Cashier 3/5- a little unprofessional. I came in a little after 10 so they just started serving tea. I ordered a medium Oreo milk tea with boba and I think their boba wasn't exactly ready yet and he cashier didn't realize until after he swiped my card. He flipped the register for me to sign, went "oh" and flipped it back to his view, hesitated, and then flipped it over for me to sign. He didn't even inform me that the boba would probably take a few extra minutes. Oreo milk tea 4/5 - way better than the Oreo milk tea than I had from the Monterey Park location. Lots of Oreos in it and the tea flavor was good Boba 2/5 - really hard, no flavor. Which is kind of expected since the barista was rushed to finish prepping the boba to make my drink without having to make me wait a long time. The one star is for the awful experience. I came in the store at 11:40am, the rack was empty and one worker shouted at me "we open at 12:00, it is 11:40 now!". Oh sorry...I didn't notice the soft opening business hour. But do you had to tell me what's the time now? Anyway, I waited until 11:59 and entered the store again, another worker greeted me with a "we are not open yet!". Then, we were told most of the bread would come out two hours later at around 2:00pm. We were pissed by the hot welcoming and walked away. We missed the bread that day so we returned to the store at 8:30pm another day but only to found out it was already closed. Store hours on the door was from 12:00pm to 9:00pm. Wtf??? read more

This bakery is very much like 85 degrees but just slightly smaller and with way better drinks. Most of my favorites are available here. I like how they put all the savory buns in one area. They also commit to coming up with new creations. My favorite part of Sunmerry is their drink options. They have HoneyLemon brand boba drinks which I am such a fan off. They have a nice variety of choices and the flavor is not your generic boba shop. Grab a stamp card and collect towards your free drink! read more

Yeah for a new bakery! I love their fresh bun and cakes, they also serving drinks, I ordered the sea salted cheese green tea and it taste soooooo goooood, they serve it in the hot drink cup so you can get the layered taste of the drink, must try!! I went there around closing time many of their bread were sold out but I have tried their bread from their Irvine store and they are good! They have some special cakes and bread that you can't find in other bakery. Sunmerry is my favorite go-to bakery now! This place is super clean and the staff is super friendly! Make sure you don't hit peak hours or you'll be in line for 15-20 minutes. But this bakery is awesome! It has a huge variety of Asian pastries, from egg tarts, to different types of bolo baos, croissants, and unique breads such as black sesame! The breads are always soft and chewy to the bite. I love Sunmerry because all of their pastries are made fresh and they restock pretty often. I've brought back pastries to Boston and everyone's loved them! I love how they also have a point system. There hasn't been one thing that I did not like from them. Happy Lemon is also a part of their establishment, so you can get both your boba and bread fix at the same time! read more

I recently discovered Summerry Bakery and am enjoying it! It's similar to 85C which I also often go to. I haven't tried their breads but so far I've had their egg tart, strawberry pudding, and kumquat lemon green tea. I've had better much egg tart so I wouldn't buy this again. The shell/crust was a but thin and didn't hold its shape like egg tarts normally do. The filling also had this lemony(?) flavor. BBQ Pork Pineapple Bun and pudding were pretty good! I'd get it again. The kumquat lemon green tea is what's bringing me back haha. It's a bit sour but very refreshing and not too sweet. They have a lot more options than 85C so I'd like to try their other drinks in the near future. It's also reasonably priced. I also love their green milk tea! Very milky. May be too milky for some people but I love it. Their egg pudding also tastes amazing. Fresh lemon green tea is great too. read more

Stopped by around noon on a Saturday. Some things were sold out, but place was still mostly stocked. I grabbed 7 pastries for a total of about $15. Pricing isn't that bad for a fresh bakery. I got mostly sweets, but the one savory I tried (chicken cheese?) was good. I'm down to try their other savory items. Their sweet stuff was okay. Nothing special. I grabbed one of their Oreo green tea chiffon cakes as well. I haven't tried it yet, but I was pleasantly surprised at the price. I expected it to be more expensive because of the size. I made sure to try their custard bun since everyone has their own take on it. To me, it tasted like the filling was vanilla pudding rather than custard. Add the glazed outer bun to it, and the whole thing was too sweet. I was disappointed. I stopped at 7 items because I figured that was already too many in one trip. There were other things I was interested in trying though, so I'll stop by again when I'm in the area. read more

This place is basically a copycat of 85° Bakery but their selection is better! F O O D: my favorites so far are their chocolate croissants, roasted beef sandwich, and curry pan (bread)! This place totally gets it when it comes to chocolate croissants: usually you get a fluffy croissant with VERY little chocolate inside. Well to counter that, this place douses chocolate on top, I'm not even exaggerating. The roasted beef sandwich has I think a brioche bun brushed with buttery garlic and stuffed with cheese and beef and is baked to perfection. Lastly, the curry pan is fresh, fluffy, and satisfying to pull apart! I think the curry is made with ground beef, Yukon potatoes, and chopped carrots. Mmm. If 85 doesn't step it up with their selections I'll just start coming here for these delicious pastries! P R I C E: very similar to 85's price range. I think they were doing a BOGO deal when I went so my total came out ~$20. I also received a $5 off coupon for my next visit. S E R V I C E: The staff is okay ... They get what needs to be done but if I were to compare them to 85 they're not quite on par. Just like 85, they announce "fresh bread" when a batch comes out but it's never in unison so it's somewhat awkward lol. What kind of annoyed me was when this lady brought out a fresh batch and just swooped in as I was reaching for the cabinet of pastry she was about to refill. I tried to wait patiently (even though I was in her peripheral vision) yet she didn't bother to acknowledge me or let me quickly grab the pastry. Eventually there was a line behind me of others trying to browse as well so I had to move onto the other selections. I guess what I'm trying to say is that they're not very attentive. Overall, I'd come back, maybe even recommend to others. I just hope the staff members would be a bit more attentive to their customers! read more

Very excited about this place opening because I've started getting tired of JJ Bakery lol. I brought my mom here and was pretty happy to see the $1 bread specials that supposedly change every day of their soft opening. While they don't have a huge selection, they do have some interesting new types of bread (tofu dough??? lol interesting) I'm giving them two stars because: - Their hours are inconsistent as hell. - The plastic bag they wrap the each bread in doesn't have a seal on it like other bakeries do. I really hate that because the cashier is sometimes careless and will toss the bread into the bigger plastic bag upside down and the bread falls out -_- -Some cashiers will place the bread after they put it in the plastic back onto the tray...that is already oily from the bread sitting on it lol. So then my packaged bread is oily on the inside and outside...thanks...lol. read more

I'm sorta late to the cheese foam hype because I've only tried them from Tancha and Sharetea; however, the prices here are way more reasonable than both establishments listed. I'm glad that I can have Happy Lemon whenever I want since it's nearby! Tancha is 6$ for a dinky little cup and Sharetea seals their cheese foam drinks so I'm not able to taste the tea and the foam together. Here you have the choice to either get the lid or the seal so I opted for the lid. I ordered the jasmine green tea with foam for myself and it felt so light and refreshing! The foam wasn't salty and I liked the tiny sprinkle of matcha that they topped it off with. My only regret was that I finished my drink fast because I got the lid. The service was pretty standard for a boba establishment and I have no complaints about that. It did take a little while to recieve my drinks because my sister's (milk tea oreo + puff cream) took some effort to make. Overall, this place is bomb and I think I'll come back soon to buy some pastries! read more

Out of all locations I've been to in SoCal, Temple City is one of the more worst ones. This bakery is located in a busy plaza and often times there's little to no bread left by the evening time. I remember the only bread left was a couple of burnt breads and because I came from a long distance I wanted to buy at least one bread. I asked the worker if there were other breads (perhaps in the back somewhere) than the burnt ones and they said it is not burnt even if it appeared like it. They were wrong... I bought a couple and tasted the least burnt looking one of the bunch and it definitely like a over toasted burnt bread. Despite this experience, I don't think there's much to say about Sunmerry because their breads are usually good if you come early and but the drinks are always hit and miss depending who makes it but I would recommend getting MeetFresh drinks across the store or go to a boba store if you don't want to gamble to be disappointed. The ambiance inside the store is usually a lot of people or empty if they ran out of breads. read more

New fresh bakery in town Sunmerry. Soft opening this week and had to try it while we are passing by. They yell fresh bread when things just come out of the oven to be placed in the bins. I can't wait for this place to have everything fully up and running. They had tasters of cakes and I tried the the green tea with red bean filling it was very tasty not overly sweet and just the right amount of moisture in the cake. I hate dry or overly moist cakes. Perfection in a bite, if I wasn't heading out for the night I would have brought one home to share. I had the egg tart and it was perfect, not overly wet and crust becomes pasty or overly doughy. I love that this place is connected to Happy Lemon because I can get my bread and boba at the same time. Although I mainly come here to get Happy Lemon, their bread is not too bad. It feels very similar to 85 bread if you are looking for an alternative to it. I like that it similar to 85 and they have other selections of bread too. The plaza that it is located as a lot of different restaurants. So if you're looking to do a little bread shopping afterwards, this would definitely be the place to go. The Happy Lemon that is located inside the store has a smaller menu compared to the other locations, so don't be disappointed if they do not have your favorite drink. My goto Happy Lemon drink is either the Jasmine Green Tea with Salted Cheese or the Matcha Latte with Salted Cheese. If you want to add salted cheese to any of the drinks, it's an additional dollar which is normally what I do for the matcha latte because they don't have it on the menu. Sadly they don't have lids for their large size drinks, so if you're planning to drink it straight from the lid, I would suggest getting a medium. read more

The first time I tried Sunmerry bakery was when I was in Irvine. I liked their bread quality and thought too bad there isn't one in L.A. But my wishes came true when I saw they had opened a new location in Temple City! Today was their grand opening day (3/6/17) and they had a special promo, where you get a $5 coupon for future use when you make at least a $15 purchase. Also, if you sign up for their rewards program with an email, they give you a page full of coupons. Their bread quality is fresh and soft. My favorite item is the chocolate danish! Only serious chocolate lovers will truly appreciate this divine pastry! It's only $2 for a giant sized rectangular croissant filled with chocolate on the inside and covered with a generous chocolate coating on top. It's a great deal if you compare it to Starbuck's chocolate croissant, since Sunmerry's is much larger in size (over 6"!) and less expensive. Welcome to the neighborhood, Sunmerry! Still in its opening phases, Sunmery has its positives and negatives. There aren't much options to choose from in terms of bread. There is a sale counter as well, but don't expect it to be stocked. When I went it was empty. As far as the people shouting "Fresh Bread" I didn't experience that even though I spent half an hour at the bakery. Most of the time spent was standing in line waiting to pay. The line was moderately long with only two cashiers. I ordered a Boba milk tea, however it was not good at all. It lacked the tea taste, and was very bland. The person that made my drink struggled with the sealing machine for the boba. She peeled it off 4 times, stuck her fingers in the drink, spilled it as well, and ended up just giving us the same cup. I was irritated already so I didn't even bother asking for another cup, even though a quarter of it was gone from her mistake. The bread was pretty good, soft and well flavored. However the prices are on the more expensive side. Located in the new plaza on the corner of Rosemead and Las Tunas, there's plenty of parking. I'll return to update this review when they're not going through there opening phases. read more

There's something just about the way they do their pastries and the buttery flakey skin just hits the spot! Do yourself a favor and try the ube pastry, the taro waltz, green tea crossiant, matcha danish. Finish it off with a fresh drink from happy lemon! Their teas are great, perfectly brewed, and have a nice note. And their cheese cream hits a whole other level of sea salt top.Their fresh grapefruit green tea is delish. I ordered a taro cake from here yesterday, picked it up at 3:00pm and ate it at around 8:00pm, and the cake was sour. I kept the cake in the refrigerator the entire time as well after getting it. The cake itself seemed fine but the taro was definitely rotten. How can a business leave their cakes around for so long and still try to sell it. All of the pastries and breads are freshly made the day of, it is one of the few bakeries in sgv that still have Chinese authenticity to it and not completely Americanize the pastries. Found my "dirty"bread here!! This bread is very popular in Korea and in Asia. It's basically like a chocolate croissant with many layers of chocolate sauce. Yum!! However they are not as good as I expected, not light , crisp and fluffy enough, but they satisfy my craving!! Bakery, pastry, bread are average = 3 stars. Still open during the pandemic. They've made some adjustments in order to more safely service customers. You're bread choices are now packed directly into bags or boxes as trays are no longer being used. The bread choices here, compared to 85 degrees, are more to my liking. The mochi, ube, and red bean buns are some of my favorites. The dragon fruit mango is also a unique offering that, if available, is a must try. The jasmine cheese foam is almost worth the trip to Sunmerry on its own. The jasmine tea is perfectly sweet and refreshing. The cheese foam rounds out the flavor profile and makes the drink satisfying. Unfortunately the service here is at best average, and frequently devolves to abysmal particularly when things get busy. read more

Sunmerry is literally the best Asian bakery I know. Their breads, biscuits, buns, and rolls are always top tier. Sunmerry also has really good cakes. They're a little on the pricier side, however, they're decorated really nicely. Super good for birthday cakes. They even have cakes with animal faces! Their boba, Happy Lemon, is also really good. They're known for their cheese foam. I always come here with my family for sweet snacks and sometimes a refreshing tea. During covid, they're taking precautions by not using trays and having customers put the bread they want in bags. The workers also make sure that everyone remains 6 feet a part.
