Came in recently to pick up some egg tarts and for the BOGO because Sunmerry Bakery is one of the places that makes my favorite egg tarts and bread. However, I am concerned with how hot it has been, and it was so hot when I came into the store. With the bread on display and the store so hot, I was so concerned it might not be safe to eat, so I didn't bother getting any. It was really difficult to enjoy the visit, especially since the air conditioner felt like it wasn't working. I understand that bakeries can get hot from the oven, but I hope that on my next visit, there will be some ventilation. I hope Sunmerry can address this issue, as the staff was nice, but I hope the heat cools down so my next visit will be more enjoyable. read more

I don't understand why this place is always out of Oolong tea. The first time I went after the Sunmerry newsletter announced that they they will start serving Oolong tea. The second time was a few weeks later when they started their summer BOGO promotions. Both times they ran out of Oolong. I'm starting to suspect they never started brewing the tea. read more

Regular at Sunmerry bakery. Highly recommended Sea Salt Jasmine Green tea with no sugar. Taiwanese pineapple cake perfectly balance of crust & not too sweet. Soft pull apart bread & tuna sandwich made fresh daily. Love the ice box cake crunchy chocolate. Please keep it consistent on sugar level. If I was able to choose 3.5 star I would. I went yesterday during a heat wave and it was warmer inside the bakery than it was outside. This is the second time I've to this bakery and it's extremely stuffy and hot in there. I don't know how the employees can work in those conditions. This is my go to Sunmerry. I love the staff's friendliness, Angie is always so sweet and patient when helping me decide. I particularly love this bakery's version of the chocolate concha's. Not your authentic Mexican concha, however still yummy, as they are filled with hazelnut cream Their egg tarts are good as well. Customer area is always clean. Small bakery, similar to 85C, located in the Camellia Square plaza on Rosemead and Las Tunas. The plaza has many restaurants so it gets crowded and parking can be difficult. There is additional parking available in an underground lot. I must have popped in right after the morning crowd because nearly half of the bread/pastry shelves were empty. I managed to grab a couple savory breads, a couple sweet breads, and one of their beautifully made moon cakes. Service was ok. Nothing stood out. I wasn't greeted or helped in any way. I took my friend here to try the egg tarts and we ended up buying 3 boxes. Usually, the egg tarts are really good here. However, this was what I was served today: trash. They look awful (the inside is burnt and fell off into the bottom) and do not taste good. I am very disappointed and wish I did not recommend my friend to come try it today. We pre-ordered a cake for pick up, which was quick and seamless. We ordered the Matcha Tiramisu ($38), which was great for our party of 12 people. The matcha flavor is balanced well for a creamy texture. They also topped it with an adorable white chocolate bear, which isn't hollow inside. I also liked how they included a happy birthday sign, candles (these were nice candles too, not the cheap basic kind), and plates/utensils. It's my first time here, and walking in, it felt a little bit fancier than an 85* or Paris Baguette. I had visited shortly after they opened for the day, and a few employees were placing fresh pastries in mini bags to be displayed for people to grab an go. They seemed to have a signature item called a Bolo. I had asked one of the girls there is this like the pineapple bun that most places have? She didn't know. I asked about the BBQ bolo, and all she could tell me was that it had the red wet meat in it. It's not the best explanation, but I just kept working my way around. Once, I was at the register to pay. I asked the lady about the Boli bun again, and she was like, there's no pineapple in it. I had to educate her and tell her they call it a pineapple bun because the outside texture was like a pineapple. There was one other lady who worked there that stepped in and answered my questions about the drinks. She was super knowledgeable and helpful. Items I purchased: 1. Iced mango matcha - This was a delicious drink. I'm happy I had picked this instead of a Vietnamese coffee. The matcha was fluffy and thick like a milkshake with the mango it was perfection. 2. Chocolate concha - I love the chocolate pieces on the outside and the surprise hazelnut on the inside. This was easily one of my favorites. 3. Bolo bun - Basically a pineapple bun. It was ok in my opinion. 4. Taro mochi - Nice and fluffy. I kind of wished it had a little more taro in it. 5. Strawberry and matcha white chocolate donut - Very tasty and chewy. I liked that it didn't have a greasy feel to it. 6. Strawberry cloud donut - This was a delicious surprise. Nice and fluffy. Strawberry filling wasn't overly sweet. 7. Almond cookies - Crispy and flavorful Overall, everything I tried was amazing. I can't wait to come back and try the Japanese bagels. My only recommendation is to educate employees a little more on the items being sold. It's unappealing when employees don't know the items or let alone tried it. read more

Okay I dont usually write reviews but the employees in this store are clueless. This isn't the 1st time that this happens. I ordered pick up from Grub Hub and when I picked up....they said it's the wrong store. I showed them the location and it clearly said that its the right location but they kept insisting its the wrong LOCATION LOL and then after that they said that they don't stop making lemon tea at this location. So which lie is the correct one? Spoke with what looks like the manager and she confirmed that they dont make lemon tea anymore. This happened on Friday 12/26/2025 @ 4 PM. I ordered this year around February 2025 and the same thing happened....but I didn't want to write a review and I let it go. At that time I also ordered ice lemon tea and they said that it was the wrong location and they dont have my order. Ugh!!! This is ridiculous I came in and it was SO HOT!!!! Way hotter than outside. I wouldn't trust any of the baked goods. I came here on a Friday night and it wasn't crowded at all. The matcha tiramisu caught my eye and had high hopes.. but it's not very tiramisu-y, more like dry cake with a little bit of cream in between layers. The hokaido cream cake was a bit better but also kind of dry. Most importantly, the baked goods looked good. Make sure you refrigerate all the baked goods if they are not consumed immediately. Open 7 days a week from 8am to 9pm or 10pm. Mall parking, but not enough spaces for all the businesses here. Service - This is where they failed. BOGO, Buy One Get One Free - Promotion for specific drinks, see picture. Fake AI advertisement. I showed a drink they posted on IG and asked the cashier that I want exactly that drink. End up I got a cup missing 2 items in the picture and the clerk claimed that the picture was done by AI and not providing any solution. What kind of excuse is this? Service bad and the drink taste like water + sugar. You are better going Alittle Tea in San Gabriel for cheaper price with 4 free toppings of your choice and you can choose no ice. Cashier charged me for 4 egg tarts and only gave 3. I had to go back and ask for the missing item. Tea orders for me and other customers were consistently wrong. I ordered a regular oolong tea without milk. It says it on the label, and they put milk in it. Called them out on it and had them redo the order. It's very disorganized in the store. I've been going to this specific location occasionally since it's the closest bakery to my house. Holy shit.. how did customer service go downhill like this??? Note: As someone who works in Customer Service myself, I normally do NOT have the energy to put up a 1-star review on Yelp, but this experience pushed me to the edge. I took both my parents to stop by for a quick bakery purchase, and since they have a BOGO special for 3 drinks (Boba Milk Tea, Sea Salt Cream Green Tea, & Matcha Latte), I decided to make the purchase and hopefully get a milk tea (w/o boba, 30% sugar, less ice) and sea salt cream green tea (less ice). Once my parents got their breads and went outside to wait for me, I ordered and spoke to the Customer Service Team (agent at the front was Marissa). When I asked to get the two drinks based on preferences, they told me that the two drinks have to match and not mix. STRIKE #1: Since when did free drink have to match exactly the 1st drink? There are 3 available drinks for the BOGO, right? That's why it's called "Buy One, Get One (Free);" if there are multiple drinks in a BOGO promotion, it's supposed to be mix & match... I then changed my mind to get 2 milk teas w/ 30% sugar and light ice, and then Marissa told me, "So for BOGO, we offer only either 100% sugar or none." STRIKE #2: Out of all the times going to a Sunmerry Bakery getting their BOGO promos, I've ALWAYS been assisted with sugar adjustments on my milk teas. Why does it have to be 100% or 0%? Why did this location stop doing this? Mind you again, this is their regular milk tea, and yes sugar level can be adjusted to either 0/30/50/80/100. Ok fine, so I stuck with 2 milk teas with light ice, but Marissa told me that the boba is not ready. I asked her that I don't want boba, just the milk teas. So she double-checked with the other staff and was able to confirm that we can omit the bobas. However, she entered "Boba Milk Tea" onto the register without putting "no boba," because I guess their system apparently doesn't have an option to omit the topping. They were out of boba and are making the batch that I won't need to care about. This is where the 3rd strike comes in. Mind you, there were 6 middle-aged Asian women were waiting in-line right behind me to order their drinks not on the BOGO, so theoretically, I should be getting my drinks 1st before them. So I waited and waited and noticed that Marissa and the other staff member making the drinks that they were having trouble sorting out the tickets. Then once they started sorting everything out (for a good chunk of 15 mins), they made the drinks and handed them over to those 6 women. Did they forget my drinks? I asked the 2nd staffer to see if she can update the status of my drinks, but she kinda saw my receipt and went away to handle other drinks. I then suddenly realized that the word "Boba" was on my ticket, and they were actually waiting on the Boba that I didn't want. I pointed out the confusion to Marissa, and she said she told me that the boba is still currently being made. I clarified with her that I never wanted the boba; she added "Boba Milk Tea x2" to the ticket, so she would remind her team to disregard the boba!! She didn't tell them... So I waited little over 30 minutes for my two simple drinks, because not only did my ticket get disorganized, but Marissa also didn't bother to keep tabs on my drinks that I never boba (and she notated "Boba" onto my drink...). She FINALLY started on my drinks, but once she finished them, she just placed them on the counter for me to retrieve. No formal apology, no gift card, no guarantee for free drink, nothing. This entire waiting period after my purchase is STRIKE #3. If you're going to do a weekly or monthly BOGO, please ensure that your customer service agents have good memory and go out of their way to ensure great customer experience for every buyer as much as possible. Please staff at least 3 people in the drink counter to make sure the drinks are correctly made in-order and efficiently. If you know you have made a mistake, please own up to it and make it up for your customer in any additional way to improve their experience. This location in Temple City made me and my parents wait a whole 30 minutes for this bizarre BOGO experience. Too bad I still have to get their coconut raisin breads just for my mom (because she likes theirs), but I will be going to a different Sunmerry location. STAY AWAY from this one in Temple City! It will save you the drive, parking headache, and poor customer experience that they're apparently fine with now. Judging by this entire yelp page, they don't check the reviews at all, so I wouldn't expect them to take negative experiences like mines & many others' seriously. read more

This location has the breads cutely displayed when you walk in. There aren't many tables and chairs to eat and hangout though. I'm currently obsessed with their new bagel line. They offer original, blueberry, and an everything bagel. Each bagel is handcrafted with cream cheese and Japanese mochi flour. I love the chewy consistency and light texture. These bagels are easy to eat on the go and can be popped into the air fryer for a quick breakfast. read more

Might be a personal preference, I just don't like their bread and other pastry items. They are chewy in texture & doesn't always taste so fresh. The staff aren't that friendly or patient. Sometimes I go there with my senior parents, it breaks my heart a little when the young staff members are impatient or dismissive with them. The ambience is okay. I guess if you like their pastry then this is okay for you. I'm not a fan. But I do enjoy their location in Santa Anita Mall. The staff there is lovely. There's something fun about chewing on a bun while walking the mall. But then again, you'll have to walk through the mall to get there lol so I suppose when you're in a hurry and if you think their food is okay, then it's an okay option. Passed by this bakery after stuffing our faces at the v m mrestaurant nearby. They have all sorts of fresh individually wrapped pastries and drinks available. When we went they had a couple tables set up with all different flavors of moon cakes. Went with their strawberry mochi donut, cream brioche donut, and another cream style pastry. Each varied in price from $3-5 each. They also had a buy one get one free offer on drinks so we ordered a couple. Don't make the same mistake as me. I didn't think to check the receipt before I left.
