The menu had several burritos that looked amazing, and I ended up ordering the Iberian burrito, which came with freshly fried croquettes inside--such a great touch. The portions are hearty and easily large enough to share. We also tried the ham and cheese croissant and the guava and cheese croissant, along with a latte. The coffee tasted good, though it could have been a bit hotter. Everyone in our group found something they loved, from smoothies and empanadas to breakfast sandwiches. While it's definitely on the pricier side for breakfast, it's pretty typical for downtown Miami. Visited Miam Cafe and left very disappointed with the overall experience. There is a sign at the entrance asking guests to wait to be seated, so we did. Unfortunately, no one ever came to greet us, and after waiting for a while, I had to walk to the counter to ask to be seated. The employee apologized and said she hadn't seen us. After we were seated, she brought us menus but explained that when we were ready to order, we would have to return to the counter to place our order ourselves. That was surprising enough, but what really bothered me was seeing a mandatory 15% service charge added to the bill. I have no problem tipping for good service, but automatically charging 15% when customers are expected to get up and place their own orders makes no sense to me. It's another example of the tipping culture getting out of hand. To make matters worse, the food was very expensive and simply wasn't worth the price. Very good experience overall. The food and coffees were rich and flavorful. We had the Miam croissant and the eggs benedict with smoked salmon, poached eggs, and hollandaise, and everything tasted fresh and well balanced. And I was given my plate (the omelette) after 28 minutes and waited another 20 minutes for my boyfriend to receive his burrito.
