremely rude when you don't say "go ahead" to their recommended repairs. I took my vehicle in for an oil change over the weekend, only to be told that my brake pads were 85% worn (under warrenty from when they put them on a year ago) and that I needed new front brake rotors, to the tune of $600 and that I also needed a wheel alignment. When I advised not at this time they advised me not to drive the vehicle then. I just left the Chevrolet dealership there is nothing wrong with my brakes and the car does not need an alignment... thedealership did however find an issue with the steering gear box... read more

Pulled in at 5:25 (they close at 6) with a dying battery. They took us right in and we were back on the road in 15 minutes with a new battery. Great service. We are from Colorado and had no clue where to go, but we have found our new "go to" service station. We will definitely be back! read more

Took my Mazda 3 in with a battery dying as I arrived. Got me right in, replaced and also found that I had a blown fuse for phone charger. Replace that as a courtesy! As luck would have it, our other vehicles car battery is going, so today I called and set an appointment. We will be visiting them this morning. read more

My family and I were having issues with our old RV conversion van while travelling home back east to North Carolina early August 2017. Mark and the folks at Sun Devil Auto in Fountain Hills were amazingly caring and helpful to us. They patiently listened to our description of the unusual issues we were experiencing with our old van. They next very quickly and efficiently ran diagnostics on our vehicle but were unable to find any issues that they understood to be causing our particular issues. With the utmost of honesty, integrity, and kindness they refused to let us compensate us for their time. Apparently, the work we had done on the van just prior to our visit must have fixed our issues. I am so thankful for Sun Devil Auto's help. They are kind, trustworthy folks!
