My husband & I are in Venice Beach, FL for a wedding and staying at The Kon Tiki. Suncoast Café is a 10 min walk away & we were delighted by the food, friendly service, and interesting scenery. I enjoyed the Flight Attendant omelette, my husband had the Benny and the Jets (their take on an eggs benedict). Both were absolutely delicious! The place was packed and they just sat two 8 tops when we arrived. We were sat immediately at the counter, and got to watch the well coordinated cook staff turn out the meals quickly. Thanks to our server Jessica for taking such great care of us! Be sure to ask for the hot sauce, which is an original recipe that can be purchased by the bottle.

We went early on a Sunday morning to make sure we could sit at a table and watch the planes outside. A waitress was very pleasant and the Caribbean music was playing again ! Hubby's coffee came quickly and the waitress did a great job of keeping it hot. I ordered the bi-plane and I had two yummy pancakes with eggs over easy and lots of tasty bacon. Husband had two eggs, two sausage patties, grits, and raisin toast. He enjoyed his meal. There were lots of planes there, but only one took off while we ate our breakfast

side of toast, two pancakes as a part of The Biplane order.

Sunday, August 17, 2025 - three for breakfast for my birthday after church and before the beach! My wife has been coming here for years with her mom many years ago and recently with friends. This was my first visit. They were NOT part of my 31 breakfast restaurants roundup I did between 2021 and 2023 because they do not seem to mention or do Eggs Benedict. They do have a poached egg item on the menu. (spoiler alert: they would have been 32nd) NOT part of the rating, but as a comment. It seems maybe with the open kitchen and grill setup or maybe it was just this day (I did not ask) but the air conditioning was CLEARLY not up to the task and it was in the 80s in the restaurant..... a bit uncomfortable for sure as we were in church clothes (long pants, socks hard shoes, dress shirt and my wife in long dress etc.) Even in shorts near the windows where we were it had to be mid to upper 80s F. Service was spectacular and all the servers seems gregarious and friendly and a real asset to the place. They kept mentioning the chef and he and the other cooks were out and about bringing entree and checking on a few folks. It seemed a lot of locals and regulars in the off season. (we live in Venice as well year round) My wife ordered what she had before which was the St. Lucian Breakfast Quesadilla Scrambled eggs, cheese, sautéed peppers, tomato, onions and roasted pork inside a grilled tortilla with salsa and sour cream. she got the plantains as well. The quesadillas were pretty wet and she noted little overly cooked compared to the last times she was there. Maybe the packed house and the quantity of patrons had things a little chaotic in the kitchen? The plantains were very oily and wet as well. 6/10 My daughter went with the Biplane. Two eggs and two pancakes with your choice of bacon, ham, or sausage. w/chocolate chips for $1 extra. She ordered the eggs over easy.... and they came properly cooked1 from a yoke perspective. However they were very quickly hot heated/fried with what my family used to call "mom's veil of burnt oil/butter in the bubble pockets of the egg and around the circumference. Not low and slow, but FAST fried. The whites were a little crunchy around the edges and on the surface. 4/10 Her pancakes were a little 'powdery' grainy as if maybe not well mixed or maybe not mixed correctly? not horrible. 6/10 She is a sausage fan but likes to see what is coming out before she orders the patties or the links as this items varies significantly from restaurant to restaurant. So she went with the bacon. there were about 3.5 strips. Absolutely annihilated & over cooked - almost bacon dust. and yet the entire plate had about 4 tablespoons of bacon grease flowing around and the bacon was glistening. HAD to be a fast nuke job on a plate. My daughter was paper towel blotting the oil/grease butter off the eggs and bacon plate as I was taking the pictures 0/10 inedible... her side order of toast had been pre-melted with a patty of butter on each piece and wet and soggy. not touched. 0/10 I got (the birthday boy? (smile)) the Flight Attendant's Omelet which is Fresh mushrooms, onions, tomato, green peppers, and spinach traditionally served with refried beans and salsa. I also asked for NO CHEESE on my omelet? I opted for an English muffin for my bread. Like my daughter's eggs and my wife's quesadilla, my omelet was one could almost imagine "seared" cooked on a hot plate or griddle. Honestly when I first smelled and ate it, the omelet smelled "fishy" or as if it was cooked in the same plate or griddle as the crab cakes I saw on the menu???? the butter or oil at a very high heat? If you dig up the picture here the omelet is dark brown and yet the inside was very wet and just warm? the spinach and veggies possibly stewed and cooked and just added in there but not hot. the egg was not enjoyable and actually dry. Just a very rushed and too quickly cooked egg dish? 4/10 The refried beans were also dry as either a little old or possibly refried - refried beans and just reheated again in the microwave or something. Unexpectedly they had cheddar cheese melting on top of the beans? (asked for no cheese on the omelet but had no idea I need to ask for no cheese on the refried beans?) There was mention of a salsa? but not sure where that was or might have been in??? 4/10 The coup de grâce for my meal was the "English muffin" ? Like my daughters toast, it was buttered all over and inside? and it was COLD!!! It was actually colder than the area I was sitting in at 82 F or so? took one bit but could not chew it. 0/10 This was not a good visit, I am sad to report. And it pains me to share this with fellow Yelpers. Possibly I am being overly harsh because I am typing a 5 outta 5 review for a dinner we had in Sarasota the night before.... this was more than 4 stars away on that scale though. So I am submitting as a 1. (frown)

If it's busy, be prepared to eat and run! Unfortunately, my last visit yesterday, is literally my last. Have been coming here for several years for exceptional, albeit pricey, breakfast and lunch. Food and service again this time were excellent but because my friend and I evidently lollygagged too long after finishing our meal, owner, Chef Tony abruptly came to our table and grabbed our tickets with which we had not yet placed our credit cards, and said in so many words, we had to leave because there were people waiting to be seated. This was shocking and surprising because two different servers had come by and refilled our coffee cups with no indication that we needed to leave while enjoying a relaxing after dinner conversation. I'm sorry I won't go back even though the food is excellent, and the servers are very friendly and fun. But the owner is not!

Ok. So we've been wanting to try this place just a little bit. Got a table by the window so you could see the runways and planes taking off. Not Dulles or anything but nice views of planes taking off. Place is diner-like which I like having grown up in Philly going to diners all the time. Service is very good and servers are pleasant and quick. As for the food I got the Flight attendants omelet - it was dry and not very flavorable. Provolone cheese was just laid on top. Not much else to say. My partner got the quesadilla and it was pedestrian at best. Coffee was ok - regular or decaf. Maybe other entrees are better. Very nice people working there.

Being locals it was about time we came here. So many people had told us such great things and so we decided to beat the winter crowd and came in this past Saturday morning. Thankfully, we got seated right away which was a real treat considering there aren't that many tables! We loved our food! I'd say it's pricey, but special enough where the total bill doesn't necessarily scare you. My son raved about his kids pancake which was adorably designed with fruit (and husband confirmed it was really good). My husband had the St Lucian Quesadilla and said it was probably one of the best breakfasts he's had - loved the flavors of the meat in it. I enjoyed their Venetian Omelet without cheese and it was really fresh tasting. They unfortunately don't have gluten free bread so I had to skip that side. We will be back! It's great for kids (and adults too). We thoroughly enjoyed watching the planes coming and going.

A great little restaurant at the Venice airport. Only saw the lunch menu since my guest and I were there after 11 AM when breakfast ends. Great diversity in the menu with so many different delicious looking foods. The chef from St. Lucia has a good thing going. I enjoyed the crabcake sandwich, which was billed as the best one in Sarasota County. Not sure if it is, but it was a great one.

Another great breakfast at our favorite hidden gem. Love the music, the food and the service. Always top notch! We will be back soon

Corn beef hash was outstanding made in house. I had the iced pecan coffee with fresh vanilla creamer which was tasty. The view of the planes taking off and landing was definitely a sight to see. The private airport was luxurious. Chef/owner was sitting at the front inviting everyone as they entered.

Tony is a godsend to Venice. This little hidden gem is to not be missed. Something as quick and easy as a club sandwich and homemade chips always tastes better at Suncoast Cafe. I kept coming in and ordering the club sandwich and Tony kept pushing the Cuban on me and I kept saying "next time". Well next time as come and I don't believe I have ever had a better Cuban. My wife enjoys his chili and various other soups and chowders. Couldn't have found a better Cafe with excellent staff. read more

We were visiting the area and enjoyed breakfast here on our last day. The restaurant is small but makes you feel like you're with family (the nice kind!). The scrambled eggs have something special--cooked perfectly but the spices make them amazing. The veracruzano burrito was the best my husband has ever had! The French toast is definitely worth a try--made with thick toast they aren't heavy and are perfectly spiced and cooked! We can't wait to come back!! read more

We flew in with the intention of going to Sharky's, but they had such a long wait that we decided to give the airport restaurant a try. We asked the waitress what they were known for, and she told us the Cubans. My husband and I both got that, his with the homemade chips, and mine with the sweet potato fries. The Cubans were okay, nowhere near the best we've had. There's a thick piece of pork they put on the sandwich that would taste far better if it had some seasoning. His potato chips were pretty tasty, and my sweet potato fries (not homemade) were fair. We topped it off with a couple of glasses of very weak iced tea. The waitress asked if we'd like to have dessert, and she said they were featuring key lime pie. Since I've never had truly bad key lime pie, I figured it was worth a shot. For $4.95, we got a tiny sliver of pie colored like I've never seen key lime pie colored (hint-not green in the least). I was horrified when I put it in my mouth and it had this very sticky, almost caramel-like quality! I've always had kind of a creamy or fluffy texture to my KLP, never a stick-to-your-teeth texture. Believe me, do yourself a favor and do NOT try that pie! We enjoyed the view of the runway, of course, but we know of plenty of other airport restaurants with much better food and the same type of view. It was okay food, but not good enough to ever bring us back. read more

We found this place by accident. It is the best kept secret in Venice. The owner/Chef, Tony, was trained at one of the best cooking schools in the world and cooked for cruise lines for years (we sit at the bar and he is great fun to talk to). We are in town for a few months and have now eaten there around 10 times. In most small cafes we typically wouldn't try a grilled fish meal but today I had the grilled tilapia Caesar salad with garlic bread and plantains. It was one of the best meals I have had in Venice. The Cuban is the best I have ever had. My son ate it every day for a week. We ate at the Columbia restaurant in Sarasota, where the Cuban was supposedly invented, and this Cuban was better by far. The chili is great. Whatever you get, be sure to get a cup of the black beans on the side They are fantastic. read more

Breakfast quesadilla very good. Cuban tortilla was recommended and rightly so. Portions are huge. Could only manage to eat half. Place has only 7 tables but with lots of big windows to watch planes landing and taking off. Great service with friendly people. Clean and inviting. read more

Found this gem on TripAdvisor while looking for a local lunch spot. Service was good. Tony brought a plate with 3 small bowls to our table to taste chili, conch stew and cream of mushroom soup. All were excellent. I ordered the shrimp curry (one of the daily specials) asked Tony for medium heat, it came out perfect. My friend was convinced to try the Reuben with the homemade chips. She said it was one of the best Reuben she's had. I highly recommend this place for lunch. read more

We have been regular customers here, but will never be back after the rude and unprofessional treatment we just received. We had just finished our meal and were sitting there drinking our coffee when one of the employees said to us that they had people waiting for tables and asked us to leave. They obviously do not appreciate or value their regular, local customers. Totally disgusting way to treat a customer. The one star is because the food is always great. What a shame. read more

We watched the movie Chef on Netflix. One of the scenes featured a Cuban sandwich which my wife had never experienced. I searched Yelp and saw the reviews. Without a doubt the best Cuban sandwich I have ever had. My wife loved it. The service and friendliness were exceptional. I really do not understand the poor reviews although to be fair we have only eaten there once. We will go back soon. One of the customers said we have to try their Rueben. If you are a pilot, this is a great airport cafe for a meal. On the field, no parking fee if you visit, great food and great service. Have not had a bad meal yet and I have been eating here more than seven years. read more

I have two small children (3 & 6) and they love going to the Suncoast Cafe. The location is great. It's bright inside with a happy atmosphere. My kids actually eat their food here which is amazing and they receive gifts (little airplanes & wiki stix) which they adore!! All the food we've gotten was great! Had a great first experience with my fiancé at the Suncoast Cafe today! The service was fast and exceptionally friendly. There was a relaxed, low key atmosphere (while it was obviously a very efficient, quick to get your food establishment). All of our food was hot, flavorful and of exceptional quality. It was evident that they take great care in the ingredients they choose. My fiancé LOVED his Cuban / cup of chili and my veggie omelet may have been the best I've ever had. Don't even get me started on the home fries and sweet potato fries! They sure know how to cook a potato, lol! Crispy, flavorful (flavor is a huge deal to me! I can't stand bland food) and delicious. It was also evident that there's a "Creole influence" with the spice choices used in the chili. Wonderful! Overall it was an exceptional experience and we will be sure to return! 5 stars from us both! read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. This visit started with the hostess putting us on a short wait, no issue here. Unfortunately she continued to ask all three members of my party, at different times, if we were waiting as with five people on her wait list she could not keep the party of two and the party of three in her mind. Then came the food. The server was nice but clearly flustered and perhaps new, as she struggled to order on her digital ordering system. We ordered a cup on conch chowder, a chicken salad sandwich with onion rings, a side Caesar salad and a Cuban sandwich. The conch soup came out and was so salty I could not eat it, and I LOVE salt. It tasted as though there was a pound of old Bay just thrown in. When I let the server know I wanted to send it back, as it was too salty to eat, she offered me something else. I thanked her but refused. The chef, chef tony then came out of the kitchen to the table to ask who had turned his conch chowder away. Very aggressively he told me he has never had a complaint before and that I was wrong. That is definitely wasn't salty and that his chowder was fine. I have never in my life felt so insulted for sending something back that was inedible. I did not make a scene but simply asked for it to be removed and the chef had no reason to come out arguing with me about what I tasted. Aside from that the other food was not very good. This is not a place I will return to, and I suggest if you like a kind restaurant owner who treats his staff and customer's well,you take your business elsewhere. read more

For the size of the town, Venice has an especially beautiful airport, lots of small planes and business jets coming and going, and a small restaurant on-site from which to enjoy it all. It is only open for breakfast and lunch, unfortunately. The food is fine, but a little pricy for the quantity. Hopefully, they'll adjust that in the future as they get more feedback! I would like to see this chef stay around for a long time. read more

This is a 45 minute flight from Tampa and I try and get hear regularly! I'm in the catering business so I'm around food all the time.... The food here is excellent and the staff is always friendly! Anytime someone wants to go flying we always make sure to stop here. You should stop in and check it out, you wont be disappointed! read more

We visited the Venice area in January. Spotted the cafe when we arrived but unfortunately had closed for the day. Managed to finally get back the day before our departure for lunch. Our waiter recommended the Oxtail dish and I took his advice. Probably the best I've ever had, even in NYC. Unbelievable to find this quality of food in such a small venue. Chef was a riot. Visit and sample the fare, you won't be disappointed!!! read more

Tony has been in the restaurant industry for many years and has travelled all around the world as a chef. He and his wife, Deb, who is a travel agent, have always wanted their own restaurant, so they decided to open Suncoast Cafe right in the middle of Suncoast Air Center. Tony and Deb enjoy serving the public through Suncoast Cafe, where delicious food and great service are the driving forces of their business. It had some sweet candied nuts on it, with some shredded mixed cheese and a side of their house French dressing. Some of the pieces of lettuce were really long so it was kinda messy to eat. The red snapper was my choice of fresh catch. I asked for it grilled but the other option is blackened. The fish was a good portion. About 6 to 8 ounces. The mashed potatoes were delicious. I enjoyed my meal and I was too stuffed for dessert. But I saw the bread pudding with ice cream at another table. Wow! The scoop of ice cream on that dish was huge! The key lime ice cream pie sounded interesting and I imagine they have a good tiramisu. Next time I'll get dessert. Service was stellar. I was not bothered but I was checked on often for another drink and water etc. plates were cleared often but did not distract me. I really enjoyed being outside because they had a one man band playing guitar and singing so wonderfully. It's a gorgeous setting outside. A bit warm, but I was gross from golf anyways. They do have quite a few fans but I'm glad I was away from them. I hate when I'm trying to eat and it's all I can do to keep my hair from blowing in my face and mouth from overzealous ceiling fans. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked. Parking is a private lot out front and I easily found a space. This place was recommended by a coworker. I am so glad I took her recommendation!

Yes. Then I was asked did i want to dine Inside or Outside and I replied I had confirmed an Inside, window reservation. And he brought us to our inside aisle non-window table. When I asked why not a window as I confirmed - I was informed they only give them out when they are available and he can't guarantee it? I then asked "Why do you ask then when the reservation is made?" He just walked away. Probably not a good candidate for a public or customer facing role. As others have stated (and I in my first review) the staff and server experience here is highly variable. 1/10 Third - Our server was excellent and gregarious. we were seated well over 5 minutes until we able to tender a drink order, but then everything went very smoothly. The bus staff seems "nervous" and inexperienced, I had to ask twice for more water. The bread and butter was a little disappointing. one of the rolls was ok, the other either old, stale or did not sustain the heating process very well - inedible. Not to mention it was barely chilled. Location, location is really all they got going. We felt we got the bait and switch on lunch special. I would only recommend to try for your own perspective. I am a visitor from NY and we were on our way to Sharky's Beach when we decided to stop by this lovely cafe for breakfast. I am very used to the "home town mom and pop" kind of places as I am from a very small town...well, let me first say...KUDOS to you! We were greeted with a smile and, my goodness what a spectacular view of the planes...I was at first skeptical that we may smell the fumes as it is so close...but you absolutely do not...it is a wonderful treat to see them flying in and out! Our service was very nice and we were treated like we were regulars...The food was OUTSTANDING! I had an omelette and the Chef used all egg whites which was very yummy! I loved the Caribbean touch with the plantains too! My husband is Latin and he LOVED them....drinks were refilled without us having to ask and were just treated so wonderful...we even went back for lunch the same day...again...a spectacular meal! Very reasonably priced...WOW...just loved this little place! Go to another airport. There were more negative reviews about this F.B.O., but they disappeared. The staff is rude, and incompetent. There are no courtesy cars available.No maps available. they told me to go somewhere else. I will. KPGD, or KSRQ are better. Check: http://100ll.com/ for cheaper fuel. This is the same F.B.O that trained the 911 terrorists. Punta Gorda Airport (Punta Gorda, FL) KPGD, has cheaper Fuel and more services available. KPGD has ATC is it easier to get an IFR Clearence, and depart IFR. There are many aircraft beining operated at KVNC with no radios.Suncoast Air Center is poorly run. The staff is rude, and have poor training.If you use another fixed based operator, or Airport it would be a safer option. Fuel is cheaper at other Airports.No Cars are available, unless you rent one. This is the fixed based operator that under a different name, trained the 911 hijacker-Pilots in the September attacks. Suncoast Air Center is operated under a fictitious name.Makes you wonder what the owners are hiding. read more

Highly recommend if you are in Venice, FL you visit the Suncoast Cafe located in the Venice Municipal Airport, on Airport Avenue E. Summer hours are 7:30 - 2pm closed on Tuesday. Don't think because it's located in the airport building it won't be welcoming. It is the friendliest little restaurant with the BEST food in Venice, FL. We had lunch, but so many have recommended their breakfast. Chef Tony has the personality it takes to run a business, we find that owners that interact with their customers always have the best food and people tend to return. Kellen cooks along side Tony, and Lacey our waitress has personailty plus. I had the Cuban, and hubby had the Reuben, then we tasted each others. We told her it was our first time there so she brought out small servings of mushroom soup, conch soup and Tony's chili. Today I finally experienced an awesome lunch cooked up by chef tony! The environment of the cafe is awesome. With a perfect view of the airport. when i walked in I was not only greeted by the very pleasant server named lacey, but also by Chef Tony and the female prep cook working beside him. As i looked over the menu there was great interaction between the employees and the customers all around, it definitely gave it that small family restaurant feel. But that doesn't at all begin to explain how vastly amazing, and great tasting the food is at the Cafe. The Cuban sandwich is, and always will be "to die for!" The Chef even makes his own onion ring sauce which is perfect. As I was about half finished with my Cuban (which is HUGE!!!) the server brings me a small bowl of the Chefs "award winning" chili. which is what sealed the deal for me! Folks, the food is great, but what sets this spot apart from all other mere great spots is the company you'll meet every time you dine there. The staff treat you like family, and every menu item I've tried has been a dining experience. On top of the fabulous food and the interesting conversations you'll have with your fellow diners, Suncoast has a Rewards program that rewards you for eating food that will have you coming back for more. My husband and I had just moved to Venice FL and my cousin was flying in from Ft. Meyers and told us to meet her there for breakfast. WOW, that was the beginning of a beautiful relationship with this awesome restaurant. We have been going there for over a year now and I must say, we go weekly. The food is fantastic and Tony uses the most amazing spices. I have to admit, I'm a bit addicted to his food. They all treat us like family now and know us by name. This is the safest place to eat all along the West Coast of Florida. Given our current situation with Covid19, this restaurant is taking extra precautions to keep their guest and employees safe. This place has GREAT food. I stopped in after having my airplane worked on and ordered a crab sandwich, plantains, and cole slaw. It is the BEST COLESLAW I've ever eaten. More of a vinegar base but not harsh, slightly sweet with a tinge of pineapple. Sauce for crab awesome. Plantains were dessert. Our Server was Lacy and very friendly. We even bought a container of slaw to go. I never bought a container of slaw to go anywhere. This is good shit. Watch the airplanes land while enjoying your coleslaw. read more

During the current situation where restaurants are closed, it is wonderful to be able to keep ordering some of Chef Tony's excellent creations to take out. Ordering and picking up is easy and enjoyable as the friendly staff are waiting outside the kitchen door with your order and smiles (under their masks of course). Great place for lunch I had the Reuben sandwich and the corned beef was real not lunch meat which made my sandwich extra special to me.The owner took my great grand son out side to get a closer look at the planes which was a special treat to him. Owner and servers were more then friendly and kind. Would highly recommend. read more

We look forward to going to Suncoast Cafe whenever we're in town. You can tell Chef Tony loves what he does and it shows. Breakfast or lunch, the food is consistently excellent and the staff are friendly. The location is great- fun to watch the planes, but even when the airport is quiet, it's a beautiful view. read more

Special place at the Venice Airport, especially for pilots flying in to dine. Small breakfast/lunch place with simply some of the most flavorable tasting food around, and the Cuban is unbeatable. Combine the food with the super service and friendly, hometown atmosphere and that is why I keep coming back! read more

We have been frequenting the Seacoast Cafe for 5+ years now and have never been disappointed in the food or service. On our lunch visit today (March 1) we had the chicken creole and the grilled chicken. Both dishes were wonderful, it was definitely a very nice dining experience that I would rate an A+ read more

Brook is a Fantastic Waitress. The rest of the staff is Very friendly. Tony is a nice guy. Tony and crew make a Great "Benny and the Jets". Love the Hollandaise sauce. Everything on the menu is cooked perfect. And last but not least....Love the Music!!!! read more
