We have been picking up the tuna sandwiches as long as they have been making them. I think over 20 years and they just changed the recipe and added ingredients to extend shelf life. However, I must of have that deer in the head lights look upon my face because within seconds of walking into this healthy haven I was greeted and given great advise from several staff on types of vitamins...and why I should or shouldn't be taking them. Hey. I read some of the other poor reviews for this store. I have had some poor times in this store. However, this afternoon my wife made me go in for some soap. From the very minute I went in Bonnie, the cashier greeted me. How nice! Later I was looking for some other stuff. I asked Monte a nutrition expert for help and this man talked my ear off. I hate giving bad reviews but these people must have a yacht they are paying off somewhere. OMG the prices were so high! I recently moved to Ft. Worth and have up until now been a customer at Herb Mart in Plano. The prices at Sunflower are not just a dollar or two higher they are like $5 to $10 dollars higher. Holy Crap! It so significant it makes the 50 mile trip to Plano worth it. I can't believe the mark up on the same brands and products that I normally purchase. I purchased a small 5oz bag of ground chia seed and after going to Sprouts found I could have gotten a whole pound for $1 more than I paid at this place. Even with their 15% discount it's not enough to make up the difference. I'm not desperate enough to pay inflated prices for something I can order by mail or drive 50 miles and get and save some big bucks! read more

I really like this store for being able to find the herbals and botanical goods that I look for in order to make a lot of my bitters and tinctures. The apothecary bottles and atomizers for storage and distribution of those mentioned goods are always in stock and of great quality. The sunflower card is a must have because you get 15% off everything, every day, and even more on their Super Tuesday deals. This is great, my only qualm with these cards is that its something more to carry around when you could just regularly have the store not priced 15% in excess. IDK, maybe that's just me. Anyway, its a cool store, so check it out. Oh, and if you need gluten or lactose free products, like oh, say, ice cream for a certain someone- this place will make you look like a superstar. read more

Another store I'm so glad FW has. One of Ridglea's finest! Come here for all things health foods, herbal, vegetarian, etc. Not many places in town has what this store has to offer. Prices are def. a little on the high side but it's OK when you consider the quality of merchandise they sell. Service's always OK but store is neat, well kempt, and lively. I'd been wanting to stop by the Sunflower Shoppe since I moved to Fort Worth last summer, mostly because I was hoping it would provide great local produce and a sense of community that its larger competitor Central Market can't do (I guess I was hoping for a community board with notices for art/dance/yoga classes...). There wasn't any real sense of community here, and the food selection is limited to dry goods and a frozen section--both are great, don't get me wrong, but this is more of a homeopathic/green CVS, not a food market. Sunflower Shoppe is the perfect place to stop by for some natural make-up or chemical-free cleaning products or books on green and healthy living. I'd suggest doing your food shopping somewhere else. That being said, I was super excited about the huge selection of Fair Trade Equal Exchange coffee--I haven't seen this anywhere else in town, so if you're a fan this is the place to find it! read more

I like this store. They have one of the largest varieties of different organic oils that I've ever seen. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They also serve food (sandwiches, cakes, ice cream, popcorn, etc.). However, they are a tad bit expensive. Whoever does the inventory needs to do a bit of a better job because they are almost always sold out of peppermint and argan oil. I believe a private seller (who possibly sells on Ebay, Amazon, etc.) comes in and buys up the entire product as soon as they get a shipment in. I wish they would hold extra at the back instead of always saying "well, that's all we have". They know these two oils are very popular. They're also out of Castor oil a lot as well. read more

I can't thank R.J. from the Sunflower Shoppe, enough. I have a dog that for the past 6 mos and $700 later still had a very sore tender ear. Antibiotics were NOT working. I googled an all natural over the counter pain remedy for my dog. R.J. told me they didn't carry it but had an ear drop for humans that could be used on a dog. I was skeptical but I went on to the store and purchased those ear drops! Last night was the first night my dog hasn't woken me up in pain!!!!!!! R.J. I can't thank you enough!!!!!!!!! My little guy had instant relief the minute I put the 2 drops in his ear. And he didn't even throw a fuss when I put in 2 more drops before we went to bed. R.J. is a very knowledgeable guy!!!! Clean cute and roomy bathroom. Many different types of vitamins, literature, oils, candy bars etc. Counter help is pretty knowledgeable. I use to frequent this place back in the late '90's. What I can tell you is that they had the best chocolate ice cream machine ever. I literally will drive an hour just to get that ice cream it is that good. One was never enough, I always wanted two but could never justify to the counter help that I was that gluttonous. If you like chocolate ice cream, you must try theirs. read more

I'm a loyal SS customer and I have been calling in and ordering standard process supplements for my pets for over 8 years w/ never an issue, always had good customer service and support to get my order needs med and save w/ the Super Tuesday option. I called yesterday and had a terrible experience, did NOT get my orders in as needed, missed out on super Tuesday savings because of the poor customer service and lack of online ordering options. When I first called I was placed on hold w/ no warning and after 5 mins of waiting, I hung up. I called back and someone picked up and then hung up on me. Third call I reached CS and spoke w/ "Jessica". She was pleasant but unhelpful as she immediately passed me off to nutrition to complete my order. The gal "Karen" who answered the phone in nutrition sounded like she had just rolled out of bed when she picked up the phone and she was both rude and unhelpful. She informed me that if she helped me order over the phone, it would now be an additional charge of $4.00 (which is a totally asinine charge and makes no sense b/c it would be same time and assistance if I came into the store as over the phone and w/ more exposure risk in the current climate!). She said I should order online. When I told her I had looked and could not find what I was looking for online she informed me of what to search for "Professional Supplements", however I COULD NOT find a single pet supplement available under the ST options! This was very frustrating and I did not call the store back to complete my order bc of the reported charge and the rude/unfriendly staff I would have to deal with if I called back. I will go back in person to order what I need in the future but I will not be using the SS any longer for needs outside of this one specific item as I don't appreciate how I was treated and the poor online ordering system option. read more

I love this place! I'm always learning something new and they have the biggest vitamin selection that I know of in the area. However, I have had some consistantly poor service with the Buda Juice station lately. I have been getting the juices since you guys started them. Every time I come in now, the employee has had her head burried in her phone or she is fraternizing with the other workers. Not sure if she works for you guys or not...? My husband has been going to the Fort Worth store for more than 4 years and loves the selection. Our most important reason for going to this store is that they carry LOCAL Raw Unfiltered Honey in a Glass Jar. I have liver disease and found out that we all need to take 1 teaspoon of honey every night before we go to bed. While we sleep our liver continues to work and it uses up all the nutrients it needs and, even runs out of them, but just 1 teaspoon of honey supplies all it needs to do its job! I wanted to love this place, I really did. It was the first natural food place I spotted when I moved here. I got giddy with excitement. But I'm sorry I've been a bit disappointed after several visits. Its a small shop with a small cafe. So small shop= small selection. No, there's nothing wrong with that, but man oh man their prices! Yes, I expect to pay more for these quality items. But when there's a place an exit down on the highway that offers the same products, but at a cheaper price...chances are I'd rather go there. They do have an awesome offer every first Tuesday of the month. Its a zoo on Super Tuesdays, especially late in the afternoon. Their stuff was picked over and the few things I needed weren't in stock.
