Five years ago when my fiancé (who, for the last 4+ years now has been my husband) was looking for my engagement ring and our wedding bands, he exhaustively searched through many jewelry stores locally in the San Francisco Bay Area, and also online, before finding Sun Jewelry's website. Since he is an engineer, he has extremely high expectations for things being as perfect as possible. He also had some general ideas of what he wanted our three rings to look like. Not only was there nothing to be found elsewhere which even came close to the features and design he had in mind, but also the quality for the price at Sun Jewelry was so far beyond everywhere else. Truly, Sun Jewelry is in a league of their own! He started working with Abit (one of the owners of Sun Jewelry) over the phone and emailing pictures and slide shows back and forth. Eventually, the designs were far enough along that we decided to go to Los Angeles and visit Sun Jewelry in person. We saw samples of their stunning jewelry and just talked to the staff (Abit and his sister Ferah) about life, random things, et cetera for more than an hour. We also picked out a primary diamond for the center stone that we would buy if we decided to purchase from them. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and really didn't want to have to leave. Also, there was no sales pressure. When we left, we told them to not start on making the rings because we were still thinking and would get back to them later. The next week we pulled the trigger and they started the work to make them. Because Abit was giving us such a great deal and our wedding was not for many, many months, we told Abit to take his time and work on them as he got a chance. So, after some weeks, the work was far enough along that Abit invited us to return to LA (if we wished) to see the progress and make sure we liked what it looked like so far. After seeing the half-finished rings in person, my picky husband decided he didn't like the head of the ring exactly that way, and Abit said, "Okay, I will change it for you." Also while there, Abit took us to one of the distributors where he purchases his stones from, and let us experience the searching/interactions that go on between a jewelry manufacturer and their suppliers. We got to watch as he shopped for and found 24 of the minor stones which would be set around the major diamond. What a unique experience! We returned to SF while Abit continued to work on the rings. Some weeks later they were almost ready and we went back to LA again to watch the final manufacturing process. Because my fiancé had not been completely satisfied with the head fixture of the engagement ring during the previous visit, Abit left the main diamond off and let us go sit with a craftsman as he sculpted the head fixture down from a rough shape into the final elegant form. The craftsman sculpted it as we watched, a few mm at a time, until it was finished to our EXACT specifications! It was PERFECT. Then we watched as the diamond was set, and the final polishings were finished on all three rings. Finally, we went back to the showroom where we met Abit and Farah's Dad for the first time. I've been meaning to write this review for over a month now... my fiance found Sun Jewelry through all the great Yelp reviews so we took a trip downtown to start the engagement ring search/discussions. We met with Abit and just got a great (honest) vibe from him so we kinda decided then and there to work with him for my ring. I went through Pinterest and found a few rings that I liked and took the images to meet with him again (he was very patient with our numerous visits lol) We went through these images together and designed a ring that took elements from all of them but is a ring that's "so me" (that's the response from everyone who sees the ring!!) He had an extensive knowledge of the store's products and answered all of my questions without losing patience with me.
