Warning! This place charges 18% gratuity on top of your bill. I came in to a moody cashier and ordered two açaí bowls to go. I didn't know they were about to close but the cashier made that clear with the guy behind me. Clearly they were bothered orders were still coming in. Ayy Sunset Juice Cafe, this was not a good first experience at all. I went with two coworkers today who have also never been and we chose to sit outside since there was a nice breeze going. Marion was our server and she was exceptionally nice. The issue, however, was with the food. I ordered the curry chicken salad. It came out rather quickly and although the taste wasn't anything special and there weren't many pieces of chicken in the chicken salad, I was starving so I carried on eating....that was until I landed on a piece of chicken with a curly hair on it. Don't get me wrong, shit happens and sometimes hair ends up in food, I get it. But naturally after seeing that I didn't want to finish the rest of my meal. After I pointed the hair out to the server, she immediately took the plate away, came back shortly with another plate of curry chicken salad and said, "Here's a new plate since I know you didn't finish the other one." Although I appreciated the gesture, the truth is there's absolutely nothing appetizing about eating something (especially a dish like chicken salad) after finding a hair in it. As much as I tried to suck it up and continue eating, I took one bite and put my fork down. The next time she came around, I politely told her that I wasn't able to enjoy the rest of it so she took the plate away. She was definitely nice about it but there was never any real apology. Once we asked for the check I was surprised to see that they had still charged me for the dish. She did bring out a small piece of cheesecake which I guess was there way of trying to rectify the problem but honestly I would've appreciated not paying for a meal that I didn't enjoy more than a small piece of cheesecake. $16 later and unsatisfied, I do not plan to return. read more

This place is nice and new near the bay. Decor is modern, clean, and fresh. For its claim of natural and organic the prices were pretty low. Espresso and macchiato was okay. The breakfast was also average along with the portion. We arrived early before the crowds. The server was smiling and nice. I made a specific request and received the opposite. They were quick to make it right. Could've done without, what looked to be an owner, playing with her hair behind the counter and then serving food... Also the staff looked to be eating around the corner. Our food sat on the counter. Thanks to the Chef in the back for ringing the bell multiple times to get the server attention! In the past the service had been outstanding but they now have a tall lady that has no clue how to serve people. Very rude and now when you order a croissant to eat it with your coffee at the window they dont serve it on a plate.
