One of the few true 24/7 places left in Brooklyn! Very convenient for when you have some late night munchies and dont want to get killed by delivery fees. Food is always pretty tasty. Love the smoothies and juices here. All the fruits always taste nice and fresh. Nice arrays of sweets - cheesecakes, cakes, cannolis, and cut up fruits. For the most part, I have been happy with Sunset Bagels on Foster Ave. My biggest beef has to do with the salads and sandwiches! Why is romaine lettuce used for everything? When u can get lettuce on a sandwich, u should be either getting iceberg or choose which green u would like on the sandwich. The same with the salads. Why isn't any other green used for salads??? I begged a guy to give me baby spinach for my salad when I called in an order instead of romaine lettuce. I wish they would just not use romaine lettuce as their only green. Please properly train the "cooks" on how to cook thin pieces of chicken breast!!! It's always dry or burnt!!! The sandwich meat is generous as are the bagels. I've given this location multiple chances, but unfortunately, it continues to disappoint. I've had repeated issues with bagels not being toasted, even after asking several times both in person and through delivery to ensure they are. Despite my requests, I still received untoasted bagels. There have also been issues with vegan cream cheese being mixed with non-vegan options, which is unacceptable for those with dietary restrictions. On my last visit, after I pointed out the bagel wasn't toasted, the manager requested to correct it. However, the employee returned it with an attitude, and I was given a much smaller bagel. I had initially rated this location 4 stars, but due to the rude service and the consistent issue with non-toasted bagels, I've lowered it to 2 stars. That said, there are still one or two long-time female employees who are super pleasant and professional unfortunate the overall service doesn't reflect their standard. They have four other locations from what the counter person told me. The bagels are excellent. They are made at a different location and delivered a few times a day. I usually order a dozen and you get 2 extra with every dozen, one extra with a half dozen. The whitefish spread is very good (I usually get a half pound). They make the cream cheese and lox spread to order. All the smoked fish is from Acme (if you know, you know). Top quality supplier, serving Brooklyn and the other Burroughs for decades. Best kosher fish in New York, in my opinion. I've tried many of the other cream cheese spreads and they're all top shelf. I have never tried any of their prepared sandwiches, so I can't comment on that. They have around 5 or 6 tables if you'd like to dine there. Nice, clean place. The staff is busy and are constantly moving. Every person at the counter taking orders has been very helpful and pleasant. I took one star for some inconsistencies regarding the made to order cream cheese spreads. Everyone seems to have a different ratio of cream cheese to lox. Some overdo it, some underdo it. Horrible food and service. I ordered from grubhub many times last year and it was okay. A few days ago I ordered again after so long and it was horrible. Two of my orders were wrong. I order bagel with plain cream cheese but they put bacon cream cheese in it and I can't eat pork! The cappuccino I ordered was acutally coffee and the home fries looked more like mashed potatoes. They were really nice when I was extremely nervous and took a While to order. The flavor of their food is comforting, wide range, and absolutely delicious. The brownies are the best I've ever had and that's saying something, they are very fudge-like, very chocolatey, but they do have Nuts on top. First of all the service sucks I started calling around 2:30 in the morning with no answer. Just put me on hold. Finally got through at 3:30. I ordered the oatmeal with everything on the side after an hour of waiting the oatmeal came with everything inside, then they didn't want to fix the problem so I had to leave my house and 3:45 because the guy on the phone told me that if I wanted my oatmeal correct that I had to wait another hour and a half when I got there I had to explain to them again how I want my oatmeal. I had to wait 20 more minutes for it to get done when I get to my house. I open the oatmeal and it was the worst oatmeal I've ever gotten from Sunset bagel. It was all watered down horrible service. I'm very disappointed. Also when I opened the jar of oatmeal, it was so hot. I got burned with the heat coming out of the jar. I will be there to speak to a manager about this. This is unacceptable. This spot was one of the very few still open on Doordash. I had another order ready to go from somewhere else and they closed the minute I went to check out so I was left with this place. I'm familiar with the one in Sunset Park and Bay Ridge so I didn't think it'd be an issue. I got their chicken fingers and fries. I figured, how can you mess that up? It was in their "made fresh to order" section as well so I thought I'd be in good hands! My order didn't get paired with a dasher until about 15-20 minutes after they confirmed it. For some reason, even after arriving to pick it up, he was forced to wait even longer because my order somehow wasn't ready. He even sent me a message to let me know he was in fact just waiting for my order to be done because it was taking that long. This gave me high hopes, I genuinely thought to myself.. "wow must be some fresh chicken fingers." So imagine my disappointment when I opened my container up, broke open a chicken finger and saw the same texture of those disgusting things they used to pass off as meat back in elementary school. I could've went to McDonald's and had better tasting food. The fries were tasteless, hard and just blegh. But the real crime was the meat. I can't explain how angry I was at that "chicken." I am not one to give bad reviews, but I've given this place too many chances to redeem themselves and I just can't hold back my thoughts any longer. The food is good and the hours are great. The reason I stop coming back is because the customer service is so bad. I work in customer service and I understand sometimes you could just catch someone on an off day. Nope, the only thing that's consistent about this place is the horrible service. The staff is not nice. Like every single one is always rude or in a terrible mood. I forget about how bad it is because I'll go months without coming back and I ALWAYS regret coming back. It's simple, just be nice!! No business = no money ;) Most recent example: I was placing a pick up order, but then I saw it was a 20 min wait time for a bagel and cream cheese so I figured it would be quicker to order in the store. The price was a $2 difference from seamless. I nicely said to the lady "oh that's weird the price was different online" she completely ignored me. I paid the higher price and kept my mouth shut. This is the part that made me write this negative review. As I am waiting, the male employee next to her was being extremely rude to someone who clearly did not speak English. The customer was pretty clearly pointing at the bagel he wanted. The employee slammed the glass where the bagels were because he was SO irritated at the CUSTOMER who was unable to communicate with words which bagel he wanted.
