    Friday afternoon refreshment

I have to pretty much beg hubs to stop here after lunch in Wahiawā today. The price is so reasonable for 3 flavor cup under $5. I also ordered a take home pint of mango for our after dinner, about 8:15 pm dessert. I really love the taste of their blue colored vanilla.

    Lychee slush float

Soooooo ONO!! I've lived on Oahu my whole life and this was my first time here! I had lychee slush float and my son shared the green river shake with his little boy. I've been craving that slush float ever since. I think we need to make this a weekly thing!!

We all remember when COVID first started, as we had to hunker down at home and be isolated from others. And what do you do when you're home all alone? While some people were bored, others flourished, such as Maka Perry and her mom, Brandy Perry, who loved local snacks and started experimenting with their one-of-a-kind ice cream and sherbet recipes. Sunbeams Creamery was chosen as their business to represent Hawaii's beautiful weather. With Maka and her mom already living in Mililani and that her dad was working out of the second floor of a small building in Wahiawa as his administrative office of industrial waste management business, Maka opened Sunbeams Creamery in Sept. 2021 in the midst of the pandemic. To this day, she operates out of a small window shop of a small room on the ground floor of that building. Sunbeams Creamery originally offered the perfected sherbets and later expanded to homemade ice creams, sherbets, drinks, slushes, waffles on a stick, li hing gummies, acai bowls, and more. Maka's two brothers, Puiwa and Malie, assist with the marketing. Their goal as simply "to create a simple childhood taste that reminds people of simple times." And it appears that Sunbeams Creamery has successfully focused on this goal based on the tasty local snacks that we grew up with that they offer. These include: * Sherbets and shakes. Flavors include honey dew, strawberry, blue vanilla, li hing gummy bear, cotton candy, green river, mango, and fruit punch. You can choose two or three flavors of sherbets, as well as pints. Add-ons include condensed milk, whipped cream, mochi balls, rainbow and strawberry popping boba, and ice cream. * Sodas and slushes. Flavors include strawberry, lilikoi, cotton candy, honeydew, pineapple, blue vanilla, green river, lemonade, ramune, lychee, banana, pog, coconut, li hing gummy bear, and grape. * Sundaes. Choose between mochi waffle and keiki ice cream sundaes with original, ube or chocolate toppings. * Treats. Choose among mochi waffle on a stick, corn dog waffle style, popcorn (hurricane, cheddar, or sour cream and onion), li hing mui lemon peel gummies. * Specials. Easter Sundae has vanilla ice cream, cotton candy and blue vanilla sherbet, whipped cream, Easter sprinkles, and Peep marshmallows. Based on availability, Sunbeams Creamery also offers acai bowls, Italian sodas, additional flavors for slushes and sherbets, pudding cups, as well as "La-Qterie" chocolate covered bananas and "Hui Got Mui" gummy treats made by other family members. Follow their Instagram for any daily updates. They also do catering and can provide 4 oz. cups of sherbets. I ordered the following: * Sherbet of strawberry, blue vanilla, and honey dew flavors. Love the vibrant colors of red, blue, and green and how each had a distinct flavor that was true to taste. So creamy and not overly sweet! Very similar to the sherbet from Tasaka Guri Guri on Maui, except it's softer. Hubby and I loved it and ate this on the bench near the window. * Strawberry and POG slush float with vanilla ice cream. This was very refreshing and flavorful, true to the taste of strawberry and POG. Hubby and I took this to go and enjoyed it on the long drive back home. Loved the delicious taste and that it was not overly sweet. There were so many flavors that you can mix and match, and it was hard to decide which ones to get. Thanks to personable Maka who took my order, as she was so very helpful in helping me to get the three most popular flavors of sherbet and surprise me with flavors of the slush float. Good choices, Maka! Love her smile and passion for her business which I could tell how much she loves her local sweets and how excited she is in sharing that with everyone! Don't forget to get your punch card - buy 10 sweets and get one free 8 oz or $4 credit. Hours of operation are Mon, Wed to Fri from 1:00p to 6:00p; Tues from 1:00p to 5:30p; Sat/Sun closed. Sunbeams Creamery is located next to First Hawaiian Bank. And one of my favorite stores in Wahiawa, Duke's Clothing, is directly across the street. Look for the order window and note that there is no store that you can enter. Free parking is available, with two spaces at curbside directly in front and behind the building, which is normally used by the dad's business. We can't wait to return to Wahiawa to try Sunbeam's other treats and flavors! We wish Maka and her family much success in her new business!

If you're looking for a cold treat on hot days, you should definitely stop by this cute family owned shop. The owner and her kids are super sweet and definitely have the aloha spirit when speaking with customers. Keep in mind that they never stopped smiling and her son was super polite when bringing my order out; he thought I was alone and offered me a bag or something to carry all the items in. Treats: I got a regular sized cup of sherbet (honeydew melon, strawberry, and fruit punch). Although the sherbets were all tasty, creamy and perfectly sweet, my favorite was the honeydew melon. I also ordered a chocolate shake, corn dog waffle style, Mochi waffle with chocolate syrup, and Li Hing Mui Lemon Peel Gushers. Everything was amazing! The corn dog was had a nice crispy exterior and the hot dog itself was flavorful and had a nice snap to it. The Mochi waffle and chocolate shake were also really awesome! My husband really enjoyed the shake and I loved the texture and flavor of the Mochi waffle. Although I drove from town, it was definitely worth it! I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back to try the slush and other Mochi waffles; or just get the items that I ordered today.

This little family owned business in Wahiawa truly exudes Aloha! Came by 15 minutes before closing and was greeted by 1 of the business owners Brandy. She was so friendly and helpful as I ordered nearly everything on the menu, lol. We chatted a bit and she told me that she and her husband opened the shop right before the pandemic started and were happy to have been able to pull threw. Her husband teaches hula free of charge next door to the shop and they use the proceeds from Sunbeams to fund the expenses for that. The shop is run by them and their son and daughter. Now for the treats! Everything we had was amazing! I Absolutely love the light creamy texture of the sherbet and that the flavors are just subtlety sweet. The waffle dogs taste like a corn dog but without that heavy outer crust. The waffle perfectly encases the hot dog without all the extra dough. They aren't dripping oil and the hotdog isn't salty. The mochi waffles are chewy and delicious. My favorite of the 3 was the ube but I also really enjoyed the chocolate with chocolate chip cookie dough. I would pass on the vanilla in the future but would like to try the mochi waffle with condensed milk. The lihing gummy bear slush was good but didn't really taste of lihing. It did however remind me of the red gummy bear flavor and the added scoop of ice cream gave it a little added sweetness and creaminess. I will definitely be frequenting this spot and can't wait to sample all their sherbet flavors and their milkshakes and sodas. I should also mention they have a Yelp check in offer for a free add on! If you're in the area or feel like driving out to Wahiawa please stop by and support this amazing local business!

Cute little snack shop in Wahiawa, located on the main road on California Avenue next door to First Hawaiian Bank. Lots of street parking, and a few parking spots located in the back. We were 4th in line and waited 45 minutes for our order. I loved the sherbet! not overly sweet, smooth, and creamy tasting for a sherbet. I ordered blue vanilla with vanilla ice cream. Mister ordered the strawberry with strawberry mochi and he really liked it too. We were satisfied with the smallest serving. We also got the cheddar popcorn. It was pre-packed, tasted stale, skimped on the cheddar.

Finally got to try Sunbeams Creamery at random while taking a stroll through Wahiawa. They have this store front (ordering window) located next to First Hawaiian Bank across Koa Pancake House on California ave. This spot offers all kinds of sweet treats from their guri guri-like sherbets, shakes, açaí bowls and more. We decided to try just their regular sherbet scoops with mochi topping. We got green river, strawberry, white rabbit, and the dole whip which was dairy free. My fave was the classic strawberry and dole whip. And the mochi balls didn't freeze into hard chunks, nor were they stale from sitting. It was all honestly a 10/10. And the girl working was super patient and helpful when our indecisive selves struggled to pick our flavors. She was so sweet. They take cash and card, have a little bench to post up and eat your dessert, and there's lots of street parking available nearby. They're only open Monday thru Friday from 1p to 6p and keep in mind they get busy with the after school crowd, so plan accordingly.

What a great place for a small dessert treat in Wahiawa! The regular came with three options so I got to try several different flavors. Blue vanilla was super tasty, the honeydew was just like melona, and the mango was excellent with a perfect blend of sweet and tart. Staff was incredibly kind and there was even a small line on the street. The menu has several options including milkshakes or even açaí or sundaes. There's street parking nearby and is a great stopping point for a snack coming to and from the North Shore!

Overcharged. I ordered 3 ice creams and it came to $26. I asked how many items did I order and she just punched the register buttons and said $13. It could have been a simple mistake, but I was just overcharged $20 at the Smoking Boar right before this. And the day we landed the taxi charged us $56 from hnl to Waikiki but wrote down $45 on his log book. I'm telling you it was like this the entire trip. Two years ago I had no problems whatsoever or previous trips. Be fair to the tourists people because we are already paying your inflated prices. Not planning on going back anytime soon. Ice cream was great otherwise.

This is the cutest little window with the most delicious sherbet! I had the dole whip and lemonade flavor and it was so good. It wasn't overly sweet and was the perfect texture. There are so many other flavor options too! Definitely coming back to try the others.

Wahiawa in the summertime can get H. O . T. and finding a place to cool off can sometimes be tricky. Luckily, this new biz is here to help! Tiny and a little unsuspecting this literal hole-in-the-wall is helping to keep the community cool. Conveniently located on California Avenue, this biz offers a wide variety of snacks, treats, and goodies, that'll have you reminiscing on those nostalgic "small kid kine times." Funnily enough on my most recent visit, there was a small group of kids on bikes that had pulled up to the window to order their treats... That instance really reminded me of my childhood and pulling up to your local snack shop for an afternoon snack. That, is exactly what Sunbeams Creamery exudes. A simple, family owned and operated snack shop, sharing nothing but delicious goodies and aloha. Parking can sometimes be tricky but this biz conveniently has a few street parking stalls out front.

Ube mascarpone pancakes!…read more I've dined here and at the Aiea location a few times. To my surprise, Guieb was introducing an updated menu when my friend and I visited earlier today. Our server explained that the menu is more streamlined with favorites. He mentioned that all pancake dishes can be interchangeable to waffles and that the waffle in their chicken and waffle dish can be any flavor! can My friend and I ordered new menu items, the Aria Plate for her and Da 3-Bite Feast for me. We enjoyed our plates! I love when restaurants offer samplers of sweet and savory breakfast items. The ube mascarpone pancakes were as legitimately ube and not too sweet as ever. The crab cake Benedict was great with a crispy crab cake patty and the poached egg a good medium (huge improvement from the bao bun Benedict I ordered for takeout years ago). The egg from the Wagyu loco moco was cooked exactly like the over easy I requested. The meat was moist and the gravy was flavorful. Good to know I don't always have to get the same ube mascarpone pancakes every time! One of our servers seemed a little hurried when my friend just arrived, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. I gently reminded him that my friend needed time to look at the menu. (Maybe he got too excited, haha!) The rest of the staff were friendly and attentive. I seem to forget about Guieb's parking in the back, or even the 1-hour parking around the block. The closest untimed street parking I'm aware of is near First Hawaiian Bank a couple blocks away. Guieb Cafe Wahiawa is always a favorite whenever I have visiting family and friends, or for loved ones moving away.

****CHECK YOUR RECEIPT PRIOR TO PAYING****…read more ****CHECK YOUR RECEIPT PRIOR TO PAYING**** I had lunch with my wife and had a wonderful experience (she had the country fried steak and I had the Korean rib-eye with an order of 4 beignets [2 of the Ube and 2 of the Strawberry])... ...until I got the receipt for our meal. The cost for the whole meal was reasonable until I saw the price for the beignets that were the special menu item. THEY TRIED TO CHARGE US $25.00 for 4 beignets. (For reference: Price was: 1 for $2.75 or 4 for $10.00) I only ordered 4 (two of the Strawberry and 2 of the Ube so my wife and I can try both flavors), which should come out to $10.00. I confronted the waitress about the mistake, and was very apologetic about the error. She returns to the register to fix it and the total came out to $11.00, not $10.00. The math doesn't make sense. So I approached the waitress and she said and I quote: "We charge the $2.75 price because you ordered two orders of two different types of beignets. Since each cost $2.75, the total comes out to $11.00". THAT WAS NEVER MENTIONED WHEN THE WAITRESS TOOK OUR ORDER OR WAS NOT PRINTED ON THE MENU WHEN WE WERE LOOKING AT THE ORDER I asked her why wasn't this mentioned while we were ordering it, even though she was present when I was having the discussion of the beignets to my wife. All she did was apologize but didn't change the ticket. I didn't want to cause a scene, so I paid the bill and took off. I only state this because even though it is only a dollar, this could have been going on for a good amount of time where they can rack up a good sum of money from customers if they kept this act going. And restaurants wonder why people don't go to their establishments: because occurrences similar to this dissuade people from going out to eat. This is why I check my receipt before paying. *see picture* Don't get me wrong, food was wonderful and the ambiance was laid back and relaxed, but they should make it known of their EXACT pricing before advertising a food item on the menu

The kimchi fried rice was mushy and gummy nothing like fried rice. It was barely warm so I know it was prepped far in advance and held which may have made it more mushy. It would have been better off if they just dropped everything into the rice cooker, and cooked it the night before. Then when an order comes in stir fried it then. Oh and there was no kimchi in my fried rice. They used the base to season the rice which also makes the rice mushy. On to the scrambled eggs. They were rubbery and dry.
