This company is in the business of scamming people I went In to this auto shop due to my passenger mirror motor off the track and continuously trying to move and making a noise. The manager told me that I would need to replace my entire mirror and it would cost me $500.....$500? For a new mirror when that was not the problem. I said no and took it home to look it over , I ended up taking the mirror off placing it back on the track and putting it back on 100% fixed in under an hour. Absolutely insane. This business has lost my business forever, as well as never recommending anyone to come here in fact I will turn them away. I would have spent some money to have them do what I would have done at home if they would have given me an honest quote. BACK STORY : I had my battery replaced before this at Walmart and I went back thinking it was a glitch and the employee even told me it sounded just like the track was off the motor and it was an easy fix . I was extremely impressed with the service provided after a recent breakdown of my car. Originally I tried to work things out with my previous mechanic to get my car towed. After waiting for several hours at the location, I ended up calling an Uber driver to take me home for the night. I call up these guys first thing in the morning and explained my situation to them. Barry was more than helpful and ensured that they would have my car towed and looked at the same day. I only had to drop off the keys. He was very respectful and understanding of my urgency to get back on the road again. Turns out the cooling fan came lose while driving and as a result the radiator was damaged and had to be replaced. They were able to get me all back up and running the same day. Amazing! Wow, I'm back again with these people. I don't know if they are a huge rip off or just won't admit they don't know. Please don't go there if you have a diesel engine! They charged me $500 plus for a thermostat and then tried to tell me I needed a new particulate filter for $3600. That's odd because I found an actual diesel mechanic and the fix was $75. Car is running like a top. Can't imagine if I had listened to them and spent all that money for nothing. If a business is reputable they should just say we don't know or can't fix it. Had a dead battery that wasn't under warranty through CarMax and they weren't available to swap it out, but they recommended Sun Devil Auto for a quick replacement. Matthew told me the repair guys stop at 5, and from where I was I wouldn't get there until 4:50 so I asked if I could make an appointment for tomorrow first thing. He told me "Naw come on in we'll get it swapped out for you. Don't want to risk you getting stranded out there." Just as I suspected I pulled in 10 minutes before the repair guys stop, but he took my keys, took down my info, and was out of there in under 30 minutes! And their batteries have a 5 year warranty! It's not bad but not great, just think they could work on the customer service piece, still don't understand why mechanics have such a hard time calling people back ? Brought my car in today to have the brakes and shocks checked. I was in a bad position, they could have told me either was needing replacement or repair, but they didn't. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! spent 1,300 on repairs and they broke the glass in my daughters car and also broke the plug under the dash so it couldn't be inspected! Of course the manager Barry got incredibly defensive and denied any of it! Their customer service person is a complete joke as well!!!! Said they fixed the plug under the dash "as a courtesy to the customer" and it the plug still isn't fixed! this place is hilarious. They're also very reckless and its easy to tell they lie. Let me make sure you all know this, their "good' rating is created by people that work there. This PLACE IS A SCAM. so I did my due service for the public and examined this place since I live so close. Oh ya, I use to be a car mechanic : ). so I told them that my car air conditioner system doesn't work, told them that I had an issue with getting cold air, this one dude tried to think he's a great helper to society and told me" those gauge in the stores don't work". I almost teared up and laughed, so I continued the discussion and that dude totally bought it, and showed me how only a 6000 machine will actually give you the "real pressures" on an ac high/low pressure. so I let them evaluate my car and he told me he would be willing to be so nice to give me the great price of 1400 to change the compressor. at one point, I almost slipped up and told them that if there's a small difference between high and low that's how you would know the compressor is bad, but I caught myself and continued to act like I don't know anything. wow, nice. ....here's what the real problem was with my car... dirty air cabin filter , 18 dollars at pep boys or auto zone. If you think about going to these guys be aware they might do damage to your car to tell you that you have this or that problem. Its ALL A SCAM. they pray on the unknowing, and if you go there, and you don't know enough about cars, they will charge 1000. pick up a book, get on youtube, read about what's wrong with your car, and learn how to fix it yourself, so you don't get prayed on by mosquitos. Update on 4/6/19 in regards to the comments underneath my review: Let me make sure people understand that this "A.A" person is defending a corrupt business. A.A., just because you respond to defend sun devil, and tell your side, doesn't mean thats what actually happened. What your stating, and what really happened on that day, is not true. Think about it....what do I gain by lying? what profit do I make by lying about this company? only reason I am doing this is because I don't want people to be prayed on and victimized by companies like this. A legitimate company doesn't continuously quote that they have been in business for 40 years. BTW, this is a franchisee, meaning that the owner of this shop doesnt own the company, but purchased it and "rents" out the company's name. She did not create the company. Fact 1- employee states that my compressor was bad without checking air cabin filter nor making sure compressor fan was working or leaks in line. Fact 2- my compressor was optimal and cold air coming out of passenger seat - this is a Freon issue/ cabin filter issue usually. Fact3- technician drained all of my oil and Freon from my car WHICH I OWN , never returned it. Fact 4- employee stated that all the Freon has to be removed before pressure can be checked. Any mechanic knows that's not true. Your business is a scam and I hope I have exposed you guys enough. If I find out that my air compressor is not optimal anymore you will have a lawsuit coming. As a visiting snow bird I noticed it was time to get my oil and filter changed. I checked some places out on Yelp and decided to give Sun Devil Auto a call because it was close to where I was staying. I called yesterday and they made an appointment for the next day at 1100 hours. I asked if they kept to their schedule and they assured me they did. I got there a little early and they got to my car right away. I am sure it took less than the 45 minutes they said it would, however I didn't check my phone to confirm that. They also rotated my tires and informed me of some things I wasn't aware of due to my cars mileage. I declined that but will do some research on scheduled maintenance. After to talking to BARRY on the phone about my brakes he said they were open at 7am and to bring my car in, did business with them once before, the next day when I got there he told me in a very rude and unwarming voice that he would not have any mechanics there until 8:30am. I asked to him why didn't you tell me that on the phone, his reply was well that's the way it is, I told him he wasted a lot of time for me as I work, he looked at me with another careless look and said well I don't have anyone here to work on your car, we don't have mechanics til 8:30am. I will never go to Sun devil for anything, I felt alone and no customer service or empathy. Someone needs to tell BARRY if you don't like your job get a new one, and if you can't give it 100% then find a job you can. He just wanted to get me in there for business with no regards to me, it was obvious when I got there, but he should have the courtesy to take the little bit of customer service for me to stay. There is nothing worse. I was nothing to him. Of course I left but before I did, I mentioned to BARRY I will write a review on my experience, and believe me I have only written one review in my life before this, my time is worth more but this needed to be said. Customer Beware: Do your research on the costs of parts. SunDevil Auto identified that there was an issue with the turbo return coolant pipe. They mentioned the car got so hot that the hose melted. Rather than replacing the hose only, they replaced both parts for $476.80. I later come to find out that the part costs under $100 And was not in need of replacement. I requested before and after photos. They mentioned they had forgotten to take them but gave me the part back. They did not give me the hose back because it was so badly damaged they had to dispose of it. I was charged $4.68 to dispose of the new parts. The hose went onto the recycle bin and I paid $4.64 for a price of my own car. I had a similar issue a couple of months back. A "full diagnostic" was performed at that time. Understanding that things happen over a period of time but it turns out that a "full diagnostic" does not look at all aspects of the mechanism, just the assumed problem area. Each visit to this place costs a minimum of $500. I would not recommend going here. read more

I have taken my vehicles to Sun Devil since I had a drivers license. This particular location has serviced two of my high milage trucks for over 5 years. I drive 60k miles per year, and rely on my vehicle for my job. Barry understands my needs as customer and his technician's work has always been above satisfactory and completed in a timely manner. At times my budget does allow for everything their technicians find. Barry works with me to keep my truck safe to go down the road so I can make money to take care of the minor issues later. I need to have faith my trucks will make it doing regular 2000 mile trips and after having my maintenance and repair done I can focus on the drive and not the guages. read more

Before scheduling, I confirmed the quote included the labor for the front pads as I could not see it. The reply "Sir that quote was for the rear brakes only. Just got new tires and they said to come in for alignment. Four hours later they called and said they could not align my car because all 4 ball joints were broken. Shop is unprofessional as they come. Firstly, they start with the usual mechanic upsell which I can understand they need to make their money but they were being so pushy about it ended up coming across as annoying. Secondly they took 4 hours for an oil change because they decided to take another vehicle right before my pre booked appointment. Lastly on a tire rotation they stripped the lugnuts on one of my wheels and were unable to rotate. I drove across and with tire gauge in hand asked a gentleman if they had an air pressure machine. He told me to pull around the side. They were extremely busy but made some time to squeeze me in. They diagnosed the problem within five minutes and had me up and out of there in under an hour. Decided to write a review after today, after going to these guys for a year. These guys run a busy shop, and you might not get service with a smile at peak times or at the end of the day (I can relate), and I've heard them yelling at each other at times, but when it comes to customers, they're honest and professional. From other reviews, it looks like they even take the time to respond and admit mistakes. So today, I called up about getting a headlamp bulb replaced that was under warranty. I lost the receipt, but Barry was able to look it up after about a minute. Barry was about to just give me a free bulb because of my continued business ("since you've already spent so much money here") when he found the record of the service anyway. I asked to get my other headlight resurfaced since I was there. They resurfaced both (really just touching up the other), and charged exactly $0.00 on that other headlamp. Yep, free replacement bulb. No charge for hourly labor. And they shuttled me home while I waited on the work to get done. I mean, perks like this aren't set in stone, except maybe the shuttle, and I'm not going to expect this every time, but hey, it was a good thing. Headlights look plenty clear to me, and though Anthony did recommend I consider replacing them both, he didn't press the issue when I said I had to think about it. read more

Just had my 2008 Tundra repaired. My Car AC stopped working completely and I brought here to sun devils and they were able to diagnose the problem and repair all the areas need it accordingly in only a couple hours!!
