One of my favorite small donuts shops!! The owner of this place is def one of the nicest people I have met and makes me want to keep coming back. Service: you are greeted right away and are given so many different options to choose from. After you choose the donuts you want, the owner always adds some extra donuts in my bag for me to try!!! Love love love the service here!! Ambiance: this is more of to go place with not much seating. Place is super clean. Food: EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS!! I can't decide which one i like the most since all the donuts I've tried have been amazing!! These donuts are super light, not the heavy type like hurts donuts, and not super sweet-just like the right amount! Make sure to try the mini cinnamon rolls and mini donut holes that they put dunkin donuts to shame! I can easily eat 2-3 donuts without feeling super full :D Will be back again soon! read more

There seems to be a donut shop at every corner this area. #obesity! By far, this is the best one that I've been to in the Plano/Frisco area.. The donuts are amazing and the owner is super friendly. She always throws in extra "munchkins"(not sure what they are called when not at Dunkin Donuts!). The prices are great too. The dozen donuts were around 16 dollars compared to 23 at another place in Frisco. This will be my go to donut shop in the future. read more

I grew up going here my whole life and after moving away I ABSOLUTELY come back every time I'm in the DFW metroplex and the quality remains top tier! We've lived in Plano for over a decade and have tried to find a donut shop as good as our favorite, Golden Star Donuts in Richardson to no avail. For years we've driven to Richardson, or stopped and gotten donuts as was passed through. A friend mentioned that his family really liked Sonny Donuts. This friend is a foodie - I trust his opinion. So we stopped to get donuts the other week after a morning of hard speed work at the track. I can't believe we didn't discover Sonny's earlier. I won't say they are better than our Richardson favorite (though they may be) - I will say they are equally good and I have no need to go to Richardson unless I just happen to be there. When we arrived at 9 on Sunday morning, there was a line to the front door (a good sign). Two people worked the register while at least one person (that's all I saw) was busy "makin' the donuts" in the back. The servers - probably the owners - were cheerful, helpful and gave the BEST commentary on everything we ordered. "Oh - good choice! We just made that." and "The blueberry cake is delicious - you'll love it." It made me want to order one of everything. Instead, we limited ourselves to a cinnamon roll, a blueberry cake donut and a jalapeno sausage kolache. The donuts were warm and creamy with just the right amount of glaze. The glaze wasn't overly sweet, so you didn't go into sugar shock. The kolache was larger (about twice the size of the standard bun-sized kolache) than what you normally find in a local donut shop, The top was sprinkled with chopped jalapenos before baking. The owners also tossed in some donut holes and mini cinnamon rolls. Honestly, I judge donut shops that don't give you donut holes - those should always be a couple of little donut holes to pop in your mouth, warming you up for your donut experience. To get not only the holes, but little mini cinnamon rolls (which I've never seen before) was amazing. It's a great shop! read more

Update 06/01/2020 My daughter and I were just talking how we really miss Sunny Donuts and hope they have been able to survive the pandemic and everything else that's been going on. I moved back to California a few months ago and am really missing supporting and seeing our favorite staff at Sunny Donuts! Suzy is the sweetest lady! I used to swing by right at close on Sundays and buy up any leftovers to take to work at the library. This is one of those places that always stand out in your mind of putting out the best product week after week and a small business worth supporting! Just go there..nom nom nom... I'd been looking around for a mom n pop type of place in Plano to make superhero themed birthday donuts and decided on this spot! After reading the reviews, I expected friendly service, which I did receive. Everyone that came in while I was waiting for my donuts to be boxed up seemed to be regulars! I called them Thursday morning to double check, and they'd already created sample donuts for me to see! It was their first time trying to create that style of donuts and I really appreciated the efforts! For 14 Bday superhero themed donuts, they charged $29.99, a pretty reasonable price. The owner even threw in a bag of freshly made donut holes for me. They require that you prepay- I prefer this method because I can be in and out in two minutes. The colors of the doughnuts matched the dumptrucks perfectly!!! The best news about Sunny Doughnuts is I FORGOT to pick up the order before they close at noon on Saturday. I was so busy getting ready for the party I just forgot the dessert. Sean, the owners son tried over and over to get me and his parents, the cooks waited an hour and a half after they close for me. These are the best donuts I have had in my 60 years of life. I moved to McKinney from Plano and I will drive the distance every time for Sunny's donuts. They are not ever greasy. They are crisp on the outside and amazingly soft on the inside. The Bavarian cream are my absolute favorites! They put in enough filling that every bite gets some cream. YUM! They have donut holes and mini-cinni's that they add to every order as a bonus. Sunny and her crew are always kind and cheerful. First off let me say these 5 stars are definitely earned! I read the reviews on Yelp prior to my visit and though ok this is so many good reviews I have to try for myself. I was not disappointed and I know why these reviews are all good. I went in around 11:30 am and was greeted by this nice lady who described which each flavor was. I had about 8 and she said if you get a few more it's cheaper. I said why not and she filled a Boston creme right on stop. I told her I was new to the area and was looking for a good place and she gave a few extras donut holes for my daughter. When we got home we ate our donuts and OMG!!!! We were in love. So fresh. As soon we we walked in we could smell the delicious sweet donut dough (even through our masks!!). We ordered the Nutella stuffed, Bavarian stuffed, blueberry, and jalepeno dog. Our total was $7.77 and so she threw in a regular donut for a jackpot joke! How kind and fun!! I am so glad she did because the regular glazed donut was sooooo good (along with ALL of the others!) the dough was sooooo fresh, moist, and had the perfect texture. The Nutella donut was stuffed with real Nutella (not hazelnut filling) and the Bavarian cream tasted home made. Blueberry was super flavorful and fresh. All of the sweetness was just right and tasted like that home made sweetness that you don't usually find at restaurants. The jalepeno dog smelled so amazing I'm pretty sure I was drooling with the first whiff. I am sure this will be a new regular stop for my sister and whenever I come in town to visit! read more

The people who run this place are incredibly sweet and their donuts and sausage rolls are delicious! It's in a shopping center behind the Wendy's and while it's a very small place (not somewhere to sit and eat) they are fast to walk in and grab donuts.
