Totally disorganized!! If you want to be seen by a office that values their patients and their time don't bother coming here.

My 6 year old son has had severe dental anxiety. At our previous dentist we made two attempts to get that cap done. They put him on nitrous for the first try, and oral anesthesia on the second with three assistants holding him down. We were told that our only option would be to put him under general anesthesia. We decided to get a second opinion. Dr. Mortaji assessed my son's situation and administered treatment quickly and calmly. My kid was horrified when we arrived for the visit and calm when we left. I had to take him to the bathroom afterwards to show him that he lost his two bottom front incisors and had a cap put in! Best!

The dentist is a complete jerk that hardly speaks English. He is rude and not comforting to children. My 8 year old daughter was so excited to show she had no cavities and he was rude and unprofessional. The dingbat dental assistant was also rude and did not know her head for a hole in the ground. Nightmare!! No wonder they do not like the parents to go back with their children. However, one older gal at the front desk was super friendly and welcoming, other front desk lady did not want to set down the morning paper to check my daughter in for her appointment or get us paperwork. What a slob!

First off, the check in staff are so friendly, and accommodating, and consistently go out of their way to help with any scheduling needs, always providing appointment reminders via phone call or text. The lobby is stimulating and exciting for the children, with top of the line technology, a small movie room, and even an exciting scavenger hunt for the kids to participate in while they are there. The dental assistant/hygienists are ALWAYS incredibly welcoming, patient, and engage with the children in every necessary way. They go above and beyond to make sure everyone is comfortable and taken care of, and aside from the individualized rooms, there is a common area with chairs and cleanings being done, everything is clean and in order and just inviting overall. Again, the technology is top notch, tv screens above the chairs, xray machines, computerized imaging. The staff of Dentists are fantastic. My children have been with 2 or 3 over the years and every single encounter has been treated with expert knowledge, excellent care, excellent service. Lastly, the checkout staff are exceptional. So hospitable & cooperative & encouraging. My children never dread coming to the dentist and that says A LOT!!!!

I strongly urge others to reconsider using Smiles for Kids Dentistry. Unfortunately, our experience…read morewith the front office staff has been consistently negative. They are often rude, dismissive, and show little concern for patient care or communication. Our family has been with Smiles for Kids for over 15 years, but we will now be finding a new dental office. I have two children with braces and schedule their appointments together on the same day and time. We use the dental office next door for routine care without any issues. I have provided updated insurance information multiple times for one of my children, yet every visit I am told his insurance has "expired" and I am asked to pay out of pocket. Each time, I explain that I already submitted the new insurance information months ago and that there are no issues at the neighboring office. The response I receive is often in a snarky and unprofessional tone, stating that their system does not communicate with the other office's system and that it is "not their responsibility." I was even told I should have read the contract to know this, which is unreasonable and unhelpful. When appointments need to be rescheduled due to illness or unforeseen issues, the wait time is often weeks or even months. However, when they are selling braces, they seem to have immediate availability. This creates the impression that sales are prioritized over patient care. Additionally, phone calls are rarely answered and voicemails are not returned in a timely manner, making it extremely difficult to resolve issues. Overall, the lack of professionalism, poor communication, and repeated billing problems have made this office more stressful than helpful. Save yourself the frustration and consider another provider.

Once a Great Dental Clinic, Now Deeply Disappointing…read more My family has been patients at Family Dental for just over a year. Early on, they earned our trust--they offered appointments that worked for two working parents of three children, and even coordinated back-to-back bookings. The office felt genuinely family-friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, starting early this year, things took a troubling turn. During a February checkup, two of my children were told they needed multiple procedures: fillings, extractions, and even a crown. I requested to book those immediately but was told they needed to confirm insurance first. I waited over 20 minutes at the desk only to be told they'd call me later with a quote. That call never came. When I followed up, I encountered concerning service. The representative--who I believe is the office manager--was dismissive and twice placed the phone down instead of properly placing me on hold, letting me overhear unrelated conversations with other staff. She repeatedly asked if I was "okay" with the cost, despite me clearly stating it wasn't a problem. Her tone and insistence left me feeling judged, as though I couldn't afford the treatment or didn't understand her explanation. At our next visit, we arrived early for our 1:00 pm appointment and waited nearly five minutes before anyone acknowledged us, despite five staff members being present--including the office manager. When I asked about reimbursement if services weren't received, the response insinuated that I didn't want to pay rather than simply providing clarity. My 8-year-old was especially nervous, and while one kind dental assistant allowed me to accompany her briefly to offer comfort, I was shocked by what my daughter shared afterward. She said the dentist told her the assistant couldn't stay because she had "wasted her time." That's not how you speak to a scared child. To make matters worse, I was nearly charged for an extraction that wasn't performed--only numbing was done. When I tried to clarify at checkout, the office manager repeatedly interrupted me and made it clear she didn't want a conversation. She finally said she'd check with someone "higher up," but I could hear her loud phone conversation where she misrepresented me as refusing to pay for services my child "received." That, on top of everything else--including my daughter saying the dentist was "mean"--solidified our decision: this most recent visit was our last. I understand staffing issues happen, but that doesn't excuse lack of empathy, poor communication, and dismissive treatment. A pediatric-friendly clinic should prioritize kindness and clarity, not frustration and judgment.

He was rude and condescending throughout my visit. I don't trust him or anything that he told me. When I asked the woman who brought me back if he was usually so rude to patients and if he failed to greet all of his patients, her response was, "he has other patients to get to." As though that's an acceptable response. He is a nasty set of work. If you hate patients so much - get another job. Any professional that is too busy to greet patients with a simple hello, you know, treating people like they're human, doesn't need to be in business. When I went up to the front they asked if I would like to start scheduling my cleanings there. HELL NO. As a matter of fact, I will never be back again and I'll tell everybody not go to this establishment. I couldn't imagine him working with children. This evil, little man should go out of business. DO NOT GO HERE.

The dentistry is one of the Premier places here in Albuquerque, the staff have always been the most patient and friendly people and they will put your children at ease.
