We went to this restaurant because of a friend's recommendation. He was right....the views are spectacular! What he didn't tell me is that everyone at your table has to order the same thing. They offer a 3-course, 5-course or 7-course dinner. I wanted 3course, my husband 5-course, and my son and his wife the 7-course dinner. The waiter told us we all had to order the same number...3,5,7... the Chef doesn't allow mixing. We had 4 people who wanted different meals which we now learn isn't allowed. I spent $1,000 on my birthday dinner for a meal that I mostly couldn't eat due to the Chefs requirement that all of us eat the same things. Loved the place but be warned that you and your guests will all be eating the same meal. I will never go back. If it wasn't a $1,000 bill, it would be laughable! read more

We went to dinner for my birthday and were not disappointed. The wait staff was very attentive with two guys on point (Arturo for the WIN). There was a long wait in between dessert and after dinner drinks. The food was excellent overall. The purée and some sort of cheese ball that came with the wagyu was funky. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly and were served with a kalamata olive tapenade and Israeli couscous. The spaghetti with eel and caviar was incredibly rich and awesome. Perfect al dente. My wife didn't like her tartare and octopus due to a strange flavor they had on the plate as a base, I liked it. The scallops were probably the best thing of the prefix menu. They were locally sourced and didn't have the gritty texture scallops tend to have in the states. As good of meal as I think you can expect to have in Cabo area. The set 20-25% tip is a bit much with the alcohol pricing being very expensive (Honig Sav Blan..$149). Getting to the place is a true challenge with one way street and numerous other building and hotels on that loop. read more

View is obviously the highlight here, but this does not mean they can charge rape prices AND serve horrible food. Service was decent, staff were friendly and whatnot, but the food? Absolutely terrible. From the appetizer to main course to dessert, nothing was even good. Their foie gras was a joke, please do not order unless you want to put yourself through a horrible experience. Their truffle pasta was just full of butter, pasta was way over cooked, just bad. You can probably get better pasta from Domino's. Their fish was decent, but the green sauce was so salty it's terrifying, and their mussels were sandy and soaked in butter. Their wagyu? DO NOT DO IT! I took my daughter here for her 30th birthday. It was bad all the way through. I won't go into everything but after 2 large roach's crawled on my wife and another ran across the table I got up and just left Needless to say they gave my money back! But even without the bug problem the food was not what they advertised! No where near a high end restaurant. The food was on par with a cheaper chain restaurant. I would definitely go there another place! The view is good but not any better then 5 or 6 other places such as Nabu, or 4 seasons restaurant or the tow restaurants at "the only one" just to name a few. I just would not recommend read more

Very disappointed! A year ago we discovered this amazing restaurant, therefore on our return trip to Cabo, we brought a large group of 13 to see an amazing place. Knowing that we were a large group, I emailed months in advance to find out the easiest way to handle the reservation. I never received a response back after several attempts. I then ended up making several reservations because the max per table was 6. Upon arriving I was told that they thought the multiple reservations were a mistake and wasn't sure they could accommodate us. After a few moments they were able to seat us at 3 different tables. We were served a specialty drink menu, but was told we needed to use the QR Code for the regular menu (the table next to us had hard bound menus). Server never brought us the QR Code and had to ask several times. Server took 15 minutes to take our drink order, ordered wine. Server brought the wine, but never told our table they were out of the Pino Grigio I ordered and took it upon himself to substitute without asking. Our other two tables were served their food before our food order was taken. Took 25 minutes to get two charcuterie boards. We wanted to stay, but our server was so preoccupied with everything else, but our table, we decided to leave. Upon leaving, we made the discovery about the Pino Grigio and confronted the manager. He was apologetic, but offered no solution to the whole experience. Was such a let down to bring 12 people for such a disappointing experience. My husband and I came here on our first night in Cabo and it was nothing short of amazing. We had made a reservation about a month in advance for premium seating and our table was in the perfect placement. Not only did Mother Nature put on a beautiful show with her sunset, the food and service were just as amazing. Daniel and Greece took such good care of us. We did the vegetarian tasting menu and each dish was beautiful. We didn't leave feeling stuffed, nor were we hungry- we left completely content. The food is obviously not authentic Mexican, but each dish is deliciously curated. The timing between each dish was perfect too. It does get kind of chilly once the sun sets. But, they have blankets at each table. I brought a light cardigan and glad I did. The day we went was especially windy (one of our server's said he's worked here for 6 months and this is the windiest day yet) so we had watch for small garnishes or pieces of food as they would fly away. Glasses that weren't filled to the top would also wobble in the wind. The wind is nothing anyone can control so we made the best of it. I had a flow dress on so I got some full picture in the windy. Overall, if you are interested in a nice dinner, Sunset Monalisa is your place. It is no doubt pricey, but for the occasional nice dinner, we were glad we splurged here. Beautiful, romantic and amazing views. This was my second time here. They offer 3-7 course options. We picked the 5 course. There was 5 of us and every time food came our for each course one person was missing a dish. Which sucked because we all didn't get to experience the food at the same time. The server was trying his best to be accommodating but it was obvious they had some issues going on with communication. Do not go there hungry because it was about a 3 hour dinner for 5 courses and a lot of waiting in between. The food was good. Smaller portions so if you're hungry then I suggest the 7 course. Came here for the Pizza and Wine Bar area, because it was indoor and air conditions. I would highly recommend getting a reservation a head of time, we were able to get a seat by the windows and got a beautiful view of the sunset. We ordered a couple of pizzas, and I got the espresso martini which was delicious. The waiters were very friendly and ensured were were taken well care of, they even surprised us with a free desert and delicious drinking chocolate. The Pizza/Wine Bar is a less fancy experience than the outdoor dining, but still worth it. I look forward to trying the outdoor dining experience in the future. read more

Before arriving to Cabo I looked up all the best restaurants. Sunset monalisa was on every list. Before going I requested a reservation via their website. You have the option to pay $20 per seat for a "premium table" or sit at a regular table. A premium table was described as a table closest to the ocean. The view at this restaurant is unbelievable. Like insane. I would def recommend making reservations 30-45 before the sunsets so you can experience both day & night. If you are a picky eater I wouldn't recommend you going here. They have a pre fix menu. 3, 5 or 7 course meal. My husband & I opted in getting the 7 course menu so we could try everything. Everything was delicious except 1 of the meals. I love Sunset! My first time at this restaurant was about a decade ago and i have recently returned for a second visit. It is now more modern and chic vibe. The food remains the same of outstandingly delicious. Quality does come with price though.. it is a pricey restaurant to dine at but well worth the breathtaking views and experience! Beware! We went there from Dallas TX to celebrate our 10th anniversary on 11-24-23. We had a beautiful dinner with the 5-course fixed price menu. The food was fabulous and they brought us a complimentary dessert...after a 20-minute wait. When the waiter brought the bill...and when it was dark and we had a bottle of wine, he asked if we minded if he inserted the tip amount, we said yes. Imagine our surprise when we checked our bill the next day and discovered he inserted a 40% tip instead of the standard 20%. Our bill was a whopping $500+ for the 2 of us. This is for two reviews. In feb if 2018 we came here and had an unbelievable experience. Great Spanish wine for a reasonable price. We didn't eat, just had drinks and watched the sunset. Great services! We came back this year March 2019 and we had the opposite experience. We requested the same couch setting. We were placed off to the side with bar like tables. The waiter came almost 20 minutes later and didn't have any Spanish wine under $80. I understand they have to raise prices, but we were very disappointed. Just had one drink, which wasn't what we ordered anyways. The waiter didn't come back for an hour. Just hope the service doesn't go to crap because it is such an amazing location. read more

The food came out in a timely manner and it was really good. I will say the food for the tiered restaurant that it is let me down on only a few areas. SML has the nicest view of Cabo but the service does not match. It was a complete nightmare right after we put down our deposit to do a COMPLETE buyout for our destination wedding. David the coordinator we initially had, leaves the company after 15 years, we had no choice but to work with his assistant Renee. During this company transition we didn't really have much help during this planning process. Everything a venue coordinator should do for a wedding, Renee did the complete opposite. Not only did she show up a hour late the day of our wedding, she was unhelpful and fought with people that were helping set up as well as the bridal party. All the details of the wedding ceremony we had discussed prior she had disregarded. We were never informed the bar upstairs would be open to the public as we paid for a complete buyout. We were suppose to have signature drinks and water set up before ceremony in which she failed to do. In result our guests had to pay for water and drinks because that was not done. We were shocked to find out after our wedding especially doing a complete buyout with open bar. This was only a small portion of the planning nightmare we had to endure. We really hope someone at the venue reaches out to us regarding this. We have tried to speak to someone but only get transferred to her assistant Elva who pretends to be the manager when we request to speak with one. We regret not going to the CAPE Thompson that is right next to the restaurant for the amount of money spent only to be treated this poorly. read more

Tried the 7 courses prefix menu and it was a disappointment. Everything was overly salty and the lobster seriously was too soft and doesn't taste too fresh. Maybe Bc it was a Sunday night? Chef try to hide the not so fresh seafood? The sea bass was overcooked and dry. Fail! The complimentary pastry tasted better than the main courses. And don't do wine pairing it cost more than the food itself. I am not an expert in wine but the wine they have and intro you to was a meh. Excellent service - our server Octavio went above and beyond, tending to all our questions and needs. Three of us had a 3 course meal and 2 of us had the chef's 6 course tasting. They timed the dishes impeccably so that we all finished the meal around the same time and no one had to wait between dishes. Beautifully presented and delicious food - texture of the pasta was fresh and al dente. Lava rock seared steak was fun to watch. Oysters part of the chef's tasting were unforgettable and amazing. It is imperative to have sunset reservations and paying for the premium table is worth the remarkable view of the famous Arch and the ocean. I will be honest, I was a little leery as I had heard this was a tourist trap, that the food was not the best and I literally wanted to leave when they started blowing into the conch shell as the sun set and then a duo sang a couple of songs, BUT, we had committed and in the end, we were so glad we stayed! There is a photographer and you don't have to take photos, but we did for the hell of it and we loved them! His price is steep at $60 for all pics as you do not get to pick and choose and while that was a tad annoying, he actually did a wonderful job and we were grateful we participated in that small honey trap. I do not suggest the drinks, but they do have an impressive wine list and the food....they start you with an amuse bouche, followed by your choice of a prix fixe menu of 3, 5, and 7 courses. We chose the 3 course menu and I was not prepared for the culinary experience we had! The dishes were not just esthetically pleasing to look at but the food was delicious! After dessert, they also provided us with a platter of mini truffles and mini French macarons atop coffee beans; which you do not eat by the way! They have oceanside tables for larger parties and it looked like that would be fun for a group of friends and I was told by our server that they have a different menu. This Review is actually for Jazz on the Rocks and not Sunset Mona Lisa. They are in the same space/building but we opted to dine with jazz on the rocks. We were able to get an earlier reservation that would time at well with the sunset. Most everyone comes here for the view and the sunset. I suggest planning ahead if you decide to travel to Cabo and make a reservation. We opted for Jazz because we did not want a multi course menu meal and jazz allowed us to order separate courses. Mona Lisa seating is directly below jazz and more over looking the ocean and Cliff. The prices also tend to be higher and the menu did not appeal to us. Our visit was in January 2021. We were still practicing social distancing due to the pandemic and opted to sit away from people outside at jazz. We opted for a salad, pizza and another entrée that my husband and I shared. He also had one drink. It's not that we were trying to be cheap and not spend a lot of money it's just that quite honestly it's a lot of food and we like to share things and order different items. The meal overall was rather great and we enjoyed the pizza from the pizza oven just to the left of us. When we finished, we went inside for the jazz show. I believe it started around 8 PM, but I could be wrong so double check the website. We ordered additional drinks there. They also brought us homemade chocolate candies which were amazing. The jazz performance was outstanding and again although it was inside it was well ventilated and there were no other guest at this time. That's not to say that as Cabo becomes more popular and open to tourists that the crowds won't pick up which they will. Mona Lisa also had its own entertainment. It was a male and female singer which almost reminded me of fado music. They were far enough away but we could still hear them. Getting there can be a little tricky. We did have our own car and drove ourselves. It's next to the Thompson Cape hotel, but don't go into their driveway because their security was unfriendly. It's also very dark when you leave so use caution. We've been coming to Cabo for decades and this is always been on our list but we just never got around to visiting. I would definitely return to the Jazz on the Rocks side of the restaurant. Double check the website for both. The menus are different, and like I said Mona Lisa has more of a prefix menu. read more
