Wife wanted to eat here after reading all the reviews and also because we like to support local. Small inside, but very cute and warming. I believe there were only 3 tables and 5-6 bar stools but more room outside that can seat 10-12 people. Employees were nice and food was very good. I will say that I thought food was over priced, not trying to bash on restaurant, just my opinion. We ordered 2 whole sandwiches and 1 half w/cob salad, 2 drinks and 4 cookies for $45. I think the first time we ate here was about 10 years ago or so. We don't get in often... but never disappointed. Food is always fresh and the best of ingredients. We wanted to try a new breakfast spot and came across this local place. From the moment we walked in we were treated like old friends and regulars. We told them it was our first time and everything was explained to us. We ordered coffee, a breakfast panini and quiche. The coffee was poured over and tasted great. The works breakfast sandwich is fabulous like most everyone who has tried it, has stated. The herb crusted bread with the cheese crusted on the outside is a perfect base to start this sandwich on, then the perfectly baked eggs, are so soft, with the avocado smashed and the bacon, it just sends it over the top. First impressions can either make or break a business and if I feel at all unwelcome, I will not hesitate to high tail it out of there: so glad I came here instead of the place I had originally planned to eat...which shall rename nameless. But I digress. Seating is a bit sparse but that was a non-issue as we got our food to go. I did the half a Pesto Chicken Panini while the co-habby opted for the Tuscan Chicken Panini. Both were the perfect compliment to the Bread and Cie sourdough that I'm already a huge fan of in itself. We shared a full sized Chicken Caesar salad to fill us up and it was a great light lunch for two. Randomly wanted a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich for lunch and came across this gem on google. I checked in on yelp and was given free cookies! They were bite sized chocolate chip and they were mouth watering yummy! My order took about 7-8 minutes to come up. The panini?! Perfectly buttered, cheesy, and crunchy on the sourdough bread. Bacon nice and crispy, I was in heaven. I washed everything down with a made-to-order strawberry lemonade. Wish I had more of the fruit because it was some of the best fruit I've had. Everything tasted fresh, and was for sure made with love lol. It will be a staple on my lunch breaks for work! read more

I got a flat tire and ended up at discount tire nearby. While waiting for my car, I decided to take a short walk over to try a coffee and panini. HOLY HELL I'm so glad I found this absolute gem of a place!!! The food and coffee are both perfection and the price was reasonable. Nice grilled sandwich which came with a tiny plastic container of bland pilaf. Even though we were sitting down outside the food was served on paper plates with a plastic knife and fork, so really it's a takeout place where you can sit and eat your food by the street. I told the waitress that there must've been a mistake and she said they would take what I had started eating and make the correct panini. I wish I could give a better score because I love to promote local businesses and hope they thrive because I know running a restaurant is a back breaking labor of love. Unfortunately I was hoping for more given the high rating on yelp. I was underwhelmed by the food and yes the side of fruit was a small ketchup sized container containing the quantity of one strawberry sliced up. My panini was a nicely toasted buttered sourdough, bland dry shredded chicken with a squish of mildly spiced nondescript red sauce, a quarter of a pickle placed in the middle, scant cheese and a processed overcooked disc of egg for each half sandwich. I expected so much more in flavor or even food presentation given how pricey the food was. Price? 2 overcooked egg discs and 2 slices of bacon for almost $9. It was unfortunately one of those places you bring people to because it's "#3 of the 100 best places it he US to eat on yelp" and leave apologizing to everyone for suggesting it. read more

After ordering two half sandwich deals - Tuscan chicken and vegan paninis - we had to wait at most ten minutes. Paninis are smallish, but quite tasty. Both paninis had nice sun-dried tomatoes. Leaving a review because I love this place. It reminds me of a quaint European café, unpretentious with great food. All the food is handmade with care by Kate and her team. Manning the front is her partner in crime and significant other. Get a soup or a salad they are excellent and spot-on the Panini's are great as well. Finish off with a great brownie or cookie bite and cup of coffee or frozen beverage. Having been here multiple times each time has been excellent would highly recommend this place, however do not go too often as we don't want it to become crowded. read more

There is almost nothing I love more than a cute cafe with good coffee, eats and a great vibe. On Black Friday, my husband and I ventured into Escondido (specifically planning to scour Nomad Ventures for killer deals on backpacking gear, see next review), but I was starving - borderline hangry - and so not ready to shop without eating first. I turned to Yelp to find something in the area and stumbled upon Sunny Side Kitchen. We parked in the lot behind/inside of the surrounding border of small businesses, and initially struggled to find Sunny Side as the signage is not easy to see from the sidewalk. Once we found it, we entered and were warmly greeted by the woman at the register. We took a moment to look over the menu, which is simple but sure to appeal to most if not all. I chose "The Works" breakfast panini on gluten-free bread, and my husband had the same, but just the way it came. With our Yelp check-in, we scored a free mini cookie for each of us. There were 5 options to choose from in the case, from which I picked the "Delicious," while he chose a peanut butter/toffee concoction - both were amazing. Apparently they rotate their selection beyond what we saw that day, so I'd love to come back and try them all! 3 mini cookies for $1 is an especially good deal. They don't do regular house coffee at Sunny Side Kitchen, but rather "pour overs," hand-crafted lattes and other espresso beverages. We both got a pour over, as we had some of the most amazing V60 pour overs on our recent trip to Australia and like to compare the differences. Sunny Side Kitchen's pour over was not my favorite, however it was still really nice and perked me up for our shopping expedition. Our paninis were excellent! For $5 you get a small panini with a side of fresh fruit, which looks small although we found them to be more satisfying than expected. The GF bread on mine was so deceivingly delicious, I was almost sure that they gave me "real" bread. It had a nice crust of cheese, maybe asiago, pressed onto the outside of the slice, and the bread itself was herb-y and savory. The avocado was fresh, the egg nicely cooked and the bacon crispy. Sunny Side Kitchen is a gem, and we will definitely return. read more

WE found this little restaurant simply by searching "coffee shops near me" What a pleasant surprise!!. Terrific food, honest pricing and great customer service. Today Saturday 5-1-21 me my wife and my daughter came to Sunnyside Kitchen in Esco and the food and service was amazing!! I ordered a sandwich that got an award on Yelp called "The Works." It was the best!! My daughter ordered the "Veggie sandwich" she liked it so much, she went back and bought another one!! My wife had the "Avocado toast" and some Quiche. She liked it alot.
