We used Long Beach Colonial for the memorial services of my brother in law. Our funeral director was Eric and he was assisted by Norma. The service I received throughout the entire process was nothing short of EXCELLENCE AND COMPASSION. My sister who is having a very difficult time grieving was probably their most challenging client but even in the worst scenarious, Eric and Norma maintained their professionalism and patience. We went for the cheapest package but we received FIRST CLASS SERIVCE. This mortuary should have a 5 star rating. The casket was beautiful, the mortician did a very very good job, their assistance in the mass was absolute, the police escort, the military honors at Riverside Cemetery ...my brother in law was beaming with pride/ honor. WE were referred to Long Beach Colonial from a dear friend Mildred Johnson. They had represented her uncle for a service here. My sister and I scheduled an appointment and were met by Eric, very kind humble, funny ,easy-going gentleman. We were immediately drawn to his charismatic nature and making us feel at home. We had many questions and he answered all of them and what he couldn't answer he said I will get back to you and then he followed up with that. His attention to all our questions was excellent. Everything from having someone sing at the service to the finances. We didn't leave with anything unanswered. We decided to remain with Long Beach Colonial because of the personal relationship we reached with him. We had many changes for services to try to coincide with the Riverside Cemetery and not once did he hinder any unhapiness that we were bothering him.. we also dealt with Yolanda and she was excellent in getting any of her questions answered and Mr.Morrow called me at one time. And he was very kind as well. The staff here worked with us with everything that we needed. If needed we would definitely use Long Beach Colonial again thank you Eric for your magnificent attention to the service for our dad. Beautiful place! I always pass by here in Long Beach after living in the city for 28 years. My friends and families usually use Forest Memorial Lawn. It has a cute charm to it and a nice intimate space for smaller gatherings. However, the only downside is guest experience and service. When I recently attended my friend's mother's viewing, guests were not offered water. Only a few did. I spoke and requested politely to one of the staffs. She informed me twice that they do not serve water, until I told her that a few other guests were provided complimentary bottled water. She finally went to get a mini bottled water for me. My friend and her sister poured a lot of money into Long Beach Colonial Mortuary and a tremendous effort to make their mother's viewing a very special day. They deserve nothing, but excellent and highest quality service, including all of the guests. When I first stepped in, I even thought how nice it would be to use their services in the future, until I encountered this situation. All clients deserve to get their money's worth. read more

If I could leave ZERO stars I would! The first time I called they came off as helpful and understanding. Once we were ready to proceed they made it impossible for my grieving sister to cremate her baby! They DEMANDED that we involve other agencies that we contacted and told us they don't get involved. When I advised this man that we wouldn't be moving forward with the service because we couldn't force the other parties to come out he began yelling at me! This man was telling me I was wrong and that the police department was lazy and not wanting to do their job. The switch up was very quick when I told him we couldn't move forward with the service he became hostile and rude! I made sure he knew I would be writing this review and he was more upset and demanded that I listened because he knows what he's talking about. I wouldn't recommend anyone to deal with this level of disrespect and unprofessionalism specially when grieving. Save your time and look elsewhere! read more

I have to give it 1 star based on how they proceeded to embalm my uncle when my cousin had said YES there will be a service but not as to what kind of service. They did not know if she was cremating him or not due to financial situation. No they did not charge for embalming him but did charge a fee for picking up his body from hospital -$450. I know when I called Inglewood Mortuary they did not charge me to pick my dad up when he passed and they came quick. read more

Thank you to Eric and staff at Long Beach Colonial Mortuary! They're very professional & I thank them for helping put my mother to rest peacefully in January of this year. They made a very sad time less stressful because everything went smoothly. The flower arrangement they made for my mother's casket was beautiful, they even included Iris flowers since my mother's name is Iris, I really appreciated that special touch. We had a very complicated circumstance where my brother's remains needed to be repatriated from another country. Long Beach Colonial Mortuary (LB Colonial) was who we selected to go to the airport to accept and transport the remains. They were great with coordinating with the non-US mortuary in getting the shipping details sorted. Customs and Border Patrol held my brother's body in quarantine as paperwork got sorted out and the representative from LB Colonial waited very patiently to receive the remains and communicated with us to ensure we knew the moment they took custody of his body AND let us know when his body reached their facility in Long Beach. We really appreciated the communication. Eric, our funeral director, was caring, personable and very clear throughout the process of walking us through the decisions, costs and contract. The family viewing was handled very well and everything went exactly as planned for the services themselves. My family is so appreciative of the caring and effort put in by the LB Colonial team. The owner is the VERY RUDE for no reason!!!! Her whole staff is scared of her that they end up being rude too just to make her happy. I never heard of a company with bad customer service sooooo bad you can't do anything about it. I'm a delivery driver for a local florist and everytime i go there i get treated really horrible I dont know why. I hope its not cause of my race that would be said to know. this last visit was the worst this is how it went...(07-31-11) Me: role up to delivery area ring door bell and try to be nice even tho i know they were going to be rude. Owner: YES?! me: i got a delivery for tomorrow viewing from the family. We cant deliver tomorrow and my boss spoke to **** and said it was ok since they have enough water to last until tomorrow. Owner: UGH! (walks away) another employee: do you need help? me: um i want to drop of a delivery but she just walked away employee: i'll take it (shaking head), i dont know why she always does this. me: yeah why is she always so rude Employee: is that all? me: yeah thank you! (so pissed i call the owner right after since she took off) so i ask if she was the one who was rude and left me hanging outside with an order. I wanted to let everyone know how great Long Beach Colonial Mortuary. Eric went beyond the call of duty to help me, help my 93 year old mother. This was good old fashion caring about your customers. This Wonderful young man took the papers to my mom's house so she could sign them. Did you hear that, HE LEFT THE OFFICE AND TOOK THE PAPERS TO MY MOM. He knew I live about 50 miles from her and I need the papers signed right away so I could get her help. THIS WAS AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE.
