Yay! I'm a Sunny Side Kitchen fan. My BF & I stopped by SSK for some Saturday breakfast after taking his car to a nearby auto repair shop. We both ordered breakfast paninis. The bread was real yum... like an herby cheddar. I ordered the avo, egg, & cheese, and he ordered the "Works" which was avo, egg, cheese, & bacon :) As a vegetarian, I was happy to see some meat-free friendly choices. Oh yes! Every Saturday we take our two boxers for a walk along Grand Avenue in Escondido. It makes for a good start to our day. Late in 2016, we discovered Sunny Side; I'm very happy that we did! Now we visit Sunny Side every Saturday morning as a relaxing and fulfilling end to our walk. They have fabulous Panini breakfast sandwiches; we each have a 'regular' order now. We talk, our boxers get a chance to drink some water (provided by Sunny Side), and we people/car watch while we eat. Then you smell the grills. Kate greater us at the counter and she was more than sweet. Bob was manning the simple open viwed kitchen. The food was hand delivered to any of the small deli tables, the seats a the window bar, and to the outdoor patio. I had the meat loaf panini with the quinoa salad with a Arnold Palmer. It was so good I forgot to take a picture of it. My wife had the grilled cheese with clam chowder. She shared a little bu guarded it closely till she finished. I just went in the Sunny Side Kitchen for the first time with my man this morning. We were greeted very nicely and found a seat right away. The place is super cute! If you want to have an Instagram worthy meal, come here! We ordered 2 coffees, a whole Chicken Caesar Salad to share, a Pesto Chicken Panini for me and a Turkey Bacon Club for my man. The coffees came first, and they were good and strong. It's pour over coffee, which is the hip thing to do these days, but it was good coffee. We got our salad next, and the nice lady forgot to bring the dressing, which is no big deal and she brought some when I asked, but I think she brought us an Italian dressing or something, because it wasn't a creamy Caesar dressing. It was still good. The chicken and the croutons in the salad were good, and the portion was definitely large enough to share between the two of us. My man usually orders a club the first time he goes to a sandwich place. His opinion of the sandwich was that is was a pretty good Turkey Bacon Sandwich, but it wasn't a Club. Club sandwiches typically have a third slice of bread, is usually piled pretty high. This was just two pieces of bread, with not a lot of turkey in side. He did like how it was like a thick chunk of turkey, not that wispy thin turkey. He is also very thin, and wished for a seat cushion. All of the seats are hard wood, so thin bottomed people, BEWARE! ;) I ordered the Pesto Chicken Panini. It was awesome! It had a great combination of flavors, and the whole thing was just a pleasure to eat. I will come back for this panini. read more
