{Update Review} After waiting at dealer for 5 hours We found out they broke "brake line". Now parts won't get to the dealer earliest until Tuesday but could be longer. They arranged rental car from Enterprise, Enterprise office is in Puyallup so sunset arranged Uber Ride to there. We own tahoe (7 seats car) and loaner car was only 5 seats. our whole day was wasted and still car wasn't fixed. {Original review} Service department here is garbage. 2 weeks age we scheduled oil change and recall fix. Oil change is 2 hours and recall fix is 1.5 to 2 hours. They said it will take 4 hours. They called in about 2 hours and saying car is ready to pick up. When we pick up the car they didn't mention anything. De we went home and looked paperwork and looks like no recall work is done. My husband called them and person took care of our call called back saying " I was going to tell you but you left already. ". They didn't have bolts to fix the recall. Why they check stock before schedule recall fix. 2 weeks later we rescheduled recall fix. It should only take 2 hours or so. No. They told us it will take all day because they are short staffed. Recall is only change 8 bolts on the wheels. They can't tell us it will take all day when we drop off the car. They need tell us when we make appointments. It is recall fix. They should offer loaner car since it is their fault. But they didn't. Don't buy car from here because service department is so bad. read more

I do think they deserve even a 1 ranking. I bought my GMC Denali truck in Decemeber. I have already had to have it serviced twice due to hearing a loud sound while driving, a water leak inside the cabin and the entertainment screen going black. Same excuse that they can not replicate the problem. Each time they have held on to my truck for a week. This 2nd time, they had my truck for a week, no update calls on progress and no follow up call from the service manager after I requested a return call. The BBB should look at this company and their faulty practices. 1st visit, charged a diagnostic fee, went forward with the recommended service work, totaling over $2,500. Vehicle failed to start 1 week later and issue presisted, engine light then began to flash (this did not occur before our 1st visit). Brought vehicle for 2nd visit with another diagnosis fee was charged. Our vehicle was with the Sumner location for 2 weeks before we received the additional quote for work which was an additional +$3,200. After getting another opinion the quote and suggestion work would not have addressed the original issues on the vehicle. This is a hard review for me. I have purchased multiple cars through sunset. The service department tried to lower my bill as much as they could, however the power train warranty for life, would not cover our car. All of our services where done at sunset Chevrolet. we did every service exactly as and when they said. Our car has a different engine sunset made a mistake on when the spark plugs where supposed to be changed. Although we changed them exactly when they said, it voided the lifetime power train warranty. I struggle with this as they are the professionals, we did everything in good faith.. The service manager did take some responsibility however put some of that back on us, for not reading the owners ,manual. so buyer beware even though the professionals say a certain time for a service it doesn't mean the warranty company is going to cover it. pretty disappointed over all. We have been paying on a truck loan, insurance, and interest payments on a truck we never owned nor have possession of any more. The Washington State Patrol has impounded it and after investigations deemed it stolen. We ARE STILL making payments on the loan, the loan interest and insurance on a VIN we never possessed. I bought a brand new 2025 Chevy equinox which had built-in Wi-Fi. Recently all of my GPS music satellite and OnStar were not working. I called OnStar first they told me that the modular needed to be replaced so I went to the dealership got an appointment they come back telling me it's because you have an iPhone 16 and that I would have to get a hold of GM and make sure my software was updated. Come to find out that wasn't the issue. After going back-and-forth and basically called a liar come to find out that the modular is bad on star tried several times to reach me , and my car would not even get the signal. They had me running all over the place because when I called GM there was not even a case number they gave me a new case number told me to go back to the dealership and have them look at it again. I think the thing that gets me the most is how bothered they seem to be with me when I just wanting it resolve the issue ands use the extras that are part of my car. My safety and convenience . It seems like this dealership specifically they have no problem selling you the vehicle but after that, you're on your own. Dropped off Tahoe with an agent in service department for a recall airbag replacement. Part of protocol is to inspect dash for damage. The agent and I sit in the vehicle and visually inspect dash for no damage. If it was damaged, I assume they would document that. "Tim" the service manager stated there are no notes (and they only inspect the 1 inch around the airbag) So, no damage? More on that later. I return to speak to Service Manager once i discovered it and showed him the shoddy workmanship, significant crack in the dash, plastic parts with broken tabs ,broken plastic parts found on floorboard. He says a dash overlay is the only option, provided a quote for almost $900 assuming we call and schedule at no cost. Also that he can have the broken panels parts plastic welded. I call back a couple months later to schedule. Agent says I'm responsible for the cost of dash but only because I asked. Transfers me to Tim. Tim tells me Tahoes in the South and Internet says it's a common thing to get cracks in the dash, not their problem, took zero responsibility. I'm not in the South and neither has this truck and I don't believe everything on the Internet. Usually I move on and learn my lesson but fiance, mother and sister all purchased vehicles from and USED to get service from there. As I searched for alternative service departments I stumbled upon these relatable reviews here on yelp. When I think of customer service and quality of work issues at any company I look for trends. This service dept is trending down. Not going to return for a 4th time to try to fix the rear defrost cable hanging there either. Last week I had some dealership service performed on my Chevrolet. I brought in a spare OEM key fob and asked if they would program it to my vehicle while it was there. Service advisor Chelsea Garrett informed me that since it was not in my appointment notes I would need a separate appointment. I presented the OEM key fob, she quoted me $40 to have it programmed. Today at my scheduled follow-up appointment I was informed it would be $197 plus tax to program the same key fob. This is a 500% increase over my quote. They now say it's because I didn't purchase the key fob from this dealership. This is nothing new as I had the key fob at my original appointment and they examined it. I had a fantastic experience with true customer service! The ordeal was not pleasant, key fob issues with programming, however the customer service with Jake Bohran was exceptional! He kept me updated the entire time from texts to in person as I waited in the waiting area. Today he sent me off in a loaner due to the length it was taking, a nice loaner a 2020 Chevy Equinox with a full tank. It was refreshing to have such genuine care about what I was going through. And Jake had spoken to his manager from my first key fob replacement and his manager authorized this new key, blade and programming to be complimentary. I think the car sat, was driven by the service manager home, and returned to my mother after she paid $200 for Sunset to replace the EVAP purge valve which GM covered. And I wonder why that valve wasn't replaced when the car went in the first time. We'll never know. One thing is for certain. No one in my family and no one who I can convince will ever do business with Sunset ever again. I am not surprised this happened given the reviews on Yelp. I believe Sunset Chevrolet is both intentionally dishonest and flat out incompetent. I understand my unique circumstances won't apply to 95% of their potential clients but I do think it shows the lack of integrity, care, and overall customer appreciation which any potential client should take into consideration before giving them your business. I live in Arizona. It is currently very hard to find Chevrolet Suburbans and Tahoes. I happened to find one online at Sunset Chevrolet. They were asking $5,000 over MSRP (I hope people take note of all the dealers gouging their clients during these times) but I understood the supply and demand so agreed to make the purchase. I had 5 requirements for the purchase. Black exterior, black interior, captains chairs, cooled seats, and the rear view mirror being a camera. Obviously it's pretty easy to see what the color is, see the seat configuration but most pics won't show if the rear view mirror is a camera or not so I asked my salesperson Doug to please go check in person. Doug comes back and assured me it had a camera for a rear view. After closing the deal I set up for the car to be delivered. Upon delivery I didn't have a single document to say I bought the car, no registration, no temp tag, but most importantly no rear view camera. Doug flat out lied to me. At this point there's not much I can do. I accept I got burned. I'm now 2 months post purchase and I've yet to receive the registration I paid them for with the purchase. After doing all the leg work myself I find out they miscalculated my tax, registration, etc and for me to legally register my car I need to pay the MVD $850. I call them assuming they'll handle it. Nope!!! Apparently their miscalculation is my problem and my expense. They 100% agreed they messed up. However I'm on the hook and they could care less. Stay away from these people. Do yourself a favor, keep driving. The warranty for life is purely a sales tactic. They don't even offer GMAC extended warranty. First Chevy dealer I've ever purchased from that uses strictly some third party you've never heard of before. The sales team is poorly managed. They delivered my brand new truck with missing parts that were specifically called out on the window sticker. Tried to tell me the truck comes as is! This was a brand new vehicle. Eventually I was able to speak with a manager and convince him to do the right thing (although I knew legally they were obligated). They sprayed the bed liner on in-house apparently. Shit job. The bed cover took over a week for them to secure. Have you ever been robbed by a dealer? Well I am here to say I have. No your eyes are not deceiving your; Sunset Chevrolet ROBBED me. Let me start explaining my worst experience car dealership wise and customer service wise. I had the extra me displeasure of dealing with Alvaro and one hell of a shady financier "Jason." Well me and my girlfriend came in there to get a new SUV. After Alvaro tried to push multiple cars on us that we did not want he finally offered us a suitable car after us threatening to leave. Then came the negotiations (they really try to screw you). Alvaro, oh Alvaro tsk tsk tsk. At first Alvaro told us we needed $10,000 down for a $800/month payment, then $3000 down for a $700/month payment, then nothing down and $650/month, and eventually nothing down and $550 a month. This is after 3 hours of telling Alvaro the same thing over and over about our price limitations. So we became the proud owners of a car from the worst dealership you can do business with. HERES WHERE IT GETS GOOD: Fast forward 3 weeks: we get a phone call from a Jason. Jason is a guy who works in the finance department at the worst dealership you can business with. Well, Jason who called at 730 am on a Saturday says, "we could not get any financing (despite being over qualified) and we need the car back ASAP." So, your telling me that you force feed me a car because of my outstanding credit and job standing and now you need it back. Well Jason from the worst car dealership you can do business with them says "yeah, there's nothing we can do, we need the car back and your old one is here." Now mind you, this is after I've tinted the windows, added Onstar, and ordered remote start. So we load up the little one and head to 'the worst dealership you can do business with. After arriving Jason informs us that are car is not there, it's in fact in Lynnwood (yes he lied to us to get us there). Jason also said that there was nothing that he could do reimburse us for upgrades because they washed the car and that counts as them spending money (yes he said that with a straight face). So now they took the blazer we had for weeks, told us they couldn't reimburse us for Tinted windows or anything, and are now telling potential buyers that they had the upgrades installed as a perk. I bought a 2015 Chevy truck with the 6 liter diesel from Sunset Chev, mostly due to the power train warranty for life. The head gasket blew at just over 100,00o miles. No problem, right, as I have the power warranty for life. Wrong! $10,000 bill was not covered due to the fine print in the warranty. Traded in the truck for a new 1500 with the 3.0 liter diesel and the saleman said that they are going with a different warranty company that is far better. Fast forward 100,000 miles on my new truck and my timing chain slipped, with another $10,000 bill...not covered under the warranty because I went over on a couple of my scheduled oil changes, mainly due to Sunset Chev's inabliity to get me in to the shop in a timely fashon. The service dept is great and I realize that this is not their,problem, but I would advise any one not to buy any vehicle from Sunset Chev and expect the warranty to be worth the paper it is written on. read more

Said they were all working on customers vehicles. Even though I purchased the truck and do routine maintenance with them. After purchasing the truck there with their supposed drive train warranty and having all the service done there to protect that warranty, they are now denying the replacement cost for the transmission that failed. Apparently they say one oil change was 2 weeks late during the years of service. Obviously an oil change has nothing to do with the transmission failing! Also, they just serviced the transmission 10,000 mi ago and did not state that there was anything wrong with it or signs of a problem. The service department will act like it's out of their hands and up to the warranty company but not once will they ever suggest or recommend anything that they damn well know that needs done for your vehicle to fulfill the requirement for the warranty company. Also, heads up if you buy a used car with this beloved lifetime warranty, if shit hits the fan with your car, or let's say, your motor blows with less than 100,000 miles on it, unless you have every single record of service prior to you even owning the car, they will absolutely deny you coverage. Doesn't matter if you've followed everything maintenance wise to a T during your ownership. We were specifically told that "if you buy a used vehicle from sunset at age 4 years and 11 months then you have 4 weeks to obtain any and all required 5 year maintenance or your warranty is voided" What gets me the most is that not once, not only single time when we were in for any service and repairs were we suggested any maintenance, not one single time. Also, the warranty was honored several times! In fact, they never even asked for any maintenance records at those visits, didn't even bat an eye until the motor blew. It started with Warranty for Life, Loaner for Life, and Oil changes for life. This was the inducement to purchasing a Kia. Not long afterwards, Kia removed loaner for life, and switched to public transport options (one way--back to your house). The warranty for life is worthless. They curate service records to support denial of claims under the warranty. They refuse to include important details like, "the dipstick showed the car has insufficient oil to support safe operation." When you challenge them to include your feedback, they invite you to speak to the service manager. The car's engine was faulty, burning through oil. Ultimately, this defect led to the failure of the catalytic converter (3K). They refused to acknowledge the link between the engine defect and the damage to the exhaust system. Dishonesty and dissembling were normative. In the end, I purchased a car from another manufacturer. Helpful tips: 1.) When you begin having problems with your Kia (and you will) demand that they include your feedback as part of the service documentation; and 2.) Have a someone come with you to service appointments. You will have a witness who can confirm what they told you; they will deny it later. If you must buy a Kia, please consider buying from anyone other than Sunset. read more

I had an approved torque converter, it failed, they replaced it again and now that the transmission has failed due to faulty parts from sunset they don't want to replace my transmission even though their failed part caused the metal in my transmission. I submitted all my receipts from the work and warranty company claimed they couldn't validate so they will not replace it. Keep in mind this has been all over the last 7 months. Not sure how that process works but they are the receipts I got from the mechanic. They do not help you get resolution or offer solutions. As a previous loyal customer I will never purchase again.
