The front office staff, Ruzanne, was so friendly and kind! I had my son with me and she made sure to make us both feel welcome. When they called me in, Dr. Luiza was so attentive and knowledgable. She explained to me which tooth had broken, what happens inside the mouth and gums when this happens, and how to take care of my teeth better for the future. The trouble of finding a dentist and establishing care elsewhere was something I kept putting off. Not just me, my wife as well, who is normally really on top of it. She actually found and made the appointments. First visit is a little longer, all the X-rays and imaging need to get done. They have all the new tech to make the process faster. Went on with my cleaning and was out within 2 hours. Dental staff were all very pleasant. All future appointments already scheduled. Back on track with dental care :) NOTE: If you park in the neighborhood off Magnolia, be sure to check the posted signs. Good thing I checked because it's not just the normal one day a week for street cleaning. By the Optum building where they are located, from 8am-5pm Mon-Fri parking is by permit. I recommended the veneer and you chose the bonding instead". So effing rude! The fact that Dr. Chen does the cleaning himself, proves to me that he really cares and is passionate about helping his patients. Not only that, his unique & specialized 3 step cleaning has been the MOST effective teeth cleaning I have ever had in my 38 years. I can't emphasize enough on how effective these cleanings are and how it has maintained my fragile gum health. I know for a fact that if I went to Dr. Chen as a child, my teeth would be in perfect condition. Over the course of 5 years, Dr. Chen has replaced multiple old fillings, and is currently working on replacing an old crown & the tooth decay that has been secretly brewing underneath that poorly placed crown. Of course, we discussed the potential risks/outcome, and he showed me the before and after photos of the process (I believe most dentists would have pulled out this tooth which would result in my getting a root canal/an implant). Unprofessional Unreliable…read more Inconsiderate Disrespectful These words pretty much sums up my experience with Sam Hersel and his team. After 2 months of them literally ghosting me, (since May where I had a pre-planned appointment for cleaning) I felt compelled to finally write this review to caution others. I've been a loyal customer for 12 years. I even wrote a glowing review. I've always had a pleasant experience until last October 21st where I came in for my dental appointment. I even got a notification text 5 days prior reminding me of said appointment. When I arrived, parking was closed. I was calling and texting several times but no one answered. To my surprise the office was closed. What was so frustrating and appalling was that I can tell they read my messages but instead of being upfront to admit their mistake of failing to notify me of their closure they blatantly ignored me (see photos of my receipts). This is the text I sent them: I took off work to come here. It's been 47 minutes since my appointment time and still no answer. No apology. Nothing. You absolutely wasted my time. Never in my life have I had this experience with Dr. Sam Hersel. It's one thing to make a mistake, but to ignore me and leave me hanging....that is what I am more upset about. I was able to make another dental cleaning appointment in November (interestingly Sam Hersel answered when I called him from my work phone but not from my personal phone and barely apologized for what happened, instead making the excuse that it was a computer issue? (Yes but I know you read my texts). I decided to give them another chance . The November appt was fine. No issues. Still they never took accountability for what happened previously. At the November visit, they had me scheduled to come in on May 7th. This time I texted before driving there. They texted they were closed that week. They texted on a Tuesday 5/5. So if I had not texted, were they ever going to notify me?? They said they would call to reschedule. Two weeks passed, still no call from them. I called them to just please give me an update (I noticed they read my text but I never got a response..sound familiar?). I posted a question on their Yelp page if anyone had issues with scheduling an appt. Interestingly my post was taken down a few days later by Sam Hersel because of my "tone". Really??!! This dentist would rather take the time to take off my question post than to be a real professional, be accountable, and respond to a loyal customer he's had for years! Now it's July. Still no phone call Sam Hersel but I've already gotten a more stellar experience at a family dentist in Arcadia (review will post soon!). He did the full exam and their dental hygienist did a more thorough deep clean WITHOUT the use of numbing medication. She used the proper tools to get the plaque out, did the flossing, and toothbrushing. It didn't hurt one bit! I could've taken a nap! Sam Hersel on the other hand, was more aggressive with cleaning (it would hurt in certain areas even with numbing cream) and just a mouthwash at the end. No flossing. No toothbrushing. Subpar cleaning and horrendous customer service. Take my advice from a former loyal customer, don't come here. If you do, he may end up ghosting you.

I paid for my girlfriends treatment and handled the billing issues directly with the office and insurance. In our situation, the insurance confirmed that we in fact did over pay by over $800. We have now begun the complaint process with the insurance. We could wait up to 30 days for the insurance to investigate. The billing issue has been deeply frustrating. We received office ledgers showing balances that did not match what was reflected on the EOB determined after the insurance processed, and verified. This dentist is an in network provider and they have contracted rates that cap what a patient will be charged for different services. As a patient I would suggest not to assume that the balance that the dentist office shows is certain to be correct. What makes this situation even worse is how challenging it has been to get the overpayment refunded. When we have called the office on numerous occasions we have been told repeatedly that the finance person responsible for handling these matters is unavailable Going to the office in person multiple times to request the refund of over $800 that we paid out of pocket also did not yield any results for us. Repeatedly we were told that the finance person was not in the office for the day yet. When we asked when the finance person would arrive and be available, the staff told us that they did not know when the finance representative would be coming in. When our insurance called on our behalf, they were also told that the person responsible for finance was not available. At this stage, the constant delays are improper. The insurance company validated that an overpayment has taken place and informed the dentist office of such. A patient should not have to call multiple times, visit the office repeatedly or hope the finance person is there at the time of arrival to have money that is owed to them returned. Today we started the formal complaint process through the insurance since we were unable to resolve with the dentist directly. I suggest patient carefully review all of you EOB from your insurance company. Request an itemized ledger from the Dental office and then compare that to what your insurance says is your responsibility. What we have learned from this experience is that patients need to be careful and attentive to the finacials of their services at this dental office. I will return to this review with an update once the insurance completes its investigation and we receive our refund and things are resolved.

The ONLY thing I can suggest to improve the experience is to re-think the office sanitation procedure. Instead of cleaning a chair between visitors or using a paper liner for the chairs, there is thin plastic tarping covering the chair - that sticks right to hot legs on a hot day and makes things rather uncomfortable. It's not "green" at all to use disposable plastic (no plastic bags can go into recycling) instead of simply giving a chair a disinfecting wipe between patients. I don't know if that is what the "Green" stands for in the firm's name, but the leaf logo makes me think there should be more eco-forward practices here. I would knock off half a star, but since I can't, I'm rounding up for the excellent service, friendly staff, and ease of street parking. Thank you, Green California!

I scheduled 3 appointments within 3 weeks of each other. 2 for the deep cleanings and one for the crown where my cracked tooth was. I was contacted 6-8 times to confirm these appointments by phone, text and email. Even on a Sunday. The incompetence of scheduling the appointments is where I cancelled everything and ended up going elsewhere. If you can't get something as simple as scheduling appointments, then I'm sure not going to trust you to do any work on my teeth.
