    Seafood bird nest
    Cory C.

I've been coming here for many, many years (for as long as I can remember) and the quality has remained consistent throughout. This Chinese barbecue restaurant has the best soy sauce chicken I've had - the soy sauce has just the right touch of sweetness to contrast the saltiness and the meat is tender and flavorful. Their other meats (barbecue pork, roasted pork, duck) are solid as well. We often stop by this place on the way to or from Toronto. On my most recent visit, we ordered Cantonese chow mein, seafood bird nest, and sizzling beef tenderloin in chef's special sauce. The chow mein was crispy without being overly greasy. The meat, seafood, and veggies inside were all fresh and delicious, as was the gravy covering all of it. The bird nest also contained fresh and tasty seafood and veggies inside a crunchy potato "nest". And finally, although the beef "tenderloin" wasn't really tenderloin (it was a cheaper cut that was tenderized with an enzyme powder), the sauce and onions smothering it were sweet and delicious over rice. This is our go-to restaurant in Windsor and I highly recommend it!

My partner and I found this gem on Yelp prior to our trip here to Windsor. We both knew we wanted to try their food. By the time we were all checked in to our hotel, it was already past 5pm, and I was happy to see they're on Uber Eats. We were too tired to go dine in or pick up our meal in person, so we ordered takeout delivered to our hotel. I ordered some roast pork -- it's some of the best I've ever had, the skin is soo crispy and to die for (if you know anything about Cantonese style BBQ, the skin is the best part and highlight of this dish). For the veggie dish, I went with their spicy garlic green beans, which we both loved and breathed through. We each ordered our own box of salted fish and chicken fried rice. Everything is delicious, I've had better fried rice that was seasoned better. However, I do appreciate how the natural flavor of the salted fish flavored this rice rather than soy sauce or something else. I'm so happy we ordered from here, and I'd definitely come back and recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for traditional Cantonese style cuisine and barbecue.

My family and I went here for our New Years dinner and it was a very good experience. Though the service was a little slow, the food itself made up for that. The food was very delicious. The portion size was quite large and not small at all. The prices are quite affordable for most students and families as well. The waiters were very nice and friendly to us and we had a great experience with this restaurant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and family members and will definitely be a regular.

Love this place, staff treats you like family and the food is spiced so cleverly. I would highly recommend their fried rice dishes, the stove is hot enough to give the rice an authentic fried taste, and incorporate the ingredients together perfectly. Price is fair for the portions you get and the flavors that come with it--would definitely be back here again next time I'm at Windsor!

What a great, authentic dining experience! Huge portions, at really reasonable prices. My family of four could have left more than full on two dinner specials. The wonton soup was one of the best I have ever tasted.

The food isn't great, my mom went to buy BBQ pork from these people and my mom trusted them because they said there's not much fat and mostly meat...so she didn't look at what they put into the box, and when she brought it home...most of it was fat and greasy

    Singapore noodles.

Had the fried noodles. They were so bland and tasteless and not at all what the menu described. Will not be back again.

There was a 2 top table at the back that we were seated at - we could have sat at the bar also - and it was a great spot. We ordered the tasting menu and WOW, every course was amazing. I'll post pics because the presentation was gorgeous for each item. They have a small cocktail and wine and beer selection, but that was fine. My son got their Shrub Mocktail and I got the Shrub with Sake. Both were delicious and so interesting. I can't pick a favorite item because they were all so good, but the Torched Mackerel and Poached Bosc Pear were tied for #1, followed by the Salmon, Oysters and the crazy good Blood Orange dessert. The shrimp toast was just ok for me, not bad, just not as good as everything else. Additionally the service was outstanding. For a tiny place they did everything right. They explained each course, brought out fresh utensils for every course - YEA! - and made sure we had good pacing. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and enhanced our meal. I really want to come back and try the oysters and some of the tinned items. I'm so excited I found Mink and will be back for sure.

As others have mentioned, seating is somewhat limited, but that only adds to the excellent service and intimate experience. I wish I remembered the names of our server and the manager because they were incredibly kind, accommodating, and helpful throughout the evening. One example of the thoughtful service: I was torn between two white wines, and since my partner ordered one of them, our server offered to bring a small sample of the other so I could compare and choose what I liked best. We also mentioned that we had never tried caviar before but didn't want to commit to a larger portion. They suggested a "bump" for $5 each, walked us through how to enjoy it properly (on the hand, letting it warm slightly), and made the experience feel fun and approachable. We were seated at the bar, which gave us the opportunity to chat more with the server and manager and watch the team prepare dishes for other tables. It genuinely felt like sitting at the chef's table. We both opted for the tasting menu, which changes from time to time, and we were very happy with the selection. We also added the lobster roll, and our server thoughtfully timed it so we could enjoy it alongside the warmer course. The meal began with two different oysters, one topped with caviar, giving us another chance to enjoy it. Next was the shrimp cocktail, which included wasabi--but not in an overpowering way. The flavor was present yet balanced, allowing everything else to shine. The escargot course was especially creative and delicious, paired with basil oil, pepper jelly, and hints of balsamic. While it might sound unusual, the flavors blended beautifully. I expected the pepper jelly to dominate, but it was surprisingly subtle. Next was the potato pavé served with a scallop. The textures were remarkably similar, and the scallop was cooked perfectly. The lobster roll was very good, though I personally found the bread a bit denser than I prefer--I usually like a more buttery, Texas-toast style--but my partner loved it. The turbot followed, accompanied by a chestnut beurre blanc that was incredibly silky and flavorful. It paired wonderfully with the king trumpet mushrooms, black truffle and the fish. The final tasting course was the petit fours: three small cakes--matcha, red velvet, and ginger molasses. They were slightly dense, but still a nice way to end the meal. We also added the house-made basil ice cream (because the basil oil earlier was so good), and that was an excellent decision. Although my birthday had been a few months earlier, once the staff heard we were using a birthday gift card, they surprised me with vanilla ice cream, sprinkles, and a candle--such a thoughtful and unexpected touch. They also treated us to a small glass of dessert wine. By the end of the night, we knew we had found our new favorite place to celebrate. The overall experience is absolutely worth the price point, and I only wish more places were like Mink. We can't wait to return.

And, one good thing about going to Mexican Town (the neighborhood) is that, if one restaurant has a long wait, you can go to another one nearby that is also very good. This is how we ended up here. The atmosphere here is...well, you don't go here for the ambiance. It's a mostly open space with tables. I like the brick in certain sections, but the area is mostly utilitarian. As with other situations like this, it honestly makes zero difference to me. I'm not here to stare at the walls and look at the decorations. I'm here to eat. The eating starts early, because you get a bowl of the most awesome tortilla chips, with hot and mild salsa. These are crunchy, flawless, freshly made chips, and you will definitely want to buy some to take home with you. I got the Chilaquiles. I'm very happy to report that they have other Mexican dishes with eggs, too. The refried beans were smoky and delicious, unlike the tasteless mush you get it most places. The rice was a nice accompaniment. But, the eggs were overcooked. I still liked stuffing everything from the plate into a tortilla, and topping it with hot sauce, but it would have been better if the eggs have been better. We got fried ice cream, of course. They are different here than anywhere else I have seen before. Instead of bringing out a crunchy ball of fried goodness, they bring a ball of ice cream that they ignite. It took a long time to burn down, so we had to blow on it and roll it around a bit before we could eat it. It was delicious, but I would have liked a crunchy coating on it. The prices were reasonable, and the service was ridiculously fast. We got freshly prepared meals not long after placing the order. And, we got a gargantuan bag of those amazing chips to go. This is a great place to go if you want a large amount of tasty food in a hurry.

Much to my delight, they had a drink special on Sunday which was their house margarita. The botana came out as a mound of chips and toppings, overflowing on the plate. It's hard to distinguish from nachos but from my observations, there are a few characteristics that are specific to a botana: specifically chorizo and refried beans are mixed together (mine was without chorizo) and specifically muenster cheese is used. The traditional toppings are onions, green pepper, avocado, tomato, and jalapeño sliced and laid on top. I am also seeing that botana is often sliced into "wedges" with a knife for consumption but I went the nachos route and ate it chip by chip. It was very good but similar enough to a very distinct kind of nachos. I'm glad I tried it. GF's tostadas were enjoyable as well. I specifically liked their chips, just thick enough to hold onto toppings but crisp and salted perfectly. Margaritas were tasty, very flavorful and got the job done. Good spot.
