Don came out to our house and we had already dug up our septic tank, so he was able to easily remove our lids with the appropriate tools (old septic tank built, put in when the house was originally built in 1977). He was polite and professional and even tried to help unclog a drain after emptying the septic tank. He had an audience as the children in the neighborhood were fascinated to watch the big truck and hose, and he had a big smile on his face as they all stayed a safe distance away plugging their noses! Ron came out to our place and did a great job! I have been ripped off in the past and this company is the opposite. Our tanks had lots of problems which he fixed at no extra charge, stayed over an hour for a normal 25 min job, no extra charge, and solved the problem we were having, of course... no extra charge. 9 yrs ago I had a new lid made, it was shot. He made three lids that will never wear out for less than the one made by Abbot 9 yrs ago. He also raised new lids for me so no more big holes. Called Sunrise to have our septic pumped and checked. It had been 4 yrs since we've had it done. I had a different place pump it 4 years ago but chose Sunrise this time because they had the lowest price and good reviews on Yelp. I was pleased with the work John did today. My husband and I dug up the lids before he came out which saved John time and saved us money. John pumped and showed me the inside of the tanks and how the wall between the two had a hole in it. He gave me phone numbers of cement contractors that could fix it as well as his number if we wanted him to do it. He was friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the septic system. We just bought this bank-owned property with a septic tank in unknown condition. John came and took care of it. He had to open the lids with rusted bolts. He cleaned up the very full tank for more than two hours as the septic tank was situated very far down a canyon - and unfortunately it was mid July between 1 and 3 pm in full sun (more than 95F). He did a very good job, and was very friendly all along, and personable. In addition to pumping up the tank, John gave me advise on how to take care of the septic tank as it is the first time I have one, and he checked it was working properly giving me peace of mind. At my property in San Marcos over the last 13 years I have called a number of pumpers to pump my tank out. Ron is the first guy to grout the lid back on top of the tank. Sue (the receptionist.. I think) has no idea what customer service means. I called because I needed their maintenance and service SOPs for a safety audit this week. She told me that they have been servicing septic tanks for 30 years and knew what they were doing. I'm sure that they know what they are doing... But that answer isn't going to please the safety auditor. When I explained that I needed a copy of their service procedures she stated that she was too busy and not interested... As if I was trying to sell her something.... HHEEELLLLLOOOOO I BUY YOUR SERVICE! She was so rude and actually hung up on me... A customer. Hired them to do septic inspection on a home we were buying waited two weeks for the job. They agreed to digging the lids. I was willing to pay the price on how ever long it took. They arrived with shovels and said the ground was to hard told us they can't do it. They even told my husband our tank is not to old we should be fine. Well because of their refusal/failed promise to do the work I unfortunately had no choice but to purchase the home without a septic inspection due to we had no more days left in the contingency period. Well just shortly after moving into our new home. We had a nice backup into the house causing thousands of dollars of black water damage. This placed us out of our home . My husband and I personally dug up the lids in 3 hours with picks and shovels. Finding We had a collapsed inlet to the tank which had been leaking sewage for years into the ground . To be honest this whole story smells from the beginning they came with no intentions of doing any digging or inspecting they came stuck a stick in the ground and left hmmm I wonder why? read more

We had our spetic tank pumped a few months back and we used Sunrise because the previous owner had used them. I called, set up the appointment about 10 days later. They showed up on time, dug in the yard and completed the job in about an hour. The owner stopped by while the job was being started. Everything went well. However 2 month later we had a back up on the sewer line, things started to get pretty ugly and I thought it could have something to do with the pumping job. I called the office, spoke the same lady who offered to have the owner call me back. I think John called within 30 mn and assisted over the phone to help me figure out if it was a plumbing issue or the sewer line. He was very helpful, you can tell I don't know anything about these problems but I appreciated his professionalism. I think you can trust this business. read more

John showed up to pump our septic. This was our first time using this company but John's professionalism and demeanor provided us with a positive feeling toward this company. It is a good thing that John represents this company so well since the female answering the telephone does not. We scheduled this appointment two weeks ago and we were provided a two hour window. However, we did not receive any kind of confirmation prior to the appointment, like a courtesy call the day before to confirm. This is a common practice in business that saves everyone time, especially the company that could send an employee out to have an absent homeowner. My wife called in the morning to confirm and was met by an unfriendly response from the female answering. It was as if we had interrupted her day. Not a great representation from a service based/ return service dependent business. John receives 5 stars. He is knowledgable and professional. I recommend this company for John's work and John's work only. If his attitude was anything like the phone response we would find another company. I've been using Sunrise since I bought my house in 2001. Last time they were here, they made new covers for my two risers (which were wonderful, therefore the 2 stars) and I guess they threw some sort of chemical or dirty water on a tangerine tree that was right next to it, and the next day it shriveled up and died. I had the tree for about 5 years and it was just starting to get big and give me lots of tangerines. I had to eventually dig it up and replace it. I was horribly upset that someone could be so thoughtless. And to boot, the woman who answers the phone was rude to me about it saying the mortar water couldn't possibly kill my tree. Sorry, but a tree doesn't just shrivel up and die in 24 hours for no reason. She could have at least apologized. Others have complained about her too, so maybe it's time to hire someone new to answer phones. As a self employed person, the customer is always right even when they are wrong. And phone manners are HUGE! Time to find a new company... read more

I was extremely impressed by his level of attentiveness. Ron had a mishap with our old asphalt driveway (curb was torn up a little with his truck while backing in), but he brought out bags of asphalt for repairs that I'll now handle. Not a knock on Ron as it happens, but we're just trying to keep the driveway decent for as long as is possible. I was direct on the curb issue, but I was also very cool about it. I received some attitude in return as he suggested that I wanted him to redo our entire driveway. That was unnecessary and a bit disappointing, but I also understand that people have bad days.
