    tomato jam chicken on menu
    Sarah F.

cute restaurant... however, the food was lack luster. One of us got the curry chicken sandwich and they said it had no flavor... same with the turkey reuben .. nothing to write home about. My issue was the tomato jam chicken sandwich... the menu says it has "all natural chicken"... silly me I guess but I thought it was grilled chicken breast or something.. it was chicken thigh and pink.. but like raw looking pink... the waitress said it was cooked all the way but I was icked out at that point and didn't touch it. I think they should have that said on the menu since I wouldn't have ordered if it was thigh. Maybe I would need to come back and try the breakfast food since that looked good.

    Western omelette, potatoes and biscuit

My first visit to Honey's on a Monday for breakfast/lunch and I am so glad we went. We were lucky to get parking right out front. We arrived around 11:30 and got seated immediately and there were a few open tables still left so a good time to go. I would say the greeter was not super friendly and it took a good 10 plus minutes for someone to come to the table. A waitress that noticed that we had not been helped for awhile caught my eye as I was looking for our server stopped by and took our drink order and apologized for the wait and shared that most servers were just coming on duty. So that was the only negatives I have for our lunch. The restaurant is not super large but it is very cute. Has a lot of cute decorations and a good feel, although I am not a big fan of plastic over the seat coverings but I understand it makes it easier to keep it clean. I ordered a western omelette (don't forget to tell them to add cheese or you don't get any) and potatoes and a biscuit. Also had a glass of the fresh squeezed OJ and it was perfect. The food was excellent and the portion size was good, my only comment was that the biscuit could have been a bit more cooked but the taste was divine. My husband had the reuben and fries and his was very good also. The cost was a little over $50 so not somewhere I would go daily for breakfast but it is located in the tourist area so to be expected. I would recommend a visit for a great meal and I am looking forward to going again and trying some pancakes or French toast. Enjoy!

Wow what an experience the restaurant has an old school style. The servers are very attentive and they make sure you have everything you need. The breakfast is amazing, we has omelettes and they can feed 6 people. When in Lewes stop by you wont regret it!

Third choice as we wanted Eggcellent, but, they were closed for employee appreciation day. Went across the street to Olive and Oats but that was very limited coffee and sandwich shop. Spouse saw this one on line and it was closer ( very close actually) than going to Rehoboth or Dewey. Sat immediately comfortable and next to the window. I must say it was more than I could have hoped for. Touristy yet cozy ambiance. Service was fast and coffee was refilled almost immediately, Eggs Benedict for me of course with a sausage side and Tea The Tea was really really good. I had the Honey tea pot, they had several choices I can't remember them. Just use caution with the pot mine was metal and the handle got really hot. The spouse had Chesapeake Benedict with Latkas. She said it was excellent and the Latakia was huge. She had to bring most of the Latakia and crab home. It was very busy but the staff kept up. $ 59 plus tip for Breakfast , but you in a tourist town and this was close to downtown. I was satisfied with the meal and fantastic service, but one expensive breakfast per trip is enough.

    Roasted red pepper omelette

We found this restaurant using Yelp (so thanks yelpers!) walked right in to be seated on a Tuesday morning around 11ish. A large menu with lots of choices but knew I had to try the Latka and wanted an omelette so went with the roasted red pepper. The food came out quick and was hot and incredibly delicious. I also tried the fresh squeezed orange juice and it was amazing. If I was in town longer I would be going back for a second breakfast for sure. A cute vibe and worth stopping in.

You really ought check out Honey's whilst in the Lewes, Delaware environs. I'm pretty sure that their hours are 7AM until 3PM daily. We visited again on New Year's Eve which was a Tuesday at 12 noon. They were busy, yet we were seated immediately upon checking in and our order was taken within 5 minutes. Our waitress was attentive, but 2 other servers still checked on us and asked whither we needed coffee or anything. I had Eggs Benedict served on a bed of Latka with mushrooms, red pepper, cheese, and spinach which was absolutely delicious. My wife got 2 eggs, toast, and latka. I didn't mention that we were served within 15 minuof our order having been taken. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean, and someone whom I've seen here on several occasions in the past, likely a co-owner, recognized me and said it was good to see us again. This is a place to come for a filling breakfast or lunch during the aforementioned hours where you don't say to yourself "My God, What have I done?" such as with a fast food establishment. We both had coffee which was freshly brewed. Our total came to $50, however I'm willing to pay for value, particularly if I won't be hungry again for many hours! I believe they have another location not too far , but can't comment on it. Try it ou!

Walking into this place was very exciting. The restaurant itself is super cute and I think I was expecting way more. When we walked in the hostess was friendly, greeted us and sat us. The waitress on the other hand was definitely not as friendly. It felt really awkward sitting there and she didn't give us the warm feeling that she wanted to even be serving us. If you like any other type of creamer, besides half-and-half, bring your own. The food was way too much, but wasn't the wow factor taste wise. We definitely will not be back, but it's always fun to try new places.

What a great last minute find during our one day trip to the beach. We weren't sure what type of food we wanted, so our orders were perfect. The blueberry French toast was on spot. It wasn't too sweet, and the bread was so good. The Honey 's pressed sandwich had lots of flavor and splitting the two dishes was a perfect way to start our day. Savory and sweet with a cup of hot coffee. Couldn't have asked for a better combo. Would definitely go back.

Loved the potato latkes that came with Eggs Benedict and Omelettes! We come here for breakfast every time we are in town. They are consistently good!

Get in early for this popular breakfast/brunch spot. Plenty of street parking available. The Bloody Mary was overly salty and boozy. The latke was a different version that I'm used to and could use a bit more seasoning. It had a cheesy inside and was hoping for a bit more, the home fries are way better since they are red potatoes. The Spanish omelet was tasty and as expected, no need for additional seating or sauce. Very filling.

We started dinner with two cocktails, they made my extra dirty gin martini beautifully! And it was ice ice cold. My fiancé had their Hoagie-hattan and he really enjoyed it! We had the cheese platter and escargot for our appetizers, the escargot was definitely the star here. So garlicky and warm. Absolutely delicious. I had the lobster ravioli and he had the short ribs. Both were absolutely DELICIOUS. The ribs were fork tender and the ravioli were packed with seafood flavor. Definitely a must try in downtown Lewes!

I have never had escargot served this way. The chef is supposedly from nice. I had the hangar steak. And frites. It was good to excellent and $45. A little pricey for a hangar steak but it was copious and I took it home. So I guess that gets a good to excellent but expensive. My two colleagues both hotter short ribs. They were moist and small and surrounded by celeriac purée. The wine was expensive at $16 a glass. So $48 for three large glasses. All in all an ok meal but it cost over $200. I say go get a steak at rare or 1776 or harvest tides. Service was excellent. Ambiance was charming.

We've had the chance to try several restaurants around Lewes, and while we've had some great meals, this one definitely stood out. Since we came on a Monday mid-afternoon, the atmosphere was relaxed and we never felt rushed. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and our server was excellent--pleasant, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The food was delicious! I ordered the lobster roll, while my husband had the soup and sirloin melt sandwich. My lobster roll was simple but so satisfying, with plenty of lobster salad--which, of course, is exactly what I wanted! The menu has a great variety of options, whether you're in the mood for seafood or something else, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting, with TVs around if you want to catch a game while enjoying your meal. It's a little off the main stretch in Lewes, but absolutely worth finding. Great food, great service, reasonable prices, and an overall enjoyable experience. We'll definitely be back--and I'm already looking forward to another visit next summer! Highly recommend!

The portions for most of the food is deceptively large and all scratch recipes. You will be leaving with take-out boxes for sure. The Service was pretty awesome. Last summer, my wife and I discovered First State, which at the time was still new. Dallas was our server the first time that we ate at First State, and then we were lucky enough to have him again this time and he remembered us. Before we could get a word out he said "Hey, welcome back!" like we had been friends for years. BEST SERVER EVER! Extremely attentive without crowding our table. Very knowledgeable. I suspect that that is a reflection of the whole staff. The hostess was pleasant. A bit quiet but pleasant. The bartender, Joel (?), seemed fun and engaging. He welcomed everyone like they were regulars, and really looked like he was enjoying his job. Even the young kid that dropped our food was on point, setting our dishes in the right places without asking. Making sure that we didn't need anything before he left. The whole experience was great. I'm a fan and we will be back. The atmosphere and vibe was fun and relaxing. Not your standard rush to order, eat fast, and "here's your bill" sit down restaurant. The restaurant is very clean and it is open and spacious. The place has that great neighborhood brewpub vibe feel. We LOVED the beer label walls! I want to do that in my man cave! Awesome idea. The large TVs were playing a variety of sports. The music was pretty good. Maybe a touch loud. They have live music that seemed to be setting up as we were leaving. Apparently they have live music every Friday and Saturday. We wish that we could have stayed. Dallas said that the band coming in that night was pretty popular. All in all, First State was a fun, and delicious dining experience. my only criticism would be that it is a bit pricey. I understand that scratch restaurants are going to be more expensive, but charging someone for a small container of sauce seems a little like nickel and dime budgeting. Understandable but not attractive All in all, First State is a great time. Ask for Dallas. He's next level service and you'll leave with a new friend. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR FIRST STATE!!!!
