It's been 3 years since my last review. Ultimately it took about 3 months to get my LG battery replaced. Two weeks ago, the replacement battery completely crapped out. Seems like these LG batteries have a 3 year lifespan. I've called Sunrun a half dozen times now. Each time I am told someone will call me back the following day, but no one ever does. Every time I call, the recorded message says the hold time is less than 5 minutes, but I am always on hold at least 20 minutes. I finally got a text message from Sunrun and scheduled an appointment for this Friday 2/16/24 to have someone come out, but they left me a voicemail this morning to cancel. I called the callback number and was told that their record doesn't show any appointment having been scheduled. I complained and was told that Khiler would call me back before the end of day. Of course, I didn't get a call. I realized that Khiler is the person who texted me last time to schedule this appointment, so I texted that number. No reply. Two weeks now and I can't even get Sunrun to come out to look at the battery that we all know is completely dead (status lights all dark, throwing the cut off and breakers does nothing). When they do come out, it'll probably take just a few minutes to tell me that they need to schedule another appointment to replace the battery, and that'll take another huge effort to get done. I ony chose Sunrun because of their Costco partnership, and I completely regret the decision. This is the most unresponsive and dishonest company that I have ever dealt with. read more

This is the absolute worst company i have ever had. System brakes all the time they never have equipment or enough staff with them have been out so many times for repairs already. Equipment is outdated will not upgrade even though i have had service for over 7 years. Always get calls from the saying my system stopped working and they need to send someone out there to fix again. The technicians know the address since they have been here so many times. i leave messages for the supervisor no returned calls. Asked several times to upgrade the system since it has broke so many times. The 1 star reviews all make sense just based on how SunRun solicits. Their salespeople come to my door constantly and I've told them several times that I'm not interested. The guy who has come the last several times ignores my doorbell and just pounds on my door like he's trying to serve a warrant. Today, I was on a work call, so I ignored the first knock. Then he pounded a second time and woke up my sick baby. Ridiculous. I'm sorry for anyone who has actually signed a contract with these guys, but you can tell they're scammy just based on their sales techniques. They always ask me if I know some random name and point to one of my neighbor's houses that I actually do know and BS about their interaction w/ the neighbor to make me think my neighbor is interested. Sunrun has been harassing us for payments even though we are making are payments they won't fix what needs to be fixed I've told them they hooked up to our electrical panel which they shouldn't have that's what Edison said that's why we are not being credited for our NEM production I've made 2 calls they won't come out I have a soft spot in roof I found that there roofers keep missing and our roof is leaking they won't fix it so tired of this company I just want to get rid of them there stressing me out from the harassment and I'm sick I'm supposed to get surgery on my jaw and throat these people don't care about you at all. read more

Zero stars. Sunrun installed the system quickly, and started to collect on my loan quickly. However, 5 months later, the system is not producing electricity, for me anyway. Sunrun blames SCE, but I just discovered that SCE cancelled the project three months ago due to lack of response from Sunrun. Meanwhile, SCE is using the power from my panels. Well, until this weekend, I found the panels' OFF switch. I am one week away from filing suit against Sunrun for my loan payments, and the electricity costs Sunrun promised I would no longer need to pay. read more

Don't walk away from them, we made that mistake. 9 months we waited to get our solar panels put in. 9 months of various customer service people, managers and escalation experts ignoring our requests for updates for days, weeks and even months. Worst customer service ever- dealing with DMV in comparison is like going to Disneyland. That's how bad their customer service is. Spent 5 1/2 hours (my own personal record) on hold on with their customer service line before they hung up on me . . . Other times it was only 2 hours of hold time. . . It's sad that made me happy only waiting that long. 9 months and they had not even gotten the permit approved by the city. They had given a estimate of 3 months max for completion of the project. We finally canceled out contract due to their inability to move forward. We should of moved on from them much sooner, our mistake but don't let it be your mistake. Customer for 11 years. Needed to make roof repairs and started requesting Sunrun in April 2023 to remove/reinstall panels. Panels finally removed September 15, 2023. Asked to reinstall September 18, 2023. Panels still have not been reinstalled. My calls have gone unanswered. When I am able to speak with someone they promised a callback. I was told by Sunrun that the company they used is "terrible." No one can give me an answer. Even went to city to check on permit. Sunrun representatives told me that process was initiated September 18. The city verified that no permit has been requested. Too many lies and misrepresentations from this company. read more

My panels were installed in February 15, 2022, and today, April 12, 2022, nobody came to inspect so my panel is not operation. But I start paying my sunrun bill on april 15, 2022. Meanwhile, my customer specialist says nothing he can do to get the inspection to come over to my house, because he put in a request already. I didn't sign up to pay double-- my utility bill and my sunrun bill. So far, it has been a nightmare. As of 2/19/2020 We still haven't heard from Sunrun or my sales rep regarding my cash card that was promised. We also went to Costco to speak to a manager and was told that their corporate has nothing on file from Sunrun regarding my cash card. I was also told that Costco has stopped partnering with Sunrun because of issues and customer complaints like mine. So as of 2/16/2020 still nothing from Sunrun. Sunrun stated here on my review that someone would contact me. They emailed once, I replied with information they asked for waited a couple of days and nothing so I then called the lady on the email and left information on VM and have yet to hear back from anyone. Save yourself the headaches and use another company. One that cares about their customers and not just the final sa Everything went well until our promised 10% gift card for materials never arrived. We have waited over 4 months for our 600 dollars and have yet to hear anything about it. We have contacted the rep about 20 times now as well as spoken to other SunRun reps in Costco and Home Depot and all they do is send us back to our original rep that hasn't done anything. Worked with TJ (406) 439-3622 who unfortunately turned out to be a Sun Run fraud. Convinces people to sign contract with promises of $1 payment for first six months of solar. Once the contract is signed he disappears and the $1 piece turns out to be a lie. He does not respond to requests for assistance. Do not sign contracts with him. MAJOR FRAUD!!! Best option if you've already signed the PPA is to shut off the solar and rely on the local energy provider. If you have not signed a contract yet, consider yourself lucky. Don't sign, ever! Sunrun, particularly Vivint, who is owned by Sunrun is potentially one of worst company I ever encounter. A lot of roofer in the business will tell you Sunrun is a bad company, the reasons various and numerous. Communication is awful when it comes done to own their mistake. Briefly, we had an install and during the process they literally destroyed the roof, breaking around 160 tiles for only 8 solar panels installed hahaha. I'm NOT kidding! It's a true story. Damages are beyond what you would have thought possible. You would assume solar companies to be versatile when we talk roof! Right? Our Existing Tiles are light weight and delicate and shouldn't have been process that way, or not have solar panels installed at all. plus those tiles aren't manufactured any more. I know crazy right!?. What's deal? Now It means that an entire side of the roof must be replaced, I want to remind you they installed only 8 panels on my roof. They have to rebuild that side over 800sf of roof. Crazy!! Obviously a year later nothing is repaired, They admitted wrong doing, still nothing is move forward. It's a nightmare AND we are leasing the panels haha. HAHAAHHHHHHHHH The worst company to be recommended. Their communication is zero, null, you wonder if they are in business. Sunrun has the worse customer service ever! I was trying to lower my electric bill and order solar panels! But when they were installed, nobody called and said they were working. For the first 3 months my system was underperforming. I was still getting large bills from Edison and my Sunrun bill as well which is $297 a month. Sunrun owes me $496.38 that was billed by Edison. I was getting double billed. I called them to get my bill corrected, but I could never get a Manager on the phone. I filled out there survey on how they were doing. A person called and promised to have a Manager respond to my problem and adjust my bill. I tried calling again and was on phone for over 2 hours listening to music. They said press a button and they would call u back in the order of the call. They called me the next day and nobody was on the phone. Back to the same music! Don't do business with them, THEY will Lie to U! I'am a senior and still no response! read more

I have been trying to reach someone that can help me with the warranty, they tell me "someone" aka a manager will call me, and so far crickets. I have called no less than 6 times in the last 3 weeks. I never give bad reviews - but after many attempts to fix this system. They just kinda left me in the dark. We were having problems with production they sent a nice guy out to test it and he showed me what needed to be done etc trim tree etc. this was a year ago...but I have reduced power usage almost in half and I'm still going to have a 3,000.00 bill from Edison at the end of the year - please address my concerns and I will change this to a great review. Update : 10/10/19 Victoria was the first sales person that helped me promptly I raised my 1 star to 4 stars just for that but that extra star not being given is still I have not heard back from a tech that came out to measure the output etc. they also would come unannounced. The original salesman sold me enough panels to cover my usage which has reduced since then. So the panels should cover my usage. read more

We pulled the trigger to go solar on our new home in Yorba Linda after we saw SUNRUN at Costco. We figured we'd be set since it was there. Everything went fine until our installation process. The install team had issues and almost installed panels onto my neighbors roofline. If i hadn't have come out i would have been screwed. Then they had issues with the inspector and inspection process. We were nearly paying our first loan payment on the system and the city finally gave them the green light to turn it on. After we turned on the system it was found that our battery was having issues. Multiple calls to the install coordinators and management would not expedite the issue we were having. It took our sales rep to finally come out and verify the problem. 2 weeks later we had a tech come out and deem the entire battery was faulty and non-operational. We waited close to a month and hadn't heard anything from anyone. After i emailed the CEO, CFO and other executive management teams, we finally had someone come out and get us a battery swap. Then we noticed our energy being produced was low. Turns out that 13 of the 23 panels were connected. This was found 5 months into our system "being operational." We were comped 2 months of loan payments for the mishap but feel like if i hadnt of gone to the executive team we would be in the Same spot. Multiple emails were sent recently to make our service right with no reply. DO NOT USE SUNRUN THROUGH COSTCO. We are new customers and can only imagine how much worse our customer service will be in years to come. read more

I've had my system for about 15 months and can now comment on all aspects of the experience. I purchased this system through Costco thinking that they would only partner with good reputable companies with good customer service. I'm now experiencing life after the sales pitch. Here's what you'll experience: During the sales pitch - they sell you on all sorts of things like their panels, warranties, etc. they'll aim for an 80% production of your yearly power needs (based on bills you provide from your power company). They'll tell you that any service need is just a phone call or even an app away. For the most part, their panels produce what they estimate. Installation and getting you up and running was fairly trivial and on schedule. Once your power company gives you the go ahead - it's up to you to turn on all the switches. A little strange but so far so good. Where the experience breaks down is after the system goes live. Their app is so basic it will only be able to show you your production - primarily. The app does not have functionality to notify you of any faults, or notify of any event that would cause non-production. The app can't even remember your login user name - even though there's a check box for it. When an issue comes up and they need to send a technician - expect at least a 5 business day wait. As is the case with me- my system has not been operational for 10 days now and it will be another 5 days before they can even look at it. Requesting customer help through the app is a non starter as they won't acknowledge requests. Calling in is a game of phone tag where they pass you from rep to rep. Once you get a dispatcher to schedule you- it's very matter of fact. I had the dispatcher tell me It was not their problem to monitor the system and that I could purchase third party services to do so. Bottom line, I'm not feeling the love promised during the pitch and feels very much bait and switch. Once they solve my problem, I'll update the review and rating accordingly - but for now their customer experience FAILS miser Update: taking this down to one star. Just found out that the Solar Edge inverter shorted and hasn't been functioning and will take another 10 days to replace. All this time without production (5 weeks total). I also learned that because I 'purchased' my system through Costco - there is no monitoring offered. BUYER BEWARE. I can't believe Costco does business with this company. read more

Stay away from Sun Run solar panels. We started the process in summer 2021. We did not get our system in until Nov. 2021. They did not pass inspection the first time. We found out our system had not been working a month later. We have had two tech guys come out and neither was able to fix the problem! I now  have to wait another week for them to schedule an appointment. I have sent three emails to their OC supervisor Delen Landquist and he has not called or emailed me back. I just called customer service and they REFUSED to let me speak to a supervisor. Terrible customer service, terrible tech support!!! Run away and do not use this company. A Sunrun rep, Dan Burghardt came to my home to explain the advantage of going solar and advantage of going through CostCo. All said, it made sense with all CostCo benefits and CostCo points plus tax credit adding up to huge saving! Dan made sure I was well informed and allowed me time to process the decision. From the beginning your company representatives, Tawan Martinez, handled me in a most respectful and courteous manor. The sales people were honest and not pushy. The contract negotiation was straight forward and I was pleased that they were able to compete with the other estimates. One of the most important sales points for your company is your association with Costco, as this reinforced the fact that you are an established, upstanding company. During the design phase, I was very particular about the details and had lists of questions. Drew Franke from the design team was very patient with me and assured me that he would design it to the exact specifications that we wanted. Additionally, we experienced an unexpected family emergency further pushing back our install date. Again, Drew was very understanding and accommodating which was an enormous relief to not have to worry about juggling family and the solar install. When the workers did arrive to start the job, I was very surprised and pleased at their professionalism, friendly attitude and demeanor. I have had numerous experiences where workers have an arrogance which I have found to be off-putting and inappropriate. Joe, the head electrician/foreman was very knowledgeable, very personable and great at answering my questions. It was a pleasure having them working on my house. I even felt completely comfortable leaving them with access to the house and my dogs even I wasn't home. Thanks to Josh, Russell and Mike. Solar systems are a huge investment. When designed and installed correctly, I am certain that the system will pay for itself in the future. I have been extremely happy with my relationship with REC solar. Even now that the install is complete, Drew continues to go out of his way to answer my seemingly endless questions and guide me through continuing to learn about solar energy and setting up the Enphase monitoring. Now they tell me I can pay off my PPA contract at a rate of $85,000 - less than one year into the agreement. IF I have sell my house - it will also cost me $85K . And if I attempt to "buy" my PPA contract in 5 years ..... IT WILL STILL COST ME $85K. They say I have to purchase the solar in advance from them. This is seriously the biggest bait and switch contract/company. My salesman name is Chris Fluery. He totally led me astray - all to make his quotas. II Had a great experience with Sunrun! I was reluctant to lease a solar system for about two years after the purchase of my condo. I was suspicious and thought there would be some type of catch or hidden thing that would make me regret pulling the trigger and getting a solar system for my home. I also didn't like the ascetics of some of the solar systems that I had seen. Luckily I lived next door to my awesome solar sales person Kendra. She had sold several systems to my neighbors and after a couple years all of them were still very happy with their solar systems. Kendra had answers for every one of my concerns and even helped me design my solar system so that it couldn't be seen from the street or affect the curb appeal of my home in a negative way. Actually Kendra helped me with one of the most important upgrades that I have purchased for my house so far. I ended up needing to replace my roof. After several estimates I was more confused than ever. I told Kendra what was going on when she mentioned that she worked with roofing contractors quite often. So I asked her to setup an estimate through Sunrun when the price came back it was extremely affordable especially when I added in the cost of the electrical panel that Sunrun was going to replace for me (mine was from 1956). At the end of the day I ended up purchasing a new roof for my home at a great price, replacing the main circuit breaker for my house that was over 60 years old and upgrading to solar power. The installation was handled quickly and professionally, the system looks great and I saved a ton of money. I can honestly say I got a great deal. I saved money, my house looks great and I got rid of a dangerous antiquated electrical panel that any electrician would have charged me a fortune to upgrade. My system has been underperforming for over a year per my contract. They state they are "waiting on parts". I'm supposed to be reimbursed if my system fails to meet its guarantted production minimum. My assigned customer service rep has changed 3X in the past year. The last rep said they will caculate any reimbursement once its been fixed and they are still waiting on parts for a year now. We signed with Verengo. SUNRUN bought them out I believe. We have had our system for several years. Our safety signs, which are required, have been completely bleached by the sun so that they are just white squares that are not legible anymore. I have been in contact with SUNRUN "customer service " a couple of times to have the signs replaced. I was asked to send photos of them. They responded with, "the signs don't fade. You painted them." I did not paint them. Perhaps the materials Verengo used do fade. I'm just trying to replace the plastic warning signs and they will not service even those. I can't imagine what will happen if the equipment breaks down. They had a technician come out and change my meter (which I found out by my dog barking). I pointed the signs out to him and he said he would tell the office. Nothing. Crickets. This went on for a couple of months and I finally gave up. I hope no one gets electrocuted because I have all the details of my attempts to get them to replace the signs. read more

My wife and I both agreed that SunRun was the best company to work with because Don Poole (our rep) was the most knowledge and no pressure tactics. We bought our system thru Sungevity which was taken over by SunRun. It's been 6 years and as we prepaid a lease, the company must provide service for free. So far they have replaced two inverters at no charge. They are on top of it and keeping our system up. The system has paid for itself within three years and when our lease is up they will take it down cost free. Currently our energy costs are next to nothing. SunRun stands by their products and customers and what is even more impressive is that we originated from sungevity. Supper happy. Great workers. Honest, professional and clean. Sun Run is the worst idea there is always a catch with this company they have you sign a contract the same day you talk to a sells rep and if you change your mind you have to send in a cancellation letter when nothing has been done don't fall for the lease idea either either way you end up paying for the solar after the 25 years is up sun run is exactly that run.
