Plenty of seating. The server es were super kind and helpful, we were never without anything. The suggestion for the chorizo Benedict was amazing! So delicious and flavorful. The pumpkin pancakes were also very tasty. This is a hidden gem!

Great experience! Service was attentive and quick. The food was delicious and filling. I had the mocha to drink and the mexican eggs benedict. Came here for brunch in the early afternoon on a Tuesday, party of 2. My order: sunrise breakfast with the waffle, 2 eggs poached, and sausage links for $18. Pros: - very fast service! food came out so quickly like in 5 minutes - Really delicious food, the waffle was great - Very clean and simple decor inside - Lots of seating, but best for parties of 4 or less - poached eggs were excellently done. - Everyone was kind and professional Cons: - None. simple, straightforward brunch. We were on our way to a different breakfast place when we spotted Sunrise Cafe & wanted to try it instead. We were met with friendly faces & received excellent service. Our waiter, Giovanni, was attentive, friendly & very professional. The owner came by & told us she's been here for 3 years. I loved the interior of the cafe. It has cute French paintings throughout & it's nice & bright in here. There's some windows looking out to Lighthouse Avenue & our server put us in the best spot. Now the food! My avocado toast was the BEST AVOCADO TOAST I've ever had!!! I chose to add tomato to it & mixed with the oils, seasoning & the amazingly fluffy bread creates a decadent flavor. I truly had to savor it because I know I could eat it all way too fast. My husband loved their steak & he said the sourdough toast was the best he's had. It's fluffy & full of flavor. Our baby enjoyed her waffles & sausage. They truly give a ton of food for the price on a kids menu!! Honestly, I'm so thankful we decided to come here instead of the other place. This friendly & quiet atmosphere was everything we wanted to experience on our vacation, as well as the food. We look forward to coming here in the future as we visit Monterey often.

Very tasty and friendly. It is a small place, but we were able to get a table on a Friday morning. I listened to other reviewers and tried the avocado toast with buffalo mozzarella and I also got a side of bacon for the table. My husband got the Spanish omelette with toast and crispy hashbrowns. Both of our food was delicious and came out fast. The servers were on top of water and if we needed anything. Would definitely eat there again.

Came to Sunrise Cafe on a Sunday at 9:20am. It was about a third filled at the time and so I got seated right away. By 9:45am, the seating inside was full. There was 4+ tables outside. My husband and I got seated at a 2 seater table by the big window in the front of the restaurant, which I thought was the best seat in the house. The inside of the restaurant is clean, cozy, and decorated with light wood tables and chairs with green vinyl seats. There was soft instrumental music playing in the background too. I ordered the chicken fried steak, my husband's favorite breakfast dish, from the Specialty menu at $23.99 and two coffees at $3.99 each. My husband and I split the order. The chicken fried steak was a good size steak and was breaded with a crispy panko crust, which I haven't had cooked that way before. The gravy was tasty and not too salty like some can be. The dish came with homefries made of freshly pan fried red potatoe chunks, two eggs, and sourdough toast. Service was good and we enjoyed our meal there, and I will recommended it to our friends.

Food was just ok. Service was ok. The restaurant seemed clean but the bathroom needed attending to. It was cold inside. It was Christmas time and they didn't have much of any decorations. Street parking only. I don't think I will be back.

It was fine. I maybe ordered not their best thing but to be fair it was on their "special menu". I ordered the fried steak with over medium eggs and hash browns. It was pretty greasy, chewy edges either fat or skin, and the eggs were over easy. I may be nitpicking but i wouldn't have minded if it was like $15 but it was $24. I also got a latte but with this place i think you are better off with plain coffee. and then i got a side of sausage links for my dog. All in all the bill came out to $40 w/o tip. So, not my favorite spot, i'd maybe give it another chance with a different order. The positive is that the servers are all very nice and friendly. I did sit outside and it is a busy street just fyi so me going alone was fine but if going with a group id go inside so you can hear each other

First time I came when they opened food was good and service excellent. Second time took 15 minutes to take my order, only a few people in this tiny place a waiter and waitress. The lady waited on me took my order asked twice to make sure no butter on toast and I only asked for water. 20 minutes for the glass of water and 30 minutes for my meal. A gentlemen on next table everything was served in less than 15 minutes and yes his glass of water was served to him immediately as he was seated. End of story here, butter on toast and the guy next to me left 5 minutes before me. Food GREAT service lousy. read more

I noticed the restaurant out of the corner of my eye while driving back to the hotel. I said that is where we are having breakfast tomorrow morning. There was something about the restaurant that gave off some good vibes. We got there the next morning, to find we were the only ones there at 8:10. (Best part of the day is the morning with a great breakfast however locals are not up early) The coffee was excellent but not as good as my Smoked Salmon Skillet. This was fabulous - reminded me of lox and eggs at the Rascal House in Miami Beach. My wife had the Huevos Rancheros - which she thoroughly enjoyed! There was nothing left on either plate - no need for dishwashing. One of the nicest things I saw in the cafe was a canvas framed art: "Life isn't finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself." They even gave us coffee in to go cups. As we were leaving there were 4 tables with customers so do yourself a favor and make this your go to Breakfast restaurant. (Bring plastic straws) read more

We wanted to have local fare for breakfast outside of the touristy areas in Monterey. Sunrise Cafe came up with 5 stars for breakfast so we made our way to its doors on Lighthouse Avenue. Cute little spot with delightful servers and a bright interior. The menu was full of delicious options. My wife settled on the Florentine Benedict and I ordered the Huevos Rancheros with Carnitas. As we waited for the food we were wondering how the heck can a restaurant have more than 50 reviews and maintain a perfect 5.0 score. The coffee came hot and strong, yum! Then our breakfasts arrived. My vegetarian wife dug into her Benedict and quickly came to the conclusion it was the best Benedict she ever had. My huevos rancheros was equally incredible. The eggs weee perfectly over easy, the tostadas were crunchy and crispy, the Pico de Gallo had snappy onions and ripe to morales with cilantro. The carnitas was perfect and not too salty. The sour cream was cool and refreshing. Best huevos rancheros I've ever had. Mystery solved on how they maintained a perfect score as here I am giving them an affirmative 5 stars. Great Monterey Gem!! Excellent Breakfast/Lunch restaurant! Food is simply delicious. Very clean and bright atmosphere. I ordered the 2 egg breakfast, with bacon and country potatoes with toast. The eggs were cooked perfect and the quality of bacon is very good. The country potatoes were crispy on outside and soft on the inside with great seasoning and the toast is thick. My sister ordered the chicken sandwich and said it was delicious. The staff is super friendly and highly attentive. We will definitely return. This place is such a perfect hidden gem! My mom and I went here for brunch and we loved every part of the experience! Second review. One week after our first. Came back to see if the last breakfast was just luck on their part. If anything our second visit was better than the first. Im not local to Monterey so my boyfriend, best friend, and I thought it would be cool to try out some local spots to eat. This place did not disappoint. Great service. Everyone was so kind. The Cafe itself has a great vibe. It's small, cozy, and very clean. The food was fantastic. Portion sizes are perfect. The salmon eggs benedict is something I'd reccomend to anyone who likes a savory breakfast. Overall great experience. It seems perfect for someone who wants to stay in a solid hotel with easy access to the course. It includes a spa (didn't try), tennis+pickleball, and the requisite restaurant and clubhouse. Staff here are super friendly, food is solid, and as an avid pickle and tennis player myself, I loved having the courts nearby. The gym is also pretty good compared to other hotel gyms. If I were to pick up golf and play regularly, I would probably come for a quick weekend golf trip.

First walking in the room, we noticed a weird smell and the bathroom smelled like somebody had just used it . The carpet in the bedroom is old and dirty looking. The bathroom shower and bathroom share one combined floor so when you use the shower, the entire floor gets soaked. I had to use up all the towels to soak up the water on the floor so we didn't slip and fall. When you flush the toilet it sounds like a hurricane. If you plan on using the bathroom during the night, be prepared to wake up everyone. You can also hear the toilet flushing in any room near yours. Also, there's no sink countertop, it's a stand alone sink so there's no place to put your stuff and get ready. You can hear the people in the next room like they are sitting in your room. The door to get into the building did not latch close on its own so anyone could walk into the building. Also when you check in, they charge an additional $20 parking fee, a $35 recreational fee and a refundable $50 fee. This was on top of the $369 cost of the room. I almost forgot I was awakened in the middle of the night to several people in the hallway, saying there was somebody running down our hallway and had just went up the stairs. This was probably because the building doors didn't latch like I mentioned above. For this price, I suggest you shop around and a smaller, cleaner, quieter, and newer hotel. This was a big disappointment for a Hyatt hotel, and not up to their standards.

They kept him company his entire meal, engaged in conversation, and made sure he was well taken care of. When the gentleman got up to leave, a young man, maybe a teenager, checked to make sure he had his cane and was taken care of. This was the best customer service I have ever seen in my life.

Kids chicken tenders- Kiddo enjoyed this and his fries Special salmon patties and grilled shrimp with rice and veggies- 2 Salmon patties that tasted okay (I am not a huge cooked salmon fan but will try something different on occasion), 2 garlic shrimp, rice, and plenty of veggies. Garlic bread- Bread was light and not super dense. I also liked that this was not cheesy. Fish and chips- Generous amount of delicious fish and fries.

We recently stopped by Sunrise Cafe for the first time and had a somewhat mixed dining experience. Let's start with the positives--the wait staff was amiable and attentive, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment we stepped in. The interior was straightforward, very basic cafe style. The setting had its charm, giving off a relaxed and casual vibe. The coffee was just okay--nothing to write home about. It lacked flavor, even for diner-style coffee - but it wasn't burnt and wasn't acidic, overall a totally inoffensive cup of joe. Now, onto the food. The country-style potatoes were disappointingly dry and bland, leaving much to be desired in terms of seasoning and texture. The watermelon slice that appears to come with any dish was nice and refreshing, at least! The California omelet was unfortunately overcooked, resulting in a slightly rubbery texture. The avocado, cheese, and bacon were all tasty - but that'd be kind of shocking to drop the ball with. The star, of course, should be the eggs and with them not fluffy and decidedly overdone it detracted from what should have been a flavorful and well-balanced classic. Unfortunately, the other dish we got, the veggie skillet, suffered from a lack of seasoning, leaving the overall taste a bit flat. Hashbrowns were good once you hit them with a bit of salt - crispy on the outside and buttery on the inside.
