I would imagine that 90% of their calls are from people grieving the loss of a loved one. Is it too much to ask for you to soften your tone? Show some understanding & compassion. It's just as easy to say "I'm sorry for your loss but unfortunately we are required to do . . " as it is to say "Look there's nothing I can do for you." Sounding mean & rude. I just had to post a review of this outstanding funeral home. My mom passed away earlier this month and the hospital recommended Destiny to me. I live in New York and you would think that I lived in LA, the way I was treated. Everything was made clear.I had the pleasure of dealing with Cynde,although it was not a pleasant situation. She is such a great asset to the company. She was understanding, patient and caring. Her disposition was very efficient and appreciated. Everything was taken care of in decency and order. I recently was very pleased and surprised at Destiny Mortuary for a recent celebration of life. At first glance inside it was welcoming and classy. You wouldn't think a mortuary could feel comfortable yet Destiny was to our guests. The staff was polite and caring getting last minute requests with professionalism and needed kindness. We enjoyed the large reception space as it was a long day so chapel with food at reception space came in handy. Hopefully this review can help other families plan their tough time. I unfortunately had to use the services here when my husband of 40 years passed away. I had purchased a pre- needs package with another company but due to covid they where unable to accommodate our needs. I was so devastated and didn't know where to turn then through a series of events I found Destiny they took my husband into there care and treated him with the upmost respect. 10/30 update on Joseph and Georgia (the owner). Georgia was completely blown away with Joseph's behavior and treatment towards me. Georgia said it was absolutely unacceptable and she was very apologetic and understood why I was very upset since it was uncalled for. This situation could have been completely avoided if he would have said they couldn't disclose any information but instead Joseph chose to argue with me and say i wasn't family even though he posted the information that i needed for my dads funeral on his personal PUBLIC Facebook page for anyone to see. Joseph provided a service on my father and we have every right to review that service even though we weren't clients. He called and harassed me about my review and said I did a very stupid thing and sent me pictures of my dad in a casket to attack me and wouldn't stop harass me after i told him to stop, so i reported him to the police. I wasn't going to update this review since Georgia said she was going to handle it and have Joseph reach out to me and apologize but he clearly doesn't feel bad for his behavior and attacking me TWO DAYS after my fathers funeral. If there's a Zero star, I'd pick it for Destiny Funeral Home. My wife died on 2/22/21 and I called Destiny Funeral Home (Destiny) agent Joseph Ngo to arrange for her services. Destiny sent 2 people to pick up my wife's body later that day. When they picked my wife up, I specifically asked them to return her clothes that she's wearing, and they gave me a form to sign along with their signatures in front of my family members (1). I also asked if we can come to the funeral home to see her the next day and they told me to call first. I called Destiny in the morning of 2/23/21 and a lady picked up the phone. I told her our desire to come down to see my wife and she asked me who my agent is, and I told her. Next thing I know, Joseph Ngo called me and sounded real upset (I really had no idea what's going on with them here) so I told him I was told to call first. He then told me the earliest he can arrange for such visit is Friday, 2/26/21, since they'd need me to sign the paperwork so they can go ahead with the embalming prior to us seeing her. I went to Joseph's office on the same day, 2/23/21, to sign the forms so Destiny can go ahead with the embalming. Joseph called me on 2/25/21 to inform me that we can't see my wife due to her not being embalmed yet. He said Destiny will do the embalming that weekend and we can see my wife sometime early the following week. I then told him I'd need to give him a new set of my wife's clothes for the viewing prior to her funeral services. On Monday, 3/1/21, I drove to Joseph's office in Westminster, but he already left to go to Destiny and so I drove to meet him there to hand him my wife's new clothes. This was when I met Georgia, Destiny's owner, for the very first time. When I handed the clothes to Joseph, I told/reminded him that we'd need my wife's old clothes back as specified in the form we signed on 2/22/21. I then went on and asked Joseph since I was at Destiny already, can I see my wife even for a split second? Again, for whatever reasons, they hadn't done the embalming so they wouldn't allow me to see her. Much to Joseph's credit, he did arrange for us to see her a few days later, despite the unorganized & unprofessional practice of Destiny (more about this later). My wife's funeral services took place on Saturday, 3/6/21. On Thursday, 3/4/21, I called Destiny and talked to Cindy to ask about my wife's cremation. She said they can't proceed with the cremation unless/until they have the permit(s). I told her Destiny has had my wife since 2/22 so I'd hope they already got the permit. She went on to say she'd pull my wife's file and find out. She also asked if, worse comes to worse, they can't cremate my wife right after her services on Saturday then would first thing in the morning of Monday, 3/8/21 be acceptable? I told her we'd have no choices but to wait to hear from them. She then said somebody will get back to us at the end of Friday, 3/5/21, to let us know. Well, we never did hear back from them at all through that weekend. On Monday, 3/8/21, not knowing what's going on, I drove to Joseph's office early in the morning to find out whether my wife would be cremated on that day. We had to wait until Destiny opened to call them about the permit and was told the permit is in. We then drove to Destiny only to find out they already started cremating somebody else and we'd have to wait at least 4 more hours. And then when it's my wife's turn, they told us they will not cremate the casket with her inside it. Left with no other choices, I had to let them removed her and cremated her inside a wooden box. This is unacceptable. This is the most unorganized & unprofessional funeral home I had ever encountered. Last year when I had my mother's funeral service with them, by the time we got to see her prior to her cremation, her whole body was bloated due to their mismanagement of her body. Now, onto my wife's clothes as mentioned at the beginning (1). They are now saying those clothes are biohazard and they'd not return those, and Georgia told me I was misinformed albeit the fact I still have the form with her people's signatures as well a mine. read more

I don't even know where to begin! Georgia, Jonathan and Destiny took a hard situation and made it extremely manageable. We lost my father in law a few months ago and like everyone else, our first stop was forest lawn. We left there feeling like we were nothing but a number. I left so sad. Let me start off by telling you that passing blame on someone else is not a real apology. Having people reach out to me on your behalf, Georgia, to take down my review because it's "ruining your business" is not my fault. All I did was write about my experience and all you had to do is learn from this and become a better person, for yourself and your business. The fact that you STILL can't admit to what you did after 8 months is absolutely mind blowing. That whole nightmare was your fault and no one else's. It shows exactly what type of person that you are. Since you would like to make a few points of that day, I would love to respond to those points. To start off, we DID NOT have a funeral home chosen yet for my mother in law when she passed (something I specifically told you and were aware of at the time, apparently you don't remember) . You DID NOT ask to speak to my husband at all. Had you would've asked to speak to the next of kin, you would've been able to speak to him in a heart beat. All you cared about was whether or not I was going to do business there. What you DID do is choose to not speak to me when I was in need. What you DID do was choose to NOT help me because I told you I was going to ask for financial assistance first. (something you specifically stated in your response. "I can assure you we would've made every attempt to help you through this difficult time HAD WE BEEN YOUR FAMILIES SELECTED FUNERAL HOME.") If your heart was actually in this, you would've shown a little compassion, maybe even a little time to figure things out. But the money wasn't there right away so I guess we couldn't see that side of you. I even offered to pay for the refrigeration until we figured it out and you still declined. So your response of how you would "NEVER TURN DOWN A LOVED ONE" Is undoubtedly false because it's what you actually did to my family. My mother in law was left outside for HOURS because you refused to take her. Like I said in my previous review, if you would've shown a little heart, we would have left her there. I would never mislead anyone into doing business with you. I would also like to add that what you wrote in the message you originally sent this morning, (I'm assuming by mistake) was slightly different in what you posted for the world to see. "Destinys funeral home was not your point of contact." I understand that you were not originally my point of contact but when I reached out to you, you offered nothing but an unsympathetic and callous attitude. Not professional funeral counselor. He was not responsive to test, email. He left his customer hanging for days waiting for the answer if they texted him their questions or concerns. He planned a respectable funeral for my family in an outdoor backyard of some buildings where it looked trashy without my family's approval or knowledge of the arrangement. I really don't know what to say about the experience I had with Destiny's Funeral Home. It was amazing. The staff was so professional. Jonathan was my contact person and he did absolutely everything I asked for and more. I lost my daughter on November 12, 2019, and I didn't know what steps to take in planning a funeral. My aunt suggested using Destiny's Funeral Home. I was in such a fog at that time, so I had my niece to take me to the mortuary for a viewing of a family friend. I was shocked the moment I walked through the doors. I was greeted with a warm "Hello, how may I help you". I noticed this beautiful tapestry (a blanket with pictures of your loved one) displayed in the foyer. I immediately I wanted to get one of my daughter. Secondly I was pleased at the cleanliness of the facility. I made an appointment for the following day. Jonathan made the process of burying my only child durable. I'm not saying it was easy but I wasn't so stressed out trying to figure out which way to turn. He had all the prices in order, and he did everything thing I asked for. I used their services this year they told me it will take 1 month to take mom back home it took them 4 months. My family decided to provided mom services w Destiny to bless her body as it was taking way too long. I made an appointment at 4pm I was not seen until 6:30 pm why make an appointment. The wait to obtain the services and to take mom back home was way too long. It took 1 month to obtain the documents indicating cause of death from the doctor. Dontai was handling this process took way too long. When I got involved I got the signature in 1 week. Dontai had the incorrect fax number of the doctor he did not put any effort in completing this process. He did not walked me through the process I was the one making the calls to get the documents signed and made sure we were all in the same page. I was doing Dontai job. It was so stressful and frustrating will never use this services again. I was planing to use it 2 more times. Their office staff is so unorganized. Flor helped me she was a new employee she was not trained properly. However Flor worked hard and helped my family. I will never use this services again!!! read more

I find it hard to believe all the ratings I see are 5 stars. I guess I have much higher expectations and shame on me for committing to Destiny before seeing the place! We had no extra time, our mom dying in the hospital, and we wanted ever minute with her. Although Georgia and staff were nice and we were very happy with how our mom looked for the service, there were constant communication problems, numerous problems with the funeral home itself, the video and memory pamphlets. Let me explain. The funeral home itself needs a lot of TLC. We requested the carpet be cleaned before our service or runners be placed, because it was that bad! Some of the pews are not bolted down and I don't think any upgrades were made after this was purchased from the former owner. The drapery is dingy and dark, so we took it upon ourselves to add our own light drapery. Our sis-in-law is fabulous with her flower arrangements, so it helped with the focus on mom and the flowers. Fragrance plug-ins had to be used, because the smell of 'old' building had to be camouflaged. Fall décor was still present in the front rooms (it was now May) and Georgia was adamant about not making any changes to this. The day of our service, we arrived a few hours early to make sure all the loose ends were tied. There was a service a few days before ours, so our needs were pushed aside to focus on the other service. This is the result of a lack of staff for their business. Some of the staff were just laminating the prayer cards when we arrived and after reviewing the 'final' video & songs I selected, they did not edit what I had asked. The final video was played with some photos sideways and duplicate photos I asked to be deleted were still on the final video. My song selections were also not in the order I requested and there were several attempts to get the video running before it finally worked. We were assured this would not happen to us, as this happened to the previous clients as well (we happen to know them). All blame was put on the client! When the service finally started, the video was not working, so there was no music when the guests arrived, nor was there anyone there to welcome them in. I had to ask about the guest book, because that was also not in place. Needless to say, we did not get what we even ordered. In addition, the memory pamphlets were of poor quality--the ink ran low and some photos were not sharp. How do you correct this? The service is over! You cannot redo this! Remember, they had a service on Saturday and they are closed on Sunday. I could go on, but I think you get the jest of our experience. Trust me, there is more! If you meet with Georgia and are surprised at what's she's wearing, just wait until the day of the service.... very unprofessional!! More like you're going to a bar or night club. If you think she will do anything to make things right, think again. After the service, Georgia asked me how she could make it right for us and we told her, we'd get back to her. When I had some time to get my thoughts together and write a letter to her, she was not willing to do anything! My advice, go with a well-established funeral home and possibly a funeral home you attended a service. Remember, you cannot redo your service! read more

This is thee best mortuary i've dealt with. Georga the owner was honest and helpful from day 1. She got me thru the funeral i didn't know how to plan, planned! All i had to do was fill out a short form and chose several things. I love her soooo much for all she did for me. She always addressed my husband as Frank. I appreciated that alot. The service was beautiful thanks to her. Also Destiny, her Granddaughter was a big help as well. She was on my speed dial. She always called me to make sure everything was going as planned and if she had questions regarding anything about the service. They always checked on me if i was ok. Shana was super awesome too. She made sure everything went smooth and that we were taken care of. At the end of the service up til now. They r still sooooo nice. They r my new friends. Georga always greets me with a beautiful smile and a big hug. Matter fact they all do. When i leave same thing... They r super awesome and i love them. This is by far the best place to come for all of your funeral needs. Georgia was ALWAYS so helpful, nice, and understanding. I am only 22 and had no idea how to plan a funeral. Georgia made the whole process so easy and painless. She also took care of all of the details in getting my Uncle to Kansas after our services out here, as that is where he wished to be buried. He looked amazing for the viewing as well, her and her team did such an amazing job with everything overall. I was so impressed. She was always honest and upfront and very good about pricing.
