    Buffalo Chicken Dip.

This isn't a place that has "bar food," it has "bar seafood." My girlfriend and I ate here on two occasions. Kat was our first server and she was excellent on all levels. My Hendrick's Gin martini was perfect. However, the Brie and Bacon Oysters hid the oysters to the point where I could barely taste them. The She Crab Soup was so heavy with cream that I could barely taste the crab. My girlfriend did enjoy her Buffalo Chicken Dip. Our second trip came by her family's invitation. Again, I had an excellent martini. This time, I ordered the Mahi Grilled Sandwich, which was a Reuben without the corned beef and sauerkraut. That was really wonderful. The large piece of mahi mahi was tender and delicious. Other family members enjoyed their angus burgers. None of the food arrived at the same time for everyone, including the drinks. The exterior of the place is nice for dining. Although the interior is air conditioned, it has more of a dormitory dining hall feel. The bathrooms could be cleaner as well.

Sunset has a great sound side view and dock area in OBX. They have a lot of fun drinks with cups that you're able to keep. The food varied, the Brussels sprouts weren't as cooked as we would've liked but the cheese curds and sauce were very good. As for entrees, the pasta and mahi were a hit.

This multi-level spot was on the bay with a tiki bar and lively views. The menu had a Caribbean fare to it for the most part. The service was appreciated, and the food came out promptly. For an appetizer, the Brussel sprouts ($11?) were ordered. They came with a sautéed brown butter, balsamic vinegar, garlic, toasted pine nuts, and parmesan. These were alright. I liked the mix of flavors, mostly the toasted pine nuts and balsamic, but they were not cooked enough. They needed to be a tad crispier. For an entrée, I had the Bayou Cajun redfish ($32?). It came with shrimp, Cajun cream sauce, Pico de Gallo, black beans, and rice. This was a hearty dish. There was a ton of rice and beans that had good flavor with a large red fish filet too. The seasoning and sauce were alright. I thought the sauce needed more of a Cajun flavor to it. I also tried a special that was being offered the night I attended. It was a seafood trio. It consisted of crab meat, scallops, and shrimp with broccolini. It was cooked in a light butter sauce. This was simple and done right. Will I go back? Probably.

The only meal I got a pic of: Tropical Bowl with chicken added. (We ordered with shrimp, but chicken is what we received.)

We enjoyed a delicious dinner and dessert on the deck just before sunset, then walked down the dock to watch the sun slip away. It was lovely. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

What time should 10 of us go to make sure we get a seat?

We arrived just before 6 and were initially told an hour and a half wait. So if you can get there before 5:30, I think you won't have a long wait. We lucked out cause we ended up waiting less than 30 minutes for a table.

    Can you order take out?

    Yes

All of the sushi was very well done, very fresh, and (in terms of visual presentation) overdone in a good way. I definitely recommend their new Spanish mackerel special (3 pieces) as it was superb The appetizers were excellent renditions of usual favorites, and the drunken noodles had a familiar yet uniquely delicious sauce. Can't speak to the environment in the restaurant but we will certainly be back to dine in sometime soon!

Reader, I was wrong - this soup was in fact Thai level spicy. I would go as far as to say it was instrumental in cutting my cold short. Cleared my sinuses up immediately. But the Thai food isn't even the best part about this place. They also serve fresh sushi, and the rice to fish ratio is exactly right, not just a bunch of rice with a little fish in the middle which is my ultimate pet peeve. I ordered a toro roll and not only was the fish super fresh, but the roll was well constructed. Ambiance wise this place is bright, clean and modern. Service was fast and friendly. Truly 10/10, no notes.

We were in the mood for Thai so we drove down to Nags Head for lunch at Single Fin Thai Sushi…read more Our Caramelized Eggplant app was a dud, namely because there was nothing caramelized in the dish. We received about a cup of fried cubes of eggplant with some uncooked cashews thrown on top. I think the promised homemade soy was supposed to form the caramel, but it was MIA. We both tried the Sautéed Thai Basil. My dining companion ordered hers with chicken and not spicy. It was a meh for her and thought the chicken was overcooked to the point of being tough and rubbery. I ordered my meal with tofu and spicy. It was good; spicy enough that I sniffled but not so spicy that I teared up. The tofu seemed like it had probably been marinated and had a nice texture. Service was pleasant enough but not especially attentive. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and was attractively decorated. All in all, Single Fin Thai Sushi rates as a low 3-star restaurant, mainly because of the preparation of my tofu. In fairness, the OBX is not a hotbed for Thai or any other Asian food, so I'm grateful that it's an option.
