This place is so fun! Great drinks and environment. There is indoor and outdoor seating. It is such a great place to be when the weather is nice. There is a deck upstairs, as well as lots of seating right outside with this big green space where kids and families can play. also some ping pong tables down in the space outside. The drinks are awesome, featuring a lot of local beer and cider options. I love the Ash and elm local cider. Another thing we love is that they have rotating frozen drinks. Some of our favorites have been frozen hot chocolate in the winter, piña colada. There are also three places to eat within this brewery. You can go order and then take the food back to your seat. There is a place with chicken/fries, a place with tacos/nachos, and a place with pizza. The only reason I'll knock off a star is that sometimes the service isn't perfect. read more

Okay this place is super hit or miss. Sometimes the service is incredible. Sometimes the service is more yikes. The food is always good. The drinks are always good. That's never been an issues. But it took us 5-10 minutes for anyone to come take our drink orders and it wasn't very busy? Happy #YelpsBigNightIn folks! We've been here MANY of times, but most recently stopped by for curbside pick up (during quarantine) of their newest orange vanilla cream ales. You heard that right! They made a new twist on a classic favorite and it's absolutely delicious. On a typical night (not in quarantine), you can come to Sun King Spirits and know you'll have the best of nights. From their outdoor lawn with fun seating, bench swings, ping pong tables and more to the their rooftop patio and fun indoor bars, there's something for everyone. Literally everyone too - all ages are allowed inside! Inside, there's four food vendors: Pi Indy (pizza), La Margarita (Mexican food), The Den by FoxGardin and there was Oca, but it's recently been replaced by a different biz that now sells a variety of sandwiches and a brisket mac n cheese. You can go up to any of these food stands to order and you'll be given a buzzer to come back when your food is ready. In the meantime, you grab a table and a bartender will come by and ask what you want to drink (only drinks are table service). Now onto their drink menu: if you're from Indiana, you already know they brew some of the best beers in the state (and in my opinion, the nation), with their cream ale and mexicali being my favorites. They also started distilling liquor at this location, so you can also choose from a wide range of cocktails and interesting mocktails (one of the few places with so many cool mocktail options). If you still haven't caught on to the idea that this place is a lot of fun, note that they also have tons of games inside for you to bring to your table and are also located on the Monon, making it a fun place to bike or walk over to. Located in the town of Carmel, this spot is lit. There is a parking garage across so no need to worry about parking. Lots of outdoor seating and games like billiards and pingpong. Seating is self seating. Two floors with a variety of seating. There are bar counter tops you can order from, or a server will comes to your table. LOTS AND LOTS of drink selections. They do beers of course, cocktails, and best of all, margaritas. The margaritas are you out of this world. The best, and i mean, the margarita I've ever had. It did come mixed with their pechamga beer inside, which could do a lot with the flavor! I don't think I've had beer and margarita mixed together. Too bad I live across the states and won't be able to come back just for this. They have a shared kitchen for food with lots of companies. Togo beers can be purchased downstairs. SunKing is a fun place to hang out especially in the summer. I love all the outdoor dining options (tables, chairs, swings) and they have a big yard and ping pong for other fun activities. At SunKing, I like that there are multiple options to choose to dine so everyone can get what they want. Only negative is if you are in a group and want to order different places, usually one or some people get left at the table while others order which can sometimes be a long wait. That is the main negative I see since you can't order food at the table. I'm not a huge beer drinker but I have been a big fan of their sunlight orange cream ale- I think it tastes just like a dreamsicle. We came in the winter and were able to easily find a table inside (at the time it was open seating but when coming before in the summer I know it was not this way) - they even had firepits outside if you preferred to dine that way. SunKing also has carry out options- much cheaper to buy a 6 pack this way if you plan on drinking outside. The 6 pack is the same price as you would find in a grocery store as well. Overall, I like the environment of SunKing and definitely plan on coming back! read more

I can't believe it took me so long to visit Sun King Carmel! I met a friend on a Wednesday night and grabbed a table outside. Within minutes, a server stopped by to take our drink orders. I tried two different IPAs (you can order half pint sizes). Drinks came out quickly. The location is amazing! Right off the Monon and close to free garage parking and many other businesses. There are lots of options for seating inside and out, including kid-friendly spots. Inside, there's multiple mini booths: LaMargarita and FoxGardin for food and a spot to buy SK merch. I wanted to love this place. It seemed like a cool concept--a brewery with a food court in a hip part of Carmel. Seems like a cool place to hang out with friends for a drink, no? Unfortunately, my first experience there left a bit to be desired. Our large party was able to snag a table upstairs on the deck, but then it started raining, and the patio umbrella was only large enough to cover one end of the table. So the rest of us got wet. There is no other cover outside. It seems like there was only one guy serving the entire upstairs area outside. Service was VERY slow. I had asked him for the daily kombucha flavors, and he never got back to me on it. I ended up ordering the Velour Soccer Mom sour ale. It was a really good drink, but quite pricey. I went to La Margarita to get a La machaca burrito bowl, and the line moved very slowly, and the food took a long time to prepare. They ran out of guacamole, too. :( The dish was pretty good, with very generous amounts of meat cooked perfectly that was tender and delicious. But it would have been better with some guacamole. The pizza line was much faster and the food came out much faster, but the pepperoni and mushroom pizza was under cooked with a very pale and soft crust. read more

My friends and I had been wanting to stop here for a while. Yesterday evening we finally made the trek (by bicycle) up to Carmel to check it out. Quite impressive! There are several seating areas to drink and/or eat (upstairs tables, upstairs patio, upstairs bar, downstairs tables, downstairs patio, downstairs bar), and each seems to have a slightly different vibe. There is also an outdoor game area with things like ping pong, billiards and corn hole! We sat at the bar upstairs and enjoyed learning about the various spirits (theirs and others) and drinks from the friendly bartender. I chose the Mint Condition cocktail, made with Sun King's Agave Spirit. It was nicely strong and utterly delicious! It's going to be hard to make myself try something else next time. I did try my friend's Mojito (the rum was overpowering), and we both agreed that my drink was better. We didn't eat this time, but I love the fact that there are four different food vendors to choose from. Everyone in the group ought to be able to find something appealing here! read more

This place is great. The ambience is perfect for the bustling downtown area of Carmel. Welcoming place for family and friends, lots of activities for the kids inside and outside, several different food options, and a good variety of beer/drinks. There's something for everyone. I've been extremely impressed with one of their newer servers, Ladarius (and no, I don't know him nor do I get anything for calling him out). SKS is my new favorite hang out in Carmel! The layout is amazing and allows for large groups to gather together. La margarita is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Indiana so I was very excited to see it was in the food hall. I didn't try the other restaurants but they all smelt amazing. When you sit down you order your drinks through your waiter & then pay separately from your food. They layout of the place is more like a "cafeteria" or food hall so you can choose whatever you would like to eat from the restaurants. I would even mix & match and get a few food items from each place! #Genius The drinks were delicious as always with sun king! This Sun King is one of my favorites! I feel like all of them have such different vibes to them. This one had an awesome outdoor space that I've watched the World Cup and spent summer afternoons on and has a great patio upstairs to host parties or just a nice view of Carmel. The food here includes La Margarita, Pi Indy, The Den by Foxgardin and Goose the Market. It's right off the Monon so very accessible by bike or foot and has parking around the area for cars. There are also other restaurants that you can dine-in within walking area so a great place in general to congregate. read more

This is my third (different) food hall experience and all have been similar...concept is killer, interesting mix of possible eats and a mixed bag when it comes to meal outcomes. This version was no exception. Once completed, this spot is going to be rocking! The location, views and overall spacial layout are great and will lend itself to some lively evenings and weekends, for sure. We tried a sampling of dishes from three of the four food stands...our results below. The actual Sun King brewery section of the space has a huge selection of beers and cocktails to choose from. I was very pleased with my beverage choice as it paired well with both our Mexican and Pizza dishes. The chorizo nachos from La Margarita were three times as large as a regular plate of nachos piled high with chips, meat (chorizo), two sauces, etc.; it was by far the best dish we had. The buffalo cauliflower dip from OCA was just average, the cauliflower was kind of mushy and there was a ton of bread, chips and veggies and not a ton of dip. We ended up taking some of it home. We also tried two pizzas from Specialty PI...the veggie lovers and another concoction; neither was fantastic as both crusts were undercooked making for a less-than-memorable experience. Wish I could offer more, but it seems my food hall experiences have been spot-on the same from Pittsburgh to Cleveland and now Indianapolis. Sun king does it again with their Carmel location. This location is wonderful and I especially like the food court style set up restaurant where you can order food and pick it up. The Mexican restaurant is wonderful and the food is delicious! The variety of beer and spirits at sun king carmel is always nice and refreshing, so you can go wrong with their selection. The rooftop outside area is supposedly very nice and they have a bar where you can order drinks. I have yet to go out on the rooftop deck, but hope to do so the next time I am at Sun King Carmel. The highlight of the meal was Taylor F. She was our table server and could not have been more helpful. When Sun King announced plans for the Carmel distillery almost two years ago, I knew it would be big. This is a great addition to the SKB family and I'm thrilled they chose to place it in the growing Carmel Midtown district, with enhanced Monon Trail improvements on the way. This is a large, two-level space (thought it does get quite busy on summer nights). Be prepared to wait for food and beverage. Seat yourself and a waiter will come get your drink order. For food, you order at the individual stands for Pi Indy, La Margarita, OCA and soon-to-be The Den by Foxgardin. Personally, I don't drink much so I'm thrilled they have 4-5 mocktail selections and a delicious purple nonalcholic slushie (Hucklesaurus Rex) on the menu (with option to add alcoholic floater). I think the service needs some work (managing drink orders during busy nights) but I trust that will get better over time. read more

This place is alright! I visited on a particularly busy summer day when most people had the day off, so there were lots of people milling about and it was really crowded. We were lucky to snag a table on the first floor. Speaking of floors, there are two floors to explore, and both have full bars and restaurants. On the first floor is where you will find charcuterie, sandwiches, hot dogs, brats and the like, as well as another Mexican restaurant with tacos, chips and salsa, and guacamole. On the second floor is a pizza restaurant. We got a couple of beers (Freedom Rock and Osiris) and an order of chips and beer queso. The beer queso was made with white cheese and it was a little thin, but the chips were super crunchy and good. We were fortunate to visit without children in tow this time, but I saw lots of kids here, so it's definitely kid-friendly. The only places where kids are not welcome are the bar areas, which have signs that say the areas are for adults 21+. There are even high chairs available, as well as a kids menu at the Mexican restaurant on the first floor. read more

Sun King Spirits just opened and conceptually it's great. The food hall style means you are free to grab food and drinks at your own pace. This makes for a more laid-back experience and opens up more opportunity to choose different options. During a weekend visit, there was a steady stream of customers but the tables turned over fairly quickly. If you are there for drinks you are welcome to hang out at the bar or patio. On the drinks side, there are house and specialty beers similar to other Sun King locations. The spirits are a new endeavor but I don't think they are distilling their own just yet. They are collaborating with local and regional distilleries and have cocktails and flights to choose from. I did not partake in the slushies but that would be on the agenda at some point. There are non-alcoholic options as well for the under 21 crowd (yes, SKS is an all-ages establishment). The food options include OCA, La Margarita, and PI pizza. These are decent choices and I think they can fulfill food orders fairly quickly. Speaking of which you just order at the counter and eat at your own table. There should be enough variety to satisfy everyone. With all the surrounding construction in Carmel, Sun King Spirits feels like a lone wolf but in due time the area will fill out. It's actually a good location near the Monon between Main St. and City Center. SKS can be a one-stop shop for food and drinks but also close enough to other establishments and happenings. read more

Everyone can get what they want if ppl are in the mood for different things.. couple that with delicious drink options, a great roof top bar, area close to home, kid friendly, good service... and I'm sold! Eating options are currently: Mexican, smoking goose, pizza. We weren't really hungry so just got chips/dip. I LOVE that you can just get a little extra cup of dip for $2? If you just want to try the various kinds. The beer queso was good, but I think I preferred the salsa. I'm just looking forward to the construction coming to an end and maybe some more halls!
