Service is always good and I really am impressed with how large the restaurant is and how well they do at turning tables and getting people in and out really fast so don't be intimidated if there's a line out the door they've got it under control.

The menu itself has a decent amount of selection so depending on what you're in the mood for you should be able to find something. Portion size is decent for the price point. As we arrived, we were seated, served our requested beverages and we're given the specials. I ordered the chicken pot pie that was on special, and my niece got the brisket burger and a side of fries (they come separate) The waitress said they were known for their brisket so that was a selling point. She also noted that they have a fry guy dedicated to prepping fresh cut fries to order. The fries were worth the hype, fresh crispy and paired wonderfully with some classic ketchup. The brisket burger was good, with a sweet BBQ sauce, it was just a bit shy from being too sweet so if you like a sweet BBQ I'd recommend this burger. For the chicken pot pie, the crust was delicious, soft and fluffy but I was not a fan of the filling which tasted tangy and didn't have much chicken inside. I later mentioned that it would be good if they put brisket and veggies in the pie crust for a different dish or like a pot roast situation. The waitress said she liked my idea and would pass it along. For dessert specials they had key lime, coconut cream and peanut butter pie. I wouldn't normally order or care to eat a coconut cream pie, but the waitress noted it as her favorite and I had a good feeling about it. The pie was indeed delicious. I loved the graham cracker crust which you could tell was homemade, the firm base with the fluffy cream top adorned with toasted coconut it was delightful. My niece is not a coconut person and said she enjoyed it as well. Overall, this a was a kind charming place to stop by on our road trip. The waitress was kind as well as the few folks that stopped in while we were there.

We sat outside and enjoyed the scenery. It is a beautiful location right next to the River District. There's a lovely park, splash pad, and playground right along the Dan River. We were so stoked to eat right there. The interior of the restaurant was so fun. We loved the decorations. Books everywhere! The server was ok at first. But when we were done, I did not like how she presented me the check. She just quickly flashed me an amount on a screen, and then hid the screen. I asked if I could pay cash and she accepted it but did not bring me a check even then. We ordered 3 burgers that sounded really good. Such a disappointment. The burger meat in each was shaped perfectly and was as hard as a hockey puck. They appeared to be cooked medium but the meat was tough and gristly. I have no idea how they got all the burgers the exact, uniform hockey puck shape. They must be like those frozen ones you can get at Costco. But $17.95 for a frozen hockey puck? At one point, while my kids were telling me how gross the patties were, while my husband and I told them they had to eat them to go play on the playground, I flagged the server down and asked what type of meat it was. She said beef. However, it did not taste like beef. Thank goodness for all the toppings because if they were plain burgers, they would have been inedible. We were so hungry though so we ate what we could. Notably, the buns also tasted cheap like they had just come out of a stale grocery store deli bag. The seasoned fries, sweet potato fries, the homemade ranch and ketchup, and salad with homemade vinaigrette were ok. After we left, I added up what we ordered again and realized she must have charged me an extra $12 to swap out a veggie patty for a beef patty. I was not told there would be an upcharge so felt a little swindled, especially with how she presented the check. I wish I had kept the veggie patty though, because it probably would have been better. Also my kid who had said the burgers were so gross puked right after we left and immediately felt much better and enjoyed 2 hours on the playground. My other kid was jealous of the other one puking. Like you can't make this kind of stuff up. This spot has so much potential. I would honestly hope to visit again just to chill outside but would not ever eat the burgers.

I've never experienced this before but was happy that we at least got our beer. My husband ordered an IPA and I got a flight (per usual!) I had looked at the website prior and while they list their flagship beers, they do not have a list of their seasonal offerings until you get into the brewery. I must say that I was much more impressed with the selection once we got there. We went outside to sit (it was a BEAUTIFUL day!) and were lucky enough to get a seat in the shade. The view was absolutely spectacular. If you love Buggs Island Lake (or Kerr Lake as this North Carolinian calls it), you will love this view. It's honestly the best part of this place. You can plenty of water, the bridge coming into Clarksville, and the train trestle. I must point out that you couldn't go wrong sitting inside in the AC either. It's decorated very nicely! We finally got notified that we were now able to order our food. We went to the window and let them know what we wanted. We were then given another buzzer that would let us know when our food was ready. (I'm a bit baffled by this process to be honest.) We ordered another beer. My favorite was the S'mores Porter (this was a seasonal option). Very tasty and VERY reminiscent of a S'more. My husband really enjoyed the Hazy Lake Day IPA. Our food was ready in the middle of our second beer. I got the smash burger and the hubs got the catfish bites. My smash burger was pretty good but the fries were just okay...they were not crispy...at all. Very floppy. They were warm though so at least that. The real star was the catfish. Cooked and seasoned perfectly, it was delicious. We also got some pimento cheese to go. It came with 2 packets of Stacy's Pita chips but I thought it was a little pricey for $8. Overall I was satisfied with the food, I will just try a different side next time. When it came time to close our tab, it asked if we wanted to tip, 18, 20, or 25% on our total bill. I only tipped on the beer since I had to get up to order my food and then go retrieve it myself as well...I did not mind doing that, I just don't think that's a procedure worth tipping. All of the bartenders were very pleasant. This really was a wonderful afternoon with friends. I probably won't come during the summer since I imagine it being crowded, but I will definitely return in the fall or next spring. I wanted to purchase a pint glass but they didn't have them. They only had the 5 oz flight glasses. Hopefully they will get some in the future! Ps. They do have a designated parking lot but it seems to get full fast. Not sure if you're allowed to park at the hotel next door or not!
