Here's the rundown of the greatest hits: Sam is the most fun bartender I've ever met, every time I see Sam at the bar my eyes light up like I'm seeing Santa for the first time. Jesse is my heart and soul, every time Jesse is working I know I'll get the greatest drinks and service of any bartender I've ever had the pleasure to drink with. Pat has also saved my ass many times from rowdy a holes coming from other bars. He's quick to jump in when people harass sunpies guests. Why are the beers frozen a bucket of beer comes with ice and a fucking bucket. Freezing the beer as a six pack just ruins it and makes it flat, actually the dumbest shit ever. So when you freeze things it gets rid of the carbonation, and a flat beer is just a RUNIED BEER! read more

If you come to Steamboat you have to come here at least once. I've come to ski here like 20 times and don't think we've ever left this town without stopping here. The food is unique in a great way and you won't find food like it anywhere else. I haven't had something from here I don't like and I think I've tried everything on the menu. I have never been so disappointed and disgusted by customer service before. To begin with when you first enter the restaurant you are NOT ASKED FOR AN ID but warned that you won't be able to get a drink. So yes, this place was filled with underage kids. When getting a drink at the bar, which took forever to get to with how packed the space was filled I noticed the bar tenders refusing to serve a group of very sweat Hispanic people for not tipping enough- ..... I tipped less and was not questioned. The blatant racism I noticed here was disturbing and felt dehumanizing as these bartenders purposely avoided serving certain clientele by their race. After four hours of tubing, our seriously sunburnt group decided to pull off the water for some much-needed refreshments. Sunpies was the perfect spot to pull off! We deflated our tubes and dried off with a beer some french fries and chicken tenders (which we demolished). There was plenty of patio seating which was perfect for the sunny afternoon & we were able to get a shaded table with an umbrella which was perfect when some afternoon rain rolled in. Sunpies had a fun atmosphere and the service was great. We loved it so much that we ended up coming back later in the evening. I think it's 100% adorbs that Sunpie's is actually Sunpie's Bistro when in reality, they should label theirselves as a bar/gameroom/all around good time. I love Sunpie's for the atmosphere (lots of good company), the entertainment (cornhole, jenga and that ring and hook whatever game), their patio (right by the Yampa River too!) but mostly it's that Hurricane. I came in on a Friday afternoon and loved the vibes from the Bistro! This place had a lot of character walking in and I definitely enjoyed the atmosphere! Service and staff were super friendly! As for the food I ordered the Fried shrimp basket with hush puppies, Fried Okra, and the Muffuletta! I liked the shrimp and it's crispness! The hush puppies were super good with the honey and butter, it was a nice contrast to the shrimp! The fried okra was super yummy and the portions were beyond huge!! My party and I loved the muffuletta and we weren't used to it being warmed, but it was definitely game changer!! read more

Stopped in here on Monday after tent camping at Steamboat Lake. This is our go -to spot when we camp up in Steamboat because they don't give a crap that I'm covered in dirt and haven't showered for three days. You order everything at the bar and then find your seat. We got a great spot in the shade right next to the Yampa. They have one of my favorite outdoor dining areas in all of Colorado. Bloody Mary was good; it's pretty Plain Jane with no garnishes or anything but flavor is great and always a good pour. French Onion soup was really good. Lots of perfectly soften onions and gruyere cheese. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm glad I ordered it because my friend shrimp basket was just OK. Fries were great but shrimp was overly battered and slightly over cooked. Hubs loved his burger and overall it was a lovely lunch at one of our favorites stops in Steamboat. When you visit a place 3 times in less then 24 hours it's a sure sign that you had a great time! It's a fun friendly place to have a few drinks and a bite to eat. We arrived a little early as this was the start of our Pub crawl in Steamboat. We sat in the back room and perused the menu. I didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. They have a great variety of things to choose from . I opted for the 1/2 Roast Beef Po Boy with Hush Puppies. Yes.. HUSHPUPPIES!!!!! Never have I been able to get these little bundles of deep fried corn goodness with a roast beef sandwich. You order your food at the bar, this isn't one of those fru fru places. Yes they will deliver it to you and when they did.. oh man. I was not expecting anywhere near what I got. Little torpedoes of hushpuppie goodness and they serve them with butter!!!!! GENIUS!!!! The Roast Beef was ample and so tender. It was also a touch on the salty side but it was just too good to put down salty or not. Who in the world knew lettuce and brown gravy would actually work together??? Certainly not me but good lord it was heaven. The bread is amazing and light yet substantial enough to hold together with all the gravy. The portion at half is very large, I can't imagine what a full sandwich would even look like. It was so good I had to return the very next day to have the same thing!!!! Once we finished our meal the bigger festivities began, they never missed a beat as their regulars and over 50-75 of us piled in over and hour and a half as our first stop on the tour. All the stars for the staff here, so nice and not sure how they do so much!! No stars for the food which was horrendous. I tried the oyster basket, nope, don't do it. Definitely a locals only hang, not a good spot for a solo traveler but I'm sure it's great if you live here and know everyone... It's really nice to sit out back and have a few drinks overlooking the river. The food is solid. I had the shrimp po-boy which was good, though I prefer my shrimp non-fried. This is out go to place when we stay in Steamboat; especially before and after tubing down the Yampa. The best seating is outdoors along the river where you can lounge out and enjoy watching the tubers go buy with a delicious drink in your hand. We always enjoy the hurricanes and po'boys. We ordered Abita IPAs, on special for $2.50, and their version of a muffaletta, which was pressed, on poor boy bread, dressed with a tasty chunky olive salad, delish! Service: As expected, this place specializes in being low key and a good value. You find your own table, order food at the bar, and bus your table after you eat. The staff were friendly and to the point; the food took a while, but I'm assuming that's because it's a pretty small kitchen. Atmosphere: I've seen other reviews call this place divey, and that is totally true if you stay inside. However, they have some prime reality out back by the stream, which makes up for anything you see at the bar. It was one of the most relaxed dinners we had in Steamboat, and everyone was cheerful. Food: This place screams "value." All of the sandwiches are around $10 or under (although fries are $1.50 extra) and the fried okra was a steal for an appetizer; they gave us so much that we couldn't even finish it. My brother got the shrimp Po' Boy and he said it was delicious; I got the Mufaletta and it was equally tasty. The fries are nothing to write home about, but considering the price (and you don't have to tip!), this is one of the best values in Steamboat! read more

Fun to drink but the bouncers suck!!!! Mark saw his coworker really under the influence, but he didn't help her. I ran into his coworker who was overly under the influence and incoherent and her coworkers didn't want to help her. Mark said he had a job to do and wasn't going to help her. Mardi Gras in Steamboat isn't going to be anything like Bourbon Street, at all. But at least at Sunpie's you can get Cajun style eats at a reasonable price. Sunpie's is a block off Lincoln, so take your car or the free city bus to get there if you are staying near the mountain. Once you see the neon Abita sign you know you are in the right place. It has a dive bar feel, and does remind you of hole in the wall places in NOLA. Everyone is friendly here, but you must order food and pay at the bar even if you place to dine inside. Portions are huge, and tasty. I loved the red beans and rice, and their French Onion soup on special was lovely. read more
