Sunny's was the first place I stopped at after flying in from California. I told my husband I was craving sushi and we knew we liked Sunny's because we tried the other location here in El Paso, this specific one just happened to be closer to our house. Surprisingly it was pretty busy for being a Tuesday night. A good sign that they're popular! My husband and I were seated right away and our waiter came to get our drink order pretty fast. We both really like their Crab meat puffs so we ordered one order each. Honestly I'd say that's my favorite item on their menu. I could do with just having those. They're so delicious with just the right amount of cream cheese and crab filling. For sushi I ordered the Golden California roll and my husband tried their Samurai roll. He said he liked his choice! I, on the other hand, will probably steer clear of the golden Cali roll from now on. They made the roll very wide and cut it at an angle so when I ate it I either got a bite of just the crab or the cucumber and avocado. It also fell apart very easily so it was pretty difficult to eat. I'll probably just stay with fresh rolls if they cut all their deep fried sushi the same way, it's just awkward to eat and you don't get the full scope of fillings because it's too big. Service at this location is great though! Our waiter was very friendly and attentive to us during our visit. I'll still be back to try other sushi options and their delicious crab meat puffs! But I'd highly suggest staying away from the golden Cali roll. read more

The food was good, came out fast, wasn't pushy and the waitress was very sweet but unfortunately it has to be said. We felt fine after eating and took a roll to-go (Spicy Salmon) I ate mine and that was a couple of days ago... Ive been sick for days. Nausea, stomach pains and other symptoms but mainly those of food poisoning. It could have been anything we ate, so Im listing what we had; Both Tuna and Salmon Nigiri, he took a jalapeno salmon roll home and I took the fried spicy salmon roll home too. I had some hot sake, the iced raspberry tea and the matcha cake. The matcha cake also tasted stale and the icing tasted like pure dye. It would be so much better with regular frosting and the strawberry layer. I am a regular sake drinker, never had any terrible effects. My fiancé is just fine but we ordered different things. Definitely gonna have to take a trip to the doctor. Please check their health code ratings and ask for it to be fresh! read more

I think we've found our new sushi spot after moving here. We didn't realize they had different locations and just went to the closest one. My gosh! Everyone here are just the nicest, ever. Our server, Rose, was gosh awfully so sweet from beginning to the end. My husband and I got a lot- Sunny's Special Roll, Rising Sun Roll, Spicy Udon Noodle, and Tempera Udon (made spicy). Rose eve offered if we wanted sauce on the side (so new) and I liked that option (it's Sriracha, eel sauce, and something close to a spicy mayo). That spicy beef udon soup tastes like home, something you need to settle your stomach or if you have a cold or need some good broth. The rolls were good and we found the fish as fresh as it can be. I am a huge fan of the New York steak lunch box that is always cooked to temperature & has the most amazing sauce. The lunch box special features your protein, a side of rice, two little pieces of sushi, a crab cream puff, gyoza (a little dumpling from heaven), some tempura fried veggies & a sweet/savory vegetable mix. I've been a Sunny Sushi customer for years, I usually visit the viscount location but this time I came to the one in Horizon. I'm very disappointed with the quality of the rolls. The California rolls were practically just cucumber, I couldn't even taste the crab. The Alaska roll was the same. The tuna roll was falling apart. The waitress Maria, was rude. This is our 2nd time here and I thought I had already reviewed this place. I wish we could give gold stars for places that go above and beyond because this Sunny's location would get them all! We were immediately greeted when we walked in and seated. They have actual menus not just scan it and see it on your phone. That already had me happy. The kiddo was starving and she right away asked for a miso soup. We ordered tempura veggies and she got 2 rolls and I got the stir fry noodles with seafood (I told u she's hungry). Right away our miso soup came out and quickly followed by our veggies. Kiddo gobbled up that soup and the most awesome waiter asked if she wanted more and she said yes. (Wow!!) The veggies were fresh hot and crisp. My plate came and honestly it was huge and steaming I knew I was taking leftovers home. The kiddos rolls were perfect and she said better than ever. I ate about half and let me tell u my meal didn't disappoint. Our awesome waiter was very attentive and so on top of things. I was done and the kiddo said she was full but he came around and offered dessert then said words that my kiddo often craves "fried ice cream" she couldn't pass that up. She got green tea ice cream and when I tell u that the portions here are huge I'm not lying. This was enough for 4 people. The sushi here is good, unfortunately, service is not so good. And they nickel and dime you for every single extra thing you ask for. I've gone to multiple Sunnys Sushi's and never been charged for fresh wasabi, extra vinegar. It's outrageous! We spent $150 there and they want to charge you for anything extra you ask for.
