    Snacks 4/26/23

Around this area and want to see if I can find new snacks. This store is selling fruits, vegetables, frozen food, snacks and etc. It's not a big store and the pathway is so narrow. But I found something new which is the lemon tea jelly. If you like vita lemon tea drink then this one is very similar. I love it so much!!! I definitely will go back and get more. Yep! ^^,

    What I paid $9.99.

Small Asian market with various vegetables, meats, fish and dried products. The market is lack of organized. Products are in wrong places and without price on each items. I bought a Polemo yesterday without price tag but it was at the box with price tag of $5.99 each. But I found out today that they charged me $9.99. What a rip-off. I know that I can't go back to argue the price but I learned. Check the price before leave and keep your calculations before checkout. I know it's hard because there aren't price on each item.

I visited this store more regularly than ranch 99 when I lived closer to it. They're always introducing new seasonal items to the store and you'll have to ask to join their "group" on WeChat in order to get the latest arrivals. I liked their seafood selection most and the people working there are usually very friendly. They also offer Uni for sale sometimes.

Credit cards accepted. Purchase over a certain amount and they can deliver groceries for free to you. Check their website for delivery locations and day of week. Not bad at all for a very small Cantonese-Chinese local grocery market. From vegetables and fruits, to cooking ingredients and meats, they pretty much have it covered here. Huge selections in the frozen sections too. Not huge, but very decent and prices were incredibly cheaper than most other similar places. It is loaded with lots of Hong Kong style snacks and more. Free 1-hour street parking is all along the front side, especially on a Sunday morning after 10:30 AM. Definitely check them out if you're in the area. You cannot get cheaper snacks elsewhere around the SF Bay Area. You can easily find little snacks for much under $5 each. $1.99-$4.69 is a very good price range for snacks. $8.99 for instant breakfast package and sauces for under $4 can also be found inside. $1.99 per pack of flavorful spicy garlic peanuts are available if you are a snacker. Chinese Ramen is considered cheap in prices here. Take your time to look around. I like the selection of biscuits and cookies too. 99 Ranch and other larger chains charge $5-$6 for most snacks now. Flavors are very good and not all the flavors of potato chips here can be easily found in Hong Kong either. We asked family members in Hong Kong and they said the same. There are some unique potato chip flavors here. This grocery store have their own good selections. We will buy other items next time. Absolutely satisfied.

This is a small Asian market in the Millbrae business district. There is a group of striking Asian figurines near the cashier, including beckoning cats. There is a large selection of Asian snacks. There is a good selection of Japanese mocha and bean cakes here-- be sure to get one to go ! The drinks are plentiful here, including coffee and canned porridge. Makegeolli, sake, and other classic alcoholic drinks are available here. There is a probiotic yogurt from Japan that is similar to Yakult but is cheaper.

What a strange, strange Safeway…read more The highlight of the place is that the first level of the building is the parking level. The only part of the "store" on this level is the staircase and elevator. Otherwise, I think the store takes up the entirety of the second floor. The elevator has a huge car that can fit many people and shopping carts, but it took a long time, both to be called and to move, when I was coming and going. It was only when I left that I noticed that there are actually two entrances: the one I used near the middle of the parking lot and the one farther north. When you come up from the central stairs/elevator, it's as if you're inside any other Bay Area Safeway. Besides customer service being right next to this entrance, nothing else would alert you that you've floating over all this parking. Like almost every other Bay Area Safeway, the layout is both familiar and slightly different. You'll generally find the bakery and produce sections on opposite sides, but beyond that, everything is just so. In this store's case, all the cheese is in a regular refrigerated aisle; in most stores, it's along the back wall. It's one of the few Safeway stores that hasn't added local street names to its aisles. That was cute at first, but now that seemingly every Safeway (and at least one Vons in SoCal) has that--and some of the names are misspelled or have the wrong street type--I'm over it. Aisle 3 can just be aisle 3. It doesn't have to double as El Camino Real. I was shocked at how few people were in the store on a Saturday night. Because of this, I barely had to wait in line for checkout, and I was downstairs at my car pretty quick. The checker did a pretty poor job of bagging, but it wasn't atrocious, just wrong. I happened to be returning some canned goods here when I came. When I got to customer service, a woman was arguing her point about some discount she received in addition to WIC or some other need-based debit card. Two different customer-service people were standing there listening to her argument, and even after they had each explained to her three times the different options for resolving her issue, she continued to argue. That's fine, more power to her, but I don't understand why one of the customer-service people couldn't start providing me with customer service. When I finally did speak to the younger person, she didn't know whether they would accept my return, and she had to wait for the other person to confirm that they wouldn't accept my return. For some reason, Safeway doesn't accept returns after thirty days, even with a receipt. These were canned goods that didn't expire until 2028, but a policy is a policy, I guess. I ended up leaving the cans there, because I didn't want them. When I left the store about a half-hour later, the cans were still sitting on the customer-service counter, untouched.

Last visit I ordered chicken breast and got chicken breast with rib meat which has happened a few times and I finally spoke up since that is not what I'm purchasing. But today was by far the worst experience from customer service there personally and over the phone. I placed an order for 85$ at 130pm. ETA was 3-4pm at 256 I got the alert it was ready. I showed up and they said the new girl messed up and needed and extra 20 mins. An hour later and we're like where are our groceries. Another girl said let me go get it only to comeback and say the "new girl" gave it away. Now I have been on the phone for over an hour trying to get them to fix my order again. And all they want to tell me is I will get a refund and to wait 7-10 business days. How does that make sense? Why do I need to wait for my money when all I wanted was my groceries. Guy on the phone said it's beyond his control whether my kids have something to eat dinner with or not. He said Safeway Millbrae isn't answering and he is not representing them. Wild! So wild! I guess for a service that's supposed to be convenient they are not. Just get out and get your own groceries and avoid dumb people giving away your food. I legit wasted 4 hours waiting to get an order than no one wanted to take responsibility for messing up.

Their candies/chocolates/cookies/breads are all very good in selections and prices. Amazing. Affordable. Some items are much cheaper than other places. It's very convenient and successful in the area on Broadway. Fruits and vegetables do stand out. It felt like I'm not in the U.S. for a moment after browsing the aisles. Fresh fresh fresh! All items looked good. Not sure if owner is Russian or European, but it's a unique place for visitors. These markets are more popular in streets of Paris, France and other parts of Europe. I loved the fruit prices and wide selections/so clean and organized with passionate employees enjoying their jobs. Cashier was quick and experienced. Box of $6.99 Russian coconut almond candy was very strong in flavor and coconut/nice! The box itself was beautiful too. Tempting. Chocolates were all outstanding from the box covers. Most quality goodies can be found for under $10 per box/pack. Under $15 range is pretty decent for larger items. Not bad for a good find on Valentine's Day. I'll revisit next time. Great impression so far.

I've had constant issues with…read morethe app. One of my biggest issues & time consuming endeavors was with my Safeway card in 2025. I would scan my Safeway card, nothing would happen & the cashier would have to reset the screen. Checker after checker nobody knew why for months. I'd be waiting there a min. of my life. I literally broke down on one knee with my hands in the air & said I don't know what the problem is. A bagger explained that everything's electronic now so my Safeway card won't work anymore. I discarded it, ever since, I've had to press my phone number into the screen taking up time & exposing myself to germs. At the self-checkout the automated voice asked you to scan your card, geez! On 5/19/25 I get Pre-Made market food at 15:00, when I got home 5-min away. The chicken was rock hard. In 2025 I bought a 12-in package of salami which was a little less expensive than the pre-cut one. Next to it I was charged an even higher price and they the regional manager rep I showed a picture of the display said that this shouldn't even be set up like this virtually knowing I got ripped off from the receipts and picture. In the fall of 2025 I passed by the manager's special rack & got a can of super hot chicken noodle soup. I was shocked that I was charged $8 on a can of soup 50% off. There's an amount of checkers they have that's an issue and buying alcohol I have to wait. I've had multiple issues with buying alcohol & the "ever-changing sales" attached to them. One of the receipts in my picture is regarding a charge for the buy one get one discount. You can tell from the timestamp it was nearing midnight which, means a minimal crew working. I don't like to hold up my fellow patrons or wait anywhere anymore to rectify purchase issues. I tend to want to get in & get out. There is only one item available so I ended up getting charged full price. The day after Thanksgiving I had a hangover & looking for replishment I forget to sign in to get the sale & ended up getting charged $5.49 for a $3.49 on sale orange juice. This is technically my fault, but it goes to show that it's leaving the shopping exp. confusing, time consuming where every shopping exp. we have to stop in the middle of every other product or aisle in order to pull out our phones or might look like one of these mindless sheep where we're constantly looking down on our phone, whether it's on the road or in the grocery store scrolling through pictures & hitting tabs to open up pages. It's dangerous & unnecessary. I've bought the Safeway select ranch for over a decade. I sometimes buy extra. On my B-day as part of a promo I bought 2 extra ones & got stuck with 2 expired ones when in need. This is the first time this has happened with any product & I believe somehow I got sold some soon-to-be expired ranch I wasn't expecting. I spoke with someone who used to be the manager of the Burlingame store and is now so regional manager in Sac. On the over 20-min call I went over all of my issues while sending her pictures so she had everything she needed. At the end she tried to tell me that I could always go up to the service desk to get my refunds if I had any issues and I told her at almost 40 years old I'm tired of wasting my time in that line or waiting for someone to come to that area and go through that process of getting my money back. And I was here writing this complaint in order to get a solution & which I wanted $200 in compensation. She didn't ever contact me afterwards. After rejecting Safeway's response they forwarding my complaint to Sedgwic. I continued to email the POC with current Up-To-Date issues at the same location that had had ripped me off & inconvenienced me, but no reply. Then on 2/./26 I got a call from the rep. with Sedgwick who is a 1/5 star Co. Who deals Workers compensation claims. I've actually dealt with them with such a claim years ago & they're very unprofessional/shady. He told me he only knew of one of my issues & if I had other issues they'd be different claims. It seemed tedious/time-consuming so I didn't proceed with my complaint. This just shows that they don't care maybe because they're mostly still a monopoly in certain areas.
