    Lovely welcome letter
    Tiffany S.

Friday evening we needed a place to stay for just the evening as we were on our way from Sherwood, OR to Mattawa, WA. I found this B&B using Google - it looked like a safe place to park our van full of motorcycles for the weekends trip so we booked! The booking process was simple and easy. We received an email confirmation with instructions. We arrived late; around 11pm. The directions regarding how to find out room were given over the phone and it terrified me as I was sure once we got there we wouldn't be able to make sense of it all as it sounds confusing. Once we arrived, everything we were told fell into place and we very easily made our way to our room after hours. Because they weren't fully booked and a better room was available, they upgraded us free of charge! Super nice surprise after such a long drive. The rooms was lovely and very cozy, we were both very impressed with every detail. In the morning breakfast was served at a time of our choosing and the cook...can cook! She made us an amazing omelet with fresh fruit, juice, and coffee. We would absolutely stay here again, great service and warm hospitality!

Our hostess was excellent. So appreciated her recommendations for places to go. Good food. Central location to tour area.

We arrived at peak cherry season the weekend of July 4th. Cherry trees surround the beautiful shared outdoor patio, ripe cherries covered the trees and were falling to the ground. Can one eat too many cherries? What is too many? Did I spoil my dinner? Yes! The Orchard Chalet is the bottom floor of the owners house. It is a 2 bed, 2 bath, living room with reasonably comfortable sleeper sofa, wood pellet stove, dining room & full kitchen. It has been a while since its last remodel, but it is comfortable and perfect for families. Its dedicated, semi-enclosed, outdoor covered patio provides plenty of space to spread out and relax. Our parents and children enjoyed their stay in the Orchard Chalet. We were able to comfortably entertain a couple families that stopped by to say hello. A building behind the main home is split into 2 units, the Sunrise and Santina Chalets. I stayed in the Santina Chalet which is freshly remodeled in a modern styling - highly recommended for couples wanting a romantic getaway! The bathroom has a spacious shower and soaking tub. Its backdoor opens to a deck overlooking the cherry orchard. Look for my pictures. The owners were very friendly, but sadly they were heading out of town so we missed out on the breakfast that others rave about. Will we return? YES!

Fast forward 20 years and we had the opportunity to come out here for a restaurant week special. Brad, the owner, is a huge proponent of the culinary scene in town and was one of the first people to sign up for the inaugural Yakima Valley restaurant week and as such we obviously had to check it out again! Birchfield manor, as the name implies, is indeed a large home. It's got a relatively large dining area downstairs that encompasses a couple of rooms. It holds roughly 30 people and there are a number of bed-and-breakfast type rooms upstairs as well as in an accompanying facility next-door. The place feels much more out in the country than it actually is. It's about five minutes from the freeway and literally three blocks from a bale breaker's brewery! For the restaurant week festivities, they put on a special $25 per person, three-course dinner. It was downright amazing! Brad is an incredibly talented chef and really showcased his talents this evening. We had six at our table so we ended up sampling a bit of everything. The wine list is solid and highlighted a lot of local wines with the remained being from Washington state. Bravo! It started off with some delicious bread and probably the best butter that any of us have ever experienced. It's rare that I am significantly impressed by butter, but they definitely did it here. It had some really nice herbs in it and reset alongside some olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The bread was a combination of freshly baked loves and some cheddar biscuits. Definitely ate a lot more bread than we should've! The Grilled bread salad was magnificent. Tomatoes, lovely greens, mozzarella and grilled croutons made it one of the more memorable salads I've ever had. For the main course, our table basically passed around the different dishes that were available. They included a Lamb Bolognaise, A steak Diane and the signature dish - King Salmon en Croute. All of them were absolutely delicious. The steak Diane was particularly good. The sauce was really nice and the meet was done just perfectly. It takes a lot to impress us with steak, but they definitely did it here. The salmon dish was also particularly good. It was basically a king salmon fillet in a puff pastry with a Yakima Chardonnay sauce. The accoutrements were elegantly done and included some sautéed vegetables, cylindrical couscous and some very nice zucchini with tomatoes on top. The presentation was wonderful and everything was good enough to share or keep to yourself, whatever your pleasure! For dessert, a delicious double chocolate cake was the initial delight with the fabled chocolate swan making rounds to finish the night! It was all a perfect ending to a great evening. By the end of the night we were impressed with the food, drink, decor and the service- hard to not love everything they're doing here! We'll be back for an occasion other than restaurant week, soon!

Manager Heather and her team couldn't make you happier to be there if you were were their family or friends visiting from out of town. Everything was exactly as requested and confirmed when we booked our stay. Facility and grounds - This location was immaculate. The parking lot was well tended and large sized (and felt safe and secure.) And parking IS FREE. Room - Our one-king bed room would have passed an Army drill sergeant's white-glove inspection. It was spacious and well-appointed. The fridge and microwave worked just as well as everything else in the room and on site. The hot breakfast - Are you kidding me? This was no ordinary morning motel breakfast (think of those nasty oatmeal spills and over-filled waffle makers.) No way! We're talking custom-made omelettes and breakfast burritos made fresh from scratch while you wait! (SEE MY PIX) But wait, there's more! You get a cappucino and latté machine, hot chocolate, juices, fruit, all the other classic favorites, too! And, yes, it came free with the room. Ease of access - You're in line of sight from the freeway, not a quarter mile away, but without any of that highway noise. Bottom Line Last? - YES, DO BOOK your stay here! Heather and her team definitely will make you feel welcome and valued. This is our new go-to choice for when we visit the area!

The property is stunning -- each room uniquely styled with international flair, from Italian and Spanish to French and even Dubai-inspired décor. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with a pool area that instantly transported us to Tuscany. There were plenty of loungers for relaxing by the sparkling swimming pool, plus a generously sized hot tub to unwind in. The staff truly elevated our stay -- warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. A special shoutout to Rosalina, who was an absolute gem. She made us feel so welcome and even surprised us with a homemade tres leches cake to celebrate one of our friend's birthdays. That personal touch meant the world. We dined at the property one evening; the meal was enjoyable, though not quite exceptional. Still, the ambiance of the mansion more than made up for it. Located about 20 minutes outside downtown Walla Walla, Cameo Heights offers a peaceful retreat -- serene, secluded, and blissfully quiet. The only trade-off is the drive to and from wine tastings, which can feel a bit long at times. But once you're back, it's pure tranquility.

The owner was so kind and gave us an additional night for free! We got to really enjoy the mansion since we had another night. We took bubble baths, watched movies, played ping pong, and ate dinner at The Vine fine dining restaurant (my review for how amazing it was is separate from this one). We loved how calm and quiet everything was as there were no children allowed either. The wake up service was great AND the coffee was so good which is unheard of at most hotels. ;) Breakfast was indescribable, OMG!!! Top shelf chefs are employed here! Michelle and Jessica were very kind and accommodating during our trip. Overall a much needed stay that was absolutely perfect.

This Best Western Plus offers a surprisingly good value with a room that was more spacious and comfortable than I expected along with a beautiful view. There is a Denny's and a convenience store nearby both of which I took advantage of. I am beyond sick and tired of hotels that refuse to buy enough luggage carts to have them available for their guests, and also refuse to enforce any kind of policy that holds guests responsible for returning the carts in a timely manner. Suggestion: If you want a cart you provide a $50 deposit (charged to your room) and if the cart is not returned in 30 minutes you lose the deposit. I should not have to make 8 trips back and forth at check-in AND check-out to shuttle my belongings from a full-size SUV packed for a 3 week roadtrip (everyone knows not to leave a single item in their vehicle overnight). The TV's built-in entertainment system was frustrating to navigate and outdated. I expect easy access to Netflix/Tubi/Prime Video in 2026. I was not given any info about WiFi and I could not find a WiFi signal. Parking is very limited and even more so when the hotel is hosting a party on their back lawn. If management would address some of the issues mentioned above this could be a 5 star Best Western Plus, it certainly has the potential.
