Sundance Pit BBQ in Palmer Lake crushed it. I had the turkey BBQ sandwich with green chile cornbread and it was outstanding--smoky, tender turkey piled high, and that cornbread with a hint of spice was next-level good. The brisket and sausage are legit too, but that turkey sandwich is worth the trip all on its own. Friendly owners, laid-back vibe, and food that tastes like it was made by people who love the craft. This is BBQ done right.

The food here was awesome and we were really surprised. Not a lot of options in the area on a Sunday, so we stopped in and gave it a try. I got the sliced brisket sandwich and a screwdriver (yes, they had a selection of drinks available) and my buddy got a pulled pork sandwich. We tried the BBQ sauce and thought it was great. It had a sweet taste. The meat was great even without the sauce and I think next time I'll try the elote. The food came out very quickly and everyone working was friendly. We headed over to the lake afterwards and ended up recommending the place to a few people there. They had good pricing also. The only thing I would change is to have the sandwich come with a choice of side included (willing to pay more for this) vs a bag of chips. Note that there is parking right in front and I believe behind the place. The parking next door looks inviting, but is labeled for residents

Unassuming little restaurant on a corner coming into Palmer Lake (from Monument) - easy to miss, but well worth finding! They are friendly folks and I think every person there asked if I enjoyed my food - which I definitely did. I had a 1/2 pound of lean brisket (after the young lady at the counter mentioned that they were known for their brisket). I also ordered coleslaw and green chili cornbread with some iced tea. I filled my tea glass and was told I could sit in any of the 3 dining areas. The restaurant appears to have been an old family home before its current life as a Texas Barbecue wonder. I chose a table with booth seating on one side. A basket on the table provided napkins and flatware. I relaxed and awaited my food - drooling over the great smells wafting from the kitchen. The brisket and cornbread arrived, each in their own basket, and the coleslaw soon followed along with a bottle of BBQ sauce. There were 3 thick slices of the leanish brisket accompanied by sliced onions and a few delicious dill pickle coins. The coleslaw was mayo-based and tasty (but could have used a little more spice, for my taste). The brisket was fall-apart tender and perfectly smoked - soooo good! The BBQ sauce was a bit sweet, which I enjoyed. The cornbread was tasty but I would have liked some butter for it - my fault for not asking! After I finished the meal, the thought of homemade banana pudding with vanilla wafers made me order some - absolutely perfect!!

The brisket is the best I've had in Colorado. Maria is a kind soul. Try the smoked cheese. Yum yum!

Cute local spot! Three dining areas, so plenty of room for diners. The cheesesteak was very flavorful and they didn't skimp on the meat. Might ask for more of the grilled veggies next time. Turkey breast sandwich was very tender, I liked adding the BBQ sauce to it. Both came with a bag of Lays chips. The cornbread was dense and our 2 year old enjoyed it! Friendly owners, and they offered our son a hot wheels car which was a kind touch. We'll be back to try other sandwiches the next time we visit the lake!

It's good but small portions and a bit pricey. I bought the biggest sandwich and it was not what I expecting. It's good for the experience

The bread is on the flatter side, but it was the perfect ratio of bread to filling ingredients for me. The highlight of my meal was their tater tots, which were so well seasoned and crispy in comparison to your usual cookie cutter tater tots (not sure if they are house made). It did take a while for our food to come out, but it seemed to be a pretty busy night for them, and the food was well worth the wait.

The rolls alone are worth a visit due to their light fluffy texture, but be aware they are just a smidgen too sweet! We had the ribs, pork chop, chicken critters basket, and I myself was content going with just a couple sides: mashed potatoes and some veggies which consisted of yummy broccoli and carrots. Not baby carrots!!! Yay! They were cooked well and still had some crunch; no soggy watery overdone vegetables here! I also had a glass of their crisp sauv blanc. Highly recommend! It was busy and bustling, and the country music playing overhead was not too loud at all. Overall a nice spirited ambiance. We were paid a visit by the manager. A nice touch. I will definitely be back to sample some of their appetizers, other wines, or maybe a fun cocktail.

We were there on a Saturday and the service was very very slow. Our server had a definite attitude and wasn't friendly. He took our beverage order and brought us our ice cold beers and didn't come back for over ten minutes to take our order. We asked for more salsa and he brought more back and he asked if we wanted more chips. In the time between reviews, we have visited the restaurant at least four-five times and have recommended to friends and family. Each time we knew we would be charged for the extra salsa and never have been charged for chips too! What made this visit even worse was he brought the tacos out with maybe two slices of red onion for three tacos. We asked for more garnish and he brought us a bowl and preceded to charge us $2.00? Yikes. Anyways not sure if and when we will go back. Service is half the experience and we have never had this issue when the owners are in the restaurant. Hope they fix the issue soon as there is another local restaurant that has had issues and their scores on yelp keep dropping...
