They were early in taking restrictive measure--even before CMS required them. They have been transparent and communicated with families frequently. It was inevitable, given their location in Northern Virginia, that there would be COVID cases--especially since many staff work at least 2 jobs including at other facilities. Tall Oaks gave direct care staff a raise and asked them to limit their work to this single facility. Tall Oaks seems to have managed the COVID cases well, working closely with the Fairfax County Health Dept. Yes--there have been some deaths (inevitable in this population), but cases have been limited to fewer than 10% of their population. My 99-year-old parents have been safe, with no cases among residents or staff reported on their floor. My parents have lived at Tall Oaks for over 7 years. There have been many staff changes and although I've never been concerned for their safety, management and care has been variable, with current staff returning quality to the level it was when they moved in. Yes--I've had some complaints and frustrations over the years, mostly related to staff not taking responsibility for issues or not following through on commitments, but these kinds of issues have mostly disappeared in recent years as staff has changed. If I had to find a residence for my parents again, I would definitely choose Tall Oaks Assisted Living.

During one visit, I walked in to find Activities Director Molly giving residents manicures. It wasn't a scheduled event for show; it was simply a thoughtful act of kindness that brought smiles and dignity to the residents. On another visit to the Cottage, I watched Patrick from the activities team prepare residents for lunch by personally going to each resident with a warm washcloth to gently wash their hands before the meal. I thought that was such a compassionate gesture. I've also noticed his attentiveness to each resident's unique behaviors and mannerisms, always meeting them with patience, dignity, and genuine care. The clinical leadership is equally impressive. Director of Nursing Afua and Cottage Manager Stacy provide such personal, attentive care that it is genuinely touching to witness. Their relationships with the residents are built on trust, compassion, and a sincere commitment to treating each person as an individual. It is evident that they know their residents well and are deeply invested in their well-being. Every visit begins with a warm welcome from Kimberly and Max at the front desk, and Executive Director Erika leads with professionalism, warmth, and a collaborative spirit that is reflected throughout the entire community. Erika has an open door policy and it's so nice to see how engaged she is in every aspect of the resident and employee life at Spring Arbor. Spring Arbor of Leesburg doesn't just provide excellent care--it truly feels like home. Every interaction reflects a culture of kindness, dignity, and respect. You can see the residents are genuinely known and loved, the staff clearly enjoy what they do, and it is evident that this community is dedicated to enriching the lives of those they serve. The handyman Raymond always visits him and we come down when we can. Even in the pandemic they let us visit and test us for free for his safety. His room is spacious and he has a kitchen and fridge for all his treats in suite. Feel like these folks really care for dad, good to see him smiling again since mom passed.
