Although Fidelity Home Warranty initially ordered the wrong compressor, Rob refused to leave the parts supplier until they provided the correct one. His dedication and determination to get the job done right saved us from waiting even longer in the Arizona heat. My experience with SSR was great! Steven came out and assessed the situation and ordered parts, which were received quickly within a day, and he came back out to install. Unfortunately, one of the parts was bad out of the box (not his fault at all!) and he had to run back and come back later in the day to replace it. He also identified another issue and came back the next day to replace the control board. Unfortunately, the AC overheated due to some faulty wiring and Sean came out and quickly fixed the issue. Dorena in the front office was great texting me throughout all these work orders (did not have the pay for Sean to come out). Dorena also offered advice on how to find reputable vendors for a different property we have which they don't service. Everyone was honest, reliable and trustworthy. I was referred to sunstate air conditioning by Fidelity insurance ! I paid my fee and they came out and said I had a leak in my coil and turned off my unit. They told fidelity their insurance would not allow them to repair my leak! I am now left with out any air and they won't reconnect anything . I was assigned to this company by my Warrenty company, the tech came and looked like he had no idea what was the problem in our AC unit. He blamed it on cooling pipes needs to be cleaned and it would cost 180$ to do that before they can diagnose. I told him not to worry about it. Called an outside company not through the home Warrenty, tech was able to diagnose the issue within minutes of looking at the unit. I am absolutely blown away by the level of service provided by Sun State Refrigeration, and specifically by the two wonderful technicians Rob and Steve who came out to my home. They were more helpful, skilled, and knowledgeable than any tech I have ever had for any type of home service. Rob went over every single item/area they checked with me point by point and had even taken pictures of each item so I could see and get a clear understanding of my unit. He made thoughtful recommendations for what I should replace and even what I could replace but didn't necessarily need to. Rob empowered me by physically showing me the various areas to keep an eye on if I suspect a problem which will allow me to feel more informed when calling for service in the future. It's also important to note that they were very respectful of my home and wore boot covers and a face mask every time they were inside. Additionally, a warm thank you to Sun State's owner Sean who we connected with personally about maintenance, and to Doreen for her fast and helpful assistance booking the appointment. I highly recommend Rob with Sun State Refrigeration ( locally owned family business) As a 30year+ Realtor I've run into many HVAC companies over the decades and this is a good company as well as they have a very personable and competent Technician named Rob. The Central A/C stopped working in our AZ property on a late Saturday morning in June. Temperature about 106 degrees, hot, sunny and oppressive. We called the home warranty company and they sent our work order to Sun State Refrigeration. Since it was a Saturday, we were pretty sure at the earliest it would be a Monday service call. We were okay with that since we were planning a stay-cation due to Covid 19 public entertainment restrictions. We went to a Hotel resort with a pool for Sat and Sun. Best thing to do when you have 3 kiddies under 10 years old. Monday, Rob from Sun State refrigeration came about 3pm and worked on the unit, took about 1.5hrs. Because we had a home warranty everything was covered and we only had to pay the Trip Charge to the Warranty company which was $75. We had a failed Run Capacitor and motor, Rob replaced it. I also had Rob do a Chemical Cleaning on the outdoor condenser since we didn't have an annual cleaning for over 3 years. Results were very impressive, hadn't seen our unit that clean in ages!! That was $150 and felt it was very reasonable. My wife and I are very pleased with Rob and Sun State. Rob took the time to tell what steps he would take as well as he answered a number of questions such as: what size ac unit should a 1800sqft home have to cool it properly, (approximately 1 ton per 400sqft of building space) additional Information on Freon(r22) vs Puron (r-410a) laws and usage(not illegal to use freon, just can't use in new a/c systems(there are other topics for clarification, but won't talk about it in this review), type of filters to use( Pleated Rheem Filter, change every 30days or 6 weeks) and other questions. If I could give this company zero stars I would. I came on here to leave a review after the customer service gal was yelling over me, laughed and hung up on me. I've never in my life had a worst experience with a company and it sounds like other people have had the same experience. I truly cannot believe how unprofessional and flat out rude this company is. Unfortunately they were the company dispatched by our home warranty company but if you have the choice DO NOT use them. First the services techs came didn't even greet me with their names or anything just walked right in the door had no masks or shoe coverings. Then when they discovered wiring was disassembled they used electrical tape to repair our ac. Then to top it off gave us an invoice that said "replaced wiring" after looking at what they claimed was fixed I was baffled. I simply googled how to fixed wiring and it was completely different then just using electrical tape. I could have fixed it better myself. When I told the lady on the phone they used electrical tape she said "well is it working now" that's beside the point they didn't fix it the right way and basically put a bandaid on it. It's almost like they do that on purpose so they get future calls cause they know it's not going to hold up. It was completely unacceptable and substandard to say the least and to think they are going to bill our home warranty with "replaced wiring"? They are ripping people off and when you call them regarding it they freak out on you and hang up. So immature and unbelievably unprofessional. I'm calling the home warranty company to have them dropped. They not only treated me terribly but aren't taking the precautions necessary to keep me and my two small children safe from covid exposure and obviously don't know how to repair ac units property. They should not be doing business or treating their customers the way they do.. sad there are people out there that retreat people this way. read more

Had a home warranty claim and asked for a call to let us know when they're on our way since we had errands around the area to run. We got a call at 128pm that we did miss, but to tell us the tech was on the way. At 132pm we got a notification that the tech rang our doorbell. As we're calling the tech back, he is standing there at our porch ignoring our calls. We called close to 10 times because we did not want to miss the tech as we were only 10 minutes away from the house. We even texted the number. all calls and texts were ignored and never returned. We have 5 kids and our AC unit is completely down. So naturally, we call the office 4 or 5 times over the next 2 hours and finally someone decides to answer the phone. She basically argues with me and tells me she will try to send someone right out or we may have to reschedule. Something that could've been prevented if they had a higher standard of service and professionalism. it's been 24 hours and they're refusing to pick up any calls or texts since the last communication. We're not rescheduled and have no idea what's going on. I honestly have no idea what to do. read more

I am very impressed with the stellar customer service that Sunstate provided. Dorena called to set up our appointment (came to fix our ac the same day as the call) and was very friendly. She was also compassionate to our situation of our house being over 100 degrees inside due to the broken ac. Rob and another gentleman came out and were very friendly and explained everything. They even had the courtesy of wearing protective booties on their shoes so as to not track dirt in the house. Just a little disappointed in the fact that I could not reach them for the first part of the morning and left a message and nobody called and I had to call again. Two words: Amazing service! My husband and I were super worried because we smelled some musty smells coming from the A/C vents, and since we have a new baby I immediately was scared of mold in our house! My husband called Sun State Refrigeration and Dorena was professional and nice. Sun State Refrigeration was not only quick and prompt (they came to our house that within hours of our call), but they were professional and thorough with their examination and cleaning of our unit. Luckily, we ended up not having mold, however, our unit was in need of a heavy duty cleaning. Mark was amazing! He went in and explained everything that was going on with our unit to my husband. I had a broken A/C experience this week. In phoenix it's pretty horrible to lose A/C in Aug, so we called Sun State on Monday (8/11).. They came out the same day and investigated my unit outside... they discovered my fan motor was bad and my capacitor was going bad and replaced those. We all thought it'd be in great shape now, but no, that night it was still broken. No problem, I called them back and we discovered on Tuesday (8/12) that my compressor was out. This unit was from 2002. I already had no hope in it, but Sean was confident it could be saved. He went back and got pricing for a new compressor but also for a new unit. We discovered a new unit would only cost me $200 more than doing the compressor and praying that it would hold out for a long time after that. So I went with a new unit. They were good in that they gave me credit for the parts from the first repair and my new unit works amazing, I was back home the day it was installed (we left, too hot, It was put in Thursday 8/14.) ... I appreciated that they tried to fix my old one though before selling me a new one. Most places I hear just sell a new one and that's it... they didn't do that until it was the last resort, and they didn't make me replace the inside fan and things too, either. My only complaint is very minor. Kind of minor I guess. I got charged the labor for the installation of the motor and the capacitor. While I can see both sides to this: I feel like since that didn't fix it, and I didn't wind up with any of those parts, it felt slightly unfair to need to pay for that after also purchasing a new unit. Everyone was very friendly and I would for sure use them again and recommend them, but paying for labor when nothing was actually done that fixed anything was sort of unfair to me, I do understand the techs need paid for their time, but I feel like the broken compressor should have been caught on the first trip... Very nice company though, excellent workmanship (they said the old one's installation was pretty bad, so I'm glad this one was done right, I wasn't here when the old one got installed.) read more

I seriously will never use another AC company. A couple years ago my ac was making weird noises. I had two companies come out to look at it and give me quotes on what was wrong. One said it would be about $9k because I needed to replace my unit, and all the parts throughout my house. Sun State came out and fixed it for $350 and told me they don't recommend replacing it because it's not that old. Fast forward to yesterday. I emailed them around 430 am when I woke up and heard an awful screeching noise coming from my unit. Dorena had someone at my house by 10 am, fixed by 11, and I didn't even have to be home, even tho i have dogs. They are honest and affordable. Highly recommend them! read more
