When I opened the door, and waited for him to say something without reply, I finally said, "Yes?" He looked at me as if I had interrupted his important meeting, then said, something to the effect of "People have no manners anymore." You surely need a more proper rep than "Jason", Sunrun. I am writing this review on behalf of my elderly stepfather and mother in Plymouth, MA. The process of dealing with Sunrun has been difficult for them from the start. Many Sunrun blunders have occurred, but most importantly they have a signed contract for 21 solar panels and 2 inverters. They have only received 20 solar panels and 1 inverter. The installers are just there to install, so my stepfather called the company immediately and was told they would look into it but received only an apology from an unknowledgeable customer service agent. He has called on several occasions thereafter just getting the run around, "a we'll look into it" continuous response, and STILL NO answers! The panels were installed on May 12th 2022 and here it is Sept 29th 2022 and they have gotten ZERO results. Make this right, Sunrun!! read more

If I could leave negative stars I would. My solar has not been working since mid March 22 and it took then until mid June to even send someone here without prior notice BTW. It was not repaired as I was informed a couple weeks later and here I sit today with a no show for another appointment. Customer care center is useless and no response to email I sent to a "manager". I got this system under Vicente who were great SunRiun is horrible. 4 months had not only cost me $$ but also a significant amount of time trying to get these folks to resolve. DO NOT USE. Everything up to this week has been a 5 Star experience! Steve is now a friend and I am sure will be a superstar for any company he works for. He guided us thru the entire installation and we are very happy with the panels! Now wanted an Equity Line but had to deal with Vivint "Filings" department. No phone, doesn't respond to emails, and 50+ minute wait times for customer service. VIVINT needs to process a document for me to get another loan on my home... very standard request... horrible system to get this from them. Run away! Sunrun is the absolute WORST. I would leave negative stars if possible. Customer service is a frontline defense to prevent customers from speaking to anyone in a position of authority who can get the work done! I have been waiting over two months for a reinstall after getting a roof replacement and I am honestly afraid that Sunrun has no intention of ever completing this project. They keep blaming the City of Boston for permit delays but I check in with the City regularly and Sunrun has not applied for any permits for my residence! When they aren't lying to me about the permit and placing blame elsewhere, they claim the project is with their "design" department but no design is needed - it's the exact same array going onto the same but newer roof. I've wasted hours on the phone talking to very polite but ineffectual customer service people who have no authority or ability to direct me to anyone who can move the project forward. More than once I've been told I'd get a call back and I don't and more than once, they've asked to put me on hold and then simply hung up. In fairness, the local ground crew who unistalled my array were EXCELLENT - polite, efficient, just all around good people. Folks answering the phones in Utah or CA or wherever they are, are very polite and completely feckless. I can only blame management - which is either toxic, inept or both. "Project managers" of which there has been more than one, disappeared and are unreacheable. Despite my pleas, there is no way to speak directly with the "design" team or the people who have supposedly applied for municipal permits. I have contacted my AG but every day that the array sits on the ground, I lose money - and the planet loses, too. I originally leased the system and purchasing it from Sunrun was also a hair-raisingly stressful proposition. If you like horror movies, Sunrun is the way to go but if you value your time, money, and sanity, run far, far away from Sunrun. read more

From the initial presentation by Joe N., of what to expect from solar energy, to the actual installation of the solar panels managed by Scott, everything went extremely well. In my particular circumstance, there was a large tree that had to be removed to allow the maximum amount of sun to charge the panels. A few weeks after first meeting with Joe, the tree was removed by a local company, Walnut Tree Service. They have an excellent reputation and did an amazing job. A few days later, the new roof was installed with the style and color of shingles I selected, on the entire house rather than just the roof the panels were to be installed. The only criticism regarding the roof installation is the contractors used a white drip edge rather than brown. All of the trim on the house is brown. Two days later that same week, Scott and his crew came to install the 37 panels and complete the electrical work. The tie in to my existing circuit breaker box and equipment installed on the exterior of the house looks like a work of art. It appears very well thought out and neatly installed. Since this project was done mid November 2023, I have requested from Sunrun Customer Coordinator Kacee that the final inspection by the town and National Grid be put on hold until early spring to allow for my holiday travel and for maximum benefit of the solar panels as I begin this 25 year contract with Sunrun. I have seen the on line reviews which are overwhelmingly negative regarding this company and its customer service. So far I have been extremely impressed with their performance but will have to reserve final review until the system is up and running in the spring. CUT TO THE CHASE- I will initially pay 280.00 a month for the first year to Sunrun then it will increase 3.5% every year for the next 25 years ending at 660.00 monthly payment. Taking into account the roof replacement value , year 1 would be 210.00 and year 25 would be 590.00/month. I am keeping my fingers crossed this project and energy savings is what I have been led to believe it will be. Stay Tuned!! read more

This goes back over ten (10) months. At the beginning I got several calls from the local representative, finally we set an appointment which involved a tour of our property (in September 2019), listening to a lengthy presentation, and finally connecting with his counterpart in Utah. I was pushed to sign a contract so they could have a site person come out and evaluate the property. This contract was suppose to include several points that the local rep promised but somehow forgot or changed their minds, even after a signed the contract. These points involved removing an older active solar system (four panels and two storage tanks, 80 gallon each, tree removal to allow better sunlight, improved electrical panel to accomidate this new system, new roof, and disposal of all waste material). Also in the contract, we were suppose to be charged $181 per month, going up 2-3% every single year for 20 years. The only update to this initial contract was the monthly cost, which is neat tucked away in the last few pages of a length 40 page contact. Nothing we talked about was ever entered into this contract. When I finally started to review the contract word for word, several things were left out, and the rate was over $205 per month, also going up 2-3% per year for 20 years. When I contacted the Vivant Solar HQ in Utah, I was bounced around from one person to another, I have names and numbers if anyone needs to check. We are now at 10 months, and everyone I talk with at their HQ is the same, please forward all correspondent between myself and the previous reps, so they can come up to date, so NO RECORDS were ever kept on our discussion or updates by Vivint. Also, they decided to refuse to disconnect the existing unit, which would involve a plumber for about 3-5 hours. Initially they were going to have a plumber quote the job before moving forward, lastly they decided I had to find my own plumber and they might consider the charge, but absolutely refused to put this in writing. They surprised me in December 2019, when I got a call that a electrician was going to show up the next day to do the electrical work. I contacted the local rep and he said they were ready with the design and all. I told him to modify the contract to reflect everything we have agreed upon, I did document all of this and sent him a copy of my notes, he never denied the notes. Starting the work would tie me into this contract for 20 years, so I refused to let the electrician start the work, THIS WAS THE BEST MOVE ON MY PART. Once work begins, I cannot get out of the contract, so obviously they wanted to get going as soon as they could based on the initial contract. They are so smooth!!!! As far as I know, Vivint Solar is not BBB accredited and has a warning alert of Government Action on their page, as well as 813 filed customer complaints over the last 3 years.  I could go on and one about the way they stretched the truth at Vivint. I honestly believe that they all take a course in stretching the truth. Each person needs to make up their own minds about Vivint, but I would caution ANYONE considering Vivint to get every single point in writing and have a contract notarized from them. I personally would never recommend them, especially with the way they change their stories from day to day. I told them from day one, this would not be a typical project and the local rep and his co-partner in Utah had no problem and wanted to move forward. Everyone should make up their own minds, but if you blink even once, you can be paying more than expected and not get what you had agreed upon with these people. And once you get them into a corner, they just tell you that the contract has been cancelled and your account closed, never giving consideration for months of wasted time. I am now working with another company, that is completely different from the two faced people at Vivant. I am just presenting my experience and letting people know the type of people that they will be dealing with at Vivint, a twenty (20) year contract is a long time, make sure of what you sign and expect, DO NOT put any stock in their sales pitch. They force you to auto pay and when you don't and send a check a week before the payment is due, that call you every day saying you owe them 20 days after the due date because they did not apply your payment to your account but still cashed the check and tell you to prove that you payed them. Plus on install they broke a whole pallets worth of tile that I had to fight them to fix and some of the ones they broke on the peak of my roof they siliconed back together but left gaps in the silicone. Horrible customer service that they outsource and the people that you talk to have no clue about anything except what is on the screen I front of them. The time and energy I have wasted in trying to get to get in touch with them or have any fixed is inexcusable. If we could get out of our contract we would. We recently had to get our roof done and they never pulled the right permits to remove the panels and have they tried to fix the situation no. I need my roof replaced. When I leased the system in 2010 they installed it on a 15 year old roof. I asked at the time what happens if I need to replace the roof. I was told that it would be a half day to remove it and a half day to reinstall. Now my roof is 28 years old and needs to be replaced. I've been trying for 10 days to get a price for removal and replacement and haven't heard back. I contacted 2 different independent companies and was quoted $7,000 to $14,000. I haven't saved anything near that amount in 13 years on electricity. I asked how much it would cost to buy out the lease and throw them away. In the original contract there were set prices per year but here's the kicker....it says "or fair market value." I asked what that price would be. They got back to me for that. The contract called for $4,014 at this point. They called me and said that the "fair market value " is $11,400!! Again, I'll never save that much in electricity during the entire 20 year contract. This isn't the first problem I've had with them just the most recent. Stay as far away from them as possible. read more

Worst experience, which isn't even done yet. Permit approved 8/2020. Week before Labor Day tore up for conduit installation, left all the big slabs of debris left on property for several weeks which was a safety hazard for my children. Contractor insulting, poor quality, caused a great deal of damage that I'm still fighting to get repairs completed. Sales rep great. Tyler regional, waste of time, Arty Gendreau Electrical staff is the cause of all these problems. They are contractors who still have not repaired the list provided over 60days ago. Now we found the wire that was cut we couldn't find the live side. We found it on 12/5/20 while shoveling, so unsafe! Can't disconnect because same breaker as fridge. Corporate headquarters Vivint is in Utah so far have been no help since BBB complaint was filed on 12/1/2020. Do Not Use This Company! read more

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR SUNRUN. I was given wrong information my my salesperson and if I had the information I have now, I would never have signed up. I filed a Misinformation By Sales Representative form A MONTH AGO and was told I would have a response in 5-7 business days. On the 8th day I reached out to the case manager just to find out my case was given to a new case manager which again was 5-7 business day response. Guess what, no response yet! I own a 3 family with 4 meters and my salesperson said the solar would cover the entire property and it absolutely does not, so I'm paying more money than I was before having solar installed. Better yet, and this is my favorite, Sunrun sent a document for one of my tenants to sign when they're not the property owner or account owner, and if I was given the document I would have stopped pursuing Sunrun as a whole as it proved the solar would not be applied to the whole property. How could a "reputable" company 1 give false information, 2 send a document to someone that's not the property owner, 3 follow through with the installation, and 4 take over a month to get in contact with me? I want these panels OFF my property immediately. read more

Absolutely horrible company. DO NOT use them under any circumstances. First billing cycle they took the billed money out of my account twice. I noticed the same day the money was withdraw and notified Vivint and asked that they refund the extra money that was taken out. They refused and insisted that they just hold the extra money and apply it as a credit for future bills. When I explained that does not work for me and I need the money that was accidently taken from my account and again asked for the extra money to be the returned, Vivint Solar instead sent me an email blaming me for the issue and flatly refusing to return the additional money they took. Worst customer service in my life. Apparently, they just don't care. Our newly installed system wasn't producing power for over a month. It took another month, lots of calls, email, and many broken promises from Vivint Solar to get it fixed. Part of the problem was that, although they have a contractual obligation to maintain and operate the system, they were not monitoring it ... at all. That's just a high-level view of one problem. It also took very long to get this system designed. And a long time to get it installed. And a long time to get it turned on. Currently, their web site isn't working and hasn't been for a week and a half. I've called 3 times, written email, sent feedback, all to no avail. Not only can't I get it fixed, I can't even get a straight answer about what's wrong. Here's the bottom line - your system might work, but if it doesn't you are out of luck. read more

He explained everything to us thoroughly and the installation was a snap! We started saving money immediately and unbeknownst became the first of several houses on our street to go green! I am so disappointed with the customer service of this company. I have been waiting 3 weeks for a "manager" to call me with an explanation. When I purchased my house, the panels were already installed and I decided to keep them. For some reason I can't seem to ever get my bill statement regularly and every time I call they can't find my account number or I have to get transferred multiple times to different departments and explain my story all over again. There seems to always be a problem. Every few days, I have to step away from my own job (they're open the same hours I work) and wait on hold for 30 minutes only to get told the same story and waste my time. The stress of me having to chase them just to pay my bill has been going on since MAY! The last time I called, I was almost in tears in fear that this would hurt my credit, and I was promised I would get a returned phone call. This was three weeks ago and I still have not received a call back. I have never had this issue with any other bill! I would NOT recommend these panels. It is almost October and they still haven't given me any solution, I hope there is a way out of this contract. read more

Only giving one star because I HAVE to in order to leave a review - I was getting a package off my porch just now and there was a Vivint rep out in front of my house (plus two others hovering down the street). He asked, "Are you Barbara?" It looked like he was pulling up info about who lived at each address on his iPad. Um - super SUPER creepy, especially as I was home alone at the time. Not to mention that he had a face mask that was pulled down completely down and dangling off his chin. So many people are working from home these days that interruptions / door to door solicitation is absolutely NOT appropriate - and if you are interacting with the public, WEAR YOUR &*$#%^ MASK! I've now been on hold to talk to someone in customer service about this for over an hour, and was going to live chat on their website but you have to give a phone number and email to do that. Nope! Or, I can email them - again, nope! No way am I giving them any contact info. There are so many things wrong with this scenario that I don't think I would EVER consider them for any reason whatsoever. AVOID at all costs. read more

This company installed solar panels on our roof on 9/9/14. They are still not connected and customer service is very poor. When we call they give no answers. With the cost of electricity we have lost a lot of money in 7 months and had we known this we would have gone with another company. I do not recommend this company at all! read more
