    Delicious calamari
    Jack H.

We were on 17 mile drive and were absolutely starving. Since I dont know the area at all, I Yelped the area and found this amazing spot. We walked in and the place was empty, so we took the best seat on the outside patio overlooking the golf course. The weather was perfect. The view was perfect. Our waiter came by and got us drinks and our appetizers. We got calamari for appetizers and it was great. We devoured it cause we were so hungry lol. My wife got the steak sandwich which was sooo good, my daughter got a burger, which was delicious, and I got nachos with chicken, which was delicious also. The waiters would check on us regularly. It was such a great spot. If you're on 17 mile drive, this is a bit away from the Oceanside, but it's such a nice spot! I would definitely recommend grabbing lunch here tho!

Beautiful view from the restaurant overlooking the golf course and the forest. I started with a prickly pear. Margarita. The sausage pizza was amazing... Rustic, homemade crust, mozzarella, pickled onions, homemade sausage and hot honey. Delicious. I feel like this spot was not as pricey as the golf courses on 17 mile drive.

    French Toast

Warmly greeted and Susan was very helpful and attentive. A pretty good breakfast, to be sure. The French Toast was perfect, although I would have liked some more strawberries on top, personally. The Chicken Fried Steak looked hearty. The side of poached eggs were way overdone - between a soft and hard yolk - not even close. Bloody Mary was decent. A nice complement to Poppy Hills Golf Course.

So fortunate to live in the area and experience the hidden treasures in our backyard. Our server Augustine was hands down one the best servers we had the pleasure of meeting in a while. The weather was perfect to enjoy the deck. This was my second time visiting. The first time I had lunch which was just as good as our breakfast that morning. Definitely will be back to try other things off their menu.

    Yummy corned beef hash!

Returned for our semiannual visit and was so happy to find the service and food still excellent! Rosendo was our server today and made sure we always had our water and coffees filled. We return over and over for a reason! Today, we had the corned beef hash which is made with real beef brisket that is served over shredded hash browns and eggs. Just the perfect thing to fill our bellies with before heading out onto the course. Thank you Porter's in the Forest for another fine visit!

GOLF COURSE AT PEBBLE BEACH I didn't know picking a place for us to dine for lunch would end up being at a golf course in a gated community costing $10 to enter IN PEBBLE BEACH. We made reservations for 1pm and sat outside of the deck to view the golf course. Such a pretty view! Service was poor. We had to call the hostess who served us more than our waiter. The waiter never bothered to deliver my drink sitting on the courier after asking for it TWICE. That should have been scratch off the bill in my opinion! AFTERNOON BLUES - I think thats what the beverage was called. The taste was refreshing, light, and had no hints of alcohol but indeed there was alcohol in it. Presentation of my drink was simple and elegant. Highly recommend!!! FRIED ARTICHOKE HEARTS - such a delicious appetizer. Who doesn't love artichokes?!?! The hearts were like buds and deep fried with very thin slices of lemon that happen to also be edible. Never had an appetizer like this before and really enjoyed every bite. If you like the zing of citrus take a bite of the thin sliced deep fried lemons. Highly Recommend!!! CHICKEN PICCATA - such a delicious meal. The chicken was perfectly prepared. The thin skin was crispy and had great flavor. The breast meat was tender and moist. It was resting on a bed of couscous that was mixed with chopped herbs and olives... So good. And then garnished and topped with spinach and some kind of broccolini. The only thing that I couldn't consume on the plate was the bitter broccolini; too bitter for my liking. Overall, it was a well executed dish. Presentation was beautiful. Highly recommend!!! FLANK STEAK WITH FIXINGS - presentation was nice, block of flank steak, greens, and beans that looked like Mac and cheese from across the table. OF MENTIONING... ordered as medium well and came or as well done AKA beef jerky. Until the next review...

We arrived to the restaurant after a beautiful drive around Pebble Beach, which might be one of the most beautiful areas in California. The restaurant is inside the clubhouse of a golf course and was basically empty for a Sunday morning brunch. We were told that breakfast ended at 11 AM but they still had a couple items we could order from the breakfast menu instead of getting lunch. We ordered the eggs benedict and the veggie omelet and both were excellent. The benedict with avocado and mushrooms can rival any benedict we've had and the omelet was well done too. It's a great view over the gold course while eating and our server was great. I'm not as familiar with other breakfast options in the area but this was a treat.

Really liked this establishment and would recommend it to others. Outside seating is just fabulous but make sure the heaters work! We moved to the fire place and had to try and fit our plates on that tiny space because all the other heaters were not working. Anyways, we started with the calamari which was very good and such a huge portion! What a great start! Next we got the sirloin steak, burger, salad, and the fish of the day which was their special: a nice salmon cooked with clams, muscles, mushrooms and asparagus. Everything was fresh and tasted exceptional. The staff was so friendly! Will be back soon!

Crispy pork rillettes. Taste just like a skinny pork egg roll.

3-STAR for the service. We sat down for over 15 mins before the waiter realized we were around. Even overheard the busboy nudging the waiter to wait on us as we were looking around and showing irritation. Food was amazing!

Our order consisted of a steak salad/fries and a calamari steak sandwich. I can't comment on my daughter's food because she ate all of it with no complaints. Mine was ok, wasn't bad nor great but I was excited (I'm a fatty) about the slice of key lime pie I took home. Unfortunately I was really disappointed. No key lime "zing" to the filling and the whipped cream only had a small hint of sweetness. The sliced almonds were really unpleasant, they had the old rancid taste/smell. Overall I wasn't thrilled with the food nor the price. Service was below average, I say that because it was not busy at all yet we had to get the servers attention more than once, meaning she didn't check on us. On a positive note I was able to spend the day with my beautiful daughter.

I replied "They have perfected this recipe for decades upon decades. It's their famous soup." Thank you Jose R for your rad customer service & greatly appreciate you. I wanted something to drink that wasn't sweet, so I tried their raspberry ice tea. They used a sugary syrup to flavor the tea, and that was a strike out. It was sweeter than a soda, so it went back and I swapped it out for a plain unsweetened ice tea. Then we tried the cheesy garlic bread, which we were really looking forward to. Welp, it came out with mozzarella cheese and a ton of corn. No butter. No garlic. We all looked at each other when we tried it. Ok, let's try their brussel sprouts. Those are hard to mess up - but sure enough, they managed to. They deep fried them to the point they were black and charred. There wasn't anything left of the brussel sprout itself, it was mostly crunchy charcoal. At this point, we all ordered something we assumed would be safe for our main. I got the sliders and a side salad. I had the salad but only of the sliders. The cheese on it was queso, like you use to dip chips, so it was ran all over the place and the burger was a grease ball. I won't even get into what everyone else had, but they had similar experiences. Overall, it was pretty disappointing. Maybe there are other things or other times where this place is better, but it was a swing and a miss for us.

The fish and chips is the ultimate meal. The burger was savory, soft and creamy just he right amount. It perfectly paired with the Talbott pinot noir they recommended. The only comment is make is the amount of French fries that were served with the burger. The plate was a lot larger looking because a sparse amount of fries was served alongside. Maybe add a little more next time just to balance it off. The servers/bartenders knew their stuff. They provided what they could in terms of what was popular and well liked. They said both items we ordered were the most popular. The fish and chips have won best fish and chips 3 years in a row. I would agree with this since I usually am not wowed with this dish.
