At last, edible Indian food in the Central Valley! This is my go-to spot. I always order everything extra spicy and they don't hold back on the heat. I stick to the basics like chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, and saag paneer. They're all "pretty good." Nothing that will blow you away, but passable. Service upon dine-in experiences has been hit or miss. We went in for the buffet once, but I ordered an entree separately of the buffet, and when it came time for the bill we asked for a box and were told no, they don't allow boxes with the buffet -- without realizing we had also ordered an entree that is perfectly fine to box up. They just automatically assumed we were planning to clean out their buffet on the way out, which wasn't the best attitude to take with a customer. So afraid they might spend a penny. read more

Been here a few times but never wrote a review. Came here for dinner with a friend. We ordered pani puri, butter chicken, garlic naan, rice, bhindi masala, and the rasmalai. Everything was really good!! Food was fresh, tasty, not heavy at all (not oily), and their prices are very reasonable. Definitely recommend this place! I came here for lunch once, a long time ago, and from what I remember it was good. My friend held a party here and that went well. I've only been to one Indian Restaurant for a buffet but decided to try this one. I was the first customer so that was nice. So I sat down, and saw that there was not much for the buffet but slowly they brought out more food. Let's just say the butter chicken is bomb! I had a few of the other dishes but can't remember them but one particular was one was a bit spicy which was fine. At the end of the buffet there was some salad and dessert there Gulab Jamun. Man, that dessert is so good I had like 8 or 9 pieces lol. For $10.99 you are getting your money's worth based on the amount of food that was put out for their lunch buffet. I can say that I'll be coming back when I want some quality indian food. There's a lot more Indian Restaurants in the area you will just have to look for them. After searching for great Indian food in Modesto to no avail, I decided to expand my horizons and search nearby cities. Thankfully I found this place tucked away in Ceres behind the Hope Chest Thrift Store. They have a daily buffet but I prefer to order off the menu instead. Not that the Buffet is bad, I just prefer my food ordered to taste. The Naan here is fantastic! I could eat three or four orders all by myself. Their Butter Chicken is very tasty and is my favorite dish here. Pricing is very reasonable. Portions are decent but not large. Take this into consideration if you are sharing. Service was slow when I first visited here but was not terrible. The service greatly improved with each subsequent visit. Now they welcome me and know my order without me ever asking. Be forewarned... they often have parties, weddings, and large functions here and close the restaurant for dine in. You can still order take out though. Decided to call in today for an order and the lady on the phone was extremely rude, needs to learn some basic customer service skills if you want to keep your business going. She claimed to not understand my English and then continued to speak in English when I switched over to Punjabi. When asking her for suggestions she proclaimed that I should know what I want. I have never encountered worse service in my life. Immediately upon walking in, the staff was unwelcoming and didn't even greet us. We ordered our dishes and drinks, and our food arrived before our drinks even did. I had to get up and find the waitress to ask for our drinks and rice, and then she only brought the rice. Even after asking a third time, she brought me the wrong drink. I gave up and drank it anyway. This place does nothing to make people feel welcome, they are extremely unprofessional and discourteous. The staff doesn't even seem to want to be there and I don't blame them, there is enough flies in this restaurant to chase anyone away. OK so the most important thing to me, is how good is the food! And for this restaurant that's what I base the majority of my review on. That being said they were always about 1/2 to an hour late.
