We came here today for a late lunch and we were greeted right away by Marvin. The restaurant is attached to a hotel right off the main road. Theres plenty of seating inside, and its bright and open. Marvin was extremely friendly and provided excellent service for my family. He chatted with us about the area, his background,and food. My husband really enjoyed talking to him. Our food came out hot, and quick. The fries were seasoned very well. It reminded me of a ranch/dill flavor. My daughter loved her burger. We tried the pie sampler. Our favorite pieces were the buttermilk (similar to lemon) and the oatmeal pie. Thanks for the friendly quick service and tasty food. read more

Picked up 2 of the pie samplers on our way through town to share with family. We have stopped here previously to try the bean and pickle pies. All the pies we had have been excellent. There's something about novelty that allows for more grace. Sunglow's novelty is their pickle and pinto bean pies, which everyone talks about. Love it or hate it, everyone is curious and wants to give it a try. So they flock to Bicknell for the experience. Because of that, I believe, this restaurant has maintained a level of popularity that it otherwise might not have. Don't get me wrong, it's not a terrible place; it's a-ok. But it is definitely carried by the pie. Our food was fine, but after finishing up, we quickly pivoted to the reason we came. I didn't go for the pinto bean, only the pickle (and my wife ordered a slice of cherry to ensure we had something tasty if the pickle pie was gross). Well, let me tell you what, that pickle pie wasn't half bad! It was surprisingly very sweet and tart with a little crunch to it. Sure, the green color is off putting, but it's very similar to pumpkin pie-with pickles. I have to say, it's worth a visit. read more

This is a great casual place to stop for lunch! Our server Danielle was very friendly and attentive, even after a huge group came in. We received food quickly. The food is basic but solid and good. They have gluten free buns! The highlight of course of their pie- I tried the buttermilk because you don't often see it offered. It was so good I'm hoping to stop here again on my way home! Great little cafe. Small town vibes. They are known for their pies. They had some interesting flavors and I'm all about trying new things. We got the sampler. I am surprised how good the bean pie was, I don't like beans so that says a lot! The pickle pie reminded me of a tart zucchini bread. The oatmeal pie was too sweet for me. We HAD to stop while in the area on vacation after we found out about their "most interesting" pies! Loved the sampler of Pickle Pie, Oatmeal Pie, Pinto Bean Pie and Buttermilk Pie. A fun stop right before hitting Capitol Reef National Park. Any options for everyone, including a kids menu as well as those who are gluten-free or if you are vegetarian. We always stop in with large groups and they are ready for us and have everything set up. They can do individual tickets or they can ring you up as a group. This is a classic diner experience, the service is great and the food fills your belly before hitting the national park. It is very clean and has a fun ambience. We've been coming to Torrey for years and finally tried out Sunglow! The inside is clean, comfortable, and updated. Our server, Martin, was attentive and friendly. The food was great too. We started with hummus as an appetizer and it was amazing!! Would highly recommend. Our group got the steak, chicken fried steak, grilled chicken breast, and the chicken kebabs. Our favorite part though was the pies! We got an Oreo cream pie and a peanut butter truffle pie! Delicious!! Don't skip out on the pies! What a great surprise to find Mediterranean food in the little town of Bicknell! There is a really interesting and varied menu. I had grilled chicken, with salad, baked potato, and asparagus, (I could have had soup rather than salad, if I had wanted to), and my friend had a Greek salad and some hummus with pita. Everything was great. Sadly we had no room to try the pies. Marvin, the waiter was friendly, funny and efficient. Bright and pleasant atmosphere. The hours listed on Google Maps and Yelp, as well as a printed menu in our motel listed the hours of 8 am - 8 pm. Just keep on driving!!!! Let me start by saying we were so excited to stop in and grab some dinner and the pie sampler. The best thing about our visit was the ice cold water. That is not lie. We tried to order breakfast. They stopped serving it and only offered lunch and dinner. Which was fine, they have a huge menu with a kaleidoscope of choices. Our server was pleasant and did her best with what she had to work with. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings and the fiancé ordered the 16 oz prime rib of which was the special of the night. The poor guy took one bite and by the look on his face I knew something was wrong. It was ice cold. Like when he asked me to touch it...it was ICE COLD. We never complain but let me tell you we had no choice. It was awful. Our server asked if she should take it back and have it tossed back on the grill. Based on how he had to saw threw it we knew that was going to be a hard no for us. He ordered a cheeseburger. Which he ate less than half. My burger wasn't any better. They were frozen patties over salted served on a overly buttered bun. It wasn't tasty. So...we ordered the pie sampler because it's supposed to be what they are known for. It was meh... It's the end of September, 20COVID. Businesses look dark without the sun, but if the open sign is on, they're probably open. Just call ahead if you're not sure. They'll be there. Months ago, I learned about this place's unique pickle pie. Now, pies are really not something I eat, especially the sweet ones, so you can argue that I'm not qualified to call this place pie heaven... Especially when I'm not a pie believer. But, this called me, for some reason. Maybe because it's got pickles which are savoury as well as fat cutting? Luckly, I'm staying in Torrey for Capitol Reef and this is a 5 minute drive away. Why not? The building might be dark but the open sign is lit and someone did answer the phone. A slice of pickle and a slice of the buttermilk pies between me and my cousin. He's also not a sweet guy. Buttermilk. A slight lemon flavor. Not heavy. It was lovely! And now, pickle. Sweet and tangy, but not so much as sweet and sour pork. Cinnamon. Nutmeg. It was lovely! Light as a dessert should be in my opinion. We didn't feel wobbly or guilty eating either pies. He also wouldn't mind getting them again when we are in town, perhaps a whole to share. I mean, Capitol Reef is nearby. Glen Canyon NRA and Bryce are just down the 12. Also, Bicknell is cheaper to stay in than Torrey. I don't eat pie often, but when I do, I prefer Sunglow's. read more

That was... it wasn't even just overhyped. It was straight out bad. Burgers and fries are nothing special, down to the shredded lettuce used instead of actual lettuce leaves. But after hearing raves for days about the pies, tried five (yes, five) of them and they were all bad. The much-hyped pinto bean pie tasted straight like blended white sugar. The banana caramel seemed to be imitation banana flavoring blended into cream. Which was still a step ahead of the blueberry, which literally looked like a carton of cream off the Sysco truck (which was parked outside at the time of our visit), poured into a crust, and topped with a few blueberries and syrup. The Oreo pie was similarly forgettable, ditto the banana caramel, and I honestly forget the last - it wasn't advertised as coconut but clearly had it in there. Oh yeah, half the staff gave us surely looks for walking in wearing the masks during this time of global pandemic. Extremely uncomfortable. read more

Had to try the pickle and bean pie after my parents told me how good it was, and we made a road trip to come through the area just to try it, and I'm glad we did, they were excellent! They were so good we decided to come back and eat dinner! My wife had the Chile Verde Navajo taco and I had the chicken tenders and scone cause chicken tenders are bomb. The food was great, the scones were excellent, the soda was cold, and the pies were great. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for something affordable, good, and fast. Many many trips to Sunglow and I'm a little stunned this is the first time I've written a review. My first visit must have been some 10 years ago, and I first heard the tale of the pickle pie. That's the thing that everyone will talk about--they have a pickle pie and a pinto bean pie. And yes, you'll want to try one (both?) of them and there's a pie sampler that will help you do just that. But it's still a great small town diner without their famed items. The menu isn't super simple, but still straightforward enough. You've got the pies of course, and loads of varieties besides the two hallmarks: you often will find coconut cream, a chocolate that might feature toffee or peanut butter, meringue, a fruit pie or two, and so on. But for food, you have some sandwiches, a lot of breakfast items, a Mexican portion of the menu, and the opportunity to build your own open face sandwiches. Not your average diner, but it only strays one standard deviation from that formula. Most recently I had the chile verde burrito, which was not too massive as some burritos are wont to be, and had a tender pork chile verde. I've also had one of their open face melts and enjoyed that. It's a different take on a sandwich to break up the monotony. Honestly, they may not all be home runs but you're bound to find something you like and I'm giving the a lot of props for trying different things and for being so nice. I've only had lots of smiles here and even had a server offer up a few extra packets of mayo when I asked, to help me out on a long backpacking trip. Maybe it's just that every time I'm here I'm headed out for backpacking magic or a long camping trip, and that puts me in a good mood. But Sunglow has quietly become a preferred stop along those routes. Finish it off with pie (last time was a creamy avocado key lime pie, yum!) and the almost-too-snappy lunch service I receive, and it's just about the perfect pit stop on your adventure through town. read more

Was pleasantly surprised by Sunglow Restaurant. We were on our way to Capitol Reef and accidentally stumbled across Sunglow. The food was great for the price and they had many unique pie flavors to try! We tried the root beer pie which was great. They also had watermelon, coconut cream and a few other available. Service was a little slow but I could tell they were super busy and only had 2 waitresses on staff. Sunglow is a much better value than restaurants closer to Capitol Reef which tend to be pretty pricey. I will definitely stop in again next time I am in the area! read more
