Awesome Restaurant! This is my family's traditional restaurant. We go here every time we go to the Outer Banks and it has an awesome variety of adult beverages and they usually let you take the special cup home. The service is awesome as they let you choose between sitting inside the grille or you can sit outside the ocean. The only small downside is that this place is usually insanely popular, so expect seats inside or outside to be loaded with people. read more

As we arrived to OBX kind of late we stopped here for dinner. We started with a Magic Marlin drink that came with a Marlin head cup, (it was good though it could have had a little more alcohol). For entrees the wife had the Chilean Sea Bass served with couscous seasoned with capers and the fish was tender and amazing and I had the Bayou Cajun Redfish with shrimp, Cajun cream sauce and mango pico de gallo with rice and black beans. Both were great with good portions. For dessert we shared a Key Lime Pie which was decadently delicious. The service was a little slow but that's understandable as the place was very busy and we did not have to wait to be seated. (The first restaurant we stopped at had a 45 minute wait!) We were also fortunate to be seated by the windows overlooking the beautiful sunset over the water and views of their lighted dock. We will definitely return next time we're in town. read more

I'm so disappointed in this place, and even more disappointed in myself for not checking the reviews before I went. The service was horrible. No greetings, no introductions, no goodbyes. I asked about an item on the menu, and our server stated she didn't know what it was. Didn't even offer to check for me. The decor inside is severely lacking. It looks like a hotel lobby, not like a beachside restaurant. The food was mediocre, not horrible but nothing to write home about. Definitely not worth the high prices! This place will keep getting business because of its location, but I highly urge you to looK elsewhere. My friends ordered drinks that were average at best and way overpriced. Food - Disgusting... (except the cheese curds) - The salad horrendous, the steak unseasoned, the fries lackluster, the fish, never came so I couldn't tell you. It was a whole ordeal to have it taken off, and then the manager came over and acted like he was doing us a favor. Service - Sickeningly Stupid - No offer of water to start on a very hot day. Drinks took forever and the food too. They seemed under staffed and the servers untrained. After going, a local told me to avoid the place and that it was terrible! Wish I knew that before going. This place is the epitome of what a vacation spot should be. On our way back from Corolla, my mom and I stopped at Sunset Grille & Raw Bar, in Duck. we found two seats at the bar outside and hung out. This is a place where when you order a drink, you get a legit souvenir vessel to drink your drink out of. I do regret not reading all descriptions before settling for the Bushwacker, which came in a ceramic monkey glass, and was mine to keep. My mom ordered a rum and coke. Her drink was served in a keepsake pint glass. After we finished drinking our drinks we decided to order a dozen clams. We watched the sunset, and it was incredible. They have a large dock and deck right on the water, which was breathtaking. We had calamari fries with a curry sauce and shrimp rolls with chili sauce. Then I had fried shrimp, fries, and slaw. It was all wonderful! We came around 4:30 pm and was seated immediately. On our way to Catch our Corolla wild horses excursion and I thought why not just make a day of it and find somewhere closer to Corolla to grab lunch before the tour. So I spotted this restaurant on the water side and it fit the bill, so I pulled in to give it a try. Really great location with some really nice views. We sat upstairs with great window views of the water. Started with their Brussel sprout chips, they separated the sprouts to individual leaves and fried to perfection. Fried cheese curds was also a delight. Clam chowder was a cream based thick New England version which was pretty good A Cobb salad and a order of hog wings to finish it off. My family ate a lovely dinner at the Sunset Grille Restaurant in Duck. NC. We sat outside and had a beautiful view of the sound. For appetizers, we had the Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds, Calamari Fries, and Firecracker Shrimp - all were excellent! For entrees, we had the Baby Back Ribs with Mac and Cheese, Coconut Shrimp with Rice and Broccolini, and a Fried Shrimp platter with French Fries. All of our entrees were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and we enjoyed our dinner! The service was friendly from the hostess who seated us to the waitress serving us. I don't typically write bad reviews, but this esperience warranted one. As soon as we were seated we were overshadowed with rude customer service. When we politely asked to be seated somewhere else where the sun wouldn't be in our eyes we overheard staff speaking negatively about our request. It was all handled with negative attitudes leaving a poor impression of the restaurant. We were there last night with a large party (11 people) and multiple families. What an overall phenomenal experience!! This time we arrived early during the off-peak season and we were seated immediately. This place looks, feels and tastes like a tourist trap. They pump out your meals quickly, which is fine, but the execution is poor. I had a Pina colada that I think was $14 in a small plastic cup that was one of the worst I've had. The food was great however, the waitresss was awful, her name was Lettie. She didn't bother to check up on our table at all. In fact, we never saw her unless she was getting our food.. she left us without service for upwards of 30 minutes and we had to ask another waitress for help. Not only that, but the restaurant was freezing cold and when we asked to turn the temperature up, Lettie made a comment stating that we were only cold because of our drinks. It's worth noting that every single person besides our group was wearing jackets despite it being 70 degrees outside; all she did was turn the fans off and it didn't help. To top that all off, instead of asking how to split the check, she put it all on one and handed it to the oldest looking person in our group. This place is awesome! With some of the best scenery in duck for a sit down restaurant, this place offers an amazing view of the outer banks. My friend and I just wanted to stop by to get a little snack and try it out. And boy were these lobster fries the right choice. The portion was very generous and the food was hot. Everything tasted so fresh and well prepared. Our favorite part was the sauce on top. We both agreed that we needed to know what that was, it was spectacular. The lobster it self could've been a little more chunky and in bigger pieces but it was a deal breakers. It just made it hard to get a good ratio of fry to lobster in some bites. The garlic Parmesan flavor is very hidden because of the strong flavors of the sauce and lobster, which is okay. It makes it so that if you get a fry with no sauce or lobster, it's still very flavorful and delicious. The service here was very generous. Nothing super special but the waitress was very nice and we had a conversation with her. Pricing didn't look too terrible on the menu, it was relatively competitive with the other spots I've been to in Duck. Overall I would recommend trying this place out if you are in Duck and want a scenic dinner with the family. Make sure you sit outside to get that view and definitely don't forget to order the lobster fries!! read more

I ate here on 8/17/24. I ordered a seafood pasta special which was very good. My wife had the crab cakes, which were small, but tasty. The drinks on the other hand were not that good and the waiter forgot my wife's drink. The drink tasted like they just threw some stuff together and added booze and ice.
