We had the $128 tasting menu. All dishes were beautifully presented but the only one that was outstanding was - the breadsticks and truffle butter. The five courses ranged from ok to good - but not on par with similarly priced restaurants. None were outstanding or even approaching that. The drinks were uncomplicated but tasty. I believe you can also call and make a reservation ahead of time. They had a wedding party so we were limited to the bar area but it was still nice. The staff was also very friendly! Pro: The sunset, COVID precautions, blankets in case you get cold Con: Road the restaurant, slow dining speed, even slower drinks. Crazy singers entertainment. Issue with food quality. Epic tourist trap, the price is well above local price but def lower than US and Europe counterparts... that say, the counterparts wouldn't over cook scallop until it's rubber. We were told to taxi there, which is fine, given there is an all out war between the uber and local taxi, transport in Cabo might as well be NYC or Tokyo prices in 30 years old cargo vans. The road from the main street to Mona Lisa is a potted dirt road, have fun bouncing around. Once we check in, the usual COVID booth to spray us down was not nearly as well constructed as other fine establishments in Cabo. This is mostly for show, as there were a ton IG folks taking videos and pictures of everything. Now, don't get me wrong, the sunset and the view is great, from 5 pm to 8 pm, it was just spectacular... which means 7 course also took 3 hours. The staff kept on coming out to say they are sorry, but there is nothing that could of brought out the courses and drinks faster. The food, it's ok for the price, you are paying for the view. Would I recommend this place based on the food quality? Absolutely not, there are TONS of other places in Cabo to watch sunset. Skip the Mona Lisa, unless you are there to promote your brand, about 80% of the folks were, it was a bit silly actually. The 3 people opera singing will get on your nerve after a while. In A Nutshell: -The Sunset MonaLisa lives up to it's name for epic sunsets. -There are three areas to sit in & it's best to check their website to reserve (https://www.sunsetmonalisa.com/reservations/) which area you would like to sit at least 2 weeks ahead of time. -We sat in the Ocean Terrace which was very private & cozy. -You feel like your sitting on your back patio furniture, but w/ the million dollar view of the Sea of Cortez, the Arch, ritzy Pedregal & downtown Cabo in the background. -The menu is limited, but I tried out their: Beet Salad, Sea Bass Ceviche & Filet Mignon. -The food turned out okay, had to return the steak b/c it wasn't cooked well enough, ended getting two for one, which is great. -The dessert is on rotation & it was $10, the only thing that I remember was it had cactus sorbet on the creation. -If you smoke cigars there is a guy selling cigars & an area you can smoke. -The place will get very busy, so make sure you get there early like 6:30pm so you can have better pictures w/ less people around. -The service is very good & kind. -Expect to pay around $23 for a one-way taxi ride from Pedregal. We ordered plates to share starting with the Seasoned black truffles. Very flavorful and worth the price. Our main was the pork chop. Cooked right and solid flavor, we also enjoyed this as well. For Desert, the restaurant was incredible and made our Honeymoon extra special by serving us the dish pictured. Ambiance/Service: The service along with the incredible view makes this place a must do for your special occasion. I think I almost cried it was so beautiful. If you're ready to drop some dough on dinner then this is a spectacular way to do it. So incredibly romantic. The servers are all super friendly, if not a little hard to understand with the broken English. But hey their English is way better than my non existent Spanish so who am I to complain? I was rolling out of there! I noticed the next table over didn't even touch the extra desserts they were so stuffed. The restaurant itself feels like an outgrowth of the cliffside, with multiple small patios seemingly floating among the boulders and local fauna. To say the place is stunning is an understatement. Our dinner selections were from a pre-set menu but were excellent in all aspects, from presentation to freshness, flavor, and portions. Personally, I had a simple crisp Caesar salad followed by a savory shrimp risotto. My wife had a fresh mozzarella salad and a filet with au gratin potatoes. The Caesar was lightened by using thinly sliced bread for the croutons with dressing on the side instead of tossed. The risotto was perfect, neither mushy nor not done, and peppered with large pieces of shrimp. I also sampled my wife's steak and potatoes, which were perfect. What a disappointing meal! We spent 7 nights in Cabo and ate all around the island. This was by far the worst meal we had and have ever had. We had the three course tasting (which was $100 pp). The portion sizes were minuscule. Our family has been to many chefs tastings all over the world and I have never seen a meal this small for the price. With this being said the location is beautiful for sunset and the actual taste of the food was good. WARNING the $25 per person reservation charge is non refundable and does not go to your meal bill either. We had an Airbnb right by this restaurant. The view, and the service were phenominal. We had a 7pm reservation, and were close to the band. The food was average at best, I ordered the 120 day dry aged strip, as they were out of all ribeyes, waygu or other. This strip was $126USD. my first cut into it I hit grizzle, as I worked thru the steak, it was not seasoned, no where near as good as the $11/lb ribeyes I get from the local rancher. VERY DISAPPOINTING. My wife had a filet, again no seasoning, below quality meat, for the price. The best thing we had was the au gratin potatoes. We will not go back. So many other choices, in fact the tiki bar, grill in the complex had great food. Drinks at Monalisa were quite pricey also, I had 3, since the food sucked. $400USD with tip was a waste of our time, I guess we paid for the view read more

Our group of four reserved a table on the highest terrace and had a lovely view of the sunset. We ordered the three course $99 pre fix menu that has a range of intriguing dishes. What we ordered was delicious. Rack of lamb, Duck breast, local fresh fish with shellfish were all lovely. We will return. Word to the wise, securing a reservation can be challenging. We went for what was supposed to be a memorable anniversary dinner. We reserved a private dining terrace and bought two premium tequila tastings in advance. We spent $490 before even walking in. From the moment we got there, our server (Samuel) tried to upsell us. We asked about the rose wines and he suggested the most expensive one, but couldn't tell us why. He also couldn't describe the items on the price fixe menu so we had difficulty choosing our courses, which is ridiculous for the price we were paying. Then our server started rushing our courses out and I had to tell him to slow down. While he did that, his service also became inattentive. Once we finished out bottled water, he never offered us a second bottle - we went the last half hour of dinner without a drop of water. And when we finished our bottle of wine, I was pouring it - can you imagine pouring your own wine for an $800 dinner for a party of two? And are you ready for the best (or worst) part? At the end of dinner, Samuel came over with the credit card machine and a paper survey for his service, and he told us the recommended tip was 25% and asked if he could punch that in!!! What unbelievable nerve. I insisted on adding my own tip and he stood over me as I did it. I begrudgingly gave him 20% (that he didn't deserve) and declined to hand the survey in to him. Instead, I found the manage Juan and told him despite this place holding great memories for me from the past and having a wonderful view, I would never come back. And, to top it off, my wife has been throwing up since we got back from dinner and clearly ate something that didn't agree with her. This whole experience was utterly disappointing and it literally was the worst way to end a delightful Cabo trip after excellent meals at Edith's and Flora Farms. If it wasn't for the view, this would be a one-star review. I will never go back here. It wasn't worth half the price and was very uncomfortable at the end. Further Update - per the "owner's" comment below, he claims to have tried to call me personally. That is false, I have received zero calls from Mexico since I left that dinner. And none of his comments address his staff's inability to speak to the items on the menu or their classless act of demanding a 25% gratuity. If he thinks I am EVER returning after spending $800 on this crappy experience, he is wrong. As for my wife getting ill, I am not a doctor and cannot say it definitively happened there. I can say she started to get sick before we even completed the 20-minute can ride back to our hotel. You can take your own chances. read more
