I cannot recommend this place enough! We had Joanna help us and she was very professional and compassionate with getting the funeral services for my moms husbands service. She constantly checked on my mom, and others at the funeral home were also very attentive the day of the funeral. Everything was done in a timely matter. Prices were very reasonable. We came here yesterday Aug 21, for the service of my uncle. The woman working there was not very considerate of my family mourning. She was being loud and rushing us to leave the parking lot. The younger girl in control of the video and music was on her phone and not very professional, regarding that it is a funeral service and one should look professional doing that. She was giving attitude to me and my family. That is not great service, we are mourning our loss and we didn't need to be treated like that. She also was in her pajamas by the end of the service and was walking around like that. The video that we were playing for my uncle was being blocked by ads popping up on her YouTube. Three words to describe Affordable Burial and Cremation: ineffective, inefficient, and unresponsive. Our deceased had left a rather messy estate to deal with, including a health care directive that met legal requirements, but had missing pages (not relevant to the essence of it). The director of the mortuary (Angela P) initially refused to accept it and proceed with cremation because of the missing pages, though the needed authority was authorized. It took a consultation with our probate attorney and then multiple phone calls with director to convince her to do some extra research to see if this was adequate. It was, ultimately, but hardly helpful and effective. This same director was frequently unavailable and did not return phone calls, neither in a timely way or even at all. Getting the cremation done took extra effort on my part once more, as inadequate documents from the deceased again caused problems. I had to intervene directly with the crematorium, when Affordable staff could/would not do so. Their work ethic seems to be: do the minimal work required, and no more unless pressed to do so. One staff person (Joanna W) who covered for Angela when she was out ill, was the only one who actually returned calls promptly, communicated with me on her own initiative and demonstrated genuine motivation to be of real help. The legal and detailed nature of information needed was quite demanding, about which no guidance was offered until failure occurred; no efforts to provide guidance in a preventive way. They are not open 24 hours, but only 9-5, Monday through Friday; this is a misleading statement. Start to finish, it took 7+ weeks to get the cremation done, and a huge amount of effort on my part. I am not a person who easily writes reviews like this. I don't like bashing businesses but I felt so disrespected and hurt by the representative that I just talked to from Affordable Burial and Cremation Service. My grandmother is currently in the hospital with COVID-19 and she is not likely to make it. My family does not have a lot of money so I have been trying to research some affordable options for her funeral service. I came across Affordable Burial & Cremation Services, Inc.'s website and saw that they had a graveside service package for $1095. I called in to get more information on that package and when I spoke to the rep (who I believe is the owner as she talked about her staff as if they were hers) she told me "that package does not include anything" and then she went to list out the things it does not include. I politely said "but I am reading here on your website that this package does include those things, would you mind reviewing that package with me online so you can see what I am seeing?" She did go online and promised that she would honor whatever was stated on their website. After calmly confirming everything that was in the package, we determined that for my family's needs that package was all I needed and the only missing items were the casket, death certificate, and permit. She then quoted me a new price including those items and she told me the price she quoted was for a metal casket. I asked if there was a place on their website where I could view the metal casket so I could see what I would be purchasing. She said "no" that they "only had a showroom but that if I had seen my grandmother that I would not be allowed to come." First of all, I have not seen my grandmother as she has been in a nursing home that has been on lockdown for over a month but I did not tell her that. Instead, I very calmly told her that I was NOT wanting to come into their showroom so that her staff and myself could remain protected. Instead, I was wondering if she had a photo that she could send to me via email. She seemed annoyed but willing to do that. Then I asked if I could also see some other options for caskets as well. I don't know what a "metal casket" means or looks like so I wasn't sure if she had quoted me the most basic casket. I was willing to maybe upgrade to something nicer, if needed, but I really can't know that until I am able to see what the metal casket looks like. Well, apparently that was enough to set her off. She started going into "no disrespect, but I don't appreciate you haggling with me when I am putting my staff at risk to pick up your grandmother that has COVID..." That truly broke my heart. Never once in my call did I give her attitude, never once did I raise my voice. I was comfortable with the price we agreed to for the Graveside burial package online and appreciated that she was willing to honor that price that was listed on their website. All I wanted to know was how much the casket would cost in addition and if I could get a picture of it emailed to me. If I decided that the metal casket was too simple, I was even willing to consider some higher-priced caskets --- how is that haggling?? IT IS NOT HAGGLING IF YOU ARE PROMOTING SOMETHING ON YOUR WEBSITE. ALL I DID WAS ASK THIS BUSINESS TO HONOR WHAT THEY ARE PROMOTING ON THEIR WEBSITE. Affordable Burial and Cremation Services, you were rude and treated me so unkindly in a very difficult time. Shame on you--- I wasn't trying to take advantage of you but you tried to do that to me. I've been thinking about this review for a while. My cousin passed away in May, we knew it was coming but not that fast. I found out my cousin passed away and within a week she was going to have her funeral. My son flew in that day, I picked him up from the airport and went over to the church. We walk up to where the service is going to be held and the lady running the service grab my sons arm and said " You look strong, can you help". We had been there for a 3 minutes. We were talking with family that we haven't seen for almost 2 years. She takes my son and other family member down to the Hearst and pulls out the casket. I watched my son almost loose it. He and I didn't know what was going on. She had my son and other family member bring the casket up the ramp and telling people to move out of the way as my cousin is being wheeled pass us. Like she was a piece of furniture. I was appalled at the behavior. We finally are able to go inside and the service started. I was in disbelief in the service. I never heard her say my cousin name and it was the most unprofessional/impersonal service I've ever been to. Towards the end she opens the casket and my family in the front row just gasp in shock. The lady just about forced family up to the coffin to see my cousin. I couldn't get over the whole thing. At the end of the service she started again giving orders to the pall bearers and for 2 to taken the coffin and the others to bring down the flowers. As the pall bearers where putting the casket she's telling them to either put one or both gloves on the casket. As they did this she told them, your dismissed. She then told us to help ourselves to the flowers. I would never ever have anyone use them. They are affordable because everyone else is doing all the work. I only saw 1 lady and 1 man. Now on to Yvette who led an amazing sermon and spoke some beautiful words.They have a removal of the Queens crown ceremony a candle remembrance vigil along with an Angel wings donation to her kids which were a beautiful added touch. My family loved this place due to the fact it is not a church nor do they hold you to certain religious beliefs they keep an open mind and allow you to bring items to decorate the viewing site and play music that remind you and allow you to celebrate your loved ones life which was a huge PLUS! Where do I start? My son died from an aneurysm 6/8/18 and I had to find a funeral home ASAP! We were not prepared. A dear friend of mines passed away earlier this yr and her daughter used this company. They were 5 mins from my son's house so I call them. I was very distraught and somewhat incoherent. From begin to end they took care of me! They kept me leveled headed and did not take advantage of my grief. I was messed up! Planning a funeral for my first born whom I saw the day before was not what I wanted to do, to say the least! Death doesn't always give us warnings. Now... I didn't like the makeup. My son never wore matte makeup and he look like a mummy when I saw him. They call the makeup guy to fix everything to my liking immediately! I still felt the makeup was too heavy. My son died quickly and did not have discolorations or bruising when we saw him the first time but he was there for about 2 weeks before the service, The makeup artist even out my son skin tone but he wasn't a model, so it just didn't look right. Even his kids were asking "Why does daddy have on makeup?" The flowers were a bit dry on the casket but we wanted blue and white and I know flowers have to be spray painted. Other than those 2 minor things the service was beautiful. Wish I had chosen the pastor, his message was meaningful just a bit outside of my belief but at the end of the day, we were pleased. They are very personal and family oriented. My son's brother in law passed unexpectedly in his sleep less that 2 months later. He was 27, my son, 38. They handled his service as well. Very sad for our families but handled with care and comfort by Affordable Funerals. I would recommend Affordable Funerals to everyone. The candle service, BEAUTIFUL! The removing of the earthly crown, BEAUTIFUL! The pictorial remembrance, BEAUTIFUL! When you are lost, they will find you the help, the words. Everything is taking care of here!!! I contacted this Affordable and Cremation at the Beginning of March 2022. I used them in 2018 when I lost my Mother. I was expecting the same quality service that I had received. Well, that has not happened. I was transferred to Chanel Dale, the Director, which I did not know at the time of my call. I thought I was speaking to someone knowledgeable about making funeral arrangements for newly bereaved family members. I gave her all of my information and requests for two (2) death certificates and to have my loved ones ashes scattered at sea. Sound easy right? Don't get it twisted. This woman made a joke of all of my requests. Nothing was documented in the file for two (2) death certificates nor were there any arrangements for the ashes to be scattered at sea. Well it is now June 23 and after numerous call to the Mortuary, I was told that there was finally going to be a trip to scatter ashes at sea, but my loved one's ashes would not be included, because the permit to scatter ashes as sea had NOT been ordered. Well, here we are July 18, having paid the additional fees on April 11 and June 23. There has been no further contact about when my loved one's ashes will go out to sea. I guess it is up to me to make yet another telephone call to Affordable Burial and Cremation about the ashes being scattered. This call will be in excess of 10 calls that I have had to make just to follow up on my original request for two (2) death certificates and to have my loved one scattered at sea. Perhaps this nightmare will end before 2022 does, it is anyone's guess. My advice to anyone who reads this, "BUYER BEWARE" and along with being aware, USE A DIFFERENT MORTUARY SERVICE. read more

Not to mention they had a makeshift place behind the parking lot behind curtains that they had built where they were storing peoples family members bodies on top of each other in bags, with fans blowing on them to keep the bodies cool. This place is a nitemare! Unfortunately for my brother & I our mother passed, and we have never had to manage a funeral. So we are lost and have no one to ask as everyone else has passed already. We don't know how things work, what we are to do. Nothing! So the day before the service forest lawn calls and asks is we have heard anything about mom's remains! Panic time! I call I'm told " I'm busy with another family, I'll call you back in 30 minutes" reasonable so I wait, and wait, and wait some more. Call get voicemail, visit their location and she tells me " I said I would call" uh check your watch it's been like 1.30 hours!!!! Whatever because now I'm pissed. She then says wait here, and comes back and shoved a box at me n says "here" ! REALLY this is caring service? This was honestly the most beautiful funeral service I'd ever been to and the process of planning was also smooth. My family and I felt very secure and listened to by Dolores and her sister. They were amazing at providing information and resources about the process of the funeral during a time when my family and I were having a rough time. One of our family friend's was grieving in a very loud and aggressive way and they were very patient with her needs and ours offering support in a loving way, but they also did not enable her inappropriate behavior. I also loved these services because we received so much for not too much money. Their pastor was amazing, the rituals were beautiful (blowing out a candle in our loved ones honor, dancers dressed as angels, etc.) I was having a rough time before the services, but after I felt weight lifted off of my shoulders because I knew my cousin was in good hands during this service and she was sent to a better place. read more

My wife of 34 years passed away on the 19th of May ,from the progression with her battle with cancer. Affordable is under new ownership, and the building is in the process of getting an updated look. When we entered the building we were greeted by Dolores one of the owners, who was very friendly, when Sylvia, our Counsler escorted us to the room where we made all the arrangements and it was discussed that the color my wife always wore was pink . We Chose to have the Services at our Church , when the hearse arrived and the driver and the passenger exited , our family were so pleased with what we saw, the driver was wearing a white shirt and a pink tie , and The passenger who was Dolores the owner was also dressed in a pink suit We have used Affordables Services , and have recommend them to friends and family in he past , but now with the change in ownership, we diffently notice an inprovement in the quility of Service I highly recommend Affordables Burial and Creamation Services, and make sure you speak to Dolores , and you will diffently have peace of mind during this sad time. read more
