Had some transmission issues that were intermittent and decide to let these guys check it out. After having my car all day they said there was NO problem. They said drive it till the problem shows up. I was back the next day and the tech jumped in the truck with a computer as I drove. He was unable to diagnose any sensor issues and said NO charge. Later the vampire Jason called for the diagnostic fee. Hey I could tell you as much as they told me for no charge. Don't go to this place. I'm not sure if it is a lack of knowledge or care, but this place is only here to try and get you to spend money on extra work and labor that didn't need to be done. My last experience here they wanted to open up my manifold to service my car, they wouldn't give me any idea or a hypothesis on what could be wrong, but it was mandatory they open it up. They wanted me to basically write them a blank check. I called a local small business shop and told them my issue, and he was able to tell me 3 things it could be and with that knowledge I was able to fix the car myself and save more than $600. Wow. I reviewed this Sundevil Auto 8 years ago when I had a completely different car. I'm back again to report that after 8+ years, I am still taking my car here for service. My friend picked me up from Sundevil recently and asked me why I bring my car there. As i explained why to her, i realized, maybe i should write a Yelp review that reflects what I just said. In short, as a woman, I have had to go to royal battle with repair shops, both manufacturer and non-manufacturer. From being charged a level 4 Mechanic rate to restick my rearview mirror to my windshield to going up the corporate chain about the transmission on a brand new car that I'd just purchased. You name it.... People have tried to dick me around. So, naturally, when I walk in a garage for a repair, my entire guard is up. That said, over time, this particular shop has earned my trust. When I bring my car to this shop, i can feel assured that when I ask for an oil change, they will ask me what type of oil I want and will not automatically put the most expensive oil in my car (good thing because more than one shop has received a request to REMOVE your $125 oil and put mine back.). If I bring my car here to Barry and team to check my brakes, they will tell me honestly if i need the repair. When I walk in, i know that there will be no intimidating conversation about what "else" I need to do to my car. From the perspective of a lady who usually handles her car repairs, I can honestly say that they meet my expectations for trustworthiness. They are the ONLY shop I can say that about. They deserve the 5 stars for that alone. On top of my feeling comfortable with this shop, I have been happy with their services and their prices. Competitive and fair pricing. My repairs haven't been major, but the one that have occurred have been satisfactory. As i prepare to transition to another car, i know where I'll bring it when my warranty is up.... I was happy with their services in the past, but today arrived at 1:05 48 1 o'clock oil change that I scheduled a week ago and was told they already took another car in my place and I would have to sit there all day or come back another time. Even that was fine but I did say as I was leaving that five minutes leeway should've been given regardless for a regular customer and he clapped back, but I'm lucky I wasn't arriving at a doctors office because they would've gone ahead and even charged me. I came here because I had a coupon for $20 off of an oil change. Honestly, when it comes to the oil change itself, everything was fine. When it came to everything else I was very unimpressed. When you walk in it's a very confined and dirty space that makes you feel pretty uncomfortable. You can hear every single word that's said to anyone in the waiting area. After waiting for 45 minutes, one of the mechanics asked me what I was doing. I said "waiting for my oil change." He then told me it will take all afternoon when I had already been waiting. The next phase was that they told me I was going to need about $3,000 worth of repairs on my car. Even if I needed that work done, they up-charged the price for everything by at least 500%. I got my oil changed again because I went on a trip and they said my car was fine. The only thing they said was trivial was the air filter and they could replace it for $80. Sun Devil said they would charge $400 for it. This place is the classic scam the customer and I don't recommend coming here. read more

I was disappointed to the extreme in my most recent experience at this auto shop. Sun Devil used to be a place that we trusted but after going through an ownership change they have gone downhill. Recently I took my vehicle in and was given an estimate between 1400 - 2000 dollars in regards to problems with the cylinders. They offered to change the oil but I declined and reiterated that I just wanted the problem cylinder replaced but not to have work done that I didn't agree to. The morning after dropping the truck off I called the shop and said I didn't want any cylinders replaced, I just wanted to pick up my truck to weigh my options. The manager told me they changed the oil, which I never wanted, and already pulled multiple cylinders, he began telling me that it would cost between 4 and 5 thousand just to get it back into shape to drive away from the shop. He claimed that I agreed to that level of work even as I reminded him that I only agreed to a max of 2 thousand dollars. His tone was argumentative and disrespectful during the entire call as he pressured me to get more work done, now saying the quote was $2500 as the numbers kept changing. I would think that someone who claimed to work there seventeen years would know treating a customer with respect is the way to get return business. At the end of the day, I picked up my truck after paying $2000 only to find it reeking and covered with grease stains on the wheel and dashboard. My seat covers were so dirty they had to be immediately washed. It seemed that my truck was trashed as petty punishment for not agreeing to their demands. After everything, it seemed that this establishment was trying to price gouge people as recent stimulus checks arrive and don't care if they have staff who try to take advantage of women just to make an extra buck. Unfortunately, we will now have to find another mechanic in the valley area because Sun Devil Auto can't be trusted anymore. read more

Greedy! They emptied my freon and said they replaced it.. however, it was nitrous they left in NOT freon. My ac has been running luke-cool so I took it back to them, they asked me to keep it there overnight I picked it up today, my ac is running HOT even on the freeway. Poor experience last year and this year. These guys do horrible work & are greedy. Wow, the worst ever!! I never left an auto shop with my car in worse condition than going in..especially after giving them my business and a thousand dollars. Labor about $150/hour and mark up is the highest mark up. Never would recommend, refer or suggest this place. They are dead to me. The owner loves his saying "I charge enough to be honest" that's so lame especially when he charged me a thousand bucks for ac compressor and didn't do the dryer. 2.5 hours of labor = $1,000. We bring both of our cars to Sun Devil for regular oil changes/maintenance. We have a 2016 Mustang and a 2009 Flex and both have been taken care of well at Sun Devil. The manager is super attentive, communicates clearly, everyone is professional and nice. Always paying attention to details.. when we first moved to the area from South Carolina our Flex was having issues and still under warranty - it was taken care of promptly and professionally. I definitely recommend Sun Devil Auto! *Update: My daughters boyfriend took his car into Sun Devil today for the first time (with our recommendation) and it turned into a nightmare. Very unprofessional. Repairs were started without notifying him first. Then used full synthetic and instead of explaining it to him the gentleman behind the counter told him "don't worry about it". My husband was then threatened by another man working at Sun Devil who said, "We can take this outside." Because my husband was frustrated with the service? The manager who is usually kind and communicates well did not step in to resolve the issue professionally (hopefully he's just having a bad day). We will not be recommending Sun Devil anymore. My honest opinion is that they are running a scam. The Flex that we purchased from CarMax and the Nissan that was repaired today and also purchased from CarMax both had leaking air compressors? Which causes the AC to not work properly. It's disheartening because I definitely feel this matter could have been handled on a much better level. SCAMMERS, is how I can define this company SUN DEVIL AUTO. In the month of May, we took my car because the air conditioning was not working. They told us that we also had to repair the radiator because if not they could not guarantee that the air would be good. We paid $ 139.00 for them to tell us that it would cost $ 1,700 to get the air conditioner fixed. We were told also told with this payment the work would be guaranteed. It took us 3 months to save up this money. In July we returned so that the air could finally be fixed. According to them they fixed it and they tell me that I have a 1 year warranty for the air conditioning and about 3 years for the radiator. Within 1 month I see that the air conditioning is working the same as it was when it broke down. Again it has the same problem. Finally the air conditioner stops working complete and I return to SUN DEVIL AUTO to validate my warranty and they tell me that my warranty is not valid because now another piece of air conditioning that not working and now they are asking for an additional $ 1650. I went to get the air conditioning fixed, NOT some of the parts! It is presumed that since THEY HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHECK TWICE they could determine which parks were not in working order. I paid them a total of $ 1,690, money that I still owe as I borrowed it. I did this because it was hell with this weather picking up my children from school. To know see them arrive with a headache due to the heat, and for these THIEFS, SCAMMERS to tell me that from them to fix the same air now I have to pay another $ 1600. How can I pay more than $ 3000 dollars just for the air conditioning? The car itself is not worth this kind of money. I do not know about car parts, I did not go to repair some parts of the air, I went to repair the air conditioning. AND THEY CAN KEEP SAYING, THAT IT'S ANOTHER PART, BUT IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE FIRST TIME (In the traffic when the car stop, the air doez not come out and sometimes it is hear as if the balloon lost air, as the air goes). It's the same problem, THEY HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHECK TWICE THEY COULD DETERMI E WHICH PARKS WERE NOT IN WORKING ORDER. read more

I think this is the most and the closest I'll get to actually liking my frenemy - Sun Devil's...just a little puppy love. ;) I'm always hesitant to bring my car in to get it serviced. You just never know if you're going to come back home with lemonade or just the same rotten lemon you started with and a couple of game tokens left in your pocket. Luckily, my car made it safe from freeway to shaded parking to this auto shop. Thank you God! These guys found an initial problem with my radiator. I did price quotes and checks. They do offer 10% for ASU peeps. Sweet deal! Then later with more checks, my ears were almost bleeding when he mentioned the word "engine". Ugh. Barry gave some honest advice and options. Decision: to buy an engine that could or just the radiator w/fingers crossed? Radiator plus fingers crossed. Cody and Barry helped me throughout the process. I am not one to write reviews but I am so impressed with the quality of service and the prices this place offers! I have taken all of my cars from my old Honda Accord 03 to my Toyota Corolla 16 and Barry and the staff always takes care of me. While their up front about any problems my car might be having or any additional maintenance it needs, they have never tried ripping me off for it like other places do. They drove me all the way to work that day while working on my car. When I went to pick it up, it was a small issue that didn't cost too much to fix. I have always taken my car to Honda for service. I decided to take it to Sun Devil Auto this time and it was a great experience. The manager Barry was very helpful and polite and informative. I didn't have an appointment and, maybe I was just lucky, but they got me in right away. They were busy but they still got me in, got the service done, and I was out of there much faster and more confidently than my experiences at/with Honda over many years. And the price was much less than expected - so that was really awesome!! I had my little dog with me and she was allowed to wander (on her leash) around in the waiting area freely. Barry even got down and played with her - which she LOVED!!! Both managers took care to ensure that we were very well taken care of. I appreciated that a lot. And my car is doing great!!
