Sunnyside is within walking distance from my work, so I spent many lunch breaks walking on the ground, contemplating about the past and my future. This cemetery is truly historic, with most of the graves dating back to the 20's and 30's. I try to imagine the lives of the residents and the historical context. It's unfortunate that the environment is not being maintained due to the lack of funding. The grass is already dead, and the trees are dying one by one too. I guess they'll join the ranks of the ones who are already underground. Maybe I'll join them one day. I have already spent the majority of my life living in Long Beach, and I might as well be interred here.

The guys who worked here said they have no water to keep the place up. A shame and something needs to change to help this place.

This place has turned into a joke! My sister has been resting here since 1991 and the place looks dead! I talked to one of the guys they and he said they have no water to keep the place up other then doing basic gardening around the area. Such a shame and disrespectful to the people. I usually bring a little broom and a towel to keep my family grave clean at least!

Such a beautiful cemetery. Unfortunately it's not taken care of. The people of Long Beach should really step up. It's a disrespect towards the people who lay at rest there. Anyway super beautiful, there's hawks and small Animals around. Such beautiful place for it to be treated so poorly. 0 stars for the city of lb

I love this cemetery. It's nice to roam around for hours while glancing at the century-old graves surrounding you. Plus, their movie nights are awesome. They've played classic horror films like Halloween, The Shining, The Birds & Psycho. I come here whenever I can because it's very peaceful.

I'm so disgusted with the lack of upkeep here. The fact that they don't water the lawn, DESPITE any perceived "rules" is just as good as vandalism; dusty, dirty, trees dying, being uprooted and falling; what is Green Hills, Rose Hills, Pacific View, All Souls, Westminster Memorial, and every OTHER cemetery I've been to in Southern California doing that this place isn't? I'm so ashamed.

Beautiful family statue with family buried surrounding it.

Bring a chair and watch out for those damned sprinklers. Say hi to the groundskeeper Mike, he's the man.

My father had no plans in place prior to his unexpected passing, other than he wanted to be buried with his fellow serviceman, and everyone at Destiny made the process painless and easy. Something much needed three days after his passing. Every single person we talked to was so kind and helpful. And the prices were much more affordable than we expected. My mother was so happy with them she plans to go back for her own arrangements. Making arrangements for my dad was something I absolutely dreaded and they helped us every step of the way. I cannot recommend them highly enough! Thank you so much Destiny!

My uncle, Eddie Comick, was like a father to me, and losing him this past November to Colon Cancer was incredibly difficult. After searching for the right place, we found Destiny, and I am so grateful we did. From our initial meeting until long after my uncle was laid to rest, Steven was there every step of the way. He truly treated us like family. One moment that meant so much was when Steven sat with my sister and me to view a tribute video of our favorite memories; his presence and comfort during that time were a gift. Steven's attention to detail was incredible. He guided me through every logistics hurdle and even helped arrange the catering for the repass. I honestly don't know how I would have managed without his help. If you are looking for a place that is family-oriented and prioritizes service and fair pricing over profit, I highly recommend Destiny Funeral Home. I know my uncle would have been so proud of his home-going service. Thank you, Steven, for everything. -- Jakela Baylor

From the beginning, Captain Tony Miller was communicative, patient, and compassionate. He took the time to explain the process, answer all of my questions, and make sure our family felt comfortable entrusting them with something so meaningful. Due to family circumstances, we weren't able to attend the service in person, but we felt confident that our mother was treated with dignity, care, and respect. That peace of mind mattered more than anything. The entire experience, from initial contact to in-person coordination, felt professional and thoughtful. You can tell this is not just a service they provide, but something they approach with genuine care. I highly recommend Captain Tony Miller and his team if you are looking for a respectful and reliable sea memorial service. I'm very grateful to them for helping fulfill my mother's wishes

It was perfect that they prepared a larger boat to accommodate all of us since we were expecting some of us stay behind. Refreshments were provided and they also offered us views from the top deck. My kids got more of a kick climbing up and down the ladder, but the crew made us feel welcomed. I highly recommend them for their services. Thank you, guys!

We said goodbye to my dad on the water with Captain Tony (Burials at Sea), and somehow, in one of the hardest moments of our lives, he made everything feel.. gentle. Not rushed. Not transactional. Just human. We left on a warm morning and it felt surreal, just... walking down the dock with the last physical remnants of our father in hand. There's something about grief that makes time feel strange, and Cpt Tony seemed to understand that without us ever having to explain it. It started with the first call and text exchange. He gave us space when we needed silence, and quiet guidance when we didn't know what to do next. He never once made us feel like we had to hurry up or move on. He let us sit there... as long as we needed... with my dad, with our memories, with everything we were feeling. At one point, I was just sitting in complete silence, watching the water, and it felt like the world had paused for us. An eerie but soothing moment of peace. That's something I'll never forget, and something I didn't think a service like this could give. I'm eternally grateful for having been recommended to Burials at Sea by another friend of ours who've used their service. They are worth every single penny.. they're beyond reasonable, and there is honestly zero compromise to the service you receive. Cpt Tony isn't just providing a service. He's holding space for people in one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives, and he does it with so much compassion and grace it honestly caught me off guard. I'm not much for showing raw emotion, esp in public.. but this experience reminded me that everyone is human, and that's ok. If you're reading reviews because you're going through something similar, I'm so sorry. Truly. But I can tell you this... your loved one will be in good hands with Tony. And so will you. Thank you, Captain Tony and crew, for helping us give my dad the kind of goodbye he deserved... Thank you. Give your memories and loved ones the sanctity and respect they deserve. Call them.
