I got acrylic nails here and it's my second time getting them they are usually busy so it took longer for me to get my nails done because they are more busy focusing on people who get medi pedis. When they started to push my cuticles down it was so harsh that my cuticles started bleeding. I bled in two places and one wasn't even down ay my cuticles but my actual skin. A month later I came back to get my nails off and ended up walking out with a bleeding pinky. I am highly afraid of the machine they use because i think they might hurt me again. For the past two visits i've come out bleeding and i've paid the full price and even left them a tip and you think they've give you a discount for getting cut! I'm sorry to say but i'm going somewhere else to get acrylics and manicures. read more

Terrible service... My first & last time ever!! I was looking for a nail shop just to get a simple manicure & pedi on my only day off yesterday. They were open, so I gave it chance. The lady clearly had no idea what she was doing! She kept sticking me, and had my skin bleeding it was beyond uncomfortable. It was no reason for my hand to be hurting. Then she had no idea how to polish nails, she had to redo the polish about 3 times! And it looked TERRIBLE.. then said I have to cover it with glitter? I'm like I did not ask for glitter? And she very aggressive when grabbing my hands. My nails looked complete terrible polish everywhere it was not near neat. It looked a mess. Then to PEDICURE ..NO BATH SALT... NO BUBBLES NO NOTHING just water. And she rushed it no extra nothing! Only took 10 m on my feet, but took a HOUR for messed up nails only doing a manicure! It was terrible services, and customer service. Had no idea what she was doing, seriously and told me 45 for a simple pedicure! I went on and paid. I wish I didn't man..my hand was hurting so bad when I left! My cuticles were bleeding, and hurting all day and night. That's how bad she pulled my skin! The price is great for a mani-pedi, but when I sat down for my pedi the my manicurist "gloved up" with latex gloves. Good thing I was paying attention b/c I'm allergic to latex. When I asked if they had vinyl or other non-latex the "rude little manager with the crufty voice" started barking at me telling me telling me they only use latex... everywhere uses latex and that no one has ever "had a problem before". A woman right next to me (who was a nurse) had to intercede and tried to explain that many people are allergic to latex and that [I] would have a problem with it if I have a known allergy. The manicurist said she would work without the gloves but the "rude little manager with the crufty voice" had to be right and insisted that she wore them and started speaking in Korean to the manicurist. I got up to leave and said I would "yelp" this "issue" and didn't need to spend my money here and got up to leave. The manicurist apologized for the manager and said she would take good care of me - which she did. But it's not enough to ever make me go back there. It was sketchy to begin with, and the "rude little manager with the crufty voice" should understand that when there are about a hundred other places on Grand Street alone that perform the exact same business activities for the same price, they should learn to respect their customers. FINALLY! I've been in the Bay area for about 6 months now, and this whole time I have been trying to find a good salon, with affordable prices, without being too questionable, a tall order I know. This being the 15th place I tried I was beginning to lose hope, also considering 5 of those were Yelp recommended. One visit left me with insane scary eyelashes, I looked like a clockwork orange/ lady gaga hybrid. Not so hot. Anyways I discovered this place by mistake, when i went to the resale furniture shop next store to pick up a wine rack. I walked in and noted the prices, 23 dollars for a spa mani/pedi. 23 DOLLARS! Wow that's the cheapest I've seen, but is it quality? Why yes, yes it is! I walked in at about 6 pm, with them closing at 7pm. I only waited about 10 minutes, and there were two girls ahead of me. I was barely able to pick out a magazine or color before I was ushered into the chair. I was also afraid it might be rushed because of it being near closing. It was not! Basically I received an hour long mani/pedi, their massaging chair worked ( 6 of the other places I had been too, they did not work) the magazines were current, and the woman doing my nails was friggin incredible, she clipped my nails very thoroughly and close, the way I love. She gave me a 30 minute shoulder and hand massage which was unexpected, and well worth beyond what I was paying. My toes were also treated with great attention, after they soaked and clipped them, they applied some sort of salt scrub which left them feeling silky smooth. The massage was good, not as good as the hand lady, but still good. They also suggested some great pho places for me to check out in the area. All and all i didn't feel forced into uncomfortable conversation, the experience was very relaxing, and my nail which are now painted with OPI's red, " I'm not actually waitress." Sadly, I have to write a bad review for Sunny Nails. I have been a loyal customer for many years. I've always liked the people that work there and the space is nice and comfortable and clean. Unfortunately, after my last visit, I got a toe infection and had to go on antibiotics. I remember feeling as if the pedicurist had poked or cut me but I didn't see any blood and I was distracted by talking with my friend. Not until a few days later did my toe turn pink and start to swell up and get all pussy. I am sad because I really liked this place, but I can't go back now that this has happened. Been going to Sunny Nails with my wife for awhile. I was waiting for once for her and they convinced me to try a mani pedi. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Aight already. So the chairs have the massage thing. This place seriously robs people. I guess if you have the money to give them them go ahead. My friend was raving about this place so I said I would go with her to try it out. All I wanted was a fill and fix a broken nail. As she was removing the color from my nail I asked how much it was going to cost me. She told me $45. I stopped her right there and said no thank you. I have never paid that much fror a fill and color change. I would pay that for a full set with designs. All I use is gel nail Polish and she told me just to use that kind of Polish would cost me $20. Also $5 to remove the color I already have. Excuse my language but what the fuck. Never have I ever been to a nail shop that charges that much. I have been to my share of nail shops too. This was my regular spot for years up until about 2 years ago. I still go occasionally. Mandi is the owner and never seems to forget a name or face. I always went for mani/pedi. I was always satisfied. At the time it was $23 without tip. They have good polish choices. Holly does great acrylic nails if you're into that. My only complaint is that they seemed to start getting new technicians who were either inexperienced or elderly and were not as through as I would have liked. read more

I was in need of taking off my acrylics and I couldn't wait any longer, so I started taking them off myself. I knew I needed a mani/pedi also, so I chose to try Sunny's nails during my lunch break. When I walked in, I mentioned that I had a couple of acrylics left on my nails that needed to be taken off and the owner lady was so nice that she didn't even charge me. The mani/pedi was absolutely fantastic. They give you an exfoliating scrub on your feet/legs without the extra charge unlike other nail salons. $23 for a mani/pedi is the cheapest that I've seen that doesn't do a shitty job for the price. At 25 years old, I caved in and got my first mani/pedi after being recommended this place. I didn't know what to expect. I read the reviews and was seriously looking foward to this supposed shoulder masage that never happened. Hah, but that was ok. It was great that they open until 7pm, because I could go after work. I got may nails done first, and it was very fast and efficient. I thought she did a little too much filing on my short little nails, but I didn't say anything because I just didn't know if that was routine. I picked out a generic maroon color, which I thought came out nice. When I went for the pedi, they were very careful in helping me transport my belongings from one place to the other so I wouldn't mess up my nails. It was very nice, and the woman who helped me was very polite. While I was sitting there, they did have to turn away people because it was getting late. It seemed like they knew everyone's names who stopped by, so they have a lot of regulars. This older woman came in and asked that someone clip one of her toenails. She sat next to me and explained that she had lost grip in her hands and couldn't use nail clippers anymore and that her toe was really bothering her. The woman who helped her clipped her toenail and even went to go find a matching nail polish. The older woman declined, and one of the other girls (it must have been Mandy the owner) joked that she would charge $1/toe. Of course they didn't charge her anything and was very nice and friendly to her. They were nice and thorough with everyone who was there, even the 4 year old who was getting a mani/pedi along with both her mother and father. It's been a little over a week since, and my nails are defintely worn, but my toes are going strong. I'll check out some other places for comparison, but this was a pleasant experience. read more

I've had enough! I've been going here for over 10 years putting up with the manager's terrible attitude because she does good work. I'm done. Today, I had a 3pm appointment. She messaged me at 2:45pm asking if I could come at 3:15pm. I got there at 3:09pm and was put in the chair at 3:48pm. When I left the shop, I returned for a repair as I messed up the polish on one nail. I was left waiting (even after the gentleman in the chair, said to go ahead with my repair) and I when I inquired about how long it would take, Mandy began talking out of line and complaining about me asking about the wait time. She would not allow her technician to assist me right away even though they were 30 minutes late getting started on me. I have never seen a manager who talks to customers the way this woman does and it is just not acceptable. Sunny Nails will never get another dime out of me and I would suggest you go where you will be treated with respect. read more

I only come here to get my eyebrows done. Mandy is consistent when doing my brows. I don't have to worry that one day she'll leave me with super thin eyebrows. Which has been a nightmare at past places. On the contrary, she helped bring my thin eyebrows back. They're now fuller and defined. I was recommended to this shop by a friend & glad I came through. I have gone to the salon for over 15 years and continued even when I moved out of the immediate area I've always been satisfied with the service although the color selections are fairly limited However as I drove home after my last visit I realized that my wedding ring was Missing. I had put it in the same pocket as my wallet, so I assumed it fell out when I took my wallet out to pay. I called Sunny nails and explained no problem. The manager first spoke to the other employees in Vietnamese then came back to me on the phone and said that they were very busy and couldn't look for my ring. She also said I should look in my pockets! She went on saying they were too busy taking care of clients and she quickly hung up! I returned to the salon and looked myself, but again the manager was adament that the ring was not there. She looked at the seat I had sat in for my appointment. I again explained that I thought it was lost near the cash register, but she did not want me to look behind the counter. Well I obviously have no proof that my ring, which was a simple gold band, had been taken by one of the employees, I found their response highly suspicious and inappropriate. So as a lot of you may have guessed by my reviews, I recently have had a gorgeous baby boy but have neglected myself for the last year or so. Today I decided to treat myself to a mani/pedi. After trying to walk into a number of different nail salons on a sunny Saturday afternoon and turned away, I found Sunnys nails thru my yelp app. This is my new go to place from now on. I had Nancy who did my pedi and she was super nice and meticulous. She was such a perfectionist. I also had Heidi who did my nails. She massage neck and shoulders which I did not expect. Overall, all the ladies were nice and sweet. The environment was relaxing and for both mani/pedi $23. Totally worth it and I will be back again in two weeks to see Nancy and Heidi. read more

My mani has lasted without a single chip for a week now, too, which is phenomenal since I use my hands in water a lot. I don't think I've ever had a mani last more than a few days. So walked in on a beautiful Saturday for a full set and was told 30 mins with six nail technicians here. So ladies it seems only one person is able to do a full set so not the place to drop into without an appointment. I live in San Francisco and have never heard of such a thing. In my experience not smart to advertise services that cannot be offered on a regular/timely basis. If your true services are mani/pedi than acrylic should not be listed especially on a walk in basis. With one technician that service should be appointment only. The place looks clean and the staff was courteous but for those prices..it should be clear. But after 2 hours my nails turned out great!! read more

So I stumbled upon this place two months ago because the shop I was originally going to go to closed too early. I came in to get a full set , and Holly did amazing. I haven't been anywhere since! She takes her time and really makes sure everything is perfect just how I like it. The only reason why I said it was a four star instead of five , is only because of the pricing. It is a little pricier for a full set than any other place, But if you think about it, the way she does it, I don't mind at all. :) great quality! Ask for Holly if you want a full set. read more

You can't beat the bang for the buck you get at Sunny Nails! For $23 you get a manicure AND a pedicure as well as a shoulder massage. It doesn't get any better. The staff is attentive and professional (you don't feel like they're constantly talking about you to the other employees) and the facility is quite clean. My only complaint (and the reason for 4 stars, not 5, is that when you get a manicure and pedicure at the pedicure station (when they work on you at once) they tend to scrimp on the should massage which is included in the manicure. I was a bit disappointed last time but will definitely go back time and time again! Also, really convenient street parking right in front. I have never had a problem finding a spot. read more
