I wanted so bad to fall in love with this place due to all the raving I heard about it, but unfortunately, my heart was not stolen. The parking lot is extremely cramped and honestly quite terrible for your tires - and it was a little hard to find. It's a cute little place that resembles more of a house than a restaurant, but I think the exterior really added to the "homey" feeling. When you first walk in, you can take a peek at their specials & menu before you order. The kitchen is open faced, so they make the food right in front of you and you get to see them scoop out your various side dishes. I'm personally not a fan of the open-faced kitchen concept, mostly because if you sit too long to chat with your friends while you eat, then you leave the restaurant smelling something awful. The food wasn't impressive. I ordered the All American veggie burger with pita bread & sriracha hummus on the side. The patty was so plain! I was reading the reviews and most people said that the burgers were so well made that I didn't need condiments - but I definitely needed condiments. I wasn't fond of the texture either. I'm a huge fan of veggie burgers, but this didn't really make my top 10 list. I really liked the sriracha hummus though! But 4 pieces of pita for a HUGE bowl of hummus wasn't a great ratio - it allowed me to take home more than 3/4ths of what I was served to save for later, so it wasn't a total loss. I'd eaten here a couple times when I lived in Nashville and brought her for lunch during our most recent trip through town. "You gotta try this. God almighty!" she exclaimed after the first bite. And it was delicious. We had the hot chicken sandwich, hot & sour soup, Thai ginger tofu, and sesame kale - all vegan. Not one bite disappointed. My mom and I visited Nashville for the first time and she's an omnivore. She got the Aloha Burger and really loved it! It was different than what I had her try in the past- I believe the patty was made out of nuts and seeds- but she honestly enjoyed it! I got the tempeh BBQ wrap and that was absolutely delicious- one of the best wraps I have had in awhile. The daily soup was pumpkin and it was creamy, savory and sweet- very enjoyable. The inside is humble and welcoming. There are several staff working there, all friendly and ready to serve with a smile. First time here... I'll say off the bat I'm not a vegan/vegetarian by any stretch. Still, I'd heard good things and grabbed lunch here with a friend. The atmosphere is quaint and cheerful. The main indoor eating area isn't too big, but there's also an outdoor patio or two. The food was tasty. I got a bowl, which seemed a bit on the pricey side to me, but I enjoyed it (me, a carnivore). I found everything tasty and like that it at least seemed healthy! Final thoughts: if you're a vegan/vegetarian, you very well may love this place. So excited to find yummy vegan places to go when I travel!! The staff is super friendly and the place is big enough to eat inside or out. Tons of tables. Super busy, which is nice to see a vegan place so popular. I tried the buffalo Tempe salad. It was ok. The dill dressing on its own is amazing. But it wasn't my favorite combined with the buffalo Tempe. The buffalo Tempe is very spiced for those who love spices and I do. I wish the tomatos were cut up as well. Not just spices. I also got the Asian coleslaw which was divine for a side! I highly recommend it. Next time I would try the Thai ginger bowl knowing what I know now. The ginger kombucha is pretty tasty as well. Stopped at this place when I was in Nashville and got the Southwest Salad and potato salad. Both were great and I loved the fact they gave you a free sample on something if you've never had it before, the staff was knowledgable on what ingredients they use and everything is vegan/ vegetarian. I took it to go so I can't rate on the dine in experience but I enjoyed the bar of food they had, located in a weird spot but the place is super nice and clean! Will be back again when I am in the area. Update; I have been to this place 3 or 4 times since I've visited Nasvhille TN and have yet to be dissapointed. The employees are really nice and always greet you as you come in. I've gotten to southwest salad multiple times and it's just so good, my body always seems to be craving greens and this salad is fulfilling since it has beans / corn / and a delicious chipotle dressing. Potato salad is bomb ( my love for potatoes always makes me get this ) and the chickpea curry salad is yummy as well. I went to Nashville for a show recently and I decided to go here. This was my first time in Nashville and my friend and I were looking for a place with vegan options and this place popped up. I've never been more thrilled with a menu at any other restaurant I've ever been to. I wanted to try everything. Unfortunately I didn't have the financial capacity nor the stomach space to fulfill that wish but I got the BBQ tempeh wrap and she got a bahn mi and we shared the platter that has a little of everything on it and it was so reasonably priced. We were so happy with everything and the staff was great. I wanted to go see another show in Nashville just to visit this restaurant again! Every dish starts off vegan too so there wasn't that awkward asking about whether I could eat something and still being unsure even after being told I could. Twice in 3 days and what we had was so good the first time, we ordered EXACTLY the same meals the second time. Tasty vegan food with many food allergy options like soy or oil free, too. Incredibly friendly staff. You order at the counter, they make it (sort of like Subway does it except with good food), and then you pay at the counter. You also bus your own tables. For a vegetarian, this is heaven. It might almost be intimidating, with the number of good selections. I've never had bad food here.

What a cute little cafe. The staff was very friendly and even accommodated my indecision on sides by letting me do half and half. It was a very relaxed ambiance and cafeteria style service (order through a line and get your tray at the end). I didn't see the crab cakes on the menu and I went, I am assuming I had to ask for them. Wow! So good we went back within a week. Between my wife and I (and a friend we met for dinner), I've tried a couple of different burgers, a quinoa bowl, and a BBQ wrap, and they were all amazing. Crazy amazing. The place has a super casual vibe, you order up front and take the food back to your table and get your own drinks (a la Chipotle). The staff seems to be in a good mood and chatting it up with each other and customers (feels more like you are eating in a friend's kitchen than a restaurant). Absolutely astonished with this place! My fiancé and I came here and ordered traditional BBQ wrap and the portabella wrap with pad Thai and potato salad as our sides. All vegan and oh my goodness... words can not describe the deliciousness. The traditional BBQ was stupid good, by far my favorite of the two even though the other wrap was also super yummy, it had a pineapple sauce on it that was out of this world, it was very refreshing. Both were light but I was so full but not gross feeling like after eating animal products. The BBQ was incredible, really was better than any BBQ sandwich I've ever had the coleslaw that was in it was key! And the sides were amazing as well. We also got the spinach wrap which I highly recommend, it was so soft and tasty. Then to top it off we got the chocolate chip cookie dough parfait and oh my gosh this was the business!!! I had to stop Lance from buying more haha it was so amazing and tasted like cookie dough but somehow better omg I'm in love with this place. And now I'm regretting not buying the parfait to go!! I was a Vegan for 20 years and a Vegetarian for 20 years before that. I went to this place with a friend who is not a vegetarian and I won't be back. It was just too dirty, I was handed a cup that had globs of stuff on it. When I asked for a clean cup, the staffer made a big show of holding the cup up to the light and looking it over. (There were food stuffs stuck to it!) She showed me two more filmy, covered in fingerprint, cups and I opted for plastic. I ate my mushy fruit salad with my fingers after seeing how dirty the silverware was. (Again, food stuff stuck on.) Not exactly a healthy place either, the food was way too sugary for me. read more

I am a regular customer at the sunflower cafe, but last night I was treated so poorly, I don't know if I will ever go back. Last night was Friday 6/21/19 the Cafe was open until 10pm. I got there around 8 to meet a friend. They started packing everything up extremely early. Granted there was a storm last night. I was drinking hot tea, and I asked for more hot water. They had already put the urn away and the shift leader flat out told me no. She was very rude. I'm sure it wouldn't have taken a lot of effort to get 1 cup of hot water. It was before 9 o'clock. At 9:30 my friend and I were eating with full plates of food, and the same shift leader came up to us and asked if she could take our plates. Full plates of food!! I told her I was still working. She said, well we are closing in a half hour, and we want to get out of here as soon as possible. She was so hostile with us. I felt so uncomfortable, I packed my food up and left. Meanwhile there was another couple at a table, who got there after us, and she did not talk to them at all. My friend and I were the only two people of color sitting down that night, I honestly wonder if that was a factor. I have been working in the service industry full time for the past year. Never in my life have I asked a customer to leave during normal business hours. I could understand if we were lingering past 10pm, but rushing us a half hour before close? That was incredibly rude. We spent over $50 and tipped generously. It's very disappointing to be treated so poorly and being in such an unfriendly an unaccommodating space. If she would have politely told us that they were closing early due to the storm, we would have kindly left. But instead we were basically kicked out through hostility and passive aggression. I am very upset because I do really enjoy the food. I am a longtime vegan, and I really love supporting vegan businesses. But I've never had such an upsetting dining experience!!! The other staff members were very kind and helpful. The woman who prepared our food was very knowledgeable. And a woman with purple hair was especially kind. It was mainly the shift manager who was so rude and aggressive and ruined the night. By the time we left, the brunt of the storm was over. So there was really no reason for such anxiety. I've never had such poor service, especially at a counter service restaurant!! I hate to say it, but I'm going to have to take my business elsewhere. For anyone still reading this, the food is good, the prices are reasonable, but the service is aforementioned. I was really looking forward to opening of the bakehouse, but now I don't know if I can support. read more

I've really grown to enjoy this neighborhood find. Their burger bowls are amazing, and come in different varieties. A bed of quinoa and kale, topped with their own veggie burger and toppings and garlic aioli sauce... so good! And their vegan and gluten free desserts are amazing!! I love their chocolate chip cookie dough concoction. It is a great treat for anyone with a sweet tooth. Anyone who is following a vegan/vegetarian diet, or just looking to lower their meat intake can easily find something to eat here that is both delicious and filing! The prices can be a little high for someone on a fixed budget, by I understand you pay for good quality foods. And parking can be very tricky during peak business hours, so if you can, wait to take a slightly later lunch so that you know you can find proof at this popular spot. read more
