Very frustrating experience, they had my car for 3 days thinking they were working on it, no call to say what was wrong, so I decided to go by and find out.. then was told my car was next in the mechanic line up... guess since they weren't inconvenienced having no car for 3 days and relying on other people to take and pick you up from work, it wasn't a priority. I will never take my car back to them again. Peace of advice, if your that busy, stop taking in customers cars that you don't plan on getting to for a of couple days. I have always gone to this sun devil for my typical maintenance issues. About six months ago I needed to replace my coolant system which I did. I had issues a couple months later with the system leaking fluid and it ended up being a faulty radiator cap which I replaced, they did comp my next oil change. At my most recent oil change they told me I should replace my radiator cap so I was obviously frustrated. They did a warranty check and the brand new radiator they put in was cracked. They did replace that under warranty. The second I drove my car off the lot I was having issues with the transmission. I called them the next morning and they basically said that they never touched that system and I would have to bring it in to get it checked but that was a completely different system. I had no desire to bring it back so had it checked by AAA and I had zero transmission fluid. After it was all disconnected for the radiator repair it drained and clearly they never checked it again. Luckily I got it checked out somewhere else within a few days before my transmission failed. I'm giving 2 stars because overall my history with them was fine until I needed something other than an oil change. I'm definitely done there. I started to call to update them and hung up because I imagine they don't really care which is how I felt about the whole experience there. read more

The workers are friendly and seem professional but they had my car for more than 24 hours longer than they were suppose to and when I got it back there was grease all over the door handle on the outside and when I got in it there was grease all over the inside handle of the door and on the armrest as well as the floor. It also smelled like someone had spent the whole day sweating inside the car. To me this is basic stuff that should never happen when you work on someone's car and very unprofessional. read more

If I could give A0I would give a 0. We took our vehicle in there to get the air conditioning fixed. We were given a written estimate and a verbal assurance the vehicle could be fixed. When we brought the vehicle back on Monday morning because they're closed on Sunday, all of the sudden there was more parts and pieces and more issues on the work order they said needed to be repaired that were not verbalized to 2 grown men one who is the mechanic, and the a legit manager behind the counter then stated he didn't feel comfortable working on the vehicle. However he wasn't the 1 working on the vehicle it was 1 of the gentleman in the back. I have used these guys for years, I will never ever ever used these guys again. Shady business practices at best. I will be contacting corporate and I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau about this period this is mind blowing. A 15 year customer lost forever. read more

I have used Sun Devil Auto for many years. I recently had a repair done on my 16 yr old daughters car. Sun Devil replaced the A arms, axel, both front tires, suspension and radiator, $3900 worth of repairs. Just 14 hours after getting the car back from Sun Devil the bolt that holds the A arm fell off and the front left tire fell off. In those 14 hours the car was driven on the freeway to Scottsdale and back to Gilbert. The mechanic that stopped to help after the incident and the tow truck driver both said that if the tire would have fallen on the freeway my daughter and niece would not have walked away. Sun Devil fixed the tire and refunded $1600. I asked for a full refund, due to the seriousness of the incident. They said no because many of the repairs were done correctly. I have since switched repair shops. read more

I took my car to Sun Devil Auto for an oil change prior to driving to California. I barely made it to Maricopa before my "low oil" light came on. I pulled over and checked the oil level and it barely registered up to the low line on the dipstick. I called Sun Devil Auto and explained the situation and the manager said, "It shows we sold you the correct amount of oil on your invoice." I explained that just because I was charged for the correct amount of oil did not mean they actually put the correct amount in my car. I had to add another quart of oil to my car to complete my trip to prevent the "low oil" indicator from coming on again and again. So I say, buyer beware if you decide to use Sun Devil Auto for your oil changes. read more

This place is a joke, I had an oil leak and even pointed them the right direction telling them I believed it was the oil filter housing, they embellished everything and quoted me 1,000$ to fix like 5 things that I knew wasn't the issue, long story short I drove to auto zone and fixed the oil filter housing o-ring which took about 5 minutes as now there is zero leak so either these guys are either dis honest and grimey for an up sale or just amateurs. I came in needing an oil change and he genuinely told me what else was needed on my car (a new radiator on my 2000 RAV-4 with the original radiator). This place is a complete scam and i'm surprised nobody has sued them yet. If you're a brand new customer they will try to lure you in by being very friendly and honest (when I first went there they fixed one of my inner lights for free). However as time goes on they will start to rip you off, it's how they do business. They will give your extravagant prices, attempt to fix car parts that don't need to be fixed, and play mind games with you. Do not fall for their friendliness and tricks. They probably hired Seth because he's very friendly and a "people person," but in reality it's all an illusion. I am talking to all the house wives I always use to see in there getting their cars fixed. Don't let Sun Devil rip you off. The last thing that happened to me there - I didn't even realize it until I had to get my battery checked, but it turns out that as I was inserting a new battery into my truck, I noticed that the battery Sun Devil put in before was 2 years OLDER than the current year for which I came to them for a new battery. I went in the other day to figure out why my break light and traction control light were on they said they were going to do a test drive and even allowed me to come with even drive if I wanted. I let them drive and I'm glad I did the guy driving power cycled a few controls during the test drive and at the very end of the drive the lights went off and the car worked perfectly again! they even waived the $5 inspection fee so they basically fixed my car for free!!! I have taken my car in a few times to get an oil change. Every time I take it in for a simple oil change, I end up "needing" at least $2,200 of work done on my car. The third time I took it in for an oil change I asked them to take a look at the alignment because I had hit a curb. I got a call from them and apparently I had hit the curb really hard because everything was either broken or bent and they were going to have to put in an extra part so they could adjust the tires a different way. I was confused because the car was driving perfectly fine. But I still believed them. I decided to take it to a different auto shop to see how much it would cost there. But they found NOTHING WRONG. They couldn't even figure out why I was there. So I took it to a third auto shop. And - NOTHING WRONG. I was shocked because I had really trusted the boys at Sun Devil. So sad that they are so dishonest. I'm angry that I trusted them the first times and gave them all that money to fix nothing. EDIT: Wow, thank you for that response. But I think I'll trust the TWO other auto shops that could have made money if anything had actually been wrong. Thank goodness they didn't try to take advantage of me. Stay away!!! I've had two major repairs done there and they will never touch another car of ours. Totally screwed up the first major repair sending my wife home with no transmission fluid in the vehicle. I though maybe it was an honest mistake. Took another car there for work and they put it back together using parts that aren't right for the car! My nice little sports car now has its back end in the air instead of being level because they used the wrong springs. And they say they can't fix it. No refunds no working with you. Told the store they would be losing all my business (we have multiple vehicles) they're exact words "ok" there lack of concern should tell you all you need to know about how much they value customers or quality work. Just find another shop Edit: so much is not true about your reply not even sure where to start. So I'll just say for my fellow yelp peeps the new shop that has ended up working on my car now was able to locate the springs in 2 minutes. From multiple sources..... including Mazda! I was not aware wheels had ever been changed those are the wheels it came with when I bought it. Did SD know they where the wrong springs when they installed them?? Lol if they did they never got my ok, so I'm guessing they didn't they just Frankensteined it together And you would think any decent shop would check ride height after working on a suspension. Just sloppy. Also to say I decline their offer to make it right is another blatant LIE. They never spoke to me. I later found their terrible offer on the printout they gave my wife when she picked up the car whom they also didn't speak to. "If YOU buy spring we'll install them" LOL I already bought springs when I paid you (overpaid) for the repairs, you just used the wrong part. Also had the AC repaired at my new mechanic for a fraction of what Sun Devil was quoting. And I got the car back with all the right fluids intact! read more

Let me begin by saying that I have never written a negative review, ever. However, after my experience with Sun Devil Auto on Val Vista and Warner, I am compelled to share my dissatisfaction. Six weeks ago, I took my vehicle to this location for a "free inspection", as the air conditioning was not working. The inspection was not free, and I was charged $140.00 for recharging the system. Although I was not happy about the charge, I paid it, as we were needing the vehicle for a family vacation. After EIGHT MILES of driving, the air was blowing hot again. We cancelled our vacation, and took the car back in, to be told that repairs costing $210.00 needed to be made. Because we were already in for $140, we decided to have the work done, and rescheduled our vacation. After driving the vehicle twice, the air once again was not working. We again had to cancel our vacation and took the car in for a third time. They "repaired" their mistake, and days later, the air was once again blowing hot. Today I took the car in for a FOURTH time, asking that the problem be resolved or that I receive a refund for the $350 already spent. After inspecting the vehicle a fourth time, I was told that an additional repair costing nearly $500 needed to be made. I, of course, asked for a refund, as the air is not working any better than it was 6 weeks and four visits ago. I was told that a refund could not be issued. After spending hours on the phone with Sun Devil and their corporate offices, I received a PARTIAL refund. My confidence in this organization is completely shaken, and I recommend that all steer clear of this "business"!! read more

After leaving the Ford dealership and being told I had a thousand dollars I needed to spend on a corroded battery and engine wiring harness I took it here, whom I have always trusted. They looked at it cleaned the corrosion off the battery and harness to find nothing was wrong. I said I would just buy a new battery then. They tested the battery and it too was fine. They applied a protectant on battery posts and sent me o n my way. Did not charge me a dime. Honest shop that has always treated me well. Glad my warranty is out and I'm not forced to have my car serviced at Ford anymore! read more

Wow! I came in today with my 2 year old and a dead car battery. It was a rainy day, already stressful as it was and just needed my battery replaced. Travis was prompt and friendly and had my car fixed in less than an hour, despite the many cars in the bay. To top it all off, the issue wasn't my battery it was that something was lose, keeping power from getting from the battery to the car. They fixed it for free, and sent me on my way. At the end of a crappy day, this made it so much better.
