I had the turkey BBQ sandwich with green chile cornbread and it was outstanding--smoky, tender turkey piled high, and that cornbread with a hint of spice was next-level good. The food here was awesome and we were really surprised. Not a lot of options in the area on a Sunday, so we stopped in and gave it a try. I got the sliced brisket sandwich and a screwdriver (yes, they had a selection of drinks available) and my buddy got a pulled pork sandwich. We tried the BBQ sauce and thought it was great. It had a sweet taste. The meat was great even without the sauce and I think next time I'll try the elote. The food came out very quickly and everyone working was friendly. We headed over to the lake afterwards and ended up recommending the place to a few people there. They had good pricing also. The only thing I would change is to have the sandwich come with a choice of side included (willing to pay more for this) vs a bag of chips. Unassuming little restaurant on a corner coming into Palmer Lake (from Monument) - easy to miss, but well worth finding! They are friendly folks and I think every person there asked if I enjoyed my food - which I definitely did. I had a 1/2 pound of lean brisket (after the young lady at the counter mentioned that they were known for their brisket). I also ordered coleslaw and green chili cornbread with some iced tea. I filled my tea glass and was told I could sit in any of the 3 dining areas. The restaurant appears to have been an old family home before its current life as a Texas Barbecue wonder. I chose a table with booth seating on one side. A basket on the table provided napkins and flatware. I relaxed and awaited my food - drooling over the great smells wafting from the kitchen. The brisket and cornbread arrived, each in their own basket, and the coleslaw soon followed along with a bottle of BBQ sauce. There were 3 thick slices of the leanish brisket accompanied by sliced onions and a few delicious dill pickle coins. The coleslaw was mayo-based and tasty (but could have used a little more spice, for my taste). The brisket was fall-apart tender and perfectly smoked - soooo good! The BBQ sauce was a bit sweet, which I enjoyed. The cornbread was tasty but I would have liked some butter for it - my fault for not asking! First time eating here and it exceeded our expectations. This is a locally owned business so definitely check them out if you get a chance or want to take a little drive. We chatted with one of the owners and even met the pit master - both friendly and genuine. The menu is simple but provides plenty of options for food and drink. We got the chopped brisket sandwiches (comes with bagged chips), coleslaw, baked beans, and green chile corn bread. The sandwich also came with onions and pickles which I personally like both. The coleslaw was a great consistency. The baked beans actually had several types of beans and was a highlight for me with the cornbread. All in all -- Everything was absolutely delicious! A+! The BBQ sauce is homemade too which we enjoyed immensely. As I write this, I'm regretful there's no leftovers now I'm home, haha. The restaurant is on the smaller side but there is seating in the front entry, back, and a few tables outside as well. I imagine on a busy day, it would get a little cramped but since it is so close to Palmer Lake, honestly a to-go order a la picnic at the lake would be pretty epic. Parking - We parked in the back. Cute local spot! Three dining areas, so plenty of room for diners. The cheesesteak was very flavorful and they didn't skimp on the meat. Might ask for more of the grilled veggies next time. Turkey breast sandwich was very tender, I liked adding the BBQ sauce to it. Both came with a bag of Lays chips. The cornbread was dense and our 2 year old enjoyed it! This cute place has the BEST bar-b-que in the Tri Lakes area and maybe beyond. Very flavorful, nice balance of fat to meat unless you are a moist lover. I usually go for the leaner cut and it is very tender and not dry at all, which sometimes it can be. Not at Sundance. The slices are a meal in itself. The restaurant is nice and welcoming as are the owners. Anyone living in the area or just passing through should certainly give it a try. For me, I'm hooked! read more

Fantastic place to eat fabulous barbecue. Located where at the bend of the road on the lake side, this charming restaurant makes full use of its rooms and allows diners to seat themselves in comfort. We loved the cushioned seat benches, the artwork on its walls, and the homey feel. We were greeted immediately and didn't have to wait for a table. You order at the counter - drinks, meats, sides - and the kitchen brings out your food quickly. We were impressed at how efficient the service was. We ordered sliced brisket, pork, potato salad (a special menu item), elote, baked beans and cornbread. The meats were incredibly tender and tasty; they just fell apart. They came with onions and pickles. We had little fat in our meat servings. Sauce is available at each table so they aren't stingy with it and we sauced to our taste. The sauce was really sweet but good, though it made me wish there was a different version with some spiciness. Every one of the sides was on point but the elote was particularly special and delicious. Next time I'll order the elote with brisket in it. The hubs and I were driving through Palmer Lake last Sunday and noticed a new to us BBQ place, Sundance Pit BBQ. What a lucky find! We're always hoping for tender smoked turkey and moist brisket and Sundance did not disappoint! Both were excellent as were the owner's family coleslaw and baked beans recipes! We're not fans of super sweet baked beans and Sundance must have seen us coming! With just a hint of creamy sweetness and three beans in the recipe, we should have ordered the larger portion. The coleslaw was most excellent as well and we look forward to trying their elote on our next visit. This gem of a restaurant is a welcome addition to Palmer Lake! Stopped in on Sunday afternoon and the place was busy. A lot of items were sold out from Saturday. Sage told me they were extremely busy Saturday. I ordered the Chopped brisket sandwich with onions & this is was amazing. I ordered coleslaw for the side and the cornbread. These are made in house and were simply outstanding. Service was perfect. As people and tables left, they were cleaned quickly and efficiently. They have bottles of barbecue sauce, homemade to pour on your food as well. Their barbecue sauce is great. read more

Fantastic Texas BBQ now in Palmer Lake! We tried the brisket and pulled pork, both of which were on point. Succulent moist smokey meat with great homemade bbq sauce. The Texas twinkies (smoked bacon wrapped jalapeño stuffed with/ cheese and brisket) are also quite good. Excellent and very tasty BBQ! The pork sandwich was very yummy, the ribs were excellent, and the brisket was very moist, although it could have used a bit more seasoning. The cornbread was also very good, and the tea was very good. I appreciated that the sweet tea was not super sweet, and also that they had an unsweetened option. The potato salad was lackluster, but that was the only thing that was disappointing. The service was friendly and they did a good job of getting out what we needed; they just needed to bring us napkins.
